The cofounder of True Religion Brand Jeans, Kym Gold uses her story to serve up a firm dose of life and career lessons that helped her build a multimillion-dollar fashion brand from the ground up.Kym Gold’s mantra, “never settle for a no; always look for a yes,” is what led her to co-create True Religion Brand Jeans, a major retail clothing company that sold for close to a billion dollars in 2013. In Gold Standard, Kym finally gives her side of the story of how the once fledgling jeans company that nobody wanted, went on to become a giant revolutionizing player in the fashion industry. As a woman in the boys’ club world of the fickle fashion business, Kym armed herself and became one of True Religion’s majority shareholders and their lead female clothing designer. On Valentine’s Day in 2007, she was served divorce papers by her then husband and had her company ripped from under her—all within an hour. Since then, she has reestablished her place in the industry and catapulted herself

Five High Fashion Baby Clothing Suppliers
Modern mothers are equally as concerned about the way their babies seem when they move outside as they are with the way they themselves look. Children's style is a serious business and trends come and move within it nearly as fast as they do on the runway. Baby clothing suppliers come in all shapes and sizes just like adult clothes companies do. Fortunately, there are many options for baby wholesale things, therefore dressing your baby in clothing that is appropriate for New York fashion week is simpler and cheaper than you may think. Here's a listing of five baby-clothing providers whose baby things are both high fashion and high priced, unless you strike a bargain with wholesale prices. Hermes Hermes, a brand well known in the fashion world for its lavish patterned clothing, especially scarves, also makes fantastic baby clothing. This layout home is a baby-clothing provider that provides mothers with high fashion items for their little ones. From miniature Mary-Jane fashion shoes to winter clothes accessories, Hermes provides trendy alternatives to normal baby clothing choices. Though their infant clothing items might not be quite at wholesale pricing, it is significantly more affordable than you might imagine, and the firm does host earnings. Barney's New York Barney's is a fashion staple for any true runway following mother. The company that has been dressing actors and"fashonistas" alike since 1923 also has a clothing line and sells these baby things at inexpensive prices, nearly comparable to pricing. Their baby line consists of classic regular bits, not only seasonal trends like a few high-end baby clothes providers. Barney's provides excellent looking clothes for cheap prices to suit any style. Diesel Kids Everybody deserves a great pair of jeans, and infants and kids are no exception to this rule. Diesel, which makes great jeans for mommy and dad, also makes trendy designer jeans for infants. This clothing supplier offers great alternatives for kids offering equally as many washes and styles of denim as they do for adults. As compared to their adult line, their jeans for kids are less expensive and will have some infant looking stylish. True Religion Very similar to Diesel, True Religion is a brand that's known for its denim. Still another infant clothing supplier that's centered on jeans for kids, True Religion is much more affordable, and can sometimes be found at wholesale pricing, brand of infant items which can keep any"fashionista" parent happy about the way their child looks. Offering plenty of styles and matches, True Religion carries a small something for everybody.
Tumblr media
Juicy Couture Juicy is a brand that's known for its Hollywood fame and fashion. This infant clothing supplier is well-known in the baby world because of its almost wholesale priced baby products, including graphic tees and signature fleece jackets and sweatpants, the same as the ones that mommy might wear. Juicy is a superb way to style any infant. The world of children's style is one that is growing and becoming equally as relevant as that of women's style. It is clear the high-end baby clothing suppliers, such as the ones which are listed above, are eager to create high fashion baby items for virtually wholesale costs so that your baby can go out looking his or her very best everyday. We all want to give our babies the very best thing we can give. In this article, I will discuss some tips about how to choose baby clothes and I hope they can assist you. Be careful about the colours. Be cautious when the clothes are too vibrant or too bright. They may contain some toxins which are secure to grown-ups but very harmful to babies. We advise you to choose baby clothes that are in light colours like white or light beige, which are comparatively safer than people in dark colours. Be cautious about the substances. I believe it's common sense that we ought to choose baby clothes that are made of pure cotton. Cotton baby clothes allow the skin to breathe freely and they're milder than any other clothes. When infants are wearing clothes which are produced from pure cotton, then they will feel more comfortable and easier to maneuver and learn. Be cautious about the buttons and zippers. For small infants, it is not a good idea to choose clothing with buttons or zippers. Infants are so curious that they may attempt to place the colorful buttons into their mouths. This is extremely dangerous so attempt to avoid clothes with buttons. Zippers are also dangerous for infants since zippers may hurt their skin and palms. Generally , we recommend clothes that are tied out of the behind which are substantially safer. Be cautious about the prices. Babies grow quickly and sometimes you need to purchase new clothing for him every month. That's why you must take costs into consideration. But, we don't recommend you buy those clothes that are too inexpensive because safety is the most crucial issue for the infants. Buy at least 4 more pairs of socks than you actually require. You need to prepare more socks than you really need. This is only because the socks are easy to fall off and you might ignore them. We advise you to buy jeans with elastic bands which should be neither too tight nor too loose. Choose clothes which can be washed by washing machine. Most of your baby clothes should be cleaned and dried by washing machine. You will find it too difficult for you to wash all the clothes by hand because your infant might create a great deal of dirty clothes every day.

