jason’s steps were heavy, each one sinking deep into the damp forest floor as he made his way through the woods. the weight of the bodies slung over his shoulders barely registered anymore, their blood slicking his skin and dripping in a slow, rhythmic pattern. the trees were familiar and forever silent to the violence that unfolded beneath them. he had been out since dawn, hunting intruders who dared to step foot on his land. now, as the sky darkened, tinged with the dying light of day, jason’s focus shifted to one thing—returning to suhani.
the blood was thick and sticky as it pooled down his arms, soaking him. he could feel its tacky pull with every movement, the smell of iron clinging to him like a second skin. the bodies, broken and limp, swayed with his strides, their faces unrecognisable. he paid them no mind now.
the abandoned buildings came into view as he cleared the last line of trees, their crumbling facades a familiar sight. they marked the border of his world and hers, a meeting place where he would always find her waiting. his pace quickened slightly, the tension of the day still clinging to him, not fully shed despite the slaughter.
as jason neared the edge of the clearing, he paused. his eyes scanned the perimeter, searching through the fading light for the familiar figure he always expected to see.
A lithe hand reaches forth, pinching a bright red strawberry between fingertips, before giving a slight tug. The stem rips gently and the strawberry breaks free to be brought up towards the glint of the dying evening sun. Suhani smiles then, before she bites down upon the red flesh and feels the ripened juice fill her mouth. It is sweet with only a little bit of tang to it—something perfect, delectably so. She flicks the empty stem away, over her shoulder, before she begins to pluck more, filling up her hands with the rest.
The air has grown still all the while, carrying no hint of screams upon the wind as it does every so often on bleak days like these. Suhani takes her treasured bundle as she stands to move out from behind the house, away from where the garden sits. It is only then that she spies Jason in the clearing. Hardly a thought is given to what he carries. Often they are all the same to her: those who hardly respect the nature that give them life in the first place. But she sees him, and only him, her smile is a permanent fixture even now.
❛ They have ripened quite beautifully, see? ❜ Suhani says, holding up a strawberry once close enough for him to look for himself. ❛ Here, have a taste. ❜ Held by the stem, she lifts the strawberry up higher, towards his mouth and awaiting the mask to be lifted.

What Happened to Our Love
Thor x OFC (Karley) aka me bc I needed a name lol
Summary: The snap leaves Thor a shell of the God he once was. Karley was pushed away, he didn't deserve her. What happens when the years have passed and she found love again?
Word count: 2.1k
Warnings: Extremely angsty. All angst. Slight sex mention, but no smut.
A/N: Long long ago, in ancient times, I got request for some angsty Thor that went like this, “Could I request a Thor reader where he asks her to marry him but she turns him down and then he gets really angry and it’s kinda angsty?” submitted by @bxcksdoll. I decided to finally take the mental energy to write it and I paired it with a challenge by @thorfanficwriter that requires a ofc!! I thought I was fun! Not what I normally do but I did it!! Prompt is What happened to our love.
Masterlist
He pushed away, so much so he could barely look at her. He couldn’t bear to look at himself. A failure. A let down. Unworthy.
He was unworthy of anyone’s pity. Unworthy of her love. Karley deserved better. He couldn’t protect her. He wasn’t strong enough. His mind was lost from that day, the unbearable weight of his loss hung like a dark greying cloud that never ran out of rain. He couldn't feel her eyes showing him love and sorrow, all he felt was her eyes baring a made up look of hate, one that she could never truly give. He couldn’t be near her, be in the same room as her because it brought him a silent pain that left her in his rearview mirror.
Karley was persistent in her words and her actions. She told him she loved him every day verbally, and she showed him every day mentally and physically hoping he would see past the loss and finally see her in front of him. She had suffered the loss as well, but she was not going to let him be added to the mix so she pushed aside the shock and mourning and worked on not losing him. She gave him everything she had. She fed him, bathed him, spoke promises to him that she would never leave, that he would recover, they both would.
