I'm making a blog about this, but I'd like to hear other people's opinions. Do you think Sindel didn't prepare Mileena properly to be Empress? I have no doubt that she loves her daughters Since she threatens anyone who threatens their lives (despite her favoritism towards Kitana). Mileena seems rebellious, bold and hot-headed, and according to some characters, they seem to agree that she doesn't know anything about ruling, unlike Kitana, who appears to be peaceful and diplomatic. I know that having a royal upbringing doesn't guarantee that a person won't follow their own rules, there are several princes and princesses in history who were known for their strong personalities, but perhaps Sindel's favoritism towards her youngest daughter didn't help Mileena to be more "like a princess should be"? Sorry for the long ask.

there is a lot of things to blame sindel for but not preparing mileena for the throne isnt one of them imo.

i think a lot of mileenas unorthodox ways (choosing a zaterran as an emissary even though zaterrans are seen as lesser, wanting to reach a hand out to the tarkatans, etc) are a result of mileena just being who she is. i think sindels favoritism toward kitana probably stemmed more from kitana having a more traditional approach to how she saw and understood the realms politics. they probably were taught together, but sindel probably saw kitanas progress and development as a spitting image of herself back when she was still learning the ins and outs of it all. that is all to say, sindel chose her favorite as a result of kitana heeding her training more closely, kitana did not learn better because she was favored to begin with. if that makes sense.

i think people can have their opinions of how fit mileena is to rule but i think its also important to remember theres not only one proper way to rule. people regard sindel as having achieved a golden era and whatever but lmao when you really dig into what outworld looks like, you can see its not actually as great as people say it is. the tarkatans are forced to live in the ghettos and slums of their towns, barred entry from the rest of civilization instead of given the medical treatment that they need. the zaterrans were left completely to their own devices and corruption is spreading in their lands, so much so that it resulted in a genocide no one knew about. the shokan and centaurians have a rivalry that has been simmering this whole time and only just bubbled over now that sindel is dead. mileena has her work cut out for her to clean up sindels messes it seems lmao.

but thats all besides the point i guess. i think that mileena is her own person and just because she behaves rebelliously and does things how she thinks they make the most sense doesnt mean she doesnt understand what it takes the rule. i think it just means that mileena has her own way of doing things and that people arent used to that yet. is she immature and did she probably need more time to prepare? yeah. but i dont think thats sindels fault, i think its just the result of sindel dying too early. i honestly dont think kitana would have been better prepared for the throne if she was the next in line either, she would probably be overwhelmed as well