combination of all the above factors that give
To produce fabrics, unlike any other in the market, True Religion joined hands with top US fabric manufacturers.Other aspects of True Religion Jeans worth noting are their ideally located pockets which accentuate the slim look, the fashion-forward seams, and the striking, colorful embroidery work. Owing to these molds, True Religion Jeans are incomparably, stylish, sleek, and body-contoured, without being uncomfortably, tight.Over the past decade, the marketplace has been virtually inundated with a bag full of brands in Jeans, making it hard, if not impossible, to separate the ordinary from the unique (the hackneyed, colors and styles of jeans being what they are
To achieve the distinctive, slick and sleek look of their jeans, True Religion designed special fabric molds specifically tailored to different body contour lines.4) Another factor that gives True Religion Jeans their ageless styling, yet seemingly modern look, is the process that they are put through.A closer review of True Religion Jeans throws up some interesting facts and reveals just how they have virtually redefined the meaning of unique jean styling. It is precisely the combination of all the above factors that give True Religion Jeans its own distinct, hand-crafted personality. As opposed to standard jeans that incorporate stitches per inch, all True Religion Jeans have  stitches per inch. As reports suggest, and those echoed by company officials, True Religion is not just the creator of the exclusive, sleek and form-fitting, True Religion Jeans, but also a pioneer in other aspects of jean-making. The result is a better level of softness, aimed specifically to provide optimum comfort. Well, thats the general perception (or misconception, as there are always exceptions to the rule.
Within a short span of time since they were launched, True Religion Jeans has become a premium, lifestyle brand and a significant, player in the hi-end, luxury, jeans market around the world.Another pioneering, achievement of True Religion Jeans, lies in the stitching process. Whats more, each pair of True Religion Jeans has  different colored threads that are embroidered into them. Are True Religion Jeans a good buy? You can bet your bucks they are!. First, the jeans are pre-washed, then rolled and subjected to an agitation process. The True Religion Jeans that Jeff Lubell created were authentically.
American-made, and a result of his passion to replicate the body-clinging.As evidence of its success, True Religion Jeans are now available online, and in premium boutiques, department stores and high-end, clothing stores, in over 50 countries, on all five continents. The resultant vintage, hand-sanded washes that True Religion Jeans are put through, and super absorbent quick dry wear-resisting bag(Embroidery logo)  their distinctly noticeable, hand-crafted shadowing, natural lines and luster, are other major factors that add to their unique appeal. This is what gives True Religion Jeans their striking, eye-catching, appearance. No chemical treatment process is used for the fabrics, or during production.

Fresh Artist Fridays: The Authentic
PRESSURE is the song you play when you need to feel heard by your music. The Authentic’s inspiring lyrics punch you in the gut and leave you with a feeling of motivation and determination. The lyrics grab your attention from the beginning and refuse to let you go for the duration of the song. “I see today standing in my way. Trouble’s always present so I get down on my knees and pray.” The song is a candid admission of the stress we feel just trying to get through life. The Authentic raps about how he knows life won’t be easy, but he will do everything he can to provide for his family and take care of himself. PRESSURE tackles the emotions that come with feeling adversity and difficulty perfectly. It’s open about how hard it can be to feel depended on, but also makes it clear that nothing will stand in The Authentic’s way. Its music video is equally as inspiring, showing ordinary people go through life struggling but determined to make it. Check out PRESSURE, along with the rest of the songs off of The Authentic’s 2020 project, Politics, War & Religion - Mixtape Series Volume One.
