Following their win at the Olympic Trials, the boys had several days off. In the book it is described how they spent every afternoon they at an island owned by the New York Athletic Club called Huckleberry Island. Described in the The Boys in the Boat by Daniel James Brown, the island was “twelve acres of paradise,” with “small granite coves” and “stone ledges.” An environmental refuge, the boys found “they were in their element in a way they could never be in Manhattan for all its glitter and glamour.” The island was a taste of home and they adored it.

The boys would swim in the cool water and then laze about on the “warm flat slabs of granite.” They would horse around with one another or explore the island, but there wasn’t much else
And yet “Bobby Moch tried to organize activities, hustled the boys about, and got unceremoniously tackled and tossed in the water three or four times for his trouble.“
What activities? What could he have possibly wanted to organize? Trust me, I know all about making your own fun in the woods like I’m from BFE in the Midwest. But I feel like my answers are not what Bobby would have had in mind. If I could ask Bobby one question, it might just be ‘what activities?’
If you have any ideas, please let me know. I’m trying to come up with ideas to put in my current WIP for legitimate plot reasons.

totk cataclysm event wasnt just a great (but utterly missed) opportunity to change the map in techincally little ways that has drastic consequences both in stakes and in gameplay (like i mentioned before, flooding the gerudo desert would have meant devastating consequences for its ecosystem- like imagine little islands of sand still poking out, acting as a sort of last doomed refuge for sandseals- but also cahnged the entire gameplay of it, good chance to introduce some neat new ways to surf on water like a new ridable creature or an ice shield freezing a path while you surf on it, the gerudo being forced to save the city from drowing in various means or now living on the roofs, trying to adapt by building boats ect - also call back to older games?? since totk loves that so much ..-, vah naboris serving as the savest refuge being high above the water, even if non functional; similarly takign away ALL water from the zora region, gaving it all dry out would imemdiately turn into something way different and could mean death for the zora- forcing them to move to the lower parts of akkala for example- maybe vah ruta is still halfway functioning bc the faith the zora have to mipha, dorephan and sidon is, while not enough to keep it fully functional, but enough to generate some water so the most stubborn or brave zora set up around it like a last oasis; i know its somewhat done with death mountain but the gorons dont really suffer from it bc their only problem is a drugged rock that makes them mean and lazy ..- what about collapsing or exploding it, leaving a large crater that over the course of the game could start to grow with plant life since vulcanic earth is so fertile- some never seen before ones that was dormant in the lava and now that its cooled off is springing to life, which might seem good at first but for the area and its wildlife means loss of their habitat; the rito freezing over, but actually having to move, maybe into the tabantha canyon, building their new makeshift homes in between the walls of it- generally just switiching things around a bit would have done so much wihtout having to edit every last detail ((seriously tho, how did this game take so long given that botw took similar but they did that ENTIRE main map as detailed as it is AND made it all coherent with itself and its themes- im ranting again ..)
-but it ALSO would have been the perfect opportunity to introduce new weather types created by the sudden change in environment, somethign like a super strong wind that slows you when walking agaisnt and lets you jump much farther when with it- a darkness thing that clouds the world in utter darkness with only little light getting through anything that is caused by mushrooms from the udnerground invading the surface and their spores snuffs out all light (which could explain the weird darkness in the ruins from botw too!!), or just simply mist! making everything misty changes the entire feel of any environment drastically- you could make vertain enemies spawn only in certain weather conditions, lessening the repetive overuse of them; and that is only on the surface- what if the sky had sunbeams so strong it sets anything on fire if you dare to leave the shadows- to comabt it get a armor with a giant hat!! the underground could have been filled with different environments in the first place, but then of course thered be those dark spores of mushrooms, an entire forest you have to carefully travers other wise making them release their spores and make it all more difficult, glowy mushrooms, MORE glowy mushroms, theres so many weird ass shrooms IRL you could take inspo from!! maybe soemthing like a forest of kelp, long flowy plants obstructing view and making you anxious by any movement- there could be one thats a mimic or infected with miasma, slightly off color and its knobs are malice eyes that open only if it thinks you cant see it
(also for the idea of taking botws stuff and recontextualizing it, the guardians or shrines, now non fucntional, could be infected my miasma sometimes, maybe randomly to keep you guessing- an overgrown shrine suddenly lifting itself up with hands clawing at you when you get too close or do sth wrong to distrub it- similar with guardians tho the effect might be less since you know them as a threat already- or sth i mentioned in another post, a tower being used as a weapon by a gigatic miasma monster- the one in the gerudo region with the bottomless pit for example, perfect for an arena for you to run around in the spiral while its swinging at you etc etc)
JUST taking what botw had and mixing it up, expanding on it, even if technically little change, it could do so much but in the actual game death mountain and rito is the only ones that saw anything of a change like it, and it largely .. didnt change anything or was reversible easily, and had no actual consquences that meant anything, neither stakes nor environmental or narratively (the gerudo felt like it at first but its also largely reversible, its just kinda .. adding a bit of city)
i hhhhhhhhhhhhhh have so many thoughts still, i am just better at holding them back .... also dont wanna annoy lmao
#ganondoodles talks#zelda#ganondoodles rants#totk#loz totk#i still want to do the rewrite#but man wheres the time#i will never not be salty about totk#“YOU WERE THE CHOSEN ONE”#i wanna yell bc it could have been ... so good

