Living together turned out to be easier than either Mercury or Travis had expected. Their dynamic was effortless—they each understood the other’s need for personal space. If one wanted to hang out, the other was usually happy to join. If they needed a day to themselves, it was met with no complaints or hard feelings.
Mercury, however, was at a crossroads. After some soul-searching, she decided to quit her job as a criminal. It wasn’t just about the risk anymore; the lifestyle simply didn’t fit who she wanted to be. Her time on Earth was meant to be about growth and connection, and she realized she needed a career that didn’t conflict with those goals.
While searching for her next step, Mercury filled her days with quiet hobbies, brushing up on her chess skills. The game had become a soothing escape and a way to keep her mind sharp. Sometimes Travis joined her at the board, though his moves were often distracted by his work.
He was knee-deep in a massive programming project assigned by his company, his usual easygoing demeanor replaced with moments of intense focus. Mercury would glance at him from across the room, hunched over his laptop, muttering strings of code under his breath. Despite his busy schedule, he always made time to cheer her on during her chess games or ask about her day.
“I’ll never be as good as you at this,” he said one evening, moving a pawn before glancing back at his laptop. “But hey, if chess ever involves debugging, I’m your guy.”
Mercury laughed, capturing his queen with a knight. “You’re better than you think. But I’ll take you up on that offer if the rules ever change.”
Their shared moments, whether in silence or laughter, reminded Mercury that she’d made the right choice inviting Travis into her life. The future felt uncertain, but with him by her side, it was a little less daunting.

Inside the gym, Mercury quickly made her way to the leg curl machine, setting herself up for the first exercise of the day. The rhythmic sound of the machine’s weights clinking filled the air as she began her sets, focusing on the controlled movement of each rep. The burn in her legs was familiar, almost comforting—it reminded her that she was pushing herself, testing her limits.
As she settled into her routine, she overheard the chatter from Paolo and Ozzy, who were standing a few feet away, chatting in front of the pull-down bars. Paolo was leaning casually against the equipment, flashing his usual cocky grin, while Ozzy stood a little farther back, hands in his pockets, clearly unbothered by the conversation.
Paolo (with a grin): “You know, you really oughta hit the gym more often, Ozzy. Girls love a guy with arms like these." He flexed his biceps, a playful but confident smirk on his face.
Ozzy (smirking back): “Yeah, and girls love a guy who doesn’t spend all his time flexing in the mirror,” he shot back, his tone light and teasing.
Paolo chuckled, throwing up his hands in mock surrender. “Alright, alright. I’ll give you that one. But you have to admit, I’m the one with the real moves.”
Mercury rolled her eyes but couldn’t help but smile at the banter. She wasn’t sure how Paolo managed to stay so confident all the time, but his charm had a way of rubbing off on the group—sometimes in hilarious ways. Ozzy, on the other hand, was always quick with a comeback, and his easygoing attitude kept the group dynamic grounded.
She finished up her leg curls and moved to the pull-down bars, setting the weight before beginning her sets. As she pulled the bar down with controlled power, she listened to Paolo continue his one-sided conversation with Ozzy, clearly undeterred by the fact that Ozzy wasn’t paying him much attention.
Paolo: “You know, man, you’ve got potential. You just gotta take advantage of it. Maybe I’ll show you how to lift properly sometime. I’m not saying you’re doing it wrong, but…”
Ozzy (interrupting): “Uh-huh. Let me guess, you’re gonna make me follow your expert advice while you check yourself out in the mirror?”
Paolo laughed and shrugged. “Maybe. But at least I’m giving you the tips you need.”
Mercury finished her set and shot a glance over at them, shaking her head with a chuckle. She wasn’t about to join in on their conversation—she was here to work, after all—but she couldn’t help enjoying the energy they brought to the gym. It was these little moments of lightheartedness that made the gym feel like a place she could be herself, even as she continued her mission of understanding Earth and its inhabitants.

