THE BEST TRAIN JOURNEYS IN THE WORLD!
“I have seldom heard a train go by and not wished I was on it,” said the travel writer Paul Theroux and am pretty sure most of us concur with him. Train journeys are the most comfortable and relaxing means of long-distance travel.
While a flight may help you reach the destination within a short span of time, nothing quite beats the scenic views, window side sightseeing opportunity and the romance of a train ride.
Here is a list of some of the most amazing train journeys in the world which are a must do with your travel buddies.
1. OSLO- BERGEN RAILWAY, NORWAY:
Tumblr media
The Oslo to Bergen route is one of the most scenic and famous routes in the whole of Europe. This is one of the best train journeys. It’s the highest major rail route in Europe and the most spectacular one, passing through mountain terrains at 4000ft. Picture radiant, winding fjords cutting through mountain ranges of Norway with nature in its most serene and artistic setting is something you’ll get to experience on this exhilarating trip and train journey. There are four trains departing from Oslo to Bergen each day and takes almost 6-7 hours.
It’s advisable to take a one-two day halt at the fjord-side village of Flam which is one of the top attractions of Norway.
2. TRANS-SIBERIAN RAILWAY – RUSSIA:
Tumblr media
The Trans-Siberian Railway is among the world’s longest rail routes covering 5772 miles. Spanning across eight time zones, the Trans-Siberian Railway takes eight days to complete the journey. The main route begins in Moscow, crosses over the Ural Mountains, through dense Siberian forests and connects the capital with Vladivostok in the East.
3. BELMOND HIRAM BINGHAM – PERU:
Tumblr media
If you’ve got no time to hike the Inca trail to the UNESCO World Heritage Site of Machu Picchu or did not get a permit for the same, then the Belmond Hiram Bingham is a once-in-a-lifetime luxury train journey starting from Cusco and ending at Machu Picchu. It traverses through some of Peru’s most romantic scenery turning a magical journey into an unforgettable travel experience. This luxury train runs every day except last Sunday of each month.
4. REUNIFICATION EXPRESS, VIETNAM:
Tumblr media
There is no single train which is called the Reunification Express but any train running on the North-South Railway line is called so. The Reunification Express is an integral part of the country’s history and is the best way to explore Vietnam. This is one of the best train journeys. The train runs from Hanoi right down to Ho Chi Minh city and is almost 30 hours long train journey. This train is a fascinating experience which rumbles through endless fields of rice quaint dusty towns and several other beautiful tourist places.
The Railway was battered and bruised by American bombs during the Vietnam war but resurrected itself and resumed services after the country’s reunification in 1976.
5. DANUBE EXPRESS, EUROPE:
Tumblr media
The Golden Eagle Danube Express is a luxurious private hotel train with comfortable coaches, private suites and fine dining, hosting just 65 passengers. Crossing an incredible eight countries, it is the best way to see Europe in style. This train traverses a 2000mile passage starting from Istanbul, Turkey to Prague, the capital of the Czech Republic. On the way, it travels through Hungary, Slovakia, Austria, and Poland before ending the journey at Prague.
6. TRANZALPINE, NEW ZEALAND:
Tumblr media
The TranzAlpine is one of the world’s great train journeys covering 223 kilometers one way taking just less than 5 hours. This journey will take you through South Island’s stunning natural landscape between Christchurch and Greymouth. You’ll also get to see magnanimous snow-capped mountains of Arthur’s Pass National Park, ice fed Waimakariri river, majestic Canterbury Plains as well as the Southern Alps.

Best places to visit in Goa - TravelUR
A lot has been said and written about Goa. To simply put it in one sentence - 'Goa is an experience in itself'. Having visited over numerous times to this Paradise, it has so much to offer and I feel sad that it mostly goes unnoticed.
Goa is mainly divided into two parts: North and South Goa with tourists flocking North more.
North consists mainly of beaches like Baga, Calangute, Candolim, Arpora, Morjim, Ashwem, Arambol, Vagator, Anjuna, etc. Apart from beaches, you can also visit forts like Aguada and Chapora.
On the other hand, South goa consists of beaches like Benaulim, Canacona, Agoda, Majorda, Palolem, Colva, etc. Unlike North, south Goa has cleaner and calmer beaches. There are no party vibes there, but it’s definitely a place for you if you’re looking for some peace and tranquillity.
Check out these 8 places which according to me are a must visit while in Goa.
1.  Aguada Beach  + Fort:-
Tumblr media
While Fort Aguada is known to soothe ones’ eyes with delightful views of Aguada beach, it attracts travelers with its pristine landscape and the background of ancient citadels. The beach is famous amongst tourists especially honeymooners.