The Authentic Bio
In a day and time when music is strictly about glamour and entertainment, The Authentic stands as one of the last true MC’s focused on reality lyrics, a crazy flow, a one of a kind style and the real essence of Hip Hop. With so many replicas in the industry, The Authentic’s pure passion for the music allows him to stand in a league of his own and truly fits the definition of his title. With a flow that places him in a league of his own and a sincere love for his craft, The Authentic doesn’t hold back; addressing social issues and taking direct aim at whack rappers. Through his career, The Authentic has fully utilized his diverse experiences in life to develop a strong versatile catalog; with motivational tracks that depict the streets reality like hit single “Shining Star”, up-tempo Hip Hop anthems like “Turn It Up”, and party bangers like “Oh My God”. With over 10 solid years ripping through the underground, hundreds of performances under his belt, radio appearances and five solid mixtapes with thousands of units moved; The Authentic has firmly secured his slot in the game. Working hard to build his reputation and master the craft of being an MC (Master of Ceremony), he has performed all over the country, from New York City (Nuyorican Poets Café, Revolution Bookstore), Philadelphia (The Trocadero, Love Park, and Wells Fargo Center), North Carolina (NC State University, Dorton Arena), Las Vegas (Planet Hollywood and The Bunkhouse) and many more. His diligence, determination and natural raw talent has earned him respect from some of the most reputable figures in the game, including: DJ Rashaun, DJ Scratch of The Roots Crew, DJ Touchtone, DJ NoPhrillz and has landed him on stages with superstars such as, KRS ONE, Big Daddy Kane, Naughty By Nature, Jadakiss, Styles P, Musiq Soulchild and more. With his sound, his resume and pure passion for the culture, The Authentic truly represents a lost voice in Hip Hop. In addition to being in a league of his own when it comes to lyrical content and experience; The Authentic separates himself from the pack by being more than just another artist. Over the years, he has dedicated a majority of his time off the stage to building his community and standing as a voice on various social issues. In 2011, The Authentic created an annual event called “The Authentic Minds College Fair Tour”, which hosted over 50 colleges, guest speakers and live performances held at the Martin Luther King Recreation Center located in North Philadelphia. This College Fair alone generated a wave of media buzz and lead to the interest of multiple sponsors. By establishing himself on the corporate side, The Authentic has created multiple opportunities to perform and organize entertainment events for companies and organizations. The Authentic has also served as a Community Relations Director and spokesman for various Non Profits and local movements. To him, Hip Hop is a way of life and a culture and he feels that the mic should be utilized to depict real life and to open people’s minds to a reality that most people do not understand. The Authentic’s love for Hip Hop started in the 80’s at a very early age, listening to legends such as RUN DMC, KRS ONE, LL Cool J, and witnessing local break dancing competitions and DJ battles. He became fascinated with the expressions of the culture in every aspect and embodied being a key figure to continue the movement. While growing up in South Jersey, he witnessed his mother struggle to pay the bills and embraced all of the usual elements of the hood; violence, drugs and poverty. As he adapted to his environment, he gravitated to the mic to speak on exactly what he experienced first hand and continues to do so. The Authentic hit the scene hard in the late 90’s, touring the Northeast with Wyclef Jean’s award winning group City High. Shortly after the tour, The Authentic’s group, at the time, signed a joint venture deal with a local independent label and No Limit records, which eventually fell through. Following the fallout of the deal, he quickly bounced back rocking stages with Lil’ Kim, Tracey Lee, Jackal the Bear, and landed a slot on the radio with Legendary DJ Jay Ski; all before graduating high school. By the grace of GOD, The Authentic headed to Raleigh, NC after high school to attend college and to pursue new music opportunities. With so many colleges in the area and a solid underground scene in NC, The Authentic’s career excelled all while trying to balance school work, hustling to pay tuition and his passion for Hip Hop. The Authentic hit the ground running by tearing down college talent shows and was eventually booked to open for DJ Clue, Jadakiss, Petey Pablo, Styles P and D.C., go-go music legends Backyard Band. In early 2000 The Authentic was selected to headline the CIAA Championship Game at Dorton Arena, as well as the CIAA Hip Hop Hoops Tour, which hit colleges through MD, VA and NC, including NC Central, VA State and Winston-Salem State