Do you also like the jurors from TGAA? Do you have any headcanons for them?
Ok so I spent like the whole day throwing these together, but here's a general overview and I'll go into more specifics after them
(the relationship chart is a mess and will probably change but it's a general idea)
This will contain spoilers for both tgaa games, spirit of justice and and plvsaa !
In regards to the names I believe I took Hugo Furst, Rhys (pronounced 'reece') Sarch and Fawltry Winks from that one reddit post about possible juror names.
Name puns !
Fawltry Winks = Forty winks (a slang term for a nap)
Rhys Sarch = Research
Chiroptera de Famme = Chiroptera is the order bats belong to and de Famme is the surname of Bonnie and Betty from Spirit of Justice
Newton Report = News report
Cassius Merryweather = Cassius sounds like cash in reference to him being a banker and Merryweather is the name of the bank owner from the redheaded league
Liston Well = listen well
Maisie Cobb = Maisie as in maize and cobb as in corn cob
Purl Annit = Purl and Knit (the usual phrase is knit and purl)
William Derbyshire = A character from the silver blaze
Connie Munication = communication
Todd Sweeney = Reverse of Sweeny Todd since he's a barber
Jackie Altrades = Jack of all trades, in reference to her doing a lot of different jobs as a maid
Miri Ohr = Mirror

Edward Harebrayne = Albert's siblings are all named in alphabetical order
Some notes on Maisie! She's described as a young girl but even in the Victorian era you had to be at least 18 years old to do jury duty, so she's 18, I would make her younger but come on we've got to have at least a little bit of historical accuracy here :)
The additional sibling connections with Miri and Edward are mostly based on vibes. I already had a headcanon that Albert was the oldest of a lot of siblings and Stereoscope Juror both looks similar and acts a bit similar to Albert so he fitted rather nicely. Miri looks kinda similar to Jezaille so they're sisters now. The reason they don't share surnames is due to a backstory that's way more focused on Jezaille but all that's really relevant is that Miri was very young when she was adopted by a friend of her mother and doesn't remeber Jezaille very well.
Some descendant headcanons! These are mostly focused on plvsaa as those characters make a bit more sense being related in my eyes.
Connie is Primstone's ancestor
Chiroptera is Bonnie and Betty de Famme's ancestor
Lettie Mailer is related to one of the Harebraynes (I haven't yet decided who)
Foxy is related to both Miri and Hugo, she's their however many great granddaughter

Okay, so I just found out that I can watch the whole 2015 stage production of ‘Shock Treatment’ on YouTube and, like, I have… so many thoughts and feelings. It really does demonstrate how Shock Treatment’s biggest flaws is just how unfocused and messy and… just needing one or two more rewrites to reach it's full potential.
Like there are a few tweaks to the dialogue that makes the whole narrative a bit simpler and easier to comprehend, the satire is a bit more focused on the core themes, I thought most of the jokes were pretty solid (and the more sexual ones offer somewhat of a stronger thematic link to ‘Rocky Horror’) and now there’s actually Shock Treatment in the plot of Shock Treatment!
I do really like how they tweaked the lyrics of some of the song to smooth over some of the remnant ‘these were written for a very different RHPS sequel and re-fitted into this plot’ weirdness. I especially like ‘I they need some young blood’ and the change to the title line in ‘Looking for Trade Fame’ and ‘Look what I you/he did to my Id” (meaning Farley). Sometimes ya just need to change just one lil' pronoun and the whole-ass song makes a lot more sense.
But the biggest positive change this Stage Version brought is the cast. Because ‘Shock Treatment’ the movie just has way too many characters. Like, look at this compared to RHPS’ cast list.
While this is maybe a natural result of the setting shift from an isolated castle to a whole town, it also leaves a lot of the secondary cast feeling flat and with no real space to develop. Comparing both of Little Nell’s roles is probably the best example. Nurse Ansalong is fun and Nell's performance is great as usual, but she’s just kinda around to be a RHPS nod and so Little Nell has Something to Do in this movie and an excuse to run around in a sexy nurse’s outfit. And these are all noble goals but… well, Columbia was an actual character, as campy as RHPS is, she was a character with emotions and pathos and tragedy and an important narrative and thematic role. Ansalong just never had the time to develop into someone with even a tenth of that depth.
(It also makes ‘Shock Treatment’ waaaay harder to Shadow Cast.)
So the stage version just cutting her out and… basically cutting everyone out except for Brad, Janet, Farley, the two Dr. McKinleys, Betty and Ralph just gives a much better chance for all of these characters to feel like actual people. Campy, exaggerated cartoony people - but definitely people.
Like, we get to spend a little more time on making the manipulation of Janet into a superstar feel more gradual and convincing. Which both help her work better as… basically the Emotional cornerstone of the whole story and make the villains feel more despicable and more competent. Which of course really helps the two Dr. McKinleys since all of Farley’s other minions have been cut. In general they get more opportunity to say funny stuff and can really see how they use their faux psychology and therapyspeak to control people.
....There's some level where I maybe think this script went a little too far in the other direction. That it's kinda disappointing that this Janet didn't never quite go off the deep end like her movie counterpart did. In general this version's slightly more.... grounded vibe - compared to the Movie's kinda Surrealist Nightmare Vibe - is one of the things I feel most conflicted about.
