Currently, Marvel, although I am starting to slide into the Star Trek fandom, late as always. I’m working on a long retelling of the Wrath of Khan fic from a Spirk perspective.  I did use to write for Final Fantasy XV a while back, and I’d like to revisit that someday. I’m also eyeing up the My Hero Academia fandom and Yuri On Ice.

You know what, I’m really surprised by number four if I’m honest. I was always under the impression that one hadn’t done very well, as usually the fics people talk to me about are Stringless, Betwixt and Love, Dreams and Coffee Machines. It’s a pleasant surprise, but I’m a little shocked!

5. Do you respond to comments? Yes, I try to respond to them all, sometimes things get in the way, and I forget, but I’ll always respond, it might just take a while! But I do appreciate all of them and the kudos, and occasional screams in my Tumblr inbox. It really does act as a motivation for more stories!💞

6.What is the fic you wrote with the angstiest ending?

Oh, this one is easy. It’s Without You, it’s the only really sad story I’ve written. I mean, I love putting angst in my writing, but this is the one where Tony was dealing with his grief of losing Stephen, and he doesn’t get him back.

7. What’s the fic you wrote with the happiest ending?

I think all my fics have happy endings if I’m honest.💞

8. Do you get hate on fics?

Yes, unfortunately, they tend to range from: Why are you writing about this couple? Why aren’t you writing about the couple you just did? I don’t like reading about this pairing. I’ve recently had a few saying my writing is awful, or my take on a story is awful.

I think that’s the risk you take with posting things online, which is saddening as I don’t think people always appreciate how much work, effort, time goes into any creation, be that art, fics, or mood boards. I’ll be honest, it can drag you down at times, and it has made me want to quit a few times, but the fandoms I’m in are incredibly supportive and welcoming, so I try not to let the few bad comments overwhelm the positive ones I have.

9. Do you write smut? If so, what kind?

I think most of my fics have smut in, unless they’re the small prompt pieces I worked on, and I write all kinds, to enhance the plot, without a plot, multiple partners, solo self love.

10. Do you write crossovers? What’s the craziest one you’ve written?

I haven’t no, but I I do have a request sitting in my inbox for a IronStrange/ Star Trek crossover which I really want to work on!

11.Have you ever had a fic stolen?

Back before my AO3 days yes, and when I confronted the writer about it they were very apologetic and took it down. I’ve had people take my stories and post them on Goodreads and I’ve had to fight with them several times to take down

13. Have you ever co-written a fic before?

I haven’t, I’ve worked with artists on stories before and that’s been incredibly fun.

14.What’s your all-time favourite ship?

I’ve had loads, but the one I’ve written for the most is IronStrange, although I enjoy writing for FrostIronStrange more.

15. What’s a WIP you want to finish but doubt you ever will?

I actually have a half-written JohnLock one sitting on my laptop, but I’m not sure I’ll ever get back to it. I love the idea and I love writing it, but I don’t know if I can get their voices quite right and I keep losing faith in it.

16. What are your writing strengths?

I’ve always been told it's my characterisations and emotive writing, which are huge compliments.

17. What are your writing weaknesses?

I would say it’s writing action/fighting scenes, I always leave a place card saying ‘Write fight scene here’ and go back to it at the end. I just…find writing them tedious and I don’t think I always get the movement right, or the stakes, if that makes sense?

I struggle with pacing too sometimes….like I want to get to the good bits of the story and skim over the other bits.

18.Thoughts on writing dialogue in another language for a fic?

The only other language I know is French from what they taught at school, and unless you want me to write a story where I need to order stationery and tell you where the library is, it’d better if I just stuck with English.😂😂

If I did need dialogue in another language, I’d reach out to an author who I knew could speak the language.

19.First fandom you wrote for?

Beyblade, way back in the olden days…..or actually, maybe it was Lord of The Rings?

20. Favourite fic you’ve written?

I’ll always have a soft spot for Stringless because it was the first IronStrange I’d ever written and I was so nervous about writing for Marvel and posting it, and Ternion because again, I’d never written a poly couple and I was really anxious about writing Loki.