College. This tour led to him landing a deal with an affiliate label of the NBC television network. The Authentic teamed up with Raleigh’s illest underground MC “Bubsy” to form a group called “Lock n Load”, which dropped two hit singles on the “One Hot Minute Compilation”, a collaborative effort by NC’s top artists from around the state. Both singles released received hundreds of spins from Richmond, VA to Raleigh, NC to Florence, SC. Following graduation from St. Augustine’s College with a Public Relations degree, The Authentic released his first underground project “Vision of Hope” which sold over 500 units all while teaching elementary school and creating youth outlet programs in the poverty stricken city of Henderson, NC. After putting in work in NC, The Authentic headed back home to Jersey embracing his degree, but sucked back into the traps of the hood. He continued making mixtape appearances and rocking shows all through the tri-state. Living in Trenton during one of the worst stretches of gang violence in the state’s history prompted the release of “The Line of Fire Mixtape”. It became the theme music, depicting the reality and moved over 1,500 copies on the street and in local stores. While “The Authentic’s” reputation was growing in the area, he suffered the lost of his cousin, best friend and roommate, Tone; who was shot in the back twice a few hundred yards from their home, while The Authentic was rocking his first show in NYC. After the lost of his cousin, he felt strongly about turning further away from the streets and using his voice more as a tool for awareness of the realities that the inner city youth face. From that point, he embraced his cousin’s last conversation with him, in which he reminded The Authentic that his role is to be “The Public Relations of the hood”. Following The Authentic’s explosion on the scene in Jersey, he relocated to Philadelphia to build his brand in the nation’s 5th largest city. In no time he began smashing open mics and local shows in every section of the city earning him spins and respect amongst the areas top DJ’s, such as DJ NoPhrillz, DJ Touchtone, DJ Jay Ski and DJ GregNitty. The Authentic blazed through the city with his mixtape release “Reality of it All”, followed by “Real Recognize Real” with hit single “Turn It Up”, which gained him national attention getting radio spins on FM stations from New York City, Las Vegas, Atlanta, and Philly’s 100.3 The Beat. The national buzz set the tone for The Authentic’s next mixtape “Righteous Kill Mixtape Vol. 1”, packed with versatile hits and moved 5,000 units in the street with no budget. With things in motion, he continued to make appearances all through the city from Unity Day with Chaka Khan, Philly Fest with Mos Def and Musiq, The Old Skool Jam with KRS ONE and Roxanne Shante, The Rotunda, The Trocadero, and XO Lounge with Philly Swain and Reed Dollars. He headlined Philadelphia Schools Stop the Violence Tour, West Philly Day, Nicetown Day, South Philly Day and Mantua Day with Naughty by Nature. The Authentic also showed up heavy on the radar with a feature on well known Gunz n’ Butter productions DJ J-Scrilla compilation “Culture of Honor” featuring Cassidy, DipSet, Tek and Reef The Lost Cauze.

Jamie has collected a significant portion of his wealth from his clothing brand. He is the founder of the company called Underground Denim. His company sells designer jeans to various colleges at a wholesale price. His company is also known as the Blue Jeans roadshow. The company visits more than sixty colleges in various states of the country to advertise and sell products like True Religion, AG, Rock & Republic, and many more. It does a good job of promoting jeans brands. The cost of those jeans can be up to $600 per piece. He also earns from his other businesses. Among them, De-Rone also brings him lots of profit.

That’s It, I’m Never Wearing Jeans Again! (Who’s With Me?)
Buying jeans has always come with a side of heart-racing terror for me, a holdover from when my body didn’t fit into most of them — as a teen, the very act of entering a denim store was an exercise in bravery and, inevitably, humiliation. (Forgive my lack of confidence: I was a plus-size adolescent in the pre–body-positive, ultra-low-rise era.)
Regardless of your body and how you feel about it, I’m willing to bet that you probably think shopping for jeans is the worst, too. The sizing is messed up. The price tags can be vicious. And digging through the folded stacks of denim to find the right cut in the right wash requires divine patience — and that’s before you get into the change room. Buying a new pair of jeans has been one of those fashion chores I’ve resigned myself to, along with bathing suit shopping and getting fitted for a decent bra. And yet, jeans (especially a stiff pair with a high-waist and zero-stretch) have been a staple of my adult wardrobe, my go-to at least three times a week. Now it’s more like zero times a week. And I’m not the only one.
