Did the battle with Shauna (chose Froakie for HM use, I don't plan to battle with anything aside from Garchomp unless there's points the game forces the player to use more than one Pokemon) and my proper starter has been acquired! (Outstanding EVs in everything but regular Defense. I could have probably bred for one without SpAtk, but 🤷‍♀️ Really just wanted to get this started.)

I'll do some EV- and Amie-grinding before I get to actually playing tho 😅

As an aside, I love how Shauna, for some reason, had no idea how Pokeballs worked despite previously likely having seen Fennekin coming out of its/going back in. Serena's just baffled.
