obsessed with the dynamic between Scully and the Gunmen when Mulder isn't around, it's kinda just. she's somewhere between exasperated and laughing at them. it's the same and yet completely different than it is with Mulder. they are unified in their respect for her. she has to keep them out of trouble. they bumble around trying to help her. she ends up helping them instead. they all would die for her. she is aware of this and mildly endeared by it but also like "please don't". it's so chaotic. Scully also would probably die for the three of them. she solely talks to Byers 90% of the time bc he's got the one and only braincell.

that's a nice dozen of favorite episodes. since i pretty much suck at remembering names or episodes i just went through the episode guide and wrote down all that i remember loving.

honorable mention to "Pusher" for ripping my heart out and for properly destroying me. same goes for "Irresistible". also shout out to "Millennium" for giving me the strongest physical reaction i have ever had by watching any piece of media.

Also Detour and Post Modern Prometheus should be mentioned. they are classics. also rain king... I HAVE TO STOP NOW! I LOVE THEM SO MUCH

favorite season: s6, my beloved. right off the bat, we’ve got drive (a top-ten ep, imo). and vince gilligan continues his streak of brilliance with tithonus, and a couple of collaborative projects (dreamland, monday, three of a kind). there’s msr (triangle, the rain king, arcadia), and a couple of outstanding character studies (how the ghosts stole christmas, field trip). even the mythology is halfway decent. but the season’s also more than just the sum of its parts… coming off of a blockbuster film and having just made the move from vancouver to la, the show doesn’t miss a beat. it’s the most fun, but it’s also the most self-aware. that’s what makes it, unequivocally, my favorite.

favorite episode: bad blood! a rashomon effect written and executed to absolute perfection, i’ve rewatched it maybe more than any other ep of television. ever.

favorite romantic ship: msr, period.

favorite family ship: i’m assuming this would mean my favorite familial relationship because, you know, we’re not tryna make it weird. but i’ve gotta go with (dana) scully and melissa, i’d always wished we could’ve seen more of those two before missy’s death.

favorite friend ship: it’s still msr. call it what you want; soulmates, twin flames, etcetera. they’re near-perfect opposites, holding one another accountable and challenging each other to be better investigators/partners/individuals, every single day. each is the other’s tether, the only other person in the world who honestly and truly sees them. and at the end of the day, the fact that they’re in love is just a bonus.

worst ship: the day i see scully/csm fic on this site is the day i log off, forever.

hello! I want to rewatch some of the x files (keyword being some, like a couple episodes a season. I don’t have time for 9 seasons and 2 movies lol) but I’ve only seen the show once and was wondering if you or anyone who sees this ask had certain episodes to recommend from each season that would capture the essence of the show/overall plot? thanks!

hi! i might be the wrong person to ask for this lol because my view of the show is so varied. if you're looking for mostly plot stuff, you could always stick to mytharc, but i personally think some of the best episodes are NOT mytharc. so i'm gonna make a very subjective list of the episodes i think are most important--some because of mytharc and some because they're just fun. i'll put a * by mytharc stuff and bold some that are my personal favorites, but i'll really try to stick to the standouts. anyways!

Eugene Victor Tooms from Squeeze and Tombs, Luther Lee Boggs from Beyond the Sea, Robert Patrick Modell from Pusher, The Great Mutato from The Post-Modern Prometheus,  and Guy Mann from Mulder and Scully Meet the Were Monster.  The scariest monster for me was The Band-Aid Nose Man in Home Again.  He was terrifying!  For the first time ever for me, there were a few episodes in season 10 that actually had some moments that gave me the creeps.  That doesn’t usually happen!