The Lyall's Wren, or Stephen's Island Wren, Traversia lyalli, is one of the only five flightless passerine birds known to science. Historically, the wren species was found only on Stephen's Island off of New Zealand, but prehistorically it was found all across mainland New Zealand before the land was settled by the Māori people. The species' extinction on the mainland was most likely due to the introduction of the Polynesian rat, which came with the Māori people.
The species was first brought to the attention of scientists in 1894 by David Lyall, an assistant lighthouse keeper on Stephen's Island and the namesake for the bird, both in common tongue and in the scientific species name- lyalli. The unique genus name, Traversia, is named for Henry H. Travers, a naturalist and curio dealer who procured many specimen of the species from Lyall. T. lyalli is the oldest and most distinct member of the family Acanthisittidae, which includes all New Zealand wrens.
In 1894, construction of the Stephen's Island lighthouse begins, a pregnant cat that was brought to the island escaped. Within the year, a cat started bring small bird carcasses to the lighthouse keepers homes, and Lyall, who was interested in natural history, noted what seemed like a unique and new species. He would proceed to send a specimen to Walter Buller, who at once recognizes that it's a species previously unknown to modern taxonomists. However, within the year, the species is no longer anywhere to be found due to the growing population of feral cats on the island. A bit too late for the Lyall's Wren, the population of cats that were wreaking havoc on the natural environment of the island was officially exterminated by 1925.
In short, the Lyall's Wren was first discovered by science in 1894, and by 1895 the bird was presumed extinct due to predation by introduced feral cats. Today, only 15 specimen remain intact in museums worldwide.

This post has the aim of collecting all those stories which have one or more of the following characteristics:
It is a modern story set in the past of our characters (mainly 1930s);
The characters embrace their classic looks (again, the 1930s one) and the artstyle should refer, at least partially, to that era;
It has connection to classic tales and/or there is interaction with their past selves, by time travel or other gimmick.
I think these bullet points are enough, but the kind of stories I'm choosing as the first slate, will explain the criteria better than words.

Do you have any mer lore for how the celestials came about?
I do, Now there are countless theories in universe. But I think i'm partial to the Atlantis theory XD
Sooo... Majority of Mers are located around Sirens Cove (right where Cove Aquarium is located) and the surounding water around the archipelago just off the cove.
This is where the highest consentration of Mers are located and then decrease in sightings the further you stray from Sirens cove.
And well there is this glareingly obvious drop in the ocean that is far to deep to explore, it's too small for a submarine to safely travers and too deep for divers to go down, submersables have been sent down there but they stangely lose connection prehaps because of the strong magnetic energy we have detected in the area.
But some artifacts in the surrounding area and archilogical evidence does show that maybe just maybe there was once an island and or a civilization there that somehow sank under the ocean? We're not sure how, prehaps a shift in the tectonic plates or prehaps the whole area was not a cluster of islands but a valley that flooded, it's hard to tell.
Some myths say it was a curse from their god for messing with nature, others say they became mers to save them from the natural disaster. Some tales say there was a temple there full of monks devout to the goddess of the sea, but non of those myths have been proven and prehaps they won't ever be proven true or false.
I'm hopefully going to be exploring the history of Celestials in my Fic this may but it depends how far I get into the story this month.