Like on one hand, this kinda campy nonsense world where gameshow hosts committing husbands to mental asylums and living your whole life on a sound-stage are normal is one of the most compelling parts of 'Shock Treatments' satire and it's kind of a shame to lose it... but also this more grounded tone creates a story that it's easier to follow an, more importantly, emotional stakes it's easier to get invested in. I think the Ideal Perfect Version of Shock Treatment’ that Exists Only in My Brain would be, tone-wise, in the middle between the movie and the stage show, but also maybe lean more towards the stage version?
The added details that Brad and Janet’s marriage has been hitting a rough patch because Brad has been fired from his job just as Janet has gotten a promotion (which I think is a detail from "The Brad and Janet Show" draft that was dropped from the 'Shock Treatment' movie?) adds some thematic resonance about the characters dealing with the Changing Times, the idea that Brad might feel emasculated with Janet’s success while has been (temporarily) regulated to the role of a househusband is maybe understandable but it is also understandable why it would frustrate Janet and thus lives her open to the McKinley's manipulations. Again, the characters are still kinda campy, still kinda silly - but having a bit of grounding for Brad and Janet’s relationship does help when this is basically… all the emotional stakes in the story.
Now, in the Ideal Perfect Version of Shock Treatment’ that Exists Only in My Brain, the rift in Brad and Janet relationship would’ve been created by the lingering effects of the events in the Frankenstein's Place. Janet would rather pretend they never happened but Brad is still visibly reeling from that time he got forced-femmed by aliens. And although the events of ‘Rocky Horror' did definitely happen in this version, it’s mentioned as just a throwaway joke (“We’ve been through so much together! Infidelity, homicide, aliens, fishnet stockings… and that’s just the engagement party”). Still, it was a funny throwaway joke - and the promotion-and-firing idea they went with makes thematic sense in this version of ‘Shock Treatment’.
Farley Flavors also get a bit of a ‘boost’ from the trimmed cast but… honestly the changes to his character are the ones I am most split about. Because this version of Farley Flavors is generally better because there’s a bit more… flavor to him. A more visibly wacky personality, a few more gimmicks to him. And when I first saw him I was actually… pretty hyped about him as the main villain.
Because, okay, the main problem with Farley as a villain is that, despite Cliff De Young’s excellent performance, he really is just another Evil 80’s Businessman and that feels a bit bland in the wacky world of Rocky Horror. Like, the whole ‘long-lost twin brother’ twist is supposed to feel like the counterpart to the Alien Twist in RHPS and a parody of stupid soap opera twists in general. But… the thing is that even before we found out he was an alien, Frank was already an incredibly distinctive and unique character. Being revealed as an alien in the last act of the story doesn’t define him.
But since Farley doesn’t have as much going for his character, the stupid parody long-lost brother twist does end up being his defining trait and it makes his whole character feel lackluster because… it’s a stupid parody twist!
But since Twenty-Fifteen Farley is Fairly Far-Fetched right from the get-go this means the twist has more of a chance to feel more like the original Aliens Twist. Plus, there’s bits of dialogue here and there that feel like Foreshadowing. Farley constantly reiterates that Denton is his hometown, and that he’s a self-made man (which connects to the briefly-alluded-to implication that he was adopted into a poorer family than Brad’s and that's the source of his resentment), him saying some very Ominous Things to Bard at the end of ‘Lullaby’
And then…. It turns out this version decided to cut the long-lost twin thing!
Which… honestly I probably should’ve seen coming from the casting choices.
And like, I see the logic here. Obviously the double-casting gimmick does not work on stage, that was supposed to be a parody of soap-opera twists and that element is a lot more downplayed in this version of ‘Shock Treatment’ and like… since this plot point has been already been heavily criticized in the film version I can see why they would want to cut it.
But… it’s not just that I feel like this twist would’ve worked better in this version it’s also that… cutting this plot point and replacing it with nothing just makes Brad - who is already kinda relegated into glorified McGuffin for most of this story - feel like he had even less to do with the plot and makes Farley’s apparent animosity for Brad even more inexplicable and shoddy.
Like, Farley still says he chose Janet ‘because of [Brad]’ so I guess we’re supposed to believe that he just finds Brad to be such a massive lameo that it makes him seethe with a burning hatred of a thousand suns. Which is an even flimsier motivation than that Twin Stuff in the movie.
‘Duel Duet’ always has that problem that it was originally written for two characters with a very powerful well-established rivalry and emotional stakes (Dr. Frank N’ Furter and Riff-Raff) and then had to be transplanted into being about these two schmucks who barely even know each other. And removing the Twin Twist just kinda removes whatever emotional stakes they did have and exacerbates the problem.
.....Honestly, I think the main way to really ‘fix’ Duel Duet is… instead of that one kinda ‘Girl Power’ moment they tried to give Janet that I feel is a bit too heavy-handed and obvious…
Just make ‘Duel Duet’ a Farley versus Janet song!
