Traditional roses 🌹

A study of a Sailor Jerry style rose (ref on the right) and my first actual illustration in Procreate! I combined exploring the app with some studies of traditional tattoo roses because it's more technical that my usual doodles and therefore I was challenged to seek out more of the tools the app has. These roses are not easy, the initial sketch comes scarily close to math but it's a fun challnge and picking out colors to fit a design that's yellowed by aged varnish and being stained by decades of sigarette smoke was interesting as well.