But the fic I enjoyed writing the most was Betwixt. I was devastated when I finished writing that because I’d poured my soul into it. I wrote it on pieces of scrap paper during meetings, I stayed up late working on it, and I got up early to write it. I always enjoy the stories I work on, but that one holds a special place in my heart.

I’m desperate to write a sequel for it.

to answer your first question, dear titans in paths, no i fucking don't!! i did check it out again when i did that bingo thing (cringe intensifies) and the last time i posted on there was 6 fucking years ago 😱🤯 full disclosure, i get the urge to delete my account every once in a while, basically anytime i'm reminded of ff.net's existence, but i try not to give in. it's a part of who i was, yk? besides, opening my inbox on there just reminded me of the absolute pleasure it was to get my first ever feedback on my writing so.... yeah. i'm never rereading any of that shit though, i used to be even worse at writing than i am now BIG YIKES

as for the platform itself, the interface was terrible (still is) and imo counter-intuitive to use, so i don't miss that. also the option to read comments (aka reviews on there) directly from your profile would only appear, in RED ITALIC LETTERS DIRECTLY NEXT TO YOUR FIC'S TITLE, if someone left you a review. so in whatever interval of time before someone did, it would be glaringly absent, which always felt like a stab to my lil sensitive writer's heart (i was a teenager, gimme a break 😳). oh, and the search system is subpar, minus one million over ten, never would recommend even to my worst enemy, run for your life and give up trying to find whatever you were after on there shudders

i did love, however, that replies to comments were private and therefore couldn't count as another comment!! which is something i loathe on AO3, because it fucks up the stats and forces me to reply publicly, which i'm not a fan of. plus, it would open a direct, private line of communication between writer/reader, and that was a great way to meet like-minded people, to make friends, to elaborate future fics together, to discuss headcanons... there was a real sense of a writing community, i feel, that might be lacking a little on ao3 (which is why i link all my ao3 fics to here, though it's still not the same).

ao3 is definitely more modern and practical, but sometimes i miss the good ol' ff days. and i don't actually like posting my fics on tumblr, but i feel like i have to so they get what little visibility they can get x)

hiii everyone :D i miss tumblr so bad and the ability to make long form blog posts ugh twitter is not the same plus the site and app are literally so shit. even though the tumblr app is not much better sometimes!! ive decided i want to post more on here to continue my little virtual diary…. I love the tagging system and most of all, love being able to look back and read my own updates!!! it’s crazy how it can help me recall the exact feeling of that moment… it feels special :) Twitter is great for quick fleeting thoughts so i wanna make lengthy life posts on here as a little time capsule, so i can have fun looking back and reading all my posts 10 years from now (if this site still exists. but i joined in 2011 and its still here so who knows). plus ive been posting my entire life on here for YEARS so who cares i will be vulnerable and over share and shit!!!!!! as is tumblr tradition… fuck it if youre my cousin on my homestuck side you can have my SSN.

moving on, here are fun life updates:

- celebrated my 11th anniversary on Feb 14th with the love of my life, Tenma!!!! i have been affectionately calling it the 7/11 anniversary since it’s been 11 years together, but also 7 years married 🤯 it actually fucks me up so bad that 2017 was 7 years ago like. genuinely lol FUCKKK HOOWWW 2017 should’ve been like 3 years ago. we choose to get married on the same day Tenma asked me out, which is also Valentine’s Day, and it was the best decision of all time for SO many reasons. maybe i will make a fun big post detailing those thoughts that another time!! we spent our anniversary day trying out a new coffee spot (so cute and SO pink omg), taking photo booth pictures at a new spot, exploring cute shops, and having an insanely delicious set menu i think maybe 6 courses? at a very fancy restaurant. i think 3 years ago we tried a new restaurant on our anniversary w their set Valentine’s Day menu course and it was so good, fun, and the best way to try out new foods so we’ve kept it going and i LOVE IT!!!!! i am already excited to see what tenma picks out for next year lol. finished the night by watching In The Mood For Love at our favorite local movie theater and i LOVED the movie, the whole end until bedtime we were just talking about it and dissecting it together. i love our life!!!!!!!!!

