@triliix (Continued from here)
“And here I thought you were trying to get away from the dude that’s been eye fucking you for the past fifteen minutes.” Richard said as he leaned down to her level in order for his voice to be heard over the noise of the loud club.
He’d seen the guy notice the woman since she first stepped into the area. Richard had gotten used to using reflective surfaces to scope out his surrounding area. It had originally started as a way to notice women he found attractive but it definitely had other uses.
“Well if you’re fine then I’m just going to go back to ignoring you.”

@triliix––––STARTER CALL! ( accepting ! )
Tumblr media
“It is MUCH too loud to be the silence in the dead center of the forest.”
HE SUSPECTS there are other gods present cavorting and making merry wherever they DAMN WELL please considering the fact that it was in a god’s nature to do as they wished without regard for the ramifications of their actions ( usually ). HE RUBS his temples, drink in his hand ( hot cocoa was always the best remedy for annoyances ) before he lets out a heavy breath turning slightly BUT ONLY VERY SLIGHTLY to address the person having approached him.
“IF you’re looking for whatever pandemonium is running amok, I would head due east.”

With it being spring, it was no surprise that rain was in the forecast. But Declan didn't need a weatherman to tell him that— He could feel it. The moisture in the air, the drop in temperature, the changes in the pressure. It wasn't something he woke up to, but he could tell by the lack of heat on his skin that it was cloudy when he was out and about. It was only confirmed later when the witch was back in the shop by a few regulars that had decided to brave the chill that was beginning to descend upon the little town. Despite that, customers came and went.
However, as the day wore on, Declan picked up on the increasing changes to his surroundings along with a comment here or there by a customer or two declaring how ominous and dark the clouds were looking before said clouds finally decided to release the moisture they'd been coveting. The light rain that fell drove most of the witch's customers next door to Loaf Around where they could get a hot beverage and leisurely enjoy a baked good while they waited out the weather. Declan didn't mind as a few of his regulars stayed behind to chat with him before heading out. A new customer had remained, however, and although he was curious he let her be for the time being while he caught up on some paperwork, emails, and set up appointments for his night-shift to take.
It wasn't until until the rain had become a roar outside that caught his attention from the desk that he realized that the weather outside had taken a turn for the worse, drawing him away from his spot and toward the panel of windows. He wasn't the only one, either.
"Wow, it’s getting pretty intense out there.” Turning toward the only other occupant of the shop with a smile, he made a query with a shrug of his shoulders, "I guess you're going to be here a while. Can I interest you in a cup of tea or some coffee?"

It was her. Her ‘ hero, ’ the one who ‘ saved ’ the fox from being stoned to death at that horrible village.
The days of tracking scents finally proved to be useful, for the fox was now leaping of joy.
Determined to repay her gratitude, as soon as the fox heard rustles of prey nearby, she immediately jumped into action.
The hunt was a success as usual. The problem now as to deliver her ‘ gift ’ to the silver-haired woman in the distance, without spooking her, which was something hard to do for a giant, nine-tailed silver fox like her.
For a long moment, the fox blankly stood there, not knowing what to do. But the fear that she might lose track of her hero again spurred her to just drop the dead deer in her mouth in front of Phedre and took cover.
After transforming back into her human form, Rosie held her breath as she locked her eyes on the figure in the distance, praying that she would accept her gift.

it seemed strange, however, being the one who supplied the weapons - hephaestus felt he had the right to comment.  fools or not, he knew well that he would continue making the swords that caused more problems than they did good.    ❝ of course they are ---- but once they hold steel in their hands . . . they think their foolishness disappears. they mistake it for bravery. ❞

She’s been following the stranger for a brief while, now... lingering just far enough back to avoid raising suspicion or concern, she hopes. Normally, she would never. But, there was something... odd. Something that piqued Amara’s curiosity.   “ Excuse me... “   Finally she called out.   “ Ma’am. May I speak to you, please? “

19. What is your favorite fact about your OC?
(I already listed one but I have a few so HAH I CAN DO IT AGAIN.)
She’s terrified of cars.  I don’t know why it’s so funny to me, but she just looks at cars and is like “that is a monster and I don’t like it one bit nope.”  She also doesn’t like trains or planes (when she sees them in the sky she’s just liek whY WOULD YOU GO UP THERE???? HUMANS????).  She doesn’t mind boats as long as they don’t try to catch her in their fishing nets.