2. Arambol Beach:-
Tumblr media
With its Bohemian atmosphere, Arambol has long been a tourist attraction for many of the hippies and backpackers. Because of its relaxed environment coupled with peace and tranquillity, this beach attracts many vacationers from other beaches of Goa.
3. Anjuna Beach:-
Tumblr media
One of the most popular tourist places in Goa – Anjuna beach is known for its full-moon parties, trance parties and the hippies who tried to synthesize the spiritual traditions of the East and the art, ideas and the music of the West.
4. Chapora Fort:-
Tumblr media
Remember the Bollywood movie- Dil Chahta Hai? Many of you might have longed to sit on the fort walls just like the actors. Well, it is the Chapora Fort! There is also a lot of history in this fort.
5. Trek to Dudhsagar Falls:-
Tumblr media
Goa has some amazing trekking routes and the route to the Dudhsagar Waterfalls is one of them. True to its name, the waterfall appears like a 'Sea of Milk'. The best time to visit here is during the monsoon season.
6. Basilica de Bom Jesus:-
Tumblr media
It is the most famous church and among the most revered by Christians worldwide. It is partially in ruins but still a model of simplicity and elegance. Located at Old Goa, this Basilica is a UNESCO World Heritage site.
7. Deltin Royale:-
Tumblr media
This is the most lavish of all the casinos both gaming-wise and size-wise. Open 24 hours, it offers live gaming at any time of the day or night. It offers an unparalleled experience of luxury with live music performances and international dancers. It is a gamer’s paradise in the true sense.
8. Anjuna Flea Market:-
Tumblr media
It is amongst the most popular tourist place. It offers many things, right from fruits, clothes, accessories, electronic devices, etc. It’s a favorite hangout among hippies and backpackers.

5 Gloriously Green Destination Places To Explore!
There’s no end to the number of beautiful places to visit, but we’ve scoured the world to find the most serene and exhilarating green destination places.
These top 5 spots get our vote for the lushest hues and the most spectacular vistas anywhere.
1. Tortuguero National Park, Costa Rica:
Tumblr media
Along the coastline of the protected Tortuguero National Park is the famous sea turtle nesting areas. But, the surrounding jungles, with their extraordinary biodiversity this green destination is a heaven on earth for the nature-loving travelers among us. You don't have to walk the entire length of the park to explore. The marked trail along the beach is used to mostly observe the turtles nesting, but we recommend you to get a boat to see and explore the park. You can still get in that workout by rowing rented canoes and kayaks. Guides are essential to show around the best nesting sites. They are inexpensive and plentiful.
2. Black Forest, Germany:
Tumblr media
If the words Black Forest brings an image of the decadent dessert cake to your mind and not this verdant region in Germany, we have got a treat for your sore eyes! Nestled in southwest Germany, the settings of many Brothers’ Grimm fairytales draw inspiration from the bucolic towns of the Black Forest. Germans love their physical activity, so once you finish up your kayaking, hiking, and/or cycling holiday, you can ease those aching muscles whilst relieving your travel experiences with your group at one of the many world-renowned spas this green destination has to offer.
3. Mitre Peak, New Zealand:
Tumblr media
Mitre Peak is about 6,000 feet tall and is notoriously difficult to climb. If the adventurist in you wants to add this to a green destination to your ever-growing travel diaries, we totally recommend this. It juts straight up off the coast of New Zealand’s south island at Milford Sound. Mitre Peak is technically a fjord – if you’re down Milford Sound way, don’t miss this stunning vision hulking over the tranquil drops of the Sound. Talk to your travel planner to get to this lush green destination. You will definitely yearn to go back when you think of the travel memories from this trip.
4. YenBai, Vietnam:
Tumblr media
YenBai is a large agricultural region inhabited by Hmong rice and corn farmers in the People’s Republic of Vietnam. The harvest season in mid-September is a popular and vibrant time to plan a vacation to this exotic green destination and experience a unique culture. Mu Cang Chai terraced fields are the most famous landmark of Yen Bai. Visit in May-June or September-October, to witness the marvelous terraced rice fields. Visit during December - January if you want to experience a comforting dip in the hot springs amidst the cold winter of the North.
5. Isle of Skye, Scotland:
Tumblr media
We’re gonna let you in on a secret. Though Ireland is known for its sprawling green destinations, there are parts of Scotland that put this moniker to shame. To whit – the Isle of Skye. Whether you fancy village life, hiking, or bird/whale watching. Portree serves as an ideal point to witness the island’s many hidden gems. Don’t take our word for it – just plan a trip and go there. You will not be disappointed. Enjoy quiet mornings and evenings by staying the night in the Isle of Skye to explore the island when it's still tranquil. This also means you don’t have to rush around so much and can enjoy a leisurely dinner and evening walk after a day of exploration.
