How do I get a transfer from the airport to a place of residence?
Tumblr media
Today we're going to talk about How do I get a transfer from the airport to a place of residence?
because when you're traveling one of the biggest headaches and biggest worries you have is when you get there with your luggage and try to figure out how I get to your hotel.
like am I going to get robbed can I do the bus and is there a metro that goes there I don't know what to do and so what I want to do is kind of give you an overall idea of what you can do because honestly it all kind of comes down to the same thing I mean depending on the size of the city you'll have a train a bus a taxi a ride-share or a shuttle service from hotels like there are those five mains.
things you're going to see, and I think what you really want to start off with when you're thinking about what to use to get from the airport to your hotel. first, ask your hotel what's the best way for you to get there, and the thing is they may say oh you can just take train number six, or you can take bus number 52, and it'll drop you off right at our hotel sometimes it's that simple other times they may say it depends on what time of day you're going to come in. might say oh we can arrange a driver for you or that's what they'll tell you we have a shuttle.
into town obviously, public transportation will pretty much always be the cheapest way.
Bus
bus so maybe just take the bus the thing is when you're looking at taking buses they usually go the most often of all the transportation options in terms of public transportation and the thing is usually what you have to plan for.
are you going to take a bus to or from the airport those buses will cost more than a normal bus you know because it might be an express airport bus, so you have to pay more so when you're buying your tickets to your bus tickets?
get into the center because sometimes you can take it you know public transportation, and they check like oh you only went for two zones, and now you're in three zones, so you need to pay more, and I have seen people get fined for it.
if you're going to take the bus frequently what it is you'll buy the ticket from the driver or there might be a stand that sells the ticket for the buses, and then you buy your ticket, and they'll tell you where to go.
if they're bigger buses you're not going to bring your luggage up into the bus they're going to put it underneath the bus and then when you get to the train station or the bus station or wherever they drop off is then they'll take your stuff out you get it there.
when you're taking the bus if it's a dedicated airport bus okay now if it's just normal public transportation then yes you will actually have your luggage with you on a normal bus that's why I frequently recommend taking that kind of airport express buses versus the normal bus, and you'll notice that those airports express buses.
you know travelers with suitcases whereas you take the bus local. so there's usually not a lot of room for your luggage so be aware of that, your luggage is really going to dictate a lot in terms of what you can do when it comes to getting around.
Local Trains
there are trains every half hour that come into town at 42 minutes very easy got a lot of luggage rolls it on their boom you're good to go all right.
the trains are usually a little more than the buses they're not as often as the buses, and they only go one route they usually go to the main train station. so if you're not staying at the main train station you might then have to get a taxi or a subway or a bus to get to your next destination, so you might want to factor that into your pricing when you're looking at these things also.
Taxis & Rideshares
if you're coming in late at night like after midnight into most airports in Europe sometimes it's hard to get the trade there might not be a train or a lot of public transportation options late at night
so be careful if you're using cheaper airlines, or you have a red-eye flight that gets in late because you might only be able to take a taxi or an Uber from the airport and that's going to be a lot more expensive and honestly, taxes are usually the most expensive option, but they take you from point to point so if you don't want to deal with that or if you have a lot of luggage.
I do recommend doing a taxi or a van that will take you there because then you don't have to worry about dealing with all your luggage when you're at the airport I will tell you got to realize are a lot of airports now they'll have a designated place for taxis, and then they'll have a designated place for ride-shares like Uber or Lyft every country has different stuff Uber is pretty ubiquitous, but other countries have different things.

Vegetarian insight!
It may seem like a bit of a struggle to find vegetarian food in Taiwan, but I’ll let you know all the juicy details on where to find good vegetarian food, whether it’s out on the streets or in a restaurant, I’ll take you to eat like a local, with the locals ;)
Firstly, it’s good to know how to say vegetarian in Chinese, this should give you leverage when it comes to being confronted by Taiwanese people.
Su - vegetables
To ask if it’s vegetarian you say:
Su de ma?(formal) /Su de?(informal) - Is it vegetarian?
Night markets
Taiwan is filled with night markets, where ever you go you’ll find a night market there.
What to purchase at the night markets:
Now the most famously known vegetarian food in Taiwan is the Stinky tofu, it’s not for everyone and there’s a reason why it has the name! But boy, does it taste good!
If you haven’t tried it/scared/disgusted to try it, it’s worth a shot!
Tumblr media
You can get it lightly fried with some spicy 🌶  sauce drizzled on the top with some cabbage pickles, or you can also get it deep fried as “chips” with different choices of seasoning, and with the cabbage pickles.

Jian Bao
This one is a bit tricky to find and you might need a Taiwanese friend to help you out on this, there are a couple of places that you can find these buns but most of them are filled with meat.
Once again, use the word ‘Su de ma?’ to help you determine whether it’s vegetarian or not.
The way they make these buns is that they steam/fry it, and they’re absolutely delicious and I highly recommend everyone to try one.
The bottom Is crispy and the top is nice and soft (no sexual innuendos there…) 😂 and they’re usually filled with cabbage and mushroom fungi.
Tumblr media
Liang mien
I love this one and it’s one of my grandmother’s specialties, which brings me to Liang Mien,
Liang Mien: cold noodles with sesame sauce, chilli oil, shredded cucumber and topped with pickled bamboo.
This simple yet delicious dish is accessible majority everywhere, even in 7/11! (Good midnight snack 😉)
Tumblr media
Vegetarian Meat Ball With Red Vinasse - made with mock meat and glutinous rice wrap
This, by far, is definitely the most weirdest looking food out there, it looks like meat and tastes sort of sweet and sort of salty as well…it’s a mind fuck to your tastebuds pretty much.
In saying that, it was very very delicious, and served in a soy based sauce.
Tumblr media
Last but not least, definitely not least…is the hotpot and vegetarian buffets!!
These are super easy to find anywhere in Taiwan, if you meet some local people ask them where the buffet restaurants are, they’re dirt cheap and delicious!

Desserts
How could I ever forget about desserts?
In the night markets you can get plenty of desserts, from ice creams to egg waffles (definitely a must!)
Tumblr media
QQ soup with shaved ice
There is a broad selection of toppings, from beans to chewy QQ balls.
Sticky grilled pudding
This one you can find anywhere in the night markets and you can also have it savoury or sweet, I had mine with crumbed peanuts and sweet syrup.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Crumbed Peanut with Ice cream and coriander
This is something that’s definitely different in Taiwan, one of the places to definitely try this one out is in Jiufen, they will have several shops down on Old Street, it’s a great cold snack!
Tumblr media
Egg waffle with ice cream and cream and all the heavenly sweet goods 😌
This is probably one of my all time favourite Taiwanese desserts, it’s an egg waffle (which looks so weird and obscure) but tastes absolutely amazing! They have different types of waffles from fruits to chocolate and matcha. They fill it up with all the yummy goodies and top it off with ice cream/cream and more yummy goodies on top, such as sprinkles, syrups and marshmallows.
I hope that’s got you drooling or I don’t know what would!
Tumblr media
Other vegetarian foods to try:
Sticky rice with peanuts (savory)
Tumblr media
Fruit stalls on the street
Tumblr media
Veggie pancake filled with sprouts, spinach, egg and hoisin sauce
Tumblr media
❤️ There you have it! Now go on a food adventure and eat your hearts out!  ❤️