-tenma and i went to disneyland at the end of February for our anniversary trip!! ive gone before but they haven’t. IT WAS SO FUCKING FUN i am not a Disney fan at all but i love disneyland idk it’s just fun as fuck… um my feet were fucked afterwards lol but so worth it. one day at disneyland and the next at California aventure i wanna go back already but most importantly, tenma was already talking about wanting to go back and that makes me so happy bc it means they really enjoyed it!!! yay!!!! they even went on rides they thought were really scary just so we could try them together just once and that filled my heart with joy. then we also got to meet my online friend and had hotpot together. DELICIOUS i want to go back and explore LA next time and see more friends!!!! we are maybe planning a trip to San Fran in a few months though as the consulate is there to get my passport so that will take priority over any other trips☝🏼

-I GOT MY GREENCARD YEAGHHRHRHFJF!!!!!!!! ok actually i got it last year lol i wasn’t sure if i should put that on here but actually im so happy so fuck it!!! and then we celebrated by having a fancy dinner and I shared the news w the waiter who said he also did the same process w his wife! and yes i cried when i got my greencard idc i am HAPPY! crazy bc i got DACA for the first time in 2013 and then in 2023 i got my greencard… it’s been a fucking rollercoaster. and tenmas been there literally every step of the way…. Tenma is my rock I love them so much im crying typing this bc of how much i love them and how much they always support me and augnfngnfmg

-concerts this year have been Sonic symphony, kikuo/bo en/gus, Hannah Diamond, and hatsune miku (mikuexpo 2024)!!!!!!!! i loved all of the concerts genuinely so fun and next month i am taking my youngest sibling to a concert of a guy I don’t know but they love him so we will go and have a blast 🫡 idk if I’ll buy more tickets to more concerts but even if I don’t, it’s been a really really good year concert wise and i got to experience so many fun shows i never thought i would see live before!!

-spent time with lovely friends and celebrated old friendships and new ones yaaaay i love my friends and im blessed to have a good support system and I can’t wait to see what new friends I make in the future….

-I have a cold rn and took nighttime meds and unfortunately they are starting to hit so it’s time to say goodnight to tumblr…

People actually put their fanfic behind paywalls? 🤯

How? And WHY?

Yeah, more or less.

Apparently, it's most common on Twitter fics where essentially a writer won't update until they reach a certain dollar amount in tips. And here I thought it was annoying and gauche when people held updates hostage until they got a certain number of comments 🥴

Links to kofi, cash app, patreon are an explicit violation of AO3's TOS and a great way to get one's fics removed (and rightfully so). I suspect people either do this on third-party websites or direct to third-party websites (e.g. linking to socials on AO3 which then link to payment apps) to get around AO3's TOS.

Either way, it's shitty.

Not every hobby needs to be monetized and fanfic is a hobby that cannot be monetized. As is, fanfic writers have a narrow space we exist in to legally write fanfic without getting sued into oblivion.

Anyone monetizing their work on AO3 jeopardizes the website and the works archived there. If AO3 is seen to be hosting works that infringe on IP and violate copyright laws, the whole thing is at risk of being a target of lawsuits, which could bankrupt AO3. At the end of the day, it's small potatoes compared to a publishing company, film studio, or other copyright holders who have big money to throw behind these types of lawsuits.

This is why I'm so hawkish about people trying to monetize fanfic. I fully admit I side-eye fic writers who have Kofis linked to tumblr and report people who link their Kofis on AO3, but charging readers to read your fanfic is a whole other level of sheisty.