Six months had passed since Mercury had been left in the sandy desert town. The days were long and hot, the nights cool and quiet, and Mercury had settled into a rhythm, blending in as best she could with the humans she had come to study. Her luminous features had been cleverly masked with a bit of human ingenuity—her disguise helped her fit in, though her sharp wit and curious nature often set her apart.
Adapting to human life had been anything but straightforward. Without a past, finding work was nearly impossible, and her curiosity about Earth’s darker side led her to the criminal underworld. The job wasn’t glamorous, but it kept her afloat and introduced her to contacts who specialized in obtaining "unofficial" paperwork. Though she questioned the legality of the documents, they worked well enough to establish her as a citizen. With these, she secured a modest house in Oasis Springs, a quiet suburban neighborhood where her neighbors didn’t pry.
To balance her unconventional job, she sought connection. She joined a local fitness club called the Powerhouse, where her natural athleticism quickly earned her respect and camaraderie. The club became her sanctuary—a place where she could blend in, build relationships, and learn the nuances of human friendship.

The UFO hovered silently over the sandy expanse, its metallic sheen catching the faint glow of the stars above. Below, in a quiet desert town surrounded by dunes, Mercury stood with her alien parents, their forms glowing faintly in the moonlight. She glanced around, her blue hair catching the light as her luminous eyes took in her new surroundings—a world both foreign and fascinating.
Her father, tall and commanding with an aura of quiet authority, placed a steady hand on her shoulder. "Mercury," he began, his voice carrying the weight of their mission across the still night, "this is where your journey begins. You must learn their ways—their emotions, how they love, grieve, and hope. Study their technology, crude but resourceful. Observe their strengths and their weaknesses. Only through understanding them can we comprehend their place in the cosmos."
Her mother, radiating warmth and tenderness, crouched beside her, placing a small, iridescent charm into her daughter’s hand. "This charm will remind you of home," she said softly, her voice a contrast to her husband’s commanding tone. "Immerse yourself fully in their world, Mercury. Learn all there is to know about life—its beauty and its fragility. When you have understood it all, you will return to us, carrying the wisdom we seek."
Mercury nodded, her resolve firm, though a flicker of doubt lingered in her mind. Would she be able to fulfill their expectations? The UFO began to hum softly, the ramp retracting as her parents stepped back into its gleaming interior. They looked at her one last time, their expressions unreadable but filled with the weight of both pride and expectation.
In an instant, the craft shot upward, leaving behind only a faint shimmer in the night sky. Mercury turned to face the distant town, the faint glow of its warm lights flickering against the vast, empty desert. She placed her hands on her hips and smirked. “Well, if they can survive out here, this should be a piece of cake.”
With a confident stride, she started toward the town, her curiosity and determination burning brighter than ever.

Space Legacy Challenge
Hi everyone! I'm Bayleigh, as some of you might remember. I used to be all over simblr when I was in high school and started posting my Not So Berry Challenge, I'm A Lover Challenge, Shameless Legacy Challenge, Cliches Challenge, and Midnight Sun Challenge. I even made a very bad legacy of my own called Brooding Teen about vampires. Here is my navigation page if anyone is curious...
That was nearly 8 years ago I think... since then I have graduated college, and with my newfound time that I'm not in school I decided to do another challenge after many years of neglecting my account.
I will be stating the Space Legacy Challenge by @simsandstrawberries
Apparently everyone had the same idea of doing this challenge using aliens?... so I will be doing the same :) I will be posting the first post tomorrow!

For a moment, Travis simply stared at Mercury, his breath hitching as her whispered "yes" reverberated in his ears. He surged forward, capturing her lips with his in a kiss that was hungry but tender, his hands gripping her waist as he pulled her closer. Mercury melted against him, her hands tangling in his hair as she let out a soft sigh that sent shivers down Travis’s spine.
As they moved together, the room seemed to shrink around them, their focus entirely on each other. Travis’s fingers skimmed her sides, leaving a trail of heat as they slid under the hem of her pajama top. Mercury arched into his touch, her nerves momentarily giving way to the thrill of closeness.
“Are you okay?” Travis murmured against her lips, pausing just enough to search her eyes.
“I’m—” Mercury hesitated, her voice trembling as she nodded. “I’m good. Just… nervous.”
His expression softened, and he brushed a strand of hair from her face. “We can stop, you know. Anytime. I don’t want you to feel—”
She cut him off with a kiss, her hands pressing against his chest as she pushed him back onto the bed. “I don’t want to stop,” she whispered, her cheeks flushed as she straddled him. “I just—this is new for me.”
Travis let out a soft laugh, his hands finding her hips. “It’s okay. We’ll figure it out together.”

