The Importance of Tree Guards: Protecting Your Trees and Your Community
Tumblr media
Trees are an essential part of any community, providing shade, beauty, and a host of environmental benefits. They also require care and protection to thrive, especially in urban areas where they are exposed to a range of threats. One of the most effective ways to safeguard your trees and your community is to install tree guards. Tree guards are protective barriers that surround the base of trees, shielding them from damage caused by human activity, animals, and harsh weather conditions. They also help to prevent soil compaction and erosion, which can have a negative impact on tree health.
In this article, we'll explore the importance of tree guards, and how they can help you protect your trees and preserve the natural beauty of your community. Whether you're a homeowner, a community leader, or a business owner, understanding the benefits of tree guards is essential for maintaining a healthy and thriving urban environment.
Tumblr media
What are tree guards?
Tree guards are enclosures that protect the base of trees from various kinds of damage. They are typically constructed from materials such as metal, plastic, or wood, and are designed to prevent soil compaction and erosion, as well as damage caused by animals, vehicles, and pedestrians. Tree guards are essential for ensuring the long-term health of trees in urban environments, where they are exposed to a range of threats.
Tree guards come in a range of shapes and sizes, and can be custom designed to fit the specific needs of your trees. They can be constructed from a range of materials, including recycled materials, natural materials such as wood or bamboo, or more durable materials such as metal or plastic. Some tree guards are designed to be decorative, adding an aesthetic element to your landscape, whilst others are purely functional in design.
Installing tree guards can be a simple and effective way to protect your trees and improve their overall health. By preventing soil compaction and erosion, tree guards help to ensure that your trees have access to the nutrients and water they need to thrive. They also protect the base of your trees from damage caused by animals, vehicles, and pedestrians, which can cause long-term damage to your trees.
Why are tree guards important?
Trees are an important part of any community, providing a range of environmental, social, and economic benefits. They help to improve air quality, reduce noise pollution, and provide shade and beauty to urban areas. Trees also help to reduce the urban heat island effect, which can have a significant impact on the health and well-being of urban residents.
However, trees in urban areas are exposed to a range of threats, including soil compaction, erosion, and damage caused by human activity, animals, and harsh weather conditions. Tree guards are an effective way to protect your trees from these threats and ensure their long-term health.
Tree guards help to prevent soil compaction and erosion by creating a barrier between the soil and the surrounding environment. This helps to ensure that your trees have access to the nutrients and water they need to thrive, and prevents long-term damage to the soil structure.
Tree guards also protect the base of your trees from damage caused by animals, vehicles, and pedestrians. This is especially important in urban areas, where trees are often located in high traffic areas and are exposed to a range of threats.
Benefits of using tree guards
Using tree guards has a range of benefits for both your trees and your community. Here are some of the key benefits:
Protects your trees from damage Tree guards are an effective way to protect your trees from damage caused by human activity, animals, and harsh weather conditions. By creating a protective barrier around the base of your trees, tree guards help to prevent soil compaction and erosion, and protect your trees from damage caused by vehicles and pedestrians.
Improves tree health Tree guards help to improve the health of your trees by preventing soil compaction and erosion. By creating a barrier between the soil and the surrounding environment, tree guards help to ensure that your trees have access to the nutrients and water they need to thrive.
Enhances the aesthetic appeal of your landscape Tree guards can add an aesthetic element to your landscape, particularly if they are designed to be decorative. By choosing a tree guard that complements your landscape design, you can enhance the overall aesthetic appeal of your landscape.
Helps to reduce maintenance costs By protecting your trees from damage, tree guards can help to reduce the maintenance costs associated with tree care. This can include the cost of tree removal, pruning, and other maintenance tasks.
Contributes to a healthier community Trees provide a range of environmental benefits, including improving air quality, reducing noise pollution, and reducing the urban heat island effect. By protecting your trees with tree guards, you can help to contribute to a healthier and more sustainable community.
Conclusion Trees are an essential part of any community, providing a range of environmental, social, and economic benefits. However, trees in urban areas are exposed to a range of threats, including soil compaction, erosion, and damage caused by human activity, animals, and harsh weather conditions. Tree guards are an effective way to protect your trees from these threats and ensure their long-term health.
There are a range of tree guards available on the market, each with its own unique benefits and drawbacks. Choosing the right tree guard for your trees depends on a range of factors, including the size and location of your trees, the level of foot traffic in the area, and your budget.
Using tree guards has a range of benefits for both your trees and your community, including improving tree health, enhancing the aesthetic appeal of your landscape, and contributing to a healthier and more sustainable community. By understanding the importance of tree guards and following best practices for installation and maintenance, you can help to protect your trees and preserve the natural beauty of your community for years to come.

