Thanos was defeated, but Infinity Gauntlet exploded and scattered the cosmic stones. The New York Sanctum immediately enacted a protocol to contain the wild magics trapping everyone inside. The universe may be safe for the moment but the stones still threaten millions in the barrier zone at the heart of the city, altering the area and it’s inhabitants in unpredictable ways.

❖ Lost Cause ❖

She’d spent the morning watching and waiting as Matt went through his usual routine. The guy was still going out and doing his day job, despite everything. Jessica had learned to like the hours alone when he left. She felt slightly less like a piece of shit who abused his kindness when he wasn’t around. But it was getting difficult to do much of anything, and Jessica’s own need to find her feet was more than she could ignore. She hadn’t dared set foot outside since her first attempt. Kilgrave had put the city on high alert for her. One cry of ‘Jessica Jones!’ from a stranger bolting towards her and a small crowd formed to give chase. She’d stayed out for some time giving them the run-around before slinking back to Matt’s place to hide.

She was a little more ready this time. Jessica had donned a dark hoodie, wearing it in the manner that best hid her face. Large sunglasses concealed what they could. She couldn’t depend on Murdock forever- especially not when Kilgrave was after him too. Jessica had waited well into the afternoon before coming to a firm decision. By the time she set foot outside the apartment, the winter sun had died, bringing a late afternoon darkness upon the city.

Dark, wary eyes scanned the sea of commuters that picked their way through the streets, each caught up in their own life and problems. Some stared, making the hairs at the back of Jessica’s neck prickle. Were they staring because he was controlling them? How many people out of the thick crowd were influenced by him? Jessica kept her head down and shoulders hunched, walking quickly.

Get to where you’re going. Make sure nobody follows.

A growing sense of discomfort hardened the edges of Jessica’s features as she entered the familiar building. She hadn’t thought about what she was going to say. She hadn’t thought about whether Trish would be angry, or even the potential that she was out or had company. She’d always been the social butterfly. Jessica cringed, dithering at the call system by the door.

Trish had every right to be upset. For a long time, it had been easier to keep her upset and angry; that way she’d been less inclined to get close- to get hurt. But now things were different. There was nobody else even worth considering turning to.

A hand extended to ring. A blue light signalled the camera going live with audio.

“Trish.” Jessica’s voice sounded through the system in something hollow and desperate. The silence was enough to cause her to cast a precursory glance over her shoulder.

“…It’s Jessica.” She clarified bleakly, no longer able to make eye contact with the camera.

“I need your help.”

When Thanos wiped out half the universe, it seemed that all hope was lost. However, months later, the Soul Stone mysteriously appeared on Earth without its fellow Infinity Stones. The remaining Avengers analyzed the Stone and derived a theory that the souls that had been ‘killed’ by Thanos had been transported to a pocket dimension within the Soul Stone. Tony Stark, the Iron Man, teamed up with Scott Lang, the Ant-Man, and developed a way to shrink people down to a sub-atomic level in order to enter the Soul Stone. Stark led a team into the Soul World to attempt to rescue the trapped souls, but they quickly found themselves trapped within the Stone with no way to return and no way to contact the ones outside. This is an AU MCU RP generally accepting all Marvel characters, including the Avengers, X-Men, Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D., the Defenders and others.
