LONDON -- The United States men's wheelchair basketball team beat Germany 57-46 Wednesday to advance to the semifinals at the Paralympic Games.
Edinboro graduate Trevon Jenifer had two points and five rebounds for the United States in the quarterfinal game.
The United States will meet Australia, a 76-53 winner over Poland, in the semifinals and is assured of playing for a medal. Australia won the gold medal at the 2008 Games in Beijing, where the United States finished fourth.
The United States led 14-11 after one quarter and the teams were tied at 37 after three quarters. Jenifer made it 39-37 with his only field goal of the game, sparking an 11-0 U.S. run to start the quarter.
Jenifer started the game and played 27 minutes, 42 seconds.
The United States team is coached by Edinboro wheelchair basketball coach Jim Glatch. The U.S. trainer is Michael Carr of Meadville.