Like, Janet is unquestionably THE Main Character of the story with the most important emotional journey of all of the characters, she was the core target of Farley’s manipulation and the focus of his schemes, she’s the one who actually got to interact with him and developed any sort of relationship with him, the focus of this scene is on how Janet realizing she has been used by him, she already spends all of Duel Duet physically kicking his ass…
Janet should also be the one to musically face-off against Farley, especially if you remove the only reason why Farley has to hate Brad so much. Like, yeah, she does get to beat him physically... but because this is a musical - the Songs are the thing that gets the biggest emotional and narrative priority. The person who gets to Duel Duet with the Farley is the person who really beats him. And this is really moment that should belong to Janet in this version of the story.
And maybe removing one of the few Things Brad actually gets to do in this plot which is also his Big Musical Number would kinda suck for him, but… well, this version also gives Brad a nice lil’ Triumphant Reprise of ‘In My Own Way’ where he reaffirms his love for Janet and maybe you can expand that into his Big Musical Number and… y’know, if the rift in their marriage was at least kinda about Brad’s insecurities about Janet becoming the Main Breadwinner of the household… Maybe it’ll be a good resolution to his story to embrace being Janet’s little Damsel in Distress?
(I mean, I think this is an element in this musical as it is but.... but you could've leaned into it more!)
And with both Oliver Wright and Macy Struthers cut, that gives more material to make Betty’s character more interesting. Without Oliver, Betty generally gets to talk about her ongoing investigation with Janet - and that means the two of them get to have more interactions and a more visible friendship. And on the other hand, She starts out as Ralph Hapshatt’s cohost, putting on a very Macy-esque false smile and pretending they’re still happily married. It’s a fun, character-specific spin on the whole ‘falsehood of television’ motif of ‘Shock Treatment’.
(Also since Oliver is cut, it means Betty, Janet and Brad sing “Anyhow, Anyhow” as a trio. Which… I think that means they’re gonna have a threesome. And you know what? I support Janet Majors and her two girlfriends!)
And Ralph… really got the biggest boost in personality from the trimming of the cast - especially as most of the singing roles of these cut characters for assigned to him. Like, okay, I think something that’s kind of a problem with the ending of the original ‘Shock Treatment’ is how… unambiguous it is when compared to ‘Rocky Horror’.
Because ‘Rocky Horror’ has a very morally ambiguous cast - pretty much every character has some element that makes them at least a little bit sympathetic and also… well, if not morally wrong than at least an (Audience Participation Voice) ASSHOLE (but also yeah, a lot of them are morally reprehensible even when working against other morally reprehensible characters). And the ending leaves it ambiguous whatever Frank got what he deserves or whatever his death is a tragedy, or some combinations of the two. Not to mention the ambiguity of what happened to Brad and Janet; whatever they’ve been liberated or exploited or corrupted and whatever or not they’re better off being left behind on earth or remaining in Frank’s clutches.
And meanwhile ‘Shock Treatment’ has a VERY clear-cut ending. There is a unambiguous differentiation between the characters who are the Good Guys, and those who are Bad Guys and those who are the Bad Guys’ Gullible Victims. And, like, yeah, all the Bad Guys succeeded in their evil scheme and and are now basically literally rolling in cash
…but literally any character who has any redeeming qualities gets to happily escape this Nightmare Studio while singing a cheery song about sex.
Even Oscar Drill and the Bits, who are quite literally Bit Characters and have very little characterization or connection to our Main Foursome, get to escape. Basically just because what little we got from them made them seem like a nice group of young gays and they never did anything bad.
And all of the people who stayed behind were portrayed as such exaggerated cartoonish bigoted caricatures literally rushing in excitement to get themselves exploited. Nor do we get any moment for our protagonists to show any sort of concern or regret or sadness about these people who they've known all of their lives. So it’s really hard to care about them as, like, Real People who've been duped into being ground down by this awful machine of capitalism and conformism.
I understand the idea that having a wider cast makes Denton feel more like a Town compared to the isolated feeling of the Frankenstein’s Place, and that seeing all of these people fall for Farley’s bullshit in their own slightly-different ways help drives home how prevalent and influential and powerful this capitalist proudly-selfish image-obsessed philosophy really is. But… none of these characters get enough time to develop into anything but shallow parodies of Society. There’s just not enough humanity in them to sell even an ounce of the tragedy of Columbia and Rocky's deaths.
So condensing all of these slightly-different characters into Ralph Hapshatt… that really made him the most complicated and morally-ambiguous character in this whole musical. Because, yeah, he is a self-obsessed sexist asshole driven primarily by a desire for fame and fortune but…
We spend enough time with him to humanize him. To see how he’s struggling with internalized homophobia and how he does have his doubts about what Farley and Co. are doing to his best friends even if his thirst for fame keep winning the moral battle and that said thirst for fame is pretty obviously born from a desperate need for love and validation that this homophobic corporate world just can’t give him.
So when the show ends with him being happily strapped unto to the Shock Treatment device he illegally modified with his own two hands because he just can’t allow himself to refuse a chance to star on TV - on some level this is karma, but it’s also a grim reminder that even if our threesome of heroes are happy and free, this exploitative entertainment machine also 'just got to keep going', just got to keep grinding down other people in the name of mental health, the American family and quality entertainment.
