LA County Fair Wraps up 2015 with Record Daily Attendance, More Community Impact & Lots of Surprise and Delight
POMONA, Calif.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--The 2015 LA County Fair wrapped its 19-day run, welcoming 1,276,817 guests with mind-blowing fun, museum-quality attractions and oodles of animals. LACF saw its highest average daily attendance since 2008 and on Saturday, Sept. 26 its biggest single-day attendance since 2007. Celebrating 93 years of education and entertainment, the Fair surprised and delighted Fairguests with new attractions like Popnology: From Science Fiction to Science Fact and returning favorites such as Luminasia and The Farm's Big Red Barn. And, of course, it wouldn't be a Fair without food, food and more food! This year's Fair was up 6 percent from the cumulative 23-day 2014 Fair; the comparative 19-day attendance saw an increase of 21.75 percent from 2014. LACF's 2015 highest single-day attendance was 110,728. "The energy level at the LA County Fair was electric this year with guests coming out in droves during the day and especially evenings," said President and CEO Jim Henwood. "Enjoyable evening temperatures brought out families, couples and friends. While thousands of guests enjoyed our Grandstand concerts, others poured into the carnival and exhibitions, and indulged in delicious Fair food." The End of Summer Concert Series was a huge hit with acts such as Chicago & Boz Scaggs, Train, Patti LaBelle & Chaka Khan, Lynyrd Skynyrd, Bell Biv Devoe, Alejandra Guzman, Jake Owen and Skillet.
It was the highest grossing series ever, in fewer days of programming. Food, shopping and The Farm continue to be the top reasons people come to the Fair. With more than 500 animals and nearly five acres of organically grown California specialty crops, The Farm not only drew extreme amounts of "aahhhs" for the cute barnyard critters but provided a good dose of education on agriculture, sustainability, gardening and animal care. Shopping vendors filled more than 600 spaces with toys, miracle pillows and the ultimate mops.
