crayola markers are honestly so fucking good. with multiple coats you can get color looking real even on a sketchbook (i would def put a piece of flat carboard or thick cardstock behind the page youre working on in your sketchbook to keep it from bleeding through. also if you ever have a little extra $$$ a 6 pack of artist loft alochol markers (the grey range ones are nice) are r e a l l y good to use for traditional concept art or a sketchbook piece + applying plastic or cardboard to the back -
of your pages helps keep anything from bleeding FORWARD onto the page in front of it or from being smudged with crayons and having the color show slightly through the paper (really annoying to have color marks show through the paper on a pencil or pen piece smh)
not trying 2 bother you, sorry if that was unwanted! I've just had a lot of my sketchbooks get messy which made ne disheartened +not want to use them anymore smh
also, a 24 pack ( i think thats how many) of prismacolors are 8-12$ from walmart (they also usually go on sale after school starts and school supplies go on sale, i got em for 5$ one time) and a blender prismacolor pencil is a really nice investment
Dude, don’t even worry about it, i love this sort of thing!! and i totally get what you mean about messy sketchbooks lol, i had to start putting pieces of paper in between some old drawings bc pressing on the new pages would make the colored pencil on one page transfer onto another.
and i do have a set of prismacolors! i had to get a set of them for one of my classes this quarter and they’ve been neat! honestly i didn’t really use a whole lot of colored pencils Before so i don’t really have much of a frame of reference lol, they just feel like colored pencils to me. i don’t have a blender one but i Did see a demonstration of them the other day and it did seem Quite impressive so I might go ahead and make the investment soon.
having to buy things for classes is always Incredibly annoying bc it’s Such a huge price tag right up front but i won’t lie and say that having the stockpile of new shit hasn’t been interesting. it’s still annoying when i have to buy an entire Set of something moderately expensive bc i need it for One project but the thing about art supplies is that i can at least continue to use it once the class is over!!