Another worl building sheet for Gris and Fauve's story, this time focused on Fauve's origins !
So Fauve is as it was shown previously not human, or at least no totally. She's actually mixed with humans and spirits.
When the disasters happened, the spirits (who were only believed to be from legends and stories) appareared physically to protect the world and the environment.
Fauve's tribe, her ancestors who survived this catastrophy, developped a strong bond with the spirits. Together they became guardians to protect nature.
The spirits gave to Fauve's ancestors the ability to turn into spirit forms too, which gave them some visible changes on their human bodies as well. They were no longer humans anymore but a new kind.
Every spirit is different. The spirit forms doesn't appear from the start, Fauve never turned into her spirit form for example. (the one I drew isn't hers, it's just a beast I liked to draw as an example-)
They all live in a huuge tree (no they don't drink tea there :]]] )

Welcome, non-plant beings, my creatures of night and nonsense, my dear audience, to this weird and wonderous collection of mine.
Tumblr media
I promise you won't be told a story with an answer, with some "here's how I fixed my life & the journey it took to get there" I promise that there won't be a "hope to get better" which makes now feel so stark in contrast. I promise I wont make it seem simple or linear or a sudden "aha moment" to make things suddenly seem clear.
What I promise is a story, to the best of my ability, where there are no weeds to pull. no seeds to plant, no fruits to pick. The garden will grow and die, change & cycle back to the beginning. And through it all, in this moment with the dappled sun reflecting off the dew, the weeds in a thick blanket, forgotten fruit as a feast for the birds - we are wild and it is beautiful, no matter how much they want a cultivated, perfectly trimmed and oh-so-stale-garden.
----
TL;DR - I'm currently in a Link Click hyperfixation, and I my main WIP is the Land of the Fallen Fairies. I also have a biology fanfiction and a teddy bear nightmare warrior story on the side. And I like being asked about character analysis, whether that be my own characters or any character from this list + characters from LInk Click
-----
How the fae/faer/faerself pronouns work
Open to tag games and asks and... literally anything.
Name's Noor/Noorie btw. Closeted genderfluid and aspec (queer platonic/split attraction model... or whatever this is). Pronouns are they/them, it/its and anything fancy.
----
Each of the subsections leads to masterposts for everything! (The intro post got waaayyy tooo long)
The Land of the Fallen Fairies.
A nature-themed commentary on the pursuit of happiness and fixing yourself to deserve that happiness, told by an overthinking, unreliable, houseplant narrator.
Zine
Uquiz
TW: self-hatred, suicidal thoughts, and self-deprecation.
Anuli's story collection.
Anuli's (and my) favorite stories from around tumblr
Jujutsu Kaisen Hyperfixation
As the name suggests, I am hyperfixated. I have also written essays analyzing these characters. Be very afraid. And/or come suffer with me /pos
Also also, for those who don't want to see any JJK smut, this blog should be safe for you! <3 I ship Satosugu but in a... transcend labels, queer platonic flavor sort of way. And I flipflop on itafushi. Either way they are soul mates and transcend labels. Found family dynamics and everlasting friendships/comfort people are peak fiction for me.
Link Click Hyperfixation
They are my everything. They can live in my head rent free foreverrr.
Tumblr's houseplant garden.
Growing a garden of houseplants based off this weird thing called existence, "planted" by others from tumblr.
Fantasy Frog and Toad
A story about two princes cursed to be a frog and toad because they couldn't decide on whether to be self-determined and individualistic, or be traditional and family oriented, because why can't you be both?

