i agree so much with your post about the abc show! Tbh the most I’ve seen is the show runner said personal drama between j/o didnt cause the s2 break up so r/g shippers say this means it was always gonna be that way but it’s not like the show runner is going to say yeah their personal drama got in the way so we had to take a new direction bc that’s unprofessional!! Like r/n were clearly troyella and if O didn’t rise to such famous heights they’d still be the leads/main ship imo
anon i'm so glad you get it, i was worried people wouldn't know what i was trying to say lol. i agree, i don't think tim would actually say either way whether the josh and olivia drama changed things, but i also think they were supposed to break up and get back together, again just like troy and gabriella. i honestly haven't really read any interviews with him so going off Pure Vibes i wondered if they had planned three seasons and the plots/ships would vaguely resemble the story beats of the three movies, if that makes sense? so in the case of r/n season 1 would be them doing the school musical together and getting together, season 2 would be a break-up/gotta go my own way, season 3 would be them ending up together. and then things got in the way, whether that was disney asking for certain things, the j/o irl break-up, olivia being busy, or the fandom. and btw i'm SO happy for olivia, she deserves all of the fame and acclaim she's got, but i do wonder what would've happened if she was still a main character. the entire concept of the kids going to camp feels like it was an excuse for nini not to be there lol.

Saw you were posting again and I was just wondering how all the fanfics you teased us with were going?!
Super late overdo answer, i know. And i wish i could say i’m back to fangirling and posting anything HSM i can, especially with HSMTMTS streaming. Unfortunately most of my postings are random reblogs i see when i do make it on. I haven’t even been able to watch more than the first episode of HSMTMTS because of how hectic it’s been.
As for my fanfics they are sadly on hiatus and will continue to be until further notice. The in-progress fanfics i’ve had on fanfiction.net as well as inkitt, as much as i’ve had a set plan with them and have tried to get back into them i can’t even remember the direction i was taking them in anymore. Part of that is because of how much i’ve had going on and how much is still going on, and i think that plays a part in with every time i even attempt to reread them to get back into the swing it fails. There is no focus on them and there hasn’t been for a while. As far as any nextgen ideas i’ve toyed with, i do still think about them sometimes. I imagine certain stories involving each character. I imagine certain relationships. I play a song on my iPod and it makes me think of some of the characters, whether it’s their personality or whether it’s the fangirl in me imagining the characters somehow performing the song. Hell i even imagine little cartoon chibi versions of these non-existent characters doing karaoke of The Greatest Showman. (Don’t ask.)
I think my problem with the nextgen fanfic specifically is, while i do have all these ideas, it’s twofold. The first problem is that there’s so many characters; it’s a lot happening and there’s so many possibilities that it’s difficult for me to write them all without feelings like something’s either being lost or inconsistent. The second half of the problem is, and this isn’t so much a problem for me as it is for the Wildcat fans, every time i think of HSM stories my thoughts always gravitate towards Chaylor. The majority of the stories in my head involving nextgen possibilities would revolve around their family. Most Wildcats that i know of would wanna read stories about Troyella’s kids because they’re the OTP of HSM. (Not to mention the Wildcats who are all about Tryan or Chyan.) But for me, my HSM OTP has always been Chaylor. And i guess, while it’s not an issue for me and i know some people would probably still read that, that’s not fair to the ones who wouldn’t be as interested. That’s not to say none of the other characters’ kids wouldn’t be involved in such a nextgen story, but for the ones who ship Chyan or would want the story to be a reflection of the HSM movies and be mostly about Troyella, i don’t know if i can do justice to that.
What i can do is share some of the ideas i’ve come up with, the ones that i know i can see about it. Or ideas that i’ve toyed with. Whether anyone would still be interested in reading those random posts and ideas, of course. And if anyone has any ideas to go off of that, or say suggest writing prompts...something to go off of to keep the ball rolling and keep the Wildcat fandom still going (and, admittedly, a few posts at a time would be a lot easier for me to focus on instead of one long @ss story) then that can be arranged. And until then i’ll do my best to attempt to pop on more and do more than just a couple of random reblogs.
I’m still a Wildcat...just more of an MIA one. Cause as the famous Troy Bolton once said, Once a Wildcat Always a Wildcat.

Questions for HSM III (Part V)
Tumblr media
Kudos to all the great boyfriends who bring their girlfriends pizza, and chocolate-covered strawberries.