As their kiss ended, Travis adjusted himself, shifting his weight to lean over Mercury. His expression was tender, his gaze searching hers as his hand gently brushed her cheek.
“Mercury,” he said softly, his voice steady but laced with a hint of nervousness. “Are you sure you’re ready for this? I don’t want to rush you into anything you’re not comfortable with.”
Mercury’s heart raced, not out of fear, but because of the trust and care she saw in his eyes. She reached up, placing her hand over his. Her voice was steady, yet filled with emotion.
“Yes,” she said simply, her gaze unwavering. “I’m ready, Travis.”

In a sudden burst of joy, Mercury grinned and placed her hands gently but firmly on Travis’s shoulders, pushing him down onto the bed. Travis let out a surprised laugh as he found himself lying on his back, looking up at her with an expression caught between curiosity and affection.
Hovering over him, Mercury’s smile softened, her gaze locking with his. For a moment, she hesitated, as if searching for the right words. Her voice came out as little more than a whisper, warm and filled with emotion.
“You really are something else, you know that?”
Travis’s grin widened, his hands resting lightly on her hips. “I could say the same about you.”
She chuckled softly, her fingers brushing a stray strand of hair from his face. Then, before she could second-guess herself, she leaned down and kissed him.
The kiss was tender and slow at first, but it quickly deepened, carrying with it all the unspoken feelings she hadn’t been able to express before. Travis responded without hesitation, his arms wrapping around her, holding her close as if he never wanted to let her go.
When they finally pulled apart, Mercury rested her forehead against his, her breath warm against his lips. “Thanks for being patient with me,” she murmured.
Travis looked up at her, his eyes shining with affection. “I’ll always be patient for you, Mercury.”
She smiled, her heart swelling with a mix of gratitude and love. For the first time in a long while, she felt like everything might just turn out okay.

Later that night, Mercury lingered in the doorway of their bedroom, her hands nervously fidgeting with the hem of her pajama top. Travis sat on the edge of the bed in his purple boxers, his posture tired but relaxed. The faint glow of his laptop cast a ghostly shadow in the corner, a reminder of the late-night coding project that had consumed most of his week.
Mercury shifted her weight from one foot to the other, finally taking a deep breath before stepping forward. She stopped just in front of Travis, her presence immediately drawing his attention.
“Hey,” she said softly, her voice tinged with hesitation.
Travis glanced up, his tired eyes softening at the sight of her. “Hey, you. What’s on your mind?”
She hesitated again, her arms folding across her chest for a moment before she let them drop. “Can we... talk? About us?”
Travis straightened slightly, his brows furrowing with concern. “Of course. Is everything okay?”
Mercury nodded quickly, her hands fluttering nervously at her sides. “Yeah, yeah, everything’s fine. I mean, it’s good. Really good. That’s kind of the thing.”
Travis tilted his head, clearly listening intently. “Alright, I’m following. Keep going.”
She took another small step forward, her bare feet brushing against the edge of the bed frame. “I guess I’ve just been feeling... nervous. About how things are going between us. Not bad nervous—more like I don’t want to mess anything up.”
Travis’s concern softened into a small, reassuring smile. “Merc, you don’t have to worry about that. You’re not going to mess anything up. But if you’re feeling this way, it’s important to talk about it.”
She let out a shaky laugh, her hands gesturing vaguely as she spoke. “I know. And that’s part of the problem. I feel like I should be able to just... say what’s on my mind, but it’s not that simple. There’s so much I’m holding onto, and I don’t even know how to start letting it out.”
Travis leaned forward slightly, his elbows resting on his knees as he looked up at her. “It’s okay. You don’t have to say everything right now. Just tell me what you can, when you’re ready.”
Her gaze dropped to the floor for a moment, then back up to meet his. “I guess I’m just scared of moving forward too fast. Of... messing things up by not being ready.”
Travis studied her face for a moment, his expression kind. “It’s okay to be scared. And it’s okay to take your time. I’m not in a rush, Mercury. I care about you too much to let something like timing get in the way.”
She blinked, the tension in her shoulders easing slightly. “You really mean that?”
He nodded. “Absolutely. Look, relationships are complicated enough without putting pressure on yourself to be perfect. I’m here because I want to be, and I’ll wait as long as you need.”
A small, grateful smile broke across her face. “Thanks, Travis. That means a lot.”
He reached out, his hand gently brushing hers. “It’s the truth. And for what it’s worth, you’re doing a lot better than you think. You don’t have to carry this all on your own.”
Her heart swelled at his words, a warmth spreading through her chest that eased the knot of fear and doubt she’d been holding onto. “You really know how to make a girl feel better,” she teased lightly, her voice more relaxed now.
“It’s one of my hidden talents,” he replied with a grin.