He didn’t want to see her that night. She brought him dinner but he locked the door. He spoke harsh words coursing through the door, wishing she would hate him but she could never. She knew the words were sprung from a form of self hatred, one he was insistent on extending to her presence.
When she woke the next morning, the tray of food was left untouched, kicked aside in the open, vacant door way. She peeked her head inside noticing the mess that ensured his allotted placement. But it was vacant of her king, her God, her love.
She wandered, screaming for him. He couldn’t have. He would never do this to her, promised he would never leave unless she asked it of him, but he lied. He was not allowed to leave her like everyone else. As much as she hated it, she needed him. He was her purpose in this new world, to care for him and to love and protect his fragile mind and soul.
Karley screamed, anger coursing through every inch of her nerves, unable to contain the reaction. She tore through the room, ripping apart the remaining evidence of his presence as he had done so to her. It was the picture of how her heart felt as if it was being torn apart inside. It was broken, but it held the audacity to continue beating, pumping blood through her veins as did his belongings, reminding her that what was once here is gone.
He left you.
As much as it tortured her, she wouldn’t stop. She slept in his bed every night, reminiscing of the days he would profess his love to her, claiming her as his princess, treat her with the utmost loyalty. The nights he would have her mewling his name in ecstasy, proclaiming his heart in a breathless verse. The days he would tease her, joke and play in a manner that had her laughing till red in the face, filling her eyes in awe.
The days passed where she would numbly yearn for his return, springing unwanted tears when he was mentioned or thought of. The team should have known better by now. She gave up looking nearly a year in, he didn’t want to be found.
Steve watched her slowly dissipate herself away, turning into a shell of the girl who was once the life of the team, the female counterpart to the Godly asset. Full of life and wit. He tried to speak with her, almost giving up until she came to the realization that this is what Thor had done to her, she was doing it to Steve, the man who was once her second hand partner in crime, her late night cheat meal oreo buddy.
Steve came to her one morning bringing strawberries, her favorite fruit filled with such energy and flavor. Karley let him into her mind, apologizing for her behavior. The whole team lost their livelihood, she could no longer be so selfish. She cried in his arms, wailing at her loss of the love of her life, questioning why everything happens for a reason. What was the reason? He shed tears at her peril, his partner, his joyful sister that deserved so much more.
She made a pact to better herself from this morning forward. They both were going to clean up and stop bathing in sorrow. Karley met Steve downstairs a few hours later, ready to go outside and bathe in the heat, in the sunlight that felt like a curse floating through the depression of a city.
The routine did good for them both. The vitamin D helped find the light at the end of their tunnel. He was her companion, the one she needed to breathe the breath of fresh air with. She jogged with him, feasted with him, shared a bed with him. They both confided in each other, needed each other. It became good. The best thing for them both, the light in each others world.
That was until Thor was found. Word he had made a return to New Asgard was wafting through the airspace while the team was crowding around the speaker phone call. He was back to torture her, to feed into her soul with rage and curiosity.
Steve and Karley agreed to not ponder and prod at his location. She came to the conclusion that if he cared for her even in the slightest, he would have returned to her for the sake of the aftermath she faced.
Steve saw red when the look on her face returned from years ago. He was not to let this man ruin what they have built in each other.
She lived the year on with the super soldier, happier than she had ever been. She bared his child with want, sported his love on a light catching ring that found it way to her finger. Though a marriage seemed preposterous in the times, it was the declaration of the promise that meant the most. He promised to love her through her ever dragging lows and her energy promised highs. Words that had been spoken to her before but the healing in her soul was one that allowed trust to sink back in. Trust that Steve would never do that to her, and she would never think of doing it to him.
The day that Bruce was in cahoots with locating the God and finding him was the day her curiosity got the best of her. She was never to leave Steve, she couldn’t. But she deserved her answers, especially with the promise of greater, recovering times to come.
Steve followed with a kiss as Karley lead herself inside the home that was described as ‘the Kings’. Three and a half waited outside the door in respect for her. Though it was easy to eavesdrop for them, the thought was what counted.
