Part 8

It was a new morning at Melody and Matt's household.The stunt Melody pulled on the public mics at Stephen's  diner the day before caused her to have all sorts of weird dreams that night. She jumped out of bed in the early morning hours thanks to one, and Matt was already awake and noticed her jump up.

"NO-" Melody screamed out as she jumped up. 

Matt just opened his eyes at the sound of her voice."Mel? What-" He saw her sitting up now. "Are you okay?" He asked her.

"I...I...I am now...man, these dreams are going to be the end of me-" She panted for a bit, like she'd been running but then took a deep breath and calmed down.

"Just come stretch here." Matt gestured with his hand and she turned to him.

"I...why am I being so afraid? Why am I having these stupid nightmares, I just...I don't get it." Melody started tearing up.

"It's alright..." Matt smiled at her. "You're just being a bit scared and that's normal. Remember that one day when I wanted to go apply for the soccer team?" He asked her.

"Uh...yeah, you sucked at trials hon." She chuckled

."Right? But I did give it a try anyways." Matt chuckled too. "And that hon bit was cute." He added. 

"O shut up-" Melody finally lied back down next to him.

The Sun had come out by that time too, so the room was now much brighter which made Melody calm down even more.

"Thank you." She spoke to Matt. He just smiled as he traced the lines on the palm of her hand.

"Why? You know I hate seeing you upset." He spoke. "Besides, frowning's not the best look for you." He joked.

"No, I meant for...that. What you just did. While I'm here stressing out, you're pouring out jokes and making me laugh and I needed that." She spoke. "Thank you for understanding me and for being with me for so long." She smiled.

"That's just part of my job description." Matt smiled at her. "But...you know I love you and I'm always here okay? Just remember that." He rose up.

"Even when I'm yelling like a lunatic?" Mel joked.

"Ha ha, very funny." He chuckled.As he rose up a bit he leaned in towards her.

"You're a doofus you know that?" Mel smiled at his face in front of her.

"I'm your doofus, I love you." He actually leaned in more and kissed her. She was at a loss for words as she did not see that coming.

After that the two just kept goofing around on the bed, and they even started a pillow fight.Melody still had a lot on her mind about the two new friends she'd made and she still thought there was a reason behind that as well not just because she's so nice.But for now, she's just enjoying a lazy day with her dog Gage and her man Matt. Weird, but functional trio.

Part 7

Melody was having some early breakfast at Stephen's diner. It seems that place turned into one of her regular hangout spots now. She went out in the back after taking her order to eat in some fresh air and peace and quiet and she saw the outdoor stage.She hadn't seen it until then, it'd been only up for about three days, and she approached a microphone.

"Hmm...I suppose I can...give it a go..." She looked around and nobody was there, who would be at not even 7am?

"I spend too much time thinking about who I'm supposed to be, I play by everybody's rules, that don't seem right to me"

"I'm cool and polite on the outside, when I get a chance I run and I hide, but if your eyes are closed it's hard to see..."

"What if I back down now, cause I'm afraid of what might happen, what if they turn away when I show them who I truly am...what if I lose my breath when I throw those big doors open or tonight, just tonight what if I shine?"

She kept singing without music and to her it was magical. She felt at ease knowing nobody was around or so she thought. A waitress on the early shift heard her and gasped. She didn't dare show herself or interrupt though.

If only she could get the courage to show her beautiful voice to everyone, but it's gonna take a while till that happens...a long while.

I don’t care that it’s a Barbie movie song, it happens to describe her insecurity about singing perfectly, and the character we see Barbie as in this movie has the same problem, so it only seemed fitting I use that song.

Part 6

A  while has passed. The girls have been having regular hangouts, and they've become good friends. None of the two band girls have mentioned anything to Melody about joining up with them. She did however get invited to hang out with them when they practice sometimes. Anyway, Melody had gone out to a park in Willow Creek with her new pet - a pit bull named Gage who she and Matt had adopted a day before this.When she was about to get inside the park area, she bumped into none other than Riley herself. Tammie was there too, but she didn't pay much attention at first.

"Mel? Well hello - oh who do we have here?" Riley's eyes began to sparkle as she saw Gage stare at her.

"Oh, hey Riley...Tammie...meet Gage, Matt and I adopted him yesterday." Melody smiled.

"Aw, you got a dog? And you didn't tell us?" Riley smirked.

"Well...at first we weren't sure if we would even get one and then the choice was hard, all those cute faces really deserve good loving homes, but this knucklehead won us over. He's a year old but he's so sweet." She smiled at the dog who just stared at her with a happy face.

"I can tell that - hey Tam, come over here!" Riley called out.

"I...Ooooh-" Tammie turned around but the clouds mesmerized her. She plopped on the dirt instead and started counting and shaping them.

"Well, so much for that." Riley laughed from a distance.

"I'll go sit on a bench, you two can join me when she's done...counting..." Melody chuckled.

"Right...I'll go get her." Riley chuckled too and walked away towards Tammie.

(disclaimer: I fucked the pose up a bit but it's not that bad so I didn't redo it)

"Ah, isn't this nice..." Melody smiled at the view in front of them. The water sparkled as ducklings swam around in it.

"It is...good that we ran into each other too...I have an idea." Tammie grinned, pulling her leg up again.

"Not-the-leg-again-woman-" Riley facepalmed.

"No, listen, I heard about this new campsite in Windenburg...on the island...they say it is awesome. What say us three girls go there for the weekend?" She suggested, giving out a weird grin.

"The weekend? I'm gonna have to check with Matt, I don't wanna ruin anything he's planned...if he has I mean." Mel smiled. "If not, then he can go do whatever and I'm coming with you." She spoke.

"GREAT-" Tammie overdid it with her joyfulness.

"Calm the heck down." Riley dragged her butt back on the bench. "Thank you. Crazy woman." She laughed.

"Right...so who's grabbing the food?" Tammie asked. "I don't wanna starve." She half-joked.

"We'll do that Tam, no worries." Riley smiled. "I'll grab the guitar too, that way we can sing campfire songs." She added.

"Yay, some good tunes, outdoors, let's just hope that there's no storm happening soon." Tammie spoke.

"Well, it is autumn...that might happen, but hey in that case...spooky tent stories-Wooo-" Riley laughed.

"You two are so weird." Mel chuckled. "And I don't know why, but I love that." She added.

"Ya hear that? She's a fan of the weird!" Tammie nudged Riley.

"Ow-my-rib-" She whined. "Yeah, yeah. Let's go now before a storm happens right here." She suggested and got up.

"You girls can go, I have to give Gage a walk a bit longer, poor thing has been cooped up for a while. I'll take the last boat to Brindleton Bay." Mel spoke.

"Alright, goodbye then girly! Text us later about the camping." Tammie shouted as they were already at a distance.

"Sure! Bye!" Mel waved and the two were out of sight. "Alright...Gage, let's...Gage? Now where has that oddball gone to-" 

And so Melody was left on her own to search for her dog who turned out to be sniffing out the inside of a children's playground tree trunk.