And although we’ve technically scaled down from a whole town to just one guy, this feels so much more tragic because as selfish as Ralph is, and as silly and intentionally-ridiculous as the writing is sometimes, he still feels so much like a person.

OMG anon. i love this question, i love concepts i love riffing but i'm also overwhelmed by it. ten is soooo many!! lemme dig through my gdrive fanfic graveyard for a second...and lemme put this under a cut to save some eyes.
hirarchie plots in my drafts folder:
one of those "i didn't know where else to go..." hero turns up on villain's doorstep after a trauma fics, in which archie seeks out hiram bc he thinks he's more interested in revenge than like. medical assistance or emotional support.
continued vampire AU ft archie getting properly bitten, more veronica triangulation, more shame
s3 juvie arc AU in which hiram actually visits to be so so soooo soso so nasty and sick about it all
kind of a dreamy fairy tale AU where archie is an ex-mermaid with very sharp teeth (but he already traded his voice and fins away to a different witch who skipped town in her volkswagen beetle) and hiram is a warlock and veronica is in kind of a cinderella-rapunzel situation.
a sort of inception<>rivervale fusion in which rivervale is explicitly kind of built around archie's subconscious and he keeps trying and killing and dying over and over in an attempt to create a hiram-free world where his dad might come back. narrator jughead is there trying to pick up the pieces every time archie bails out. hiram might be becoming meta-aware, or it might just be that archie can't imagine him without every advantage
fic where there's a zombie apocalypse on, and hiram has zombie archie locked in the basement at pop's. (archie pov of course)
my long slow serial wip where s5 archie goes with hiram when he's exiled and kind of rehashes teen traumas but (he thinks) without any illusions about what he's doing. reggie is there now so all i do is think about toxic reggie-on-hirarchie dynamics now. it's going medium.

s6 reggie/kevin(/percival) i've been thinking a lot about s6 reggie/kevin(/percival). troubling. troubling! anyway even outside of the dynamics of reggie wanting to rescue kevin from mind control, i keep thinking kevin would be fascinated with reggie's puppet conscience. i think he'd try to adopt it as his own or at least share, he needs one too. i think they could get intensely psychosexual or simply sexual about the whole situation.
sex pollen. traditional sex pollen. riverdale is from one angle a comics fandom, and you can't have a comics fandom without some writer doing the needful and launching fuck-or-die chemicals at some characters sometime. percival's reggie-on-archie stabbing aggression spell already kind of had that vibe, which is probably why i think it should be archie/reggie. but i would also accept kevin/archie with a slightly different tone, kevin/jughead with a VERY different tone, etc etc etc. (and betty/cheryl. idk why them, they're not even my main f4f ship. i just think they'd wear it well.)

WENT AND SAW THE ERAS TOUR MOVIE LIKE AN HOUR AGO AND AHHHHHHHHHH. IT WAS SO GOOD (spoilers under the cut)
so my movie theater didn't have popcorn buckets bc their shipment is currently lost
but i got a cup and a poster
i planned on making like 50 bracelets but ended up only making like 20
which is good though cause pretty much nobody had bracelets to trade
i traded 1 and gave out all but 2
i don't know how people don't cry the entire concert
bc i almost cried several times during the movie so the actual concert i think would have me dead
so now im gonna go by era and discuss it
lover:
the opening made me cry
i whisper sung the beginning bc it was still kinda awkward and nobody else was singing loud
until the cruel summer bridge
then we all sung it loud
i LOVE the man and loved getting to see the things i hadn't noticed from tiktok (like the specific dance moves, etc)

im so upset she cut the archer

but im glad it was, it made it feel more authentic
also the quality of everything was SO good
overall i loved it and if you're debating on going just do it (im thinking about going with my friends to watch it a 2nd time...). I'd give it like 1000/10 tbh

In a whirlwind of muscle tees, shorts, and "just-woke-up-like-this" hair, Leighton gave everyone a masterclass in looking both exhausted and gorgeous at the same time. Can anyone else pull off the “I just crushed this workout but also kinda forgot to sleep last night” look like this queen? Now onto her second part of her day, Breaking News: Leighton Whitlock Bakes, Slays, and Serves… Cookies! Fashionistas, brace yourselves! Our favorite Red Edge darling, Leighton Whitlock, has traded her usual gym glam for oven mitts and apron realness, and honestly? We are living for it! Spotted in the kitchen, whipping up some cookies that, let's be real, probably taste like sweet, sugary perfection, Leighton gave us the ultimate "Betty Crocker but make it fashion" moment. In a pink skirt and coordinating kitchen accessories (because of course she matches her mixer!), this baking queen is proving you can serve looks while serving…well, actual cookies. Count Your Lucky Stars (2020, Chinese Drama)
Lu Xing Cheng is a talented fashion designer and editor who has it all! Taste, looks, luck and talent, he checks the boxes. Except he comes off cold, egotistical and rude to those around him. Opposite his success is Tong Xiao You. She wants to be a fashion designer but it stuck in another department at the company never getting the opportunity to do what she loves. She feels her whole life has been a series of bad luck events in which she can’t escape. A chance kiss on the roof top of the job reverses the fate of these two people bringing Xing Cheng to depths he hasn’t wallowed in for a while. It brings Xiao You success she never imagined. As they both fight each other to trade the luck, a love story happens!