The dialogue between Jimmie and Tiara should justify the immediate firing of Barsocchini. He should never have another job in screenwriting again.
On Stanford’s Freshman Honors Program
1- Ah, the famous Honors Program. Because when you get accepted, you don’t tell anyone. Well, to be more accurate, Gabriella shares this information with Taylor, who is delighted, proud and excited. This scene restores my faith in both Taylor and Gabriella; I like their friendship. (Although when Gabriella says “You can’t get rid of me that easily!”, I am despondent. What will it take?) But after telling her best friend, the next most important person would be her boyfriend.
Right?
2- This is the second time that Sharpay has intervened on behalf of Gabriella’s academic future. The first would be when she volunteered Gabriella for the Scholastic Decathlon, which allowed Gabriella to lead the nerds to victory. Now, she intervenes once again to demonstrate Gabriella’s significant achievement. Some people might find Sharpay’s scheming objectionable, but I’m cool with it. After all, Gabriella had no intention of telling Troy, so why not let Sharpay do the legwork? As for Sharpay’s delight that Gabriella will miss the show, this turns out to be well-placed: Gabriella bailed on Troy much later and had no intention of showing up. Again, I say Sharpay did the musical a massive favour by turfing out the weak link, huh?
By the way, I in no way mean to disparage Gabriella’s academic brilliance or achievements. Despite her whinging about the horror of being considered good enough for Stanford, she showed some real initiative in applying for their program. It’s her behaviour, and the noticeable lack of criticism she receives that infuriates me.
On The Travesty That Came Next
1- Oh, Ryan and Kelsi. I weep. I fume. I make Molotov cocktails and throw them at my laptop screen. WHY? JUST WHY? Could they not have gone to prom as friends? Could they not have gone with different people? Why ruin a perfectly decent friendship between them (Kelsi came a long way from pulling faces at Ryan in the first movie to being pleased for his potential shot at attending Juilliard) for the sake of a sham romance? It’s thoroughly insulting to both characters. What did they do wrong to be so abused by Barsocchini (who now must never find employment in film again)?
2- More importantly, WHY do people ship the so-called Ryelsi on the basis of this ONE, contrived and thoroughly fictitious scene? There is literally NO other evidence of the so-called Ryelsi being a possibility ANYWHERE else in the movie canon. Nowhere. It leaves me stuttering and speechless that fans believe these two can be a viable couple. (But then they also think that Troy and Gabriella would get married in future, so figures). I do not recognize the so-called Ryelsi at all. It does not exist. *fingers in ears, hums loudly* I gloss over this section.
I mean, I’m very open when it comes to pairings. I’ll consider anything that’s plausible and written well, whether I ship them or not. But this... *pulls hair* This is nonsense.
PLEASE explain the love of this alleged pairing to me?
LOVE “Be With You”. Troy and Gabriella’s performance would fool you into thinking they had the kind of relationship described by Kelsi’s lyrics. Alas, they do not. But an entertaining show nonetheless. Kelsi’s applause is too cute, man. She is very comfortable directing/playing the show and keeping things in order. Also great to see Ryan growing into his role as choreographer, which will justify his acceptance to Juilliard much later. Yes, a nice scene.
On The Boys
1- I don’t care too much for the next song, but I do like Troy-Chad friendship, so good to see them here. Of course, this scene just serves to highlight the fact that they’re on two different wavelengths here. Troy tries to communicate with Chad that he’s more than just Hoops, and Chad responds with “that’s not what I wanted to hear.” Oh dear me, Chad; please don’t let the small matter of Troy’s dreams, aspirations and concerns inconvenience you! Also notice his scoff when Troy quite reasonably states, “I just want my future to mbe my future.”
Wouldn’t it be nice if for once, Troy actually either 1)- asked Chad to back off, 2)- pointed out Chad’s hypocrisy? (Sadly, he’s too nice to do so!) This is the guy who says he doesn’t dance, now dancing his ass off in the last musical... and then pouring cold water over Troy’s possible interest in Juilliard. Is it possible to be this hypocritical? Do you, like, get a prize or something?
2- However, Chad does reveal something about Troy, that the latter is “like five different people”. This is very interesting; there are many different aspects to Troy’s character. He can be strategic (he is a top basketball player after all), he can be creative, he can contain his emotions, but he can also release them. Chad doesn’t understand any of this; it simply bemuses him. That is fascinating, worth exploring.
