hello it's the main blog of the tubbassador au op and your tags on some of my posts were REALLY good. absolutely immaculate! would it be okay if i screenshotted them in a reblog (w credit) to perhaps add on to/reference at some point? i know some people prefer their tags to be private so it's not a big deal if you'd prefer not. either way they were excellent!! thank you for taking the time to write them and have a spectacular day :]
:O feel free to screenshot and use however u want! honestly my tags are very public domain so go wild, but thank u for asking first it’s really sweet of u
also im glad u like them and they weren’t a bother!! im never sure how much of my absolute rambling in the tags is interesting vs an inconvenience lmao so it’s nice to hear u thought they were cool!! ive gotta go through the rest of ur au soon, it’s just such a cool concept to me :D

that tubbassador au is better and better every time tubbo hits a new server
lifesteal canonically has planes
and within ten minutes of being there he struck up a deal with an anonymous ally and got stacked with gear and contraband
love that for him <3

Hi! Are we getting anything else with the Tubbassador AU? I just found it again because I couldn't remember the name so I had to search for a while and re-read everything there and it's so good.
I hope 2023 is having a good start for you! Have a Great Day/Night!
i'm absolutely thrilled it was worth re-reading omg?!
sadly i don't have any plans for it right now just because my interest in the dsmp has severely waned. that doesn't mean there will never be anything ever again - i do still have a lot of asks for it. but for right now i'm focusing on other things :]
i'm really, really glad so many people have enjoyed it :D

tfw your vice-assistant-captain-co mayor accidentally calls the ambassador’s son a pet because you told him it was a pet and now you’re on damage control

I adore your Tubbassador AU especially the fic about him bringing Michael to work... Can't stop thinking about Tubbo coming back to Hermitcraft with a handmade thank-you-for-the-toys card that Michael has made, and Scar reacting with a strange mix of "This is the cutest thing ever" and "How did Tubbo teach a mob to write"

hard hitting questions!

Something Tubbo really doesn’t get is the diamond throne in the town hall. It's more diamonds than he's every seen in his life, all crafted into blocks and stacked nearly the the ceiling in a building that doesn't even have a door. Anybody could come in the night and take off with it and there's nothing to stop them - no traps, no guard, nothing. The nether portal is even right below it - a perfect escape route for prospective thieves. The honors system of the shops is one thing, but to so flagrantly leave out the entire budget of your mayoral administration is another.
Scar doesn't understand his concerns. He shows Tubbo the thrown proudly, almost smug in how he remarks that it's technically his. He shows no recognition of the potential nightmare he's set himself up for, and when Tubbo suggests that the diamonds could be put to better use, Scar just lights up and starts talking about how incorporating diamonds into the walls would really pull the space together.
Tubbo tries to explain further. He talks about the vaults used on the Dream SMP, how they can be set up easily to hide quite a lot, how useful a good vault is in wartime. Scar laughs. They don't use vaults on Hermitcraft, he says.
"Unless you're into that kind of vibe, I guess." He adds. "Or if you like the challenge of it."
Tubbo is left wondering how Scar hasn't been eaten alive by his people. Why it is that Hermitcraft has approached the Dream SMP for an alliance when their mayor lounges atop more riches than is in L'Manburg's vault. It doesn’t make any sense.

abt your tubassador au, how does hc handle the news of doomsday? bc surely if tubbo was meeting in hc while new l’manberg was going on then he would have to break the news?
Tubbo doesn't tell them. There's no reason to, in his mind. He had told them their alliance was with the Dream SMP, not specifically New L'Manburg. If he quit now he'd have no reasonable explanation as to why and besides, the Dream SMP still stands to gain significantly from a continued alliance with Hermitcraft. Lord knows they need the help more now than ever and frankly Tubbo is glad of having another project. He doesn't even miss his next meeting, the fourth so far.
The hermits notice that something happened, of course. For as much skin as the ill-fitting suit covers it's not enough to hide the new scars that decorate his face, his hands, his neck. Tubbo doesn't mention it, but they ask. He tells them that everything is fine. That they are the result of an unfortunate run-in with mobs when he was unprepared, and they carry on. They don't believe him, but they don't press. That's what counts.
So: the hermits don't know about the specifics of Doomsday. They won't until he starts to get more comfortable and let things slip until eventually it all comes out to Iskall after a quiet night spent resource grinding.
(Iskall is horrified. Angry on his behalf, too, but above all just sad. He is sad that this kid had to watch something he built be reduced to ash - the place he called home, the homes of all the people he loved, the people he governed. He is sad and angry and horrified Tubbo ever had to sit in that rubble, fearing for his life, helpless to make it stop.
But it's not about Iskall. It's about Tubbo and Tubbo doesn't need for him to be sad. So he just holds him and lets him talk about all the things he misses. The picture he paints is something so special; he wishes he could have seen it. Even if it were messy; just so he could fully understand what Tubbo loved so much.)

vaguely tubbassador au. thinking about fabric scarcity and how on the dsmp they probably didnt have like a TON of fabric so they were pretty good about wearing things for a long time or reusing stuff so when tubbo sees scar’s closet full of four season worth of costume changes his brain breaks. hes like how do you even WEAR all of this. why would you own this many outfits. and scar is just like you never know what might happen! tubbo in turn like what might happen???? a sudden and dire moth infestation?????? what.

