Morocco is a place that for many years had had a mysterious pull on me. But I always ignored it. Usually, when I first notice this, it’s an indication to me that there is some fascinating experience I am to have in this particular country. I have mentioned this before, but the first place in which this occurred was in Southern Spain. I still recall walking some of the beautiful side streets there and encountering many Moroccans who had made Spain their home. I would tell them of how amazed I was by what I had seen in Spain, particularly fragments of their culture and their influence in the region. They would always say to me : “If you think this place is beautiful, wait till you see Morocco.” That experience had always stuck with me, mainly because it didn’t occur just once but a few times throughout that trip. I immediately took that as a sign from the universe. There is a spiritual component of travel that I have never been able to explain completely, but one that has been pivotal to my personal experiences. Although yes, there has been a bit of spontaneity in my selection of countries, there are moments when I’ve received signs, symbols, or even physical gifts that have been key to the selection of the subsequent country I would visit. The epic part of the hike is when you go on this metal bridge that hangs high in the sky. This would effect even people with no fear of heights.
