also like, if we can't use queer, what the hell can we use? do we have another word that doesn't take an overly long time to say which can be used instead? and if so, why?
it works perfectly fine, especially compared to saying the lgbtqia+ community (which isn't one community, there isn't like meetings with all of the queers, it's like, labels you give yourself) wait sorry just realized that I'm pretty sure the q in lgbtqia+ stands for queer, so I guess it would be lgbtia+ which, yeah.
it's probably best just to have one word to refer to people who fit in the really loose definition of queer.
Friendly reminder that LGBTQ+, Queer, and LGBT+ are the preferred terms for the community (x).
Friendly reminder that Queer is approved by 72.9% of the people, and the groups who don’t prefer it’s use as an umbrella term are straight people, exclusionists, transmeds, truscums, sex-negative people, and sex work critical people (x).
Friendly reminder that aros and aces are excluded only 9.2% / 8.1% of the time respectively while being included 78.9% / 81.2% of the time (x)
Friendly reminder that exclusionists are in the minority and aro/ace people are included in the LGBTQ+ community by the people within the community.
#discussion#queer#lgbtqia+#that being said#I wish there was more enby rep within the acronym#and no#trans is not the same thing#they are different#if similar things#and I still don't feel completely comfortable calling myself trans#like technically I am#but like nonbinary fits much much better#also demiromantic and demisexual aren't included in the acronym#there ARE problems#it's just atleast we have something lol

trans women are everywhere and are so eager to be seen and heard but only if they feel safe around you. if you hardly ever have trans women interacting with you, especially online, then consider there might be a reason for that and you should address it
#the same thing happens with black people#black people are everywhere! especially online! black gay and black trans people!#but when your community is suspiciously devoid of them then theres something wrong and you need to acknowledge it#even if its not intentional you need to think about how theres minority groups who do not feel safe around you at face value#this is why loud and outright support and solidarity is so important#black people and trans people and etc minority groups will assume you are unsafe unless you explicitly state otherwise#you can't just sit there and say 'well they didnt approach us so its not our fault for not including them!'#like did you TRY to get them to approach you??#cy texts

trans men are allowed to paint their nails.
trans men are allowed to wear dresses or skirts, or any generally "feminine" clothing.
trans men are allowed to wear makeup.
trans men are allowed to embrace their more "feminine" side.
it does not make us any less of a man.
EDIT! : ALL MEN are allowed to do these things, but this post is more centred around the idea that "oh, people who 'claim' to be men and wear dresses and shit are not trans!" yes, we are. skirt go spinny. painted nails are nice. its not that hard to understand.
#peer edited by @munnchausenzip#thank you munnchausen#same thing for trans women in the opposite direction#i thought we got rid of stupid fucking gender roles#but as soon as somebody TRANS does something slightly in line with their agab#oh no oh NO#they're suddenly faking it!#fuck that shit.#do what you want.#transgender#ftm#trans#trans boy#transmasc#trans rights#transitioning#transisbeautiful#nonbinary#transgirl#trans guy#transgurl#transfem#transfemme#trans woman#trans women#trans pride#trans positivity

i think the main character that differs transmisogyny from transphobia + misogyny, is the goal.
trans masculine individuals experience what we'll call "corrective misogyny", where they experience a derision of their chosen gender in an attempt to push them back into the class of [cis]woman this is transphobia + misogyny.
People I think confuse this with transmisogyny because it involves transphobia and misogyny, but transmisogyny is not "corrective". The point of transmisogyny is to push trans feminine individuals out of both the class of man and woman, into a gender underclass, a subaltern as some have called it. There is no premise of "rescuing" trans women. trans men are abused in attempt to bring them back into the protected underclass of women, while trans women are abused in an attempt at the opposite, the intent is explicitly to push us out of all protected classes.
#transmisogyny#self post#transfeminism#this is a *general* analysis#not all individuals experience things the same way#especially trans men of color#as they're often pushed out of protected classes too#but importantly thats not because they're trans men#thats because of the intersection of their transness with their racialized experience#but i digress#hopefully that makes sense

edit: turning off reblogs because some of the people that are reblogging are extremely fucking moronic. holy shit
#anti jk rowling#anti harry potter#1) she's not being removed because 'she spoke up about biological sex' she actively influences anti-trans policies#2) it's not misogynistic to remove her. the fact that she's a woman doesn't have ANYTHING to do with her removal#3) the people reblogging this in approval don't 'cry when an artist isn't credited' this isn't the same fucking thing.#this is as the article says (if you know how to read 🤭) the quickest solution to reduce her impact#this bitch doesn't just hurt trans people. it's clear in her books that she's a white supremacist and she's also antisemitic#and she said dumbledore is gay for clout. it's fucking obvious. stop defending this woman and get a life-#-or get involved on the side of trans people#or just generally drop the fucking series you read as a middle schooler. nostalgia isn't more important than the lives of trans/jewish ppl