Is there ever a visit from the hermits to the DSMP
Cause firstly, why only one side gets to visit the other's server and take a tour? And secondly, I'm pretty sure at least some of the hermits want to actually see with their own eyes wth is happening at the DSMP.
Or would Tubbo just deny the whole idea if it was ever presented, cause he doesn't want to lose one of, if not the only, chance that he has of an alliance?
- Life's anon
Tubbo thinks himself a bit stupid when he's blindsided by the request to visit the Dream SMP. In hindsight, it's obvious; he's come to visit them in honor of the alliance, it's only natural they'd want to return the favor and see what exactly they're getting themselves into. Especially with the things he's accidentally let slip - but in his defense, there was no way he'd have known that it was weird on HC to completely destroy someone's base for a joke. But whatever.
He'll just have to figure it out, because Tubbo can't think of anything more suspicious than denying them a visit. What excuse could he even use? "Sorry, our server is in the midst of extreme political turmoil and it's really stressing me out, you know how it is, do you think the visit could wait"? Or maybe, "there's a serious concern someone might harm you guys and I'm a bit afraid you'll be unprepared to deal with that"? Fuck no.
He does ask them to wait though, making up some bullshit about bureaucratic red tape, enough to buy him a week to prepare. It's spent trying and failing to get members of his cabinet to help him fill in creeper holes and tidy the pathways which is annoying because this whole alliance was pushed on him by them to begin with - least they could do is help make it work. He learns he's a lot better at landscaping than he thought though (this is not saying a lot).
It's not nearly enough to hide the scars the land bears but it's a start, at least. It's not like they'll want a whole server tour, right? Just a breeze through, see the town and stuff. Maybe the mess will be good, earn them sympathy or something. He can't even convince himself that that's a good angle.
Four Hermits are to visit: Scar and Bdubs, for diplomatic reasons, and Iskall and Grian, who just kind of wanted to. Tubbo is thankful they're at least people he's familiar with, but it's a double edged sword. He likes these people and bringing them to the Dream SMP is like having your best friend come over while the floor of your room isn't visible, but even worse. Everyone forgets to do laundry, not everyone has a fucking crater where their original country was.
They arrive. Tubbo picks at his hands the whole time, leading them around the route he'd laid out beforehand which he'd taken special care to make presentable. (Which really just meant planting flowers and hoping that would distract from how ugly everything felt in comparison to the Hermit's home server.)
Iskall makes a real effort to compliment things as genuinely as possible, pointing out buildings he thought were nice or plant beds that were particularly well cared for. His actions had the desired affect of easing Tubbo's visible anxiety slightly.
Bdubs whispers to Scar all his Building Hot Takes, often just a little too loud to be confidential. When it's obvious Tubbo's overheard he shouts out a compliment to whatever is in his field of vision, often pointing out something that nobody in their right mind would think is worthy of a compliment that loud. It's an effort!
Scar does his best to nod along and occasionally ask Normal Politician Questions. This eventually devolves into just trying to give compliments and asking about their building techniques in a way that probably sounds condescending but is a genuine attempt to meaningfully engage. He does compliment Tubbo's landscaping attempt though, a win in Tubbo's book. Scar offers to give him a few tips.
Grian is uncharacteristically quiet, just kind of taking it all in. He occasionally chimes in with a question or two.
It's impossible to avoid the crater, though. Tubbo expects it to be the breaking point, the thing that shifts the entire tone of the alliance if not shattering it completely but to his surprise Iskall comments that it's impressive, how after such complete destruction they managed to rebuild. The others concur. Tubbo makes an active effort to ignore any looks the Hermits share amongst themselves while they continue because that's good enough. He just wants it to be done.
The Hermits are shocked but also a bit impressed. The Dream SMP is nothing like the organized chaos of Hermitcraft but it has its own charm, in a way. The people they meet along the way are kind. They enjoy the sights, the few there are. It's clear Tubbo put in effort. The Hermits leave more resolute to contribute to the DSMP's success than before.

Presenting to you, a new Tubbassador AU fic!:
let me give you a bandaid (it's your favorite color)
Gen | None | 1/1 | 3,030 words
Summary:
"Is - how are you doing this evening, Ambassador?" Scar asked, smiling, doing what he could to keep the worry from his voice. He really wanted to ask about the scars - make sure everything was okay, that Tubbo was safe - but he knew better than most that scars, especially in great numbers, rarely came from anything fun. He could just be trudging up a traumatic week with that question.
"I'm alright, sir, how are you?" The response was practiced, which they'd come to expect: a small smile and an even tone which gave no hint of what was going on inside Tubbo's head. It seemed a bit more stiff than usual, maybe. Maybe that was in Scar's head.
Or: In which Tubbo won't accept Doomsday as a good enough reason to miss his appointment on Hermitcraft and Scar notices something is wrong.