#link click <-- the collection of link click things I shall hoard like a dragon
#the land of the fallen fairies <-- everything related to the land of the fallen fairies (following this one would be a good idea if you want random updates, or you can join the tag list <3)
#feelings are weird <--- random snippets of Russian Roullet of whether I'll snap or not, along with some sideways spiraling. (this is different from the next tag, but it takes a lot of time to explain how so.)
#I'll fill my grave with fanart <-- doom posting specifically. Apparently I've learned how not to snap and I want to return that but the manager won't answer my phone calls.
#Anuli's favorite stories <-- Stories that I and Anuli like. (Give or take, Anuli faerself has a slightly different taste than I do... but here's the tag)
#plant posting <-- whenever I talk about houseplants
#Noorie listens to songs on loop <-- My inconsistent music taste (you get iphone piano ballads... just saying)
#Noorie infodumps. Be very afraid. <--- My rambling tag
#jjk <-- I reblog stuff without tags, so everything of mine that's jjk related will have this tag

book ask 5 and 11?
ooooo good ones anon.
5. What genre did you read the most of?
definitely fantasy. i made my way through a bunch of discworld books during the summer, which was wonderful (and i highly rec any of sir terry pratchett's books but especially the night watch ones). i also did a nice re-read of tamora pierce's song of the lioness and protector of the small books. i'm a sucker for those two series out of all the tortall books, they're just too good. and the first book of protector of the small is out as a graphic novel now, and i read that, which was AWESOME. and a lotttt of other miscellaneous fantasy reads! one of my faves was under the whispering door, by tj klune, the author of the house in the cerulean sea, and it had me WRECKED (in a good way). and i'm about to start the sequel to priory of the orange tree and am thrilled! we'll see if i finish before the new year though. in 2024 fantasy def won in terms of quantity lol
Tumblr media
11. What was your favorite book that has been out for a while, but you just now read?
mmmmMMMM probably the wild robot, by peter brown. it came out in 2016, and was recently adapted into an animated film. i hadn't been able to get my hands on a copy at my work (a library) because it's so insanely popular with the middle grade audience, but i finally managed to corral a copy for one day and read it in one fell swoop. it's a lovely story about perseverance and discovering and understanding of self that i bet makes the protagonist, a robot who crashes onto an isolated island, feel relatable to a lot of kids. i also think the way it doesn't condescend to them about nature and the circle of life probably has a kind of subconscious appeal, because many books would bend the laws of nature in order to make sure that none of the animal characters die and "traumatize" the young audience. it presents those topics really mindfully and realistically, and even adds a sense of humor, but doesn't make it feel taboo, which i would argue it shouldn't, because that is how nature actually works. stylistically, it def appeals more to a middle grade audience than an adult one, but i really enjoyed it anyway and can definitely see why it's so popular. the movie was great too but kind of re-cushioned the circle-of-life stuff again which i found to be my only disappointment. it was beautiful though, and if you've read the book and liked it i definitely do recommend it!!!
thanks for the ask anon!!! 🥰

🖊 Dorito?
‘Enigmas of Paldea, File #11 Iron Hunter: An AI Went Rogue?!
This peculiar creature's name comes from an invention in the enigmatic Violet Book.
Theorised to be the result of a research project attempting to revive the extinct Hisuian Decidueye, using what information remained of it, and Alolan Decidueye as a base. However, something went horribly wrong, and it began attacking everything in sight.
In addition to its heartless nature, the cannons on its wings and its powerful legs make it a dangerous foe. Eyewitnesses report that it will not give up on its prey until it has succeeded in eliminating them.’
Dorito is the specific Iron Hunter referenced in this Violet book entry! Its original purpose was to observe and preserve Pokémon habitats, but due to an error in its coding, it sees all living beings as a threat to be dealt with.
However, upon arriving in the present, Dorito sustained major damage, both internal and external, meaning it is far less of a threat now! (Maybe even, the internal damage will fix some of its buggy systems, causing it to be less hostile… only time will tell!)

Had a really strong thunderstorm move through just a little bit ago
The power had been out for almost two hours now
And worst of all:
Major damage was done to our willow tree that I’m pretty sure is host to a colony of Good Neighbors
It’s already sick and now it’s broken

Echoes of the Hollow Woods: Thistlegrim’s Gift
Thistlegrim is neither entirely beast nor spirit. It is said that the creature possesses an uncanny ability to perceive emotions, responding to fear with comfort and to malice with swift, unseen mischief. Those who earn its favor might glimpse its curious, luminous eyes peering from the safety of its tree-hollow home. Legends tell of a wandering bard who once on a crisp autumn evening, as the…