Tumblr media
Since the pandemic hit, we aren’t buying clothes in the quantity we once did (surprise, surprise). But we’re especially not buying jeans. This spring and summer, denim sales have tanked. As a result, True Religion, Lucky Brand, and G-Star Raw have filed for bankruptcy, and the parent company behind Hudson Jeans and Joe Jeans has filed for Chapter 11 protection. The OG denim company, Levi’s, suffered a 62% drop in sales between April and June (its weakest quarter in two decades) and laid off 15% of its workforce. We’ve always known that shopping for jeans sucks, but we might be waking up to the fact that maybe jeans do, too.
Originally a staple of the working man and then a symbol of youth counterculture in the ’50s and ’60s, the jeans of 2020 are relegated to the back of the closet. It’s sad, really, because for so long jeans have been a fashion workhorse — something you could throw on without thinking in order to look “dressed.” They are the bottom half of the Canadian tuxedo, an icon of American style, and partner-in-crime to the Going Out Top. Now, they’re a form of bodily oppression — the last thing the working-from-home, possibly-eating-more-carbs woman needs. I’ve put on a pair once or twice in the past few months as an effort to feel more put together, but all I really feel is an assault on my crotch. To be fair, in the past I have preferred jeans that function akin to a denim corset, holding everything in place. Not only do I not want to feel that kind of restriction, I’m sort of appalled I ever did.
Is it just me? I did a quick survey of girlfriends and found that they too had forgone denim, with the exception of baggy plumber dungarees and maternity jeans (despite not being pregnant anymore). Thinking I needed to find out what Young Cool People are doing (no offence, mum friends!), I asked Sara He for her opinion. He is a 19-year-old fashion design student at Ryerson University in Toronto and just won a prestigious fellowship with the Suzanne Rogers Fashion Institute. In other words: She’s the embodiment of cool.
“Jeans have always been favoured in my wardrobe, but in the context of the lockdown, my reaction to them is adverse: Even my favourite pair has been sitting in my drawer untouched,” says He.

Same, same. Like many people fortunate enough to have a job — one I can do from the safety of my home — my relationship to style changed drastically this year. I love clothes, but I hate the task of getting dressed for work. WFH life has freed me of that daily burden. I have joined the stretchy-pants-and-a-nice-shirt workforce! And it is glorious. Not once have I thought, I have NOTHING to wear, despite having an overstuffed closet. No longer do I spend 30 minutes trying on outfits never to find anything that looks right.
Personal style in the pandemic world is split in two opposing directions: extreme comfort (hence the rising demand for matching sweatsuits and bike shorts) and look-at-meee-I’m-out-in-the-world outfits. Today, the occasion you might get dressed up for is Leaving My Apartment, rather than a party or event, and our style choices have evolved to suit that reality. “Right now, putting on a pair of jeans feels fancy,” says Susie Sheffman, one of the country’s top fashion directors and style watchers.
I couldn’t agree with her more, but one thing I’ve realised this year is that dressing for me is either about being seen or feeling good. Right now, it’s all about the latter. And what makes me feel good these days are loose-fitting dresses (my type of fancy) and spandex. I have made just four fashion purchases since March: a T-shirt featuring an illustration of Canada’s Chief Medical Officer, a pink sweatshirt with my hometown’s name and a picture of a moose, and two cotton sundresses. If “fashion masks” count, then make that five, because I also bought a royal blue face mask with ruffles from Greta Constantine. Nothing has been over $60 (£45).
According to Sheffman, jeans (even the skinny ones!!!) aren’t going anywhere. “Next to your winter coat, your jeans are the most hard-working item in your wardrobe,” she says. “They go with everything, and at a time when there’s so much uncertainty, the familiar and the authentic, true pieces like your jeans have incredible longevity.”
While He won’t be throwing a pair anytime soon, she believes jeans will survive longterm. She’s currently researching traditional Japanese design methods like sashiko needlework and boro patchwork. “Denim has been a staple in Japanese utility wear for many decades,” says He. “Even though jeans have not served us during this pandemic, I doubt that they will fade into obscurity forever. Long live denim.”
Sheffman agrees. Heading into autumn, she says jeans check two huge trend boxes: A return to ’70s denim in terms of style (she points to the patchwork styles in Tom Ford’s autumn 2020 collection), and with a rising interest in vintage jeans, our desire for more sustainable fashion. (While eco-friendlier forms of production are on the rise, from brands like Triarchy and Everlane, a new pair of jeans is typically the environment’s arch-enemy.)
