Story behind the song: I love the lyrics to this song, it speaks to me as a woman instrumentalist in a male dominated industry. It’s complex - what some view as respect through chivalry is actually offensive to me, in a lot of cases. Respect is difficult to define when you are working with so many cultures and different ideologies of what is good, right, and just. I just want folks to focus on the music.
