Indian woman crosses border for love, goes to Pakistan to meet man she met on Facebook

Even as the Pakistani national Seema Haider remained in the discussion for illegally entering India through the Nepal border with her four children, another similar incident has come to the fore. Now, an Indian woman has crossed the border to meet her lover.

A married Indian woman from Rajasthan’s Bhiwadi district has travelled to Pakistan’s northwestern Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province to meet a man she befriended and fell in love with on Facebook, police said on Sunday. 

Nasrullah and Anju became friends on Facebook

The woman, identified as Anju (34), had gone across the border leaving behind her two children and husband to meet the man named Nasrulla. Nasrullah, who works in the medical field and Anju became friends on Facebook a few months ago, ARY News reported.

After reaching Lahore, she called her husband (Arvind) and told him that she was in Lahore to meet a friend and will return to India in three-four days. But Arvind came to know via media that Anju had gone across the border to meet her lover. The couple has a 15-year-old girl and a five-year-old son.

Arvind further said that he had no idea that she had gone to meet a named Nasrullah in Pakistan. He said her passport was issued in 2020 as she wanted to apply for a job abroad. He said that before this she had never gone out of the city. She once had gone to Faridabad to meet her relative.

Reportedly, Anju had also bought a new SIM to go to Pakistan, whose number she had not even given to her husband.

According to the reports, was born in Kailor village in Uttar Pradesh and lived in the Alwar district of Rajasthan. She reached Lahore three days ago and she is now in the Upper Dir district of Pakistan’s Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. Arvind has been working in Bhiwadi since 2005 and was married in 2007 to Anju. Anju is also employed at a private firm.

Anju was was initially in police custody but was released after her travel documents were verified. “She was allowed to go after all the travel documents were found to be in order. They were provided security to ensure no untoward incident takes place and which can bring a bad name to the country,” a source told news agency PTI.

Recently, Seema Ghulam Haider, a Pakistani mother of four, sneaked into India to live with Sachin Meena, a Hindu man she got in touch with while playing PUBG in 2019. Seema (30) and Sachin (22) are currently leaving in the Rabupura area of Greater Noida. According to the couple, Seema and Sachin Meena got in touch while playing PUBG in 2019 and a dramatic love story unfolded between the two living more than 1,300 km apart, in countries not too friendly to each other. Seema and Sachin live in the Rabupura area of Greater Noida, near Delhi, where he runs a provision store, according to Uttar Pradesh Police.

While Seema was arrested on July 4 for illegally entering India without a visa via Nepal with her four children and Sachin was put behind bars for sheltering the illegal immigrants. At present, the police and investigative agencies are investigating Seema. It was earlier reported that the security agencies were planning to send Seema back to Pakistan soon, but later it became clear that she will be in India till the investigation is completed.

However, unlike Seema who entered India without a visa via Nepal with her four children all aged below seven years, Anju has travelled to Pakistan legally from India via the Wagah-Attari border.

Meanwhile, police in Lahore arrested 30 PTI workers, including former football star Shumaila Sattar, on Sunday for trying to meet Khan at his Zaman Park residence in Lahore, a police officer said on Monday. Sattar was a former member of the national women's football team.

A senior lawyer, who is a petitioner against the trial of civilians in the military courts, was also "abducted" after he met with Khan in Lahore, the officer said.

The Lahore police said that Sattar has been arrested in connection with the attack on Corps Commander House in Lahore on May 9. She was identified through geo-fencing and sent to jail on judicial remand, police said.

Khan has also said senior advocate of the Supreme Court Aziz Bhandhari has been abducted (by agencies) after he called on him at his Zaman Park residence the other day. He said Advocate Bhandhari had filed a petition in the Supreme Court against the trial of civilians in military courts.

"This is a complete martial law in the country," he said.

The 30 PTI workers, who were freed from jail in connection with the May 9 violence, wanted to see Khan and have been re-arrested under the public disorder act.

Widespread violence erupted in Pakistan after Khan was arrested by paramilitary personnel inside the Islamabad High Court on May 9. He was later released on bail.

Over 20 military installations and state buildings including military headquarters in Rawalpindi were damaged or torched in the violent protests that followed Khan's arrest.

According to PTI, law enforcement agencies arrested over 10,000 party workers across Pakistan, mostly from Punjab.

LAHORE: The Pet Food Importers Association has called on the government to lift ban imposed on pet food imports as food from local manufacturers is not up to the standard to be fed to pets.

“Many pets, including cats, dogs, birds and other animals, eat certain imported foods. If they are fed any other food, they like to die and do not eat any other food. The government’s ban on basic food for pets is unjust. The ban on pet food in the name of luxury items is not acceptable in any case. The government should immediately reconsider this decision and withdraw the ban,” he demanded.

However, when Profit asked Bajwa which local manufacturers had poor quality pet food, he declined to name a specific brand and said, “We will not name any company or brand, but the food we produce here does not like pets and is not capable of keeping animals healthy.

Another association representative later claimed in a press conference that the pet food worth 5 million dollars was imported this year, according to Federal Board of Revenue records.

“The whole food was not ordered by the pet owners but also by the many security agencies for the trained dogs. These agencies are also facing problems with dog food,” he said.

However, in a press conference, the representatives of the association threatened the government that if they do not prove to be pet friendly, their vote bank of the pet owners, importers, distributors will be destroyed.

However, while talking to Pakistan Today, a pet food vendor based in Lahore DHA said that imported pet food is just a ploy to appease the pet owner.

“I get a lot of customers every day who do not afford expensive and imported food for their pets and they use local food which is low cost compared to imported one and not substandard. Yes, I do not say that it can compete with the most expensive and most popular brands in the world, but their [local food] quality is not such that the animal cannot be fed”.

“In fact, importers, shopkeepers and veterinarians have more advantage in selling imported food as it has higher profit margins. Local food is available at a lower price so it has lower profit margins. In this country, children die of starvation and we insist on feeding dogs and cats expensive food. Pets, especially cats and dogs, stay healthy by eating chicken, beef and plain bread,” he concluded.