On 15th July 1914 Gavin Maxwell, the Scottish novelist and naturalist, was born.
Maxwell was born and brought up in the tiny settlement of Elrig, north of Port William in Dumfries and Galloway, an area in which his family had owned estates for centuries.
He was educated at Stowe School and the University of Oxford, then became a freelance journalist, though ornithology remained his special interest. He served with the Scots Guard in World War II.
In 1945 he bought the island of Soay and described in Harpoon at a Venture, in 1952, his attempt to establish a shark fishery there.
His stand out book is came in 1962 with the best-selling Ring of Bright Water. It describes his life with two pet otters in his seaboard cottage in the west Highlands and was made into a film in 1969 starring Bill Travers and Virginia McKenna, parts of the film were shot in Ellenabeich on the Isle of Seil.
Maxwell followed Ring of High Water with a sequal, The Rocks Remain in 1963 and completed the trilogy with Raven Seek Thy Brother in 1969.
When Maxwell’s house was burnt down he moved to the lighthouse cottages he had purchased in 1963 on Eilean Bàn (‘White Island’), the island between Kyle of Lochalsh on the mainland and Kyleakin on the Isle of Skye.
Gavin Maxwell’s memory is preserved in the books he wrote, which have an enduring appeal. He is also remembered by the The Eilean Bàn Trust & Bright Water Visitor Centre. This operates a visitor centre in Kyleakin and conducts groups of visitors around Eilean Bàn, visiting the lighthouse, wildlife hides and part of the lighthouse cottage in which Maxwell’s “long room” has been recreated. It also rents out part of the lighthous cottage on the island as a holiday let.
The island of Eilean Bàn itself has changed significantly since Maxwell’s time. In the early 1990s it was linked to both the mainland and the Isle of Skye by the construction of the two parts of the Skye Bridge, which opened in October 1995. Despite this, the island remains a haven for wildlife.
The Statue of Maxwell’s otter in the last pic is at Monreith Dumfries and Galloway

Spider-Man vs Deku DEATH BATTLE Prediction +Wile vs Tom Review
Wile E Coyote vs Tom review:
It was pretty fun, it felt like I was watching a crossover between them and it was great, the analasys were also fun and I really like the jokes and facts that I didn't know about. 9/10
Thoughts on next time:
This is so far the biggest suprise in terms of the next episode, sure I did say the same thing with Simon vs Kyle but that one was more of a "they're doing this early" while Mikes vs Izuku is something that I wasn't expecting especially since we already had a MHA character with Shigaraki vs Mahito and not to meamtion Deku was in season 9 which was 3 years ago, so it kinda feels eraly for Deku to return. But with that said I am excited for it, it has a lot potential to be a great episode epsecially since Cian Mulroonay who wrote Vader vs Obito which is a great episode and I bet this one will be great as well.
Prediction:
As much as I love Miles... he's gonna lose and here's why, but before I do I'm gonna go over Miles advantages since he does have ways to win. First of all in terms of speed both Miles and Izuku are capable of doging lasers or scale to characters who dodge them however Miles would be probably faster due scaling to characters like Rocket Racoon and Venom who caught Mjolnir which can traver faster than light, and there's of course his Venom Blast which can destroy a persons nervous system and not to meantion can create electic constructs like a sword and finally there's his spider sence and camoflage, while Deku has the dangersence quirk which basically does the same thing as the spider sence, Miles's camoflage was able to bypass Peter's spider sence meaning Miles would bypass Deku's dangersence while Deku wouldn't be able to do the same with the spider sence.
Now with that being said your probably wondering "if Miles has all of these advantages then why does lose?" And that's simple for you see while Miles is probably faster Deku's gearshift can warp speed and tajectory of anything making it so even if Miles does take speed Deku can warp his speed to make Miles slower, and there's also his other quirks, while Miles can counter the smokescreen and dangersence quirks he can't do anything with Deku's other quirks like Fa Jin which while it can store energy Miles can't really absorb it and not to meantion Blackchain which can tie him up and Overdrive which comibes Fa Jin and Gearshift to make it so Deku's way fastet than Miles.
And finally there's the strenght advantage, at most Miles would either city block to island level due to scaling to characters like Captain America, Wolverine and Deadpool who can survive huge explosions. And don't get me wrong that is impressive but Deku on the ther hand is country to multi-continental this is due scaling to characters like All-Might and Stars and Stripes who cam change the weather with there attacks/fists and Deku and Bakugo were capable of destroying a storm a MASSIVE storm.
Final thoughs/who wins:
Miles does a change at winning due being able to counter some of Deku's quirks and is possibly faster, but in the end Izuku just has everything he needs to beat Miles thanks to his strenght and other quirks like Gearshift which can slow Miles and Overdrive which would make it so that Miles wouldn't be able to dodge Deku's attacks which given his massive strenght advantage it's more like Miles is gonna be following his dad's footsteps. The winner is Deku.