I don’t think I have expressed my love enough for Shen Yue on this blog enough. I love her as an actress! All I’ve her works make me smile EXCEPT (Another Me)! Not her fault the writing was just shitty! Let’s also address the age gap. Yes it is big, 20 years to be exact. Are there times I wish they cast someone closer to her age, yes, but overall Jerry does an amazing job and you barely notice the age gap between them, so get over it!
All this to say, let’s get into this one. I know I talk a lot about my comfort shows and this is one of them. The way her and Jerry commit to their roles and play so well off each other makes watching this show so fun every time I watch it.
The bad guys really have you feeling some type of way. The two second love interests have you feeling sorrow and pity. The plot line though super implausible still makes for a compelling watch! If you were ever an Ugly Betty fan, this show will give you Ugly Betty vibes and I live for it!
If I am one thing I am consistent, I absolutely love the second and third love stories. I’m also super invested in the subplots and history between all the characters. This show takes you for a ride, and you will enjoy it!
Let’s talk commitment because this is a Chinese drama so it is long! 45 minutes at 34 episodes. This is one I can drop in and out of so I don’t mind the length, I’ll binge a couple one day and come back a few days later no problem. Also no reason to sit and binge it all at once, it is good, but not that good!
All the actors are handsome. All the actresses are gorgeous! It is a visually fun show with the colors and fashion. 8/10.
Music wise, Jerry Yan and Shen Yue have a track on the OST, it is not one of my favs, but it does pop up in rotation for me! Jerry is such a talented singer I could listen to him sing anything! Of course Shen Yue is also good on the track as well.

Riverdale, 6x08 - The Town
In an interview about a month ago, Roberto said that episode 6 and 7 would be the aftermath of the bomb and that episode 8 would be the start of the main story. Hmm, turns out Roberto can actually tell the complete truth from time to time.
Just to start with Cheryl's story. Cheryl is trapped in some sort of subconscious dream world by Abigail and only Britta can help her by joining her in Abigail's dream. Shades of Nightmare on Elm Street here (specifically, the third one). But we really triple down on the Mommy Dearest vibes inside the actual dream. However, I do have to wonder if there's some truth to these dreams. Like did Cheryl have her hair cut after the issue with Heather? Britta is able to convince Cheryl these are all terrors inside her head and now Cheryl wants Britta to help her remove Abigail from her body (look, it's a whole thing....).
Veronica wants to prove that she can work within the law with her new casino and that she's not her father. That last for about...ohhh...three seconds until a man commits suicide (after talking to Pickens) and she has to hide the body. Enter Abuela's Godson (I really need to learn his name) to help her with her problems. She totally will bang him at some point this season. Also, after Alice says that the Lodge family is the worst thing that ever happened to Riverdale (really retconning your own history there Alice), Veronica just decides "Fuck it, I'm evil now."
Meanwhile, I actually have to give it to the writers on this....there actually is a bit of good social commentary in this episode. Pickens points out everything that's wrong in Riverdale, but instead of giving actual solutions to help the town, he does what every bastardized politician does throughout history and blames all the problems on some of the most vulnerable people in society. In this case, all their problems will go away if they just remove the people living in Skid Row. Now, Archie wants to believe that the people of Riverdale won't do this; but everything that Pickens says about the people of Riverdale? About what they will do? It's spot on. I mean, with my job I deal with a lot of these social issues. It's nice to want to believe people will do good, and there are many people that will do good, but Pickens ain't exactly wrong about the citizens of Riverdale here.
Also, he apparently can control people by planting suggestions into people's heads. And when too many of the people seem to want to help with Jughead's plan (he is the one that came up with it), he makes it so that people become afraid by having Doc attack Kevin. Or say things, like reminding Alice that her daughter was murdered (which I'd like to remind Alice that Polly was killed by distant relatives, not people in Skid Row). In the end, though, Pickens is able to convince the people of Skid Row to leave (or he killed them, that line was ominous). Honestly, barring the whole mind control aspect, this story is kind of true to life and the ending is pretty much the outcome we see.
Well, almost. Kevin has found a new person to worship and it's become a family affair as Sheriff Keller has invited Pickens to become a deputy.
Speaking of minds, Jughead appears to be lying to everyone and saying his hearing has returned. In fairness, would anyone believe him beside Archie and Betty? However, when he tries to read Pickens mind, Pickens knows he's in there. Jughead realizes, after talking to Doc, that Pickens has the power to control people and, afterwards, tells Archie the truth about his mindreading. Which Archie then tells Betty.
But here's the interesting thing. So, we have Jughead who can read minds at the cost of his hearing. Archie seems to be invulnerable unless he's around Palladium. Then Betty, who returns at the end of the episode, mentions that she's getting migraines because she has become sensitive to light (light actually causes her physical pain). So, it looks like all the powers have some sort of trade off.
But you know what's the most amazing thing about this episode? Characters interact. Like, yes we have more then one story, but they all are connected or may become connected in some way (Abigail's/Cheryl's story isn't quite there, but Abigail does seem to want to partner with Pickens).