But it doesn’t involve Troyella, so I guess we’ll leave it aside.
On Gabriella’s Unending Arrogance- Stanford Honors Program Part II
Here we are, folks.
One cannot help but sigh as Troy happily strolls down the corridor, joking around with his buds (note how popular he is), thinking that nothing could possibly be better in his world, and then...
1- He does that stupid locker opening routine. Is he listening for bombs? Is someone locked inside? Okay, I kid.
And then...
2- Sharpay interrupts with her usual lack of consideration, almost slamming a metal door in his face. And again, I sigh again, watching Troy’s innocent surprise when he thinks Sharpay is genuinely taking an interest in his basketball, but finding out that it’s something else altogether. Why couldn’t she just leave him alone? Oh, yes: Queen Bitch. Just in case we had forgotten. But shouldn’t Sharpay get some credit here? Yes, yes; I know. She had Queen Bitch ulterior motives for doing so, wanted the show for herself, wanted to steal the spotlight. But had she not given Troy this crucial information, how long would it have been before he found out? Gabriella sure as hell wasn’t going to tell him. He’d have been wondering around wondering what on earth people were so excited about before he stumbled on this information, probably days after it leaked.
So... credit to Sharpay?
3- And now we reach one of the most upsetting parts of the movie, where Troy, after having found out that his own girlfriend couldn’t keep him updated on her plans, goes to the expense of buying pizza and chocolate covered strawberries for her own enjoyment. Don’t forget the ropes and basket. Special delivery indeed. And even better, they eat all the food first before getting to THE TALK. (Good man, Troy. Always eat the food before dropping the bombshell). Of course, Gabriella shushes him like he’s three years old. (I struggle to believe that Mrs Montez doesn’t know Troy keeps breaking and entering into her property presumably on a regular basis).
Anyway, Troy begins with a very reasonable question: “Your Freshman Honors Program at Stanford” (Damn American spelling. It’s Honour, people!). To which Gabriella replies in the most irritated, rude and insulting tone known to man, with NO GUILT whatsoever for concealing this information, “How did you hear about that?” As if Troy has inconvenienced HER by daring to discover something she should have told him. As if Troy had done something wrong by caring about her future plans. People, Troy has just brought her a picnic of her favourite foods with no strings attached (ignoring those used to lift the picnic basket, of course). He has just dedicated an evening to her. He could have spent the time fixing his truck, like he said. And in return for asking ONE very reasonable question, he gets treated like a nosy bastard?
Troy, why do you never stand up for yourself? Surely, he felt this was rude? Surely?
4- “A lot of people heard about it. But I wasn’t one of them. Why?” And I’ll just leave that there.
5- No, Troy; she was NOT trying to tell you that “the other day”. Why? Because it was “the other day”, implying there have been several days since and not a peep from your fair lady. She has no excuse. Find one: I dare you. We are treated to another onslaught of Gabriella’s chronic whining. Not that I don’t sympathize with her desire for stability, but that she has been thoroughly deceitful, unpleasant, rude and ungrateful throughout this scene and throughout her so-called relationship. Whether she knew what Troy would say (only words of endearment and encouragement-- how awful!) or not, she had an obligation to tell him! But no, Gabriella can never be wrong, isn’t that right, Barsocchini? Only Troy is wrong for loving her enough to let her follow her dreams and leave him behind.
Troy’s expressions of reserved disappointment, disagreement and even astonishment when Gabriella says she wants to stay in Albuquerque, and when she ludicrously claims “I always do the right thing” are hilarious. Because she is living on another planet. Troy is grounded, focused on his future, always thinking ahead. She is back in kindergarten. So Troy tries to pull her from Planet Kindergarten into reality. We are supposed to believe that this is so onerous for Gabriella and she is really struggling with her feelings. Troy appears to know this is a losing battle.
“I’m a lot better at goodbyes than you.” Now ain’t that the truth.
Did it ever occur to Troy, maybe even as an inkling, that the two of them were fundamentally incompatible? That Gabriella was actually quite immature? That she could be quite impervious to reason? I like to think it’s in his expression, but of course, Troy isn’t allowed to disagree with her vocally, because that would make him a massive jerk.
I’ll be back tomorrow, people.
TO BE CONTINUED.