Travers "Twitch" Malarkey
Species: automaton
Birthday: April 3
Age: lost count after 201
Identity: sexless, he/him
Occupation: scientist, explorer
Residence: The Treehouse
Tag: The Stranger
Twitch was originally built for scientific expeditions to new planets. He was equipped to take readings of air, soil, and plant samples, and to assist with any terraforming needed for his creator species to live on any given planet he had visited. Unfortunately, the autopilot failed, and the ship he was on crashed on the surface of the next planet he and his cadre were meant to study. Most of the others were destroyed on impact. He remained functioning just enough to drag himself someplace sheltered enough that he was still in a reparable state by the time Kiera and Zeek found him. His nickname "Twitch" comes from the fact that he couldn't be fully repaired; some of his components are made from special materials the Ey'etzal can neither find nor replicate. He speaks with a stutter and sometimes his limbs move uncontrollably.
Even now, Twitch's programming gives him a strong desire to visit and explore new worlds. He has a tendency to take off through Kiera's jumpgate with no word of warning to anyone. It's how he found the island of Myst, and Tern's Archive.

Seventeen Seventy to Hervey Bay
At sunrise, it seemed unlikely that we would see much of it today. The skies were leaden and overcast, and although the temperatures at 6am were 23 degrees, with a strong breeze off the Pacific, it felt 10 degrees less than that. The tide was just coming in, and there was little movement of small boats as there were on previous days.
Our destination today was 250 km away at Hervey Bay, which is the departure town for Fraser Island, or K'gari, as is the preference now. We wanted to visit this island, and so a convenient stepping off place was necessary. As we drove, the day's weather gradually improved, and with the sun out, temperatures reached into the mid thirties. We chose a route that would take us firstly to Bundaberg. Now we were just a little put off this place, for all the wrong reasons. A little while ago, we were buying a six-pack of beer in a grog shop and were blinded by the array of options. Next to a pack of Great Northern Brewery output was a pack of Bundaberg. The bright yellow cans looked appealing and just a bit different. Different they certainly were, because as soon as the ring was pulled and a small draught decanted, we thought we had stout in the glass, not an IPA! Worse was to come because the taste test proved we had rum and coke, and not particularly nice rum and coke at that! Well, I persevered, and I still have one can of the stuff left that in Martine's clear opinion should be in the bin. So when it was clear we were to drive through the place that produced this horrible liquid, we figured we should just keep going, although as a town, it was actually quite presentable. Very close to Bundaberg, by the sea, was what sounded a nice little place to stop for a coffee; Burnett Heads, and after all, it was only 5 miles up the road. It wasn't long before we could see this was a big mistake. The countryside was flat, uninteresting, windy, and like being on the fens on a bad day. Coupled with a complete lack of cafés. Even the marina yielded no such supping places. We had to settle for a very odd bakery, where a young girl who looked like she ought to be in school, said in a rather assertive, authoritative manner when she had taken the order for 2 coffees, "I need you to stand over there" and pointing! I complied immediately, of course. What do they teach them in school these days? The rest of the intake of customers looked extremely shifty and weird. We were so off the beaten track that I was checking to see if they had 6 fingers. A notice we read outside referred to the community as 'isolated'. The only endearing feature was the old lighthouse. Repositioned to its present spot in 1972 when an automated replacement was constructed.
Our next port of call totally restored our confidence in our ability to find an interesting and comly town. We had heard about Maryborough, of course, and were very keen to visit. Maryborough is the birthplace of Helen Lyndon Goff, better known as PL Travers, author of Mary Poppins. Her full pseudonym, chosen as her stage name, was Pamela Lyndon Travers. Travers was her father's name, and Pamela ensured a good cadence. The museum set up to house memorabilia and tell the story is in the old Bank building that, in an upstairs room in 1899, she was actually born, while her father worked as bank manager downstairs in what was the Australian Stock Bank. This was a charming exhibition of her upbringing, background, and her works. She moved to England in 1923 at the age of 24, which is where she lived most of her life, dying in Chelsea in 1996. Her father had a problem with alcohol, his work suffered, and after demotion to clerk, and a few bank moves to poorer locations, eventually he caught pneumonia and died 3 days later. The family was then destitute, and Helen had to move in with a wealthy aunt. Tough time. It might, therefore be conjecture, but is it perhaps possible to see a bit of background to the plot for the Banks', later in the story? Perhaps. Interestingly, Travers' chosen illustrator for her books was Mary Shepard, who was the daughter of EH Shepard, the illustrator of Winnie the Pooh and Wind in the Willows!
Driving out through Maryborough, we were delighted with the place. Charming stone built buildings in the colonial style, old Hotel/ Bars on street corners, and possibly the nicest tribute to the work of the town's most successful daughter, the pedestrian lights show a red and a green Mary Poppins complete with umbrella.
Our place for the next 4 nights is in a house called The Little Green Cottage. 100 metres from the beach, it will be ideal for us before flying back to Sydney.