Reptiles are not usually shipped in boxes that look different from regular mail, so they can be easily lost by overwhelmed staff.
Hatchery chicks are shipped out before they have a first meal because it’s cheaper to replace them if they die than feed them for a week.
The crates made for pigeons and other legal poultry are designed around bird physiology and air thermodynamics, keeping the birds cool and asleep most of the trip. They are not shaped like the average box used for shipping inanimate objects, and they stand out like a sore thumb, making them harder to misplace or lose track of. Healthy Pigeons over 6 weeks old who start the journey well hydrated are comfortably travel safe up to 7 days.

folklore - a reading
If you’re a swiftie (officially not capitalized now), like me, you’ve probably been experiencing the mystical reverb and spiritual reckoning that is folklore. You’ve also probably been reading plenty of reviews and analysis articles--there are some stellar articles out there already.
Listening to the album is like lying in a meadow over the course of a summer day, afternoon thunderstorm, and the harsh sunset that comes afterwards, spiraling through memories and contemplation. It’s the best of the worst feelings you’ll ever have, and you can’t stop.
So, compulsively, I had to share my own interpretations and thoughts as I listen to the album again for the 7th time.
the 1 - Starting out with just piano, and then turning into what feels like a casual bop, the attitude of this song starts out very ‘I Forgot That You Existed’. And we hold onto that cavalier, ‘oh well’ attitude until... UNTIL. “If my wishes came true, it would’ve been you.” That line starts the slow ache that builds through the end of the track and makes this song much more more layered and complex than the first song of Lover. Perhaps this is a more honest version of the same feeling. Swift digs deep into that nostalgic feeling, letting us vibe to the wistful wishing at the same time. And of course, there is foreshadowing in the lyrics--film, graves, rose, chosen-family, painting. All of these reappear later on in various songs on the album, and some have been themes from earlier albums, too (especially graves).
Highlight lyric: “In my defense I have none // for digging up the grave another time.”
cardigan - We start with a beat that sounds reminiscent of “high heels on cobblestones,” and it emphasizes this early imagery. Being young is one of the major themes of this song, even though it’s also part of the triptych of songs about a love triangle. The nostalgia feels more specific to young love generally than to the specific lover, asking us to wonder why we judge the young perspective so harshly. The song is an anthem to how much she knew about love, including the pain of it, despite what people say. Swift has shown a special appreciation for the wisdom and raw experience of youth, and this song is another classic defense of the teenage experience. The metaphors in this song are classic Swift, and the structure of this song is reminiscent of ‘All Too Well’--the chorus lyrics change just a bit each time, and we get a powerful, gut-punch verse at the end.
Highlight lyric: “I knew you’d haunt all of my what-ifs // the smoke would hang around this long // cause I knew everything when I was young.”
the last great american dynasty - ‘The Man’ was probably Swift’s first real feminist anthem, directly stating how sexism affects her career and the perception people have of her. But this song gets at feminism from another perspective. First of all, she’s telling the story of Rebekah Harkness, who was the heiress that lived in her Rhode Island mansion before her. She was a trouble-maker in her town, blamed for her husband’s death and for ruining the calm status quo of the old money neighborhood. It’s completely apparent that Swift relates to this experience, and she likely knew some of this story before she purchased her home. In telling the story of a powerful, interesting woman, Taylor is rebelling against the patriarchy in a slightly subtler way than her previous songs--though she still makes her point pretty clear. Swift cares about the herstory of her home, and she’s made this story iconic by including it on her album. It’s like she took the idea of ‘Starlight,’ but instead of retelling a happy love story, she used her powers for an even more important tale. Now, there are also two potential connections to note: Rebekah also went by Betty, and her maiden name was West. Just remember that. And of course, the theme of the mad woman returns later as well.
Highlight lyric: “who knows if I never showed up what would have been // there goes the most shameless woman this town has ever seen // she had a marvelous time ruining everything.”
exile - I like to imagine this song as the follow up to ‘The Last Time,’ from Red. Both are duets, and they both have relatively simple, but strong chords as the primary musical backdrop. Where ‘The Last Time’ depicts a relationship at the cusp, moments before their final conversation, ‘exile’ is post break-up. She’s out with someone new, and we understand this is an unspoken conversation across a room. And the vibe of the songs fit with this progression perfectly. ‘The Last Time’ feels like anxious desperation, but exile feels heavy and depressingly final. We revisit the film motif, and there’s some potential connection to the archived ‘If This Was A Movie’. Now, is that intentional, or does Swift just really like movie imagery? Does it matter? The build in this song is arguably the best on the album, which I think is partly due to the style of the musicality, and partly because it’s helpful to have a lower voice to mix it up. This song sounds the least ‘Swift-esque’ to me--reminds me of Damien Rice most of all--but it still fits beautifully into the album. Also, lots of callbacks in here--town and crown are used a LOT in her prior albums. A few examples: “You traded your baseball cap for a crown” in ‘Long Live’, “They took the crown but it's alright” in ‘Call it What You Want,’ “Staring out the window like I’m not your favorite town” in ‘False God.’ Now, again, these could just be words that she loves to use (they also rhyme with a lot), or there could be some deeper connections. I’m guessing it’s somewhere in the middle.
