Uncharismatic Fact of the Day

Is that a deer or a mouse? It's a lesser mouse-deer! This species is one of the smallest hoofed animals, second only to its cousin, the Java mouse-deer. Lesser mouse deer stand only 45 cm (18 inches) at the shoulder and weigh less than 2 kg (4.4 lb). This makes it easy prey for animals like clouded leopards, large snakes, and birds of prey.

Java mouse-deer (Tragulus javanicus)

With pencil-sized legs and a weight of 2-4 pounds (1-2 kg), this mouse-deer is the smallest living species of hoofed mammal. It lives in the highland forests of Java, Indonesia, carving tiny tunnels through the brush to use as frequent paths. It eats leaves, fresh shoots, and very small fallen fruits and seeds. It also has the smallest known red blood cells of any mammal, many of which have an unusual shape, but the reason for this isn’t known.

I think those may be two different Chevrotain species.

Chevrotains, or mouse-deer, are diminutive, even-toed ungulates that make up the family Tragulidae, and are the only living members of the infraorder Tragulina. The 10 extant species are placed in three genera,[1][2] but several species also are known only from fossils.[3] The extant species are found in forests in South and Southeast Asia; a single species, the water chevrotain, is found in the rainforests of Central and West Africa.[4] In November 2019, conservation scientists announced that they had photographed silver-backed chevrotains (Tragulus versicolor) in a Vietnamese forest for the first time since the last confirmed sightings in 1990.[5][6][7]