Tumblr media
“The real trend in denim right now is back to a relaxed, vintagey feeling, whether it’s buying a pair of vintage Levi’s 501s — something that’s worked-in and comfortable,” says Sheffman. “Secondhand denim is a great way to do the sustainability thing. You can buy your denim online, vintage, so you’re helping the environment.”
But what if I’m a denim brand trying to sell you a new pair of jeans? Sheffman says I need to do two things: “Show me that you are participating in some sort of effort to be sustainable” and “go a little simpler and relax your styling a little bit.” Using softer denim is key.
That’s the playbook Levi’s is following in an attempt to turn around a brutal 2020. In addition to bandana-inspired masks (of course), its autumn lineup includes the Stay Loose for men and the High Loose for women. Both are made with a more environmentally friendly cotton-hemp blend and cut in a relaxed fit inspired by classic ’80s and ’90s styles.
This makes sense. My favourite pair of jeans is a pair of light-washed button-fly 501s. I bought them 12 years ago; two years ago I wore them for my Refinery29 headshots. When they were brand new they had two small not-so-authentic rips in the legs, but now they’re almost more hole than fabric. The material at the thighs is worn paper-thin and the seams are speckled with teeny holes. In other words, they are sensational. But I recently began to limit the number of times I wore them to work, thinking they may have crossed the line from casual-cool to ready-for-the-trash. But I always felt like me when I did wear them. I was dressing for myself — my own style and my own comfort. Maybe I’ll put them into my wardrobe rotation this autumn. If there’s one principle of dressing in 2020, it’s feeling at home in your clothes.
Like what you see? How about some more R29 goodness, right here?

7 min freewrite prayer (5.15.20)
last night was rough.  i htink i had this one long vivid dream bc right before, i finished spending 1 hour+ torturing paul with my long account of what happened 10 years ago between me and this one college friend-turned-enemy who to this day represents the source of so much of the insecurity that in some years i don’t even recognize and in other years are still so deeply in me it feels like i’m just cloistered by it, this thick heavy blanket of shame that drapes over me like a shadow <?>  i don’t even know.  i was actually tempted to write an entire personal piece about his one friend who 12 years later gets so under my skin, but a few lines after i started typing notes i decided not to bc i thought, i don’t want to give this guy more importance than is actually merited.  i do not want to memorialize him in any way when he was such a small sliver of a sliver of my story.  it felt not right to do that, as though he were some figure who touched my life (whether good or bad) or something, who my narrative has to account for in any way.  that guy, yes, the only friend where i felt compelled to block his posts from my FB feed bc i felt so scorned and diminished and mocked and weirdly betrayed by him at the demise of our friendship.  bc he was original, and he was funny, and he was a great friend to those he cared about (which included me, and i had priority even, especially when he liked me--”no, i ...  really liked you,” he had clarified when confessing awkwardly in my dorm room-- and even after i started dating his best friend, but ending a couple years later around the time when his best friend and i broke up), and he was good at adoring and worshiping and describing you in the most thrilling and endearing of terms.  and he called things years before they ever became cool.  he was always, always calling things that nobody had ever heard of, and i mostly thought he was just making stuff up, but on average i’d say that in 9 out of 10 callouts he was onto something years before it ended up on the more mainstream culture websites and art shoutouts.  he had strong opinions.  strong judgments.  insults that were as harsh as they were precise.  he was selectively principled.
but he was also petty, and even though he was good at worshiping and groveling and being pride-less if he liked you romantically or wanted to be your friend, he was also so spiteful and bitter and vengeful even if you slighted him in some way that got to him.  and as hilarious as his social and psychological experiments (esp. on the girls he liked) were, he was manipulative and wholly un-honorable about persuading girls with boyfriends or girls who were vulnerable from having broken up with their boyfriends.