Question à 100 $ (US) : ''C'est grave, docteur ?''.
The loneliness of the long distance runner'' –1959).
H-Cl.

Sudden revelation paid Bobby Moch a visit as well. His came as he sat, in the shade under a tree in a wide-open field on Travers Island, opening an enve-lope. The envelope contained a letter from his father, the letter Bobby had re quested, listing the addresses of the relatives he hoped to visit in Europe. But the envelope also contained a second, sealed, envelope labeled, "Read this in a private place." Now, alarmed, sitting under the tree. Moch opened the second envelope and read its contents. By the time he had finished reading, tears were running down his face.
The news was innocuous enough by twenty-first-century standards, but in the context of social attitudes in America in the 193os it came as a profound shock. When he met his relatives in Europe, Gaston Moch told his son, he was going to learn for the first time that he and his family were Jewish.
Bobby sat under the tree, brooding for a long while, not because he suddenly found himself a member of what was then still a much discriminated against minority, but because as he absorbed the news he realized for the first time the terrible pain his father must have carried silently within him for so many years. For decades, his father had felt that in order to make it in America it was necessary to conceal an essential element of his identity from his friends, his neighbors, and even his own children. Bobby had been brought up to believe that everyone should be treated according to his actions and his character, not according to stereotypes. It was his father himself who had taught him that. Now it came as a searing revelation that his father had not felt safe enough to live by that same simple proposition, that he had kept his heritage hidden painfully away, a secret to be ashamed of, even in America, even from his own beloved son.

Elementals of Tsikiri Character reveal!! The water nymph!! hiding within a secret mystical cavern at the bottom of the karakama ocean, her moss covered shrine tucked within this deep sea cave thats angled in such a way that creatures could climb out onto a small island of land, and breathe oxygen safely while visiting this shrine. but any land dweller trying to seek this magical shrine will fail doing so without gills and fins to travers the ocean waters of Tsikiri. Dispite the Water nymph having a tail fin, she can float and breathe out of water just fine! I can't wait for May! gives me an excuse to draw her for mermay! Traversia lyalli
Reduction relief print for Patreon members January 2025
"The Lyall's Wren, or Stephen's Island Wren, Traversia lyalli, is one of the only five flightless passerine birds known to science.
Today, only 15 specimen remain intact in museums worldwide."

"Insider tea: The older woman Shawn is “with” is definitely pr. Every single time music or photo shoots are rumored, coming out, and whatnot something with this man happens. His team knows he only headlines when he has a “love interest” (as shown with Camila); that’s why he does these stunts. Blinds have claim Island and his label wanted him to be “with” Sabrina for MONTHS but he refused as they don’t get along. He hasn’t been spotted or reports with any girl and then a new girl comes? No, it was because it was late notice. His team “leaked” the photo of him and the unidentified. The beach pics were staged as his neighbors were complaining about the pap coming into the neighborhood and making too much fuss. It’s funny how his fans don’t believe he does stunt or calls the paps. Literally, all celebs do. He has been also late to studio sessions and high out of his mind so his team are pissed. The only of the him and his creepy doctor made a lot of noise within Reddit’s so why not bring it back with another older woman? This woman (Charlie Travers) has been trying to be a singer for EIGHT years. Go figure. Anyone on short notice is good for his team because they are lazy. Fans should know he’s into the instagram model type, that has never changed at all.
Sources have leaked movie projects and music is underway. This is all planned but on short notice that is why there was never tips or spottings with this woman until nov. 9."
Whoever wrote this reads enty, and in case you don't know, he doesn't like Shawn. He's made up so many fake blinds about him. The movie projects they're talking about have been on his page for a while, they're fake and a fan wrote that a while ago. This is no insider tea, this is all lies about Shawn. And by the way Shawn said he's been working on new music since the beginning of this year, so if he needed a PR stunt he would've had one already a while ago. People who believe him and Sabrina were PR don't know how pr works. They were never spotted together like a pr couple would. And even the owners of Backgrid have said they follow him around because his pictures sell all the time, they mentioned he's one of the few celebs that actually doesn't call them or has staged pics.
I've gotten some new followers recently so just a reminder! If an anon sends in “inside tea” just take it with a grain of salt.
This blog has already been through it with “A” certain anon that was sending in scary tea a few years ago.