highlight lyric: “second, third, and hundredth chances // balancin' on breaking branches // those eyes add insult to injury”
my tears ricochet - I’ll admit this song had to grow on me a little bit. Why? Well, I don’t love revenge-ballads. But, this is much more complex than LWYMMD, and like the rest of the album, it centers the more vulnerable side of her anger. This song is 100% about Big Machine Records and Scooter Braun. The funeral is for her--or the version of herself that died just before Reputation--and she is back as a ghost (or another version of herself) to haunt those who caused her death. It’s slow, moody, haunted... Everything you want from a bitter funeral march. The best part of this song is that she doesn’t solely pass blame. She shows off her self-awareness, which has become more common in all her music since 1989, but still very clearly places responsibility on Scooter for her ‘stolen lullabies’ (i.e. her masters). Swift claims this song is about young love gone wrong--but, death is a pretty intense metaphor, and given that she blatantly used it (for the first, and maybe only time?) to talk about her career, I don’t think anyone is buying it.
highlight lyric: “I didn’t have it in myself to go with grace // and you’re the hero flying around saving face”
mirrorball - Maybe I’m just a biased toward romantic and nostalgic songs, because I don’t love this one either. (I’m sorry!) But, here’s what I’ll say: this song is still exquisite. It reminds me of the reverb-radio-vibe of the late 80s songs, but with the astral, saccharine flavor of the rest of the album. If you condensed the Miss Americana documentary into a song, this would be it. A reflection (get it?) of fame and her desire to be everything to everyone--to be well liked, to be the center of attention. The coolest thing about ‘mirrorball,’ to me, is that she hasn’t written a song quite like this before. It’s sort of a manic-pixie-dream-girl version of herself. Swift is telling us that she knows who she is, and that comes with seeing the less ‘pretty’ side.
highlight lyric: “I’m still a believer, but I don’t know why // I’ve never been a natural, all I do is try, try try.”
seven - Can you say haunting innocence? This is a great song for half-attentive listening in the sun, and it could almost be a lullaby. In Swift-lore, the theme of childhood shows up every so often, like in ‘Mary’s Song,’ ‘The Best Day,’ ‘It’s Nice to Have a Friend,’ and ‘Christmas Tree Farm.’ This one is definitely the most dreamy, and it is also tinged with that darkness that consistently underlies all the tracks on this album--“Are there still beautiful things?” Imagine a sepia filter, and that’s kind of what this song embodies. Some fans have wondered about this song as a possible hint to bisexuality and/or relationships with women in general. (See Kaylor fan theories if you want to dive deep.) I can see this--the childhood friend has braids, which could imply she’s a little girl, and they ‘hide in the closet’. However, it seems more likely to me that this is coincidence. Lots of kids play in their closets, and if the song is about the friend’s father being angry all the time (and maybe abusive?) hiding in the closet also makes literal sense. I think the imagery in this song is some of my favorite on this album.
Another interesting point that I haven’t seen discussed so far is that Swift names this song ‘seven’ spelled out, yet uses the number ‘1′ in the first track title. The only other track she uses numbers in the name is ‘22′, which is about being 22. So, she could be trying to push past the idea that ‘seven’ is just about being 7 years old--though I do think it’s about that, too. She could also be intentionally connecting ‘the 1′ to ‘22′ in some way. They are both a similar vibe, and perhaps they even refer to the same time period in her life. If we go with that theory, who was T dating at 22? The most likely candidate for that timeframe is Conor Kennedy, which was sort of short-lived, and didn’t seem to end with as much fire as many of her break-ups. So, it’s possible that it’s about him. Or, maybe she just wanted to make sure we knew that ‘the 1′ was a concept she doesn’t really believe in anyway, and didn’t want to grant it the full word ‘one’. Will we ever know?
highlight lyric: “Before I learned civility // I used to scream // Ferociously // Any time I wanted”
august - It seems clear to me that this is the second song in the love-triangle narrative. I’ve heard people claim this is ‘illicit affairs’, but those people obviously haven’t looked at the lyrics. The narrator says ‘James, get in the car,’ which is directly connected to the lyrics in ‘betty.’ But, even without that obvious link, the style of august fits in with the stylistic choices of ‘cardigan’ and ‘betty’. All three have strong instrumental tracks complementing the vocals, soft harmonies, and lots of wistful lyrics. ‘illicit affairs’ cuts much sharper and deeper, but more on that later. Combining the dreamy vibes of ‘seven’ with the slight bop of ‘the 1′, this track is sticky--easy to get stuck in your head. The only thing I wonder about this song is how old this narrator is meant to be. They’re drinking wine, and she references going ‘back to school,’ which sort of feels like a reference to the college experience. But, the betty and james characters make numerous references that feel like high school. So, maybe this affair took place in another city with a college girl? I have to wonder if this is Swift referencing some of the age-gap relationships she’s been in. Again, with Conor Kennedy, she was 22, and he was 18. She also supposedly crashed his sister’s wedding in August, and that was the start of the end of their short romance. I’m just saying...
highlight lyric: “Wanting was enough, for me it was enough // to live for the hope of it all.”