I know some people have unfathomable beef with the term but i really don’t see the issue with transmascs describing their specific experiences with societal mistreatment and persecution as “transandrophobia”, like i think it’s good to be able to discuss specific experiences and articulate the problems you’re facing actually.
#my stuff#literally the main opposition to it i’ve personally seen is that it’s a psyop or w/e to try and ignore that transmisogyny is a thing#or that it implies men as a class are persecuted despite y’know. the patriarchy#and i think those points ignore A: The same ppl IVE seen talking about transandrophobia ALSO talk abt transmisogyny bc solidarity forever#n B: Men may not be an oppressed class but there are unique things that suck about being perceived as a man by others#or having that perception be conditional or vital to your physical safety#i remember what it was like being a terrified tgirl in the men’s locker room trying not to trip the fag radar#i remember how fucking isolating it is for non-men to treat you like a threat or a predator for existing#those things massively suck and transmascs ABSOLUTELY should be able to discuss them and how those experiences are shaped by their transiton#and the degree to which their masculinity or lack thereof#-real or perceived impacts the transphobia they face#everyone having a fucking mortal kombat linguistics hernia over it shutuppppppppppp#trans

If even acknowledging antisemitism within your community spaces is going to "distract from the cause," maybe that's because the foundation of your beliefs comes down to antisemitism. What you're doing is telling on yourself.
#jumblr#jewish politics#personal thoughts tag#yes if you're in the group chat this is a vague post but seeing that (what i complained about) made me realize this#maybe it wasn't all that bad then???#this has the same energy as people who say that acknowledging transphobia in feminist spaces is wrong#because obviously you can only focus on One Thing At A Time like we're in a video game! (sarcasm)#i promise you can be against bigotry of all kind and it won't take away from anything about your causes#like i'm a Believer In Feminism and i also focus on fixing transphobia within these spaces i am in! it's EASY!!!#it's easy because i see trans people as intrinsic human beings i'll give you that but it's still easy#women are not Missing Out on my activism because i am focused on more than one thing at a time

I won't be able to finish this drawing before the convention, which will take up my next 5 days.. But I want to talk a little about him.. I've been thinking about golems and Frankenstein, and the trans body, projection and misunderstanding, villainization and death.
The concepts of Frankenstein's monster and the golem have been swimming in my head for a while, and their lore intertwining.. The tragedy of existing being seen as a monster no matter how you try,.. And the Golem, a protector of his people and a servant whose only flaw always rang a bit close to home as an an autistic person-- being too literal in execution of his orders. He's tired and struggles with a yearning for death. His havdalah candles will be out.. The first flame of the week, a spark of starting over again-- The flame brings him fear. As much as he's kept himself together he doesn't know how much longer he can keep doing it, he fears failure- but the fear of what may happen if he's gone is even more terrifying. He's lived a long life, and over time the one who formed him has sculpted him to the golem's own wishes.. From nothing to the man he is- but even with that effort, to outsiders he's still a monster. His skin is different shades of clays from varying riverbeds as his people have travelled.. Golems are unformed, imperfect.. but even as outsides can be polished the insides can still be broken
#i have a million thoughts on him but will only put a little ramble i guess#jewish art#trans art#you ever think about how no matter how hard you try as a trans person at the end of the day a large amount of people will still see you#as trans. doesnt matter how acceptable you look#the same thing is with jewishness for me.. it's been like a damage multiplier on top of transness.#it doesnt matter how nice i try to be or how caring. it doesnt matter how many good things i do im still a jew to a large amount of people#even within the queer community haha :') ive felt it so often in queer communities here.#this little guy is gonna be where i store that experience as a trans jew. it goes in the frankengolem#i like the thought of frankenstein's fear of fire being incorporated into him in his fear of both rest and havdalah..#he doesnt feel safe to rest. he dreads the new week. his entire life he spends in dread even if he wants to protect his loved ones#gently pats the top of his head.. this boy's autistic#long text#bare chest#death#cw death#tw death#just in case

