#BoormanLawyers appeared at #SouthportCourt on 29.01.18 for a client charged with High Range #DUI (0.196). Our client had been going through an extremely tough period in the lead up to the offence experience severe bouts of depression, anxiety & suicidal thoughts 〰〰〰〰〰〰〰〰〰〰〰〰〰 Our client recorded a very high Blood Alcohol Reading of (0.196) and to further aggravate the incident he crashed into a parked car causing significant damage to both vehicles. He completed a #TrafficOffenderProgram & re-educate himself on the dangers behind his actions. On Monday 21 Jan 2019 #BoormanLawyers appeared for a young Nigerian man who had been charged with High Range #DUI & Unlicensed Driving. To make matters worse he also had a prior High Range DUI offence from 3 years ago. As a young man who hasn’t been living in Australia all that long he had failed to grasp just how strict the Australian laws are in relation to #DrinkDriving. We promptly got him in to complete a #TrafficOffenderProgram where he was able to learn & appreciates the seriousness of these offences in Australia compared to the more relaxed attitude taken from his home country of #Nigeria 🇳🇬🇳🇬🇳🇬. We were able to swing him a good result. RESULT: ▪️1 yr minimum licence DQN for High Range DUI ▪️3 months minimum unlicensed drive (repeat offender) ▪️$1200 Fine in total ▪️Conviction record We were able to give our client a comprehensive run down of what is expected of him at law in Australia. #BoormanLawyers spent a lot of time over the past week at #SouthportCourt 〰〰〰〰〰〰〰〰〰〰〰〰〰〰〰 THURSDAY 23 November 2017 CHARGES: ▪️Low Range #DUI ▪️Unlicensed Driving ▪️Drive without due care Client was a #rehabilitation drug addict who had about 10 pages of criminal convictions in NSW. He had moved to #Qld to escape the drug life & obtain qualifications, a new full time job & a fiancé. Things were going well until he crashed into a barricade at a set of unmanned road works causing his car to roll over. Luckily no one was injured. However, due to the accident & not having a Qld licence & also being over the limit he found himself back before the Courts on the 3 charges. RESULT: We could show the court that this was clearly a backward step but he remained committed to continuing on his personal journey of sobriety & being law abiding. ▪️3 months Disqualification ▪️$350 Fine 〰〰〰〰〰〰〰〰〰〰〰〰〰〰〰 MONDAY 27 November 2017 CHARGES: ▪️Low Range DUI (0.053) The problem for my client was that even though he was just over the legal limit this was his 3rd DUI offence in 8 years. Usually he would be treated as a repeat offender however police failed to produce the required “Notice to allege Prior Offence” which meant that the Court could only treat it as a 1st offence. RESULT: ▪️1 month Disqualification ▪️$300 Fine 〰〰〰〰〰〰〰〰〰〰〰〰〰〰〰 TUESDAY 28 November 2017 CHARGES: ▪️Middle Range DUI (0.139) First time drink Driver but long time license holder. RESULT: Successful work licence application which literally means that our client could keep his job & continue to provide for his family. 〰〰〰〰〰〰〰〰〰〰〰〰〰〰〰 All clients received positive outcomes in their matters - however the most positive thing to come from each case was the fact that each client had (for the 1st time) gone along & participated in a #TrafficOffenderProgram which educates then on Driver safety & how to avoid finding themselves in a similar situation again.