He stood in all his glory, frozen in fear as the long lost woman neared him in the comfort of his own makeshift resort. Her line of sight was fierce into his own shining blue eyes that had never changed in all the years. He cowered in light of her gaze, never wavering from his eyes. His shame was filled to the brim. She neared him with shallow footsteps, noting the look of his home, the smell of his home, the friends in his home, and the God who stood before her- in his home.
Her voice was quiet, taut in the beginning. She spoke of her love for him, never ending, never could end, even in his lowest of lows. He admired her strength as she spoke her hurt, voice gaining volume and passion. The angry tears that seeped from Karley’s eyes for her own past self, for a lover that didn’t seem to care for her anymore. He stared in awe of her glowing healthy stature, unable to get a word in, not yet feeling as if he deserved a word yet or ever.
Thor’s mind was unsafe. It raced with contradiction as she spilled her words that mirrored themselves with love and hate. She loved him, she hated him. His mind was not one that could be labeled as stable. He saw regret when he looked at her, wishing her love was never ending as it had once been. He was clouded by the thought of her love being what it once was. It could be there again, she could love him as she did. Karley said it herself, she still loves him, but it was mixed upon words that were a blur to his ears. She loved him.
Before her words came to an end, he interrupted her. Proclaiming his love for her, but she could not take him seriously. He was ill, mentally. He needed to find himself again. He had been buried in so many layers that he was gone and he couldn’t reach the surface anymore. All he could think was that she loved him, and he loves her.
You loved him. And he loves you.
What else matters?
“Marry me?” His words were so filled with hope. What had Karley spoken other than the words, she loved him. His eyes and mind were glazed with the hallucination. In the split second he spoke he was flashed with her love from years ago, the passion that filled both their actions. He longed for it again. But he was blocked from the dark times. They didn’t exist in his mind.
“I have found new love Thor, I will not marry you.” Karley’s words were so filled with astonishment that he would say such a thing. How could she ever.
Her Steve was only yards away, forever loving her as she loved him. Forever loving their child that was being held in his arms only yards away. There was no one to care for the two year old so she was tagged along with. Her beautiful blue eyes shone with the promise of Steve and Karley’s own journey together. Steve held James in his arms while he listened to her exchange inside the walls. Jamie’s hands were clapping lightly over Steve’s cheeks to entertain herself while he listened intently, ready to hand her to Bruce so he could intervene.
“But you said you loved me.” Thor’s voice held deep venom filled with betrayal, eyes catching onto the shining ring placed delicately around Karley’s finger. He stalked forward a few steps, eyes racing with thoughts.
“I wish I could stop, because you don’t deserve it.” It was a battle she fought everyday up to this very moment, though it was blinded at times when baby James made her appearance.
His voice was roaring with anger. His emotions were not in control. He was not the same love, the love that was fabricated in her mind of a God that no longer exists. He was shaking with confusion, no longer in control.
Steve decided now was the time to step in, she was not to be alone in the house with someone who had that much uncontrolled power at his will. Steve didn’t know what he was going to step in on, was not prepared for the changed man, though he didn’t hesitate to push her behind him.
“You,” Thor’s voice was laced with poison at new body in the room, Thor knew Steve was the one who stole Karley’s heart. Steve lept to action as Thor took an ill timed swing at him. Thor was no match, not while his mind was so clouded. One’s mind and body must cooperate to finesse a winning spar, Thor was not up to par with Steve anymore. One day he would find his peace.
Thor sat on his knees in defeat, looking up at the super soldier as if he was superior. His eyes strained with tears pleading with Karley to love him. His frame racked with sobs, all his regret was coming to the surface on the floor of his dirty makeshift home. He was broken and needed help.
Karley planted herself next to Thor, glaring at Steve as he made warning eyes at her movement towards the man that was once a threat in the past minutes. She grasped his cheeks making him look at her face. His head preened into her touch, it’s been so long since he has felt the delicate affection of another.
“I have not come here to mourn with you, or fight with you. Though I have unanswered questions, those will have to wait until you are well. I have come to ask for your help, Thor. We need you.”