“ As if you should apologize for that. “ A mild remonstration under her breath, the woman clearly had been in trouble. It hadn’t been hard to read her panic the moment they had collided. Phedre offered one of her long-fingered & thinly boned hands with a gesture towards an empty bench bordering the tavern wall. Her voice firm as if she wasn’t accustomed to even the most feeble of resistance when she spoke.   “ Here, sit. You won’t be harmed. “
Tumblr media
There was a moment of hesitation as Niamh looked at Phedre’s outstretched hand, as if she was unsure if she should accept it.  At last, she did, her gloved hand gripping Phedre’s as she pulled herself to her feet.  “Thank you.”  She certainly wasn’t going to argue and she did as she was told, taking a seat on the bench.
Niamh tried to brush off the dirt that now stained her skirt.  “I’m sorry for running into you,” she apologized again, “I was in a rush, and didn’t pay attention...”  She looked up at the other women, finally taking in her features.  There was an almost ethereal look about her.  One that Niamh found oddly soothing.
“My name is Niamh. What’s your name?”

Rosie’s dark eyes sparkled back into life as soon as she entered the tavern. It was times like this when she felt alive. Eavesdropping on other people’s conversations, watching people wind down helped her take her mind off of her own troubles.
It was days like this, when Rosie got to see the vibrant sides of life, that made her tighten the grip that she had on that sliver of hope, that someday, she could stop running for her life, settle down and become a part of this hustle and bustle.
Unfortunately, Rosie couldn’t indulge herself in observing other people today. Like most, no, all places that she’s lived before, the tavern was another temporary place. But, if she got lucky today, she might be able to finally settle down somewhere, permanently.
All she needed to do is negotiate with the person on the other side of the tavern, whom Phedre had arranged to take the two women to somewhere where their troubles couldn’t follow them.
Phedre’s answer-which Rosie saw coming from a mile away-only made her heart sink because out of guilt. ( After all, Rosie had kind of forced Phedre to make the broker meet them at the tavern. )
Tumblr media
“ Trust me, I’ve got this. ” Before Phedre could react, Rosie made her way to the broker at the other side of the tavern.

I have learned to watch everything die.
Tumblr media
It is a sentiment that Niamh understood all too well.  Living longer than mortals brought with it a bittersweet sorrow, particularly when she grew close to any of them.  Creatures like her and Phedre watch as the world dies, crumbles, changes -- while they themselves remain stagnant.
Her hands twist the hem of her blouse, teeth worrying her bottom lip as she mulls over the words.
“As have I,” she said at last.  “It brings a pain to my heart that I cannot explain.”

Missed Connections

Tumblr media
“Are you okay?” Adrian repeated himself, waving a hand to get the woman’s attention. The night air had turned cold, and even with his hands shoved in his pockets, the tips of his fingers were turning blue. “I think the bus is running late...or it took off early. Either way, if we stay out here, we’re probably going to end up human popsicles.”

“ are you sure you’re okay?  ” there’s a trace of softening in her features, still lines easing towards concern as she eyed the young woman with care. far too often she had seen what happened to such creatures. one of many casualties from her mother’s domain. death. phedre lived & breathed it, could almost predict it as moved among the mortals. there was no escape anymore. as if there ever had been for her.
Tumblr media
The bruises and scrapes stung her skin.  Her knees ached from her tumble, and she was exhausted.  She’d stumbled into the other woman by mistake, fleeing some men who had thought they could rob her or worse, but she’d managed to avoid them.  Barely.  Yet when she’d turned a corner she almost ran over the pale haired woman and had fallen to the ground.
It took her a moment to catch her breath.  Finally, Niamh gave a small nod.  “I’m...I’m all right. I’m sorry. I didn’t mean to startle you so.”