and above all, he fronted.  he fronted so hard.  he would have moments and moments of being totally vulnerable and borderling aegyo-ish and tender and dear.  but everythign he said and did was mostly characterized by all his fronting.  endless name dropping.  the hustling to get this person to come here and that person too and oh just let me know if you want X’s from this company or this artist or this hip hop group because i know someone there and i can get you X and Y.  H used to do the best impression of him on the side, and i still snicker when i think of it now:  “yo i know someone at seven jeans, just let me know and i can get you stuff from there.  seven jeans, true religion...”  (keep in mind these were hot brands at the time.)  it was nonstop.  the hustling and fronting and name dropping to the point where i was just repulsed by him sometimes.  (and so was, i imagine, the beautiful girl who he finally dated and who dumped him and seemed to have significantly broken him for all of senior year.)
anyway, now it appears that he is in fact very successful and semi-famous in his own right and extremely well-connected in exactly the thing he set out to do from the first time i met him.  he knows celebs and global designers / artists, writers, and culture makers up and across the highest and coolest of brows in the city.  this guy who i feel like ended up hating me and everything he thought (whether he was right or wrong or a mixture of both) i stood for.  and as i was telling paul, bc he hates me and looks down on me, all his friends--the celebs and designers / artists, writers, culture makers, the art-politics-culture creatives leading the way from where they stand--they hate me and look down on me too.  and “i’m such a loser, paul...”  lol.
i dunno, maybe i do need to write about this after all lol.
i dreamed that i was at...  a house gathering of some sort, like a cozy non-rushed one, and for some reason my the an ex S was there, and so was the girl E who he sort of in a way left me for and even jumped right onto a long engagement-bound relationship with, like a frog hopping off one lilypad to another (sort of a strange pleasant way of characterizing what at the time felt like being shat on and then flushed down a toilet and then dragged out the street gutter and back into another nearby ditch to rot).  that side story and side ending aside, in my (stupid, to the point where i wonder if it’s even worth writing about) dream i ended up somehow sitting with her, sitting RIGHT with her, and weirdly telling her all these things i had thought all these years and said to her in my head.  this girl i had never met but who haunted so many of my thoughts.  i guess i felt really comfortable talking with her because the S thing does not bother me anymore, i don’t flinch or even twitch inside at that sort of thought.  it’s more his friend / my former friend (see above...) that i still have baggage about.  and anyway as i was sitting with E i told her how those 2 years were really hard for me.  how when i saw her and who she was, i felt so inferior and small at the time, because i could totally see why someone in S’s shoes would fall in love with her, because i would too.  and i even sort of asked out loud, that i wondered why she had to come in the way she did, come onto him if she knew he was dating someone--i asked her this as if we were friends or something, as if she owed me anythign at all.  and in my dream i remembered that E had actually broken off her engagement with S (a fact which, when i found out about it years ago, had brought me much vindication and glee).  and she actually sheepishly told me she’d gotten a face transplant (it was like a portion of her cheek or something, so nothing cosmetic-affecting) and S had gone with her to the operation--meaning S had made the sacrifice of transplanting his own cheek into hers.  and she realized through that whole operation and him supporting her no matter what episode that she did in fact love him and want to marry him after all.  and when i heard that something in me sort of fell as i looked at her and then over several feet away at him, and i didn’t feel like i was her friend any more and i had to fake it after that, uncomfortably act unfazed by their reunion, and i was trying to think of how i could leave the party, until i woke up.

The New True: True Religion Emerges From Bankruptcy
After less than four months, True Religion Brand Jeans has emerged from Chapter 11 bankruptcy following negotiations with its key stakeholders, under a Plan of Reorganization approved by the Delaware Bankruptcy court on October 5, 2017.
According to its press statement, True Religion’s re-organization plan allows the California-based denim company to de-leverage its balance sheet, reducing its term loans from $471 million to $113.5 million and extending its debt maturities to 2022. Debt Service each year will be substantially reduced, clearing the way for continued investment and company growth.
“We would like to thank our consumers, our employees, vendors and suppliers for their unwavering support and continued dedication to the True Religion brand,” stated John Ermatinger, CEO. “With substantial debt burden removed, we are eager to turn our full attention to implementing our forward-thinking strategy, including improving our retail operations, new partnerships and growing the brand’s digital presence.”
Ermatinger added, “With the consummation of this restructure, we are very excited and poised for the future.”
Founded in 2002, True Religion says its crafted denim “speaks to the uniqueness found in all of us. Sparking individuality with quality fits and unique design details, True Religion recognizes denim as a universal necessity–invariably innovating its fits, washes and distinctive stitch, to deliver jeans entirely different from the norm. The brand also presents vintage-inspired knits, graphic tees and activewear.”