something bad happened to you, and you died, and you came back wrong.
not wrong all the way. the little ways. you forget important dates, stopped going out with friends. it's harder to make you smile. you're apathetic towards things you used to love, afraid of places you used to go to cheer up. quieter. flinching. different.
you came back for love. you're still here for love. what pulled you back was a brightness so loud that even death couldn't outshout it. death heard the call and smiled at you and said okay. go home. somebody is waiting for you.
but you came back different. like lot's wife; you've turned into salt. you used to chirp through life in hops and skips; but now you lose skin just standing up. you have to move slower, skimming across this world without-touching-it. most things feel dull - until they're suddenly all-too-much. life, and being alive just rushes up and over you and you get hopelessly crushed.
you try to explain it to them: it is ugly, but this is what you are, now. the huge golden hoop of your halo now a little bronze ring. you are still watering your plants and wearing the same clothes. after all, you worked hard to come home. this life; so odd and off-color, now that you are wrong.
but they waited for you - it's just that they wanted the "you" that happened before this. the "you" that could sing in the show and hug people tight and look at a blade without breaking down to cry. the you with a smile in pictures. god, holyshit, it's like looking at a completely different person, isn't it. that other-you; the one they actually wanted.
you are the consolation prize. you are the body that forgot the ghost. you are the memory of the bad thing, and the death after; like you are wearing that memory as a banner. you are a fragment, an assembly. simulacrum. you don't make eye contact in mirrors, afraid the light will glance off and your true nature will flash back at you.
you hear them talk about it in their hushed, desperate whispers. sometimes they even admit it to your face; harsh and violent, acid thrown at christmas dinner. god, can you just fucking be normal again. you do not remember what normal is. you had to climb so far to get back here; you are far too exhausted. you want to open the glass door of your heart and show all the gears. can you help resolve whatever got messed up?
you try so, so hard. you came back for them. because you believed they would love you, even when you were so horribly broken. because you believed they would be patient. because you believed unconditional meant "without exception." you cannot do things the same way. you just get tired too quickly these days.
you want to put them on a couch and pour them the tea with hands that shake more than they remember. you want to line them up and draw them a map of where you have had to wander. you want to show every bruise in a backsplash; the little helpless ant of your soul carrying all that weight, over and over. you want to say: yes! it is different! but i did it for love!
you want to say: "i'm not the same, but i'm yours and i'm here. can that be enough?"
#this is very obviously about my battle with#ptsd#but i think it's also like a pretty apt metaphor for a lot of things like setting boundaries or going to therapy or choosing recovery#i was thinking about the 'comes back wrong' trope and i was like. oh no i have feelings about this bc i have mental illness#and once i stopped masking - i was WRONG. i was different#here's the good news: i am now INNUNDATED with love. fucking swimming in it. excelling at it. the people who stayed#learned my new self. my new different body and how i am different but i am trying. they have held me so tightly#and my life no longer feels quiet. it is not based in my suffering. it feels like i have been growing a tree in my chest#and now it is flowering.#it is so lovely to be surrounded by people who have said - oh! you cut off so many branches i was worried you weren't the same. but now...#... this is just a new you. and i love you. and i love that you're different and happy.#(but yeah also im nb so i was absolutely influenced by Trans things)

really dislike the idea that being gender nonconforming immediately means you’re not allowed to be upset at getting misgendered… are only trans people who adhere to their gender stereotypes allowed to feel upset about something so personal? doesn’t make any sense. dressing like your agab doesn’t immediately mean you don’t deal with any trans issues ¿
#just very unnecessarily cruel#you guys are obsessed when cis ppl are gender nonconforming#god forbid a trans person does the same#what is the point of coming into a community just to say the same thing the people oppressing us say#rambles

Tired of people applying concepts of gender and gender hierarchy specifically made for cis people to trans people and thinking we're the problem when we point out that it doesn't fit.
#men privileged women not#so various groups will both correctly gender and misgender all trans people#and try to put one in the evil group#and when they're not cisnormative then the answer is yes they are#and try to come up with some theoretical notion why without asking them#notaterftip#not sarcasm#transgender#trans#yes this is about transandrophobia but can be applied to all of us#the same thing is done to justify transmisogyny and ignore nb people#im speaking as someone who's sick of being left behind in feminist discussion but also very aware that most of it excludes trans women too