I know plenty of readers would gladly pay their fave fanfic writers, but no honey 💅 pay fanfic writers in kudos and comments and keep your money. 'Cause that's not what this is about. It's always been about seeing our favorite characters fall in love and bang it out and no one needs to be charging anyone their hard earned money for that.

oh my gosh this is incredibly kind idk how to even receive a compliment like this anskskajzjajs i am most definitely not a director or screenwriter or anyone even adjacent to that, i really just try my very best to look deeper into everything that interests me and have consumed a ton of fanfic and metas about the show that definitely inform my own interpretations, but THANK YOU!!

rafe and jj are for sure two of the most interesting characters on obx in my opinion, so analyzing them comes so easily just cause i can’t help but look into literally every thing they do and say. i’ve done some supplemental research about coping mechanisms and trauma for jj (and honestly just cause i love psychology) but i have barely even scratched the surface!! i’m always down for a deep dive on them or really any of these characters

[Wings of Fire] MudWing Headcanons

Me when I finally use Tumblr for something 🤯. I'm working on tribe headcanons and am going to start posting them here. I have lists for all of the tribes but we'll start with MudWings (they're in tribe guide order).

MudWings have the most complex structures and they are very skilled at construction, especially masonry.

MudWings are the largest tribe in population due to having the largest egg clutches. These clutches range from 5-9 dragonets per laying.

When the tribes started adapting to their environments and evolving into the tribes that exist today, the MudWings were the last to be formed.

Blood-red eggs occur about once for every 8 clutches. It is most common for the bigwings to hatch from a blood-red egg.

MudWings have a stronger immune system due to living in a swamp environment their whole lives and being exposed to these diseases, gaining immunity to them over time. If a MudWing, such as Clay, is hatched out of the swamp, they lack this immunity.

MudWings are the only tribe where mating for life is rarely seen. Higher-class MudWings are the only MudWings known to sometimes stay with their mates.

The MudWing social structure is shown by how the kingdom is arranged. The lower-class MudWings live on the outer edges of the kingdom while the higher-class MudWings live around the palace which is in the center of the kingdom.

MudWings are commonly aromantic or demiromantic. It's rare to find an actual relationship between two MudWings.

The Royal MudWing Family is the only family well-known for keeping track of their biological dragonets.

The MudWing Royal Family is represented by rubies.

Despite MudWings being hungry is always seen as a joke, it is extremely important that MudWings eat enough food because of how much energy they need due to their larger bodies.

Common MudWing professions include farmer, stonemason, medic, hunter, shopkeeper, and rancher.

Traditional MudWing music is played with banjos, fiddles, harmonicas, jugs, kazoos, washboards, and rhythmic clapping, stomping, or thudding. The music is similar to that of stereotypical hoedown music from old-time eastern America.

MudWings have large horns that they use for ramming. These horns either twist outward and upward (bull), or downward (ram).

MudWings often have patterns similar to that of swamp animals. This can include speckles, spots, feathery markings, and zig-zags.

01. How did you find out about anime?  Omg, I’m kinda afraid of this one because it all really begun recently, if I remember correctly, it was 2020 and my best friend made me start watching BNHA. Oh boy, little did he know that once I like something there is no turning back and so I started digging more and more. But let’s not forget those times when smol kid Nuu didn’t even know the word anime existed but enjoyed Inuyasha, Sailor Moon, Ranma 1/2 anyways.

02. What’s your favorite anime?  Haikyuu!!🧡 I don’t know how many times I’ve watched it, every time I recommend it to someone I have to start watching it with them and I get all the emotions as if it was the first time all over. 🕯️Prayer circle for season 5🕯️ 

03. Do you have a favorite J-music/K-pop group/singer?  Without a doubt: Centimillimental, I thank Given everyday for introducing me to this talented man, he is my favorite. Following real close is Eve!! There is definitely not a bad song omg. I also listen to a little bit of King Gnu, Burnout Syndromes, Aimer and thanks to my sister I’m starting to get into K-pop with Stray Kids, Tomorrow x Together...

05. Currently, what is your favorite fandom anime?  I’m not sure if I’d be able to pick just one, maybe it’s because I haven’t been long enough in each one of them(? but with every anime/manga I start I gladly join and want to stay forever in that fandom.

06. Despite the ups and downs of Tumblr, what motivates you to stay here today and do your best? I don’t think I have experienced so many of the downs of tumblr since I just got back a few months ago, but one thing I know for sure; tumblr was the actual motivation to endure 2021, then I started finding lovely people that made tumblr even better... so, basically it’s the first app I check every day lol. I wish I could get to know all of you a little better ( ꈍᴗꈍ)
