Day 1. Humble Beginings
So, honestly I've always been vaugly aware of witchcraft because my older sister is pegan, and my Mom would sometimes attend and kinda watch her covens ceramonies. I was never allowed to look or see it for myself bc I was A Good Christian Girl and Witchraft Bad For The Soul. (She respected my sisters life descisions and never tried to force her into being a christian, but I do think she made it known that she disagreed with my sisters path).
And then my freshmen year that Zodiac Meme got huge, and for some reason that reaaaallly drew me into astrology? Like I full on studied it and my natal chart and got to know a lot about it. But I wouldn't say I really started practicing until a few years later when I accidentally stumbled across witchblr. Call me a bad witch or w/e, but I mostly came for the aesthetics. Everything looked so pretty, kinda like a flower. And like a pretty flower, when it catches your eye you tend to look closer at it. Not picking the flower, mind you, because then you take on the responsibility of taking care of it. But you get closer none the less, maybe take a few pics, maybe look up its name. Maybe decide you really like flowers and begin to study it. And that's what I did with witchcraft. I saw it, got closer, and got hooked. It morphed slowly from everything being pretty to everything being fascinating. And as I read more it kinda crept up on me, "hey, I wanna do that. That sounds really neat." So I kept reading and studying about it until it shifted from a casual interest to a legitimate and solid topic I was studying.
My first spell didn't work. Which I mean, looking back now, duh. I didn't have any of the right supplies and was arrogant enough to think I knew enough to make it work anyways. Key tip to babywitches: yes you can substitute things in spells, and you don't even necessarily need supplies at all for some spells. But if its a written out spell that is not one of your own making, stick to the recipe until you're enough of a pro to put your own spin on things. And it's okay to admit that you're not a pro yet. We all have to start somewhere, and it's pretty rare that you're going to catch onto things the first time around and not make any mistakes. That's a lesson I'm still learning and working on tbh.
But yeah, either way. I'd honestly say I'm still a baby witch. I took a few years off bc of major life changes, but I'm back to studying and learning again. This time though, full comitment. I'm not sure where my path is going to take me, and I get the feeling it's going to be slow going. But honestly? I'm kinda excited for it, to see where I end up.