Mercury opened her mouth to respond, but Jacob cut her off with a teasing grin. “Okay, hold that thought. It’s your turn, and if this tower falls because you’re distracted, I’m never letting you live it down.”
Mercury laughed, feeling a bit of the tension ease as she carefully slid a log free. Jacob followed suit, but his log stuck. As he gave it a gentle tug, the entire tower wobbled dangerously before collapsing in a clatter of wooden pieces.
“Aw, man!” Jacob groaned, throwing his hands up in mock defeat.
Mercury smirked. “Terrible move, Detective. Do you want to talk about that instead?”
Jacob chuckled, shaking his head. “I let you win. Anyway, back to what I was saying. You don’t need to overthink it. Just talk to Travis, let him know how you’re feeling—without all the pressure of what you think you’re supposed to do. If he’s the guy you think he is, he’ll understand.”
She gave him a grateful smile, starting to clean up the pieces. “Thanks, Jacob. I needed to hear that.”
“That’s what I’m here for,” he said warmly. “Just don’t overdo it. And maybe don’t let him beat you at Llama if you two ever play.”
Mercury laughed, the sound genuine and light. “Noted. But I’ll definitely bring it up when I’m ready.”
“Good,” Jacob said as they stood up. “Now get out of here before you overthink yourself into a spiral. I’ve got this place to myself now.”
“Have fun guarding your secret teen hangout,” Mercury teased, pulling on her jacket.
“Always,” Jacob replied with a grin, watching as she stepped out into the now-drizzling evening.
As she headed home, her thoughts were lighter than they’d been in days. For the first time in a while, she felt like she had a plan.

The two ventured deeper into the ruins, their footsteps echoing faintly against the ancient stone. Mercury followed Jacob down a narrow passage that opened into a hidden, surprisingly cozy space. She couldn’t help but grin.
“This is... not what I expected,” she said, taking in the mismatched posters taped to the walls, the fairy lights strung haphazardly along the ceiling, and the beaten-up couch and TV in the corner. “How’d you find this place?”
Jacob shrugged with a lopsided smile. “You’d be surprised what you stumble on during stakeouts. Plus, it’s kind of an open secret among the locals—teens come here to hang out all the time. I figured it’d be a good spot to chill, especially with this rain.”
Mercury wandered further in, her fingers trailing along a makeshift shelf lined with snacks and random knick-knacks. A small table in the center of the room caught her attention, stacked with a game she recognized as Don’t Wake the Llama.
“Didn’t peg you for a Llama guy,” she teased, nodding toward the table.
Jacob smirked. “Don’t knock it until you’ve been completely humiliated. Wanna play?”
Mercury raised a brow. “Oh, you’re on.”
They settled at the table, the rain outside creating a gentle backdrop as they stacked the wooden logs into a precarious tower. Mercury took the first turn, sliding out a piece with surprising ease. Jacob followed, his move equally confident.
“So,” Jacob started, his tone casual as he focused on the tower. “What’s got you so tied in knots about Travis?”
Mercury froze for a split second, masking it with a laugh as she nudged the tower back into balance. “Tied in knots? Is it that obvious?”
Jacob smirked. “You’re not exactly subtle, Mercury. Spill.”
She hesitated, pulling a log free and setting it on top. “I guess I’m just nervous,” she admitted. “Things are moving fast, and... I don’t know if I’m ready for everything that comes next.”
Jacob’s brow furrowed slightly as he carefully removed his piece. “You mean, like, being more serious?”
Mercury glanced down at the tower, her stomach twisting. She didn’t want to outright lie, but the truth—that she was terrified of what might happen if Travis discovered she wasn’t human—felt impossible to say. Instead, she nodded vaguely. “Yeah, something like that.”
Jacob looked thoughtful as he placed his piece on top. “That’s normal, you know. It’s a big deal. But if you’re not ready, that’s okay. You don’t have to force anything. Travis seems like the type of guy who’d understand.”
Mercury smiled faintly. “I hope so. I really care about him, but... it’s complicated.”
Jacob tilted his head. “Complicated how?”
Mercury fidgeted, her fingers brushing the edge of the table. “I just... don’t want to mess things up. He’s been so good to me, and I don’t know how to handle it. I feel like there’s this pressure, but I don’t even know if it’s coming from him or just... me.”
Jacob studied her for a moment, his expression softening. “Mercury, it’s not a race. If you’re not ready, it’s fine. Travis seems like the kind of guy who’d wait as long as you need. But you’ve gotta figure out if you’re holding back because you’re not ready, or because you’re scared of what he’ll think about you.”

The crisp September air carried a steady drizzle as Mercury sprinted through the open field toward the ancient ruins of Windenburg. The rain soaked through her crewneck, but she didn’t care. The ruins, with their crumbling stone arches and moss-covered pillars, loomed ahead like a sanctuary—a fitting place for deep thoughts and difficult conversations.
Jacob was already there, waiting under the shelter of a stone alcove. He waved her over with his usual easy grin, the hood of his jacket pulled tightly over his head. "You’re late! Thought you bailed on me," he teased as she came skidding to a stop, shaking water from her hair.
“Yeah, yeah,” Mercury puffed, catching her breath. “I didn’t think it’d rain this hard.”
Jacob smirked. “This is Windenburg. It always rains this hard.”
Mercury laughed lightly, but her thoughts quickly turned inward. The humor in Jacob’s voice was grounding, but it wasn’t enough to settle the storm of uncertainty inside her.

Mercury had taken to her new job with an enthusiasm that even surprised herself. Becoming an athlete had felt like a natural progression after spending so much time at the gym and bonding with her Powerhouse friends. She thrived on the structured workouts, the camaraderie with her teammates, and the rush of pushing her body to its limits.
Every day felt like a new challenge, and Mercury welcomed it with open arms. Whether it was running drills, practicing her form, or studying game strategies, she immersed herself in the work. She loved the mix of physical effort and mental focus it required, and most of all, she loved that it finally felt like she was doing something that resonated with her.
Travis often joked about how her newfound energy was contagious. "You’re glowing," he said one evening as they sat in the living room, her muscles still buzzing from a tough training session.
Mercury laughed, leaning back against the couch. "It’s just nice to be doing something that feels... right, you know? Like I’m working toward something real."
"And not just a paycheck," Travis teased, grinning.
"Exactly!" Mercury said with mock exasperation, throwing a pillow at him.
Even Nebulor seemed to pick up on her good mood. The little creature would watch her stretch or practice with curious chirps, occasionally mimicking her movements in his cage. It became a running joke between her and Travis—her unofficial "trainer" overseeing her progress.