this is me trying - If ‘The Archer’ was Swift confessing to her bad habits after a couple early relationship fights, ‘this is me trying’ is a desperate reminder a few months into the relationship. The two songs are sonically very similar, and I didn’t love the vibe (sorry, again!) the first time. But, I do love the artistic continuation. ‘this is me trying’ slows us down even more than ‘The Archer’ did, with a drum line that is almost like a heart beat, and it feels much less hopeful as a result. The lyrics are also some of the darkest I’ve heard from Swift--”I got wasted like all my potential” and “could’ve followed my fears all the way down.” My heart almost can’t handle this song, to be honest. She also references films again, but my favorite imagery connection is her standing over the lookout, which calls back to Rebekah looking out over the sea in LGAD.
highlight lyric: “and maybe I don't quite know what to say // but I'm here in your doorway”
illicit affairs - This song has that ‘All Too Well’ ache with a hint of ‘Death by A Thousand Cuts’ energy, and personally, I love it. You’ve got the busy instrumental strings underneath a simple, yet haunting melody line, and it’s that light, anxious tension that fits beautifully with the theme of the song. The lyrics depict the simple, small heartbreaking things that remind you of the pain you’re putting yourself through, which is reflected in the slightly surprising, soaring note at the end of the line in the verses. Whether you’ve actually been involved in an affair, these feelings show up in plenty of toxic relationships, and that universality is part of what makes the song powerful. The lyrics aren’t about pretty images, but that’s sort of the point. It’s prime Swift conversational lyricism, and you could pick out any number of lines that make a painful short poem all by themselves.
highlight lyric: “and you wanna scream // don’t call me “kid,” don’t call me “baby” // look at this godforsaken mess that you made me // you showed me colors you know I can’t see with anyone else”
invisible string - The primary love song on the album, this feels like a follow up to ‘Lover,’ maybe something she’d sing after being married a year or two. It’s sort of like ‘Mine,’ but much more mature, partly indicated by the pace of the song, which is steady and sure of itself. It’s also lovely to me that she’s returned to a bit of her country vibes--I ask you, would it feel like true end-game love for Swift if she couldn’t write a country love song about it? Back when she wrote country, all her happy ending songs were merely aspirational, and now they feel true. This is also 100% about Joe Alwyn, and to me, this is proof they have not broken up like some early reviews speculated. We also need to acknowledge that she’s past the Joe Jonas break up (um, good, that was ages ago) and is sending him and Sophie presents for their baby. I read a review that basically said this song seems a little too ‘all tied up’ for Swift, and that it doesn’t feel as genuine as a result. I sort of agree, but if we can take a sad song and accept that it isn’t how she feels 100% of the time, can’t we also do that with happy songs? Plus, she technically does say that it would be ‘pretty to think,’ which sort of implies it’s more a thought experiment than an actual belief. So, there’s that little twinge of sadness we needed to appease the folklore goddess. Oh, and of course, there’s a reference to Lover’s color scheme, saying time “gave me the blues and then purple-pink skies.” Which, many Kaylor hopefuls read as a reference to the Bi pride flag. To that, I just say... Maybe?
highlight lyric: “time, mystical time // cutting me open, then healing me fine”
Mad woman - My favorite thing about this song is the piano melody that happens in the background the whole song, working in concert with the main melody, but also completely independent (and haunting). It reminds me of one concept of madness--having multiple voices or thoughts going on simultaneously. But of course, it’s artfully and perfectly put together, which is the whole point. What could be perceived as madness is, in this case, what makes her able to create a masterful work of art. Now, this is also certainly a song about her masters, Scooter Braun, and Scott Borchetta. But it is also another feminist anthem. Women are taught not to be angry, not to yell, not to react with any emotionality otherwise we are discredited entirely. Swift directly calls this to attention by explaining that we’re angry for a reason--often antagonized intentionally until ‘you find something to wrap your noose around.’ She also makes the important point that women can also ‘hunt witches,’ and can be complicit in treating one another poorly. This is a reference to Scooter Braun’s wife defending him publicly against Taylor. Probably the most savage line is about the ‘master of spin’ having affairs, which she implies his wife knows about and seems to passively accept. But Swift doesn’t go too hard on her, reminding us that ‘no one likes a mad woman’, and that pressure is real. Could this ‘master of spin’ also be Scooter? I think probably. But I did read that some people are connecting this song to Hillary Clinton (she’s a scorpio, and the song references a scorpion sting), and that maybe Trump is the adulterer here... I feel like that’s a stretch, but I appreciate the interpretation.
highlight lyric: “What a shame she went mad // You made her like that”
epiphany - I suspect this song is directly related to how Swift is processing the current state of the pandemic. The atmospheric vibe with slow, clock-ticking beat in the background really feels momentous and poignant. Yes, she starts with images conjured from her grandfather’s stories of World War II, but she quickly seems to compare this awful battle to the doctors fighting COVID-19 on the frontlines in hospitals. The lyrics are simple, repetitive, and powerful. With so many ill literally struggling to breathe, the lines about breathing out really do hit especially hard these days. I can’t believe that wasn’t a thoughtful choice. The chorus is just barely hopeful, reminiscent of the numbness we all have to use as a coping mechanism to get through traumatic experiences. But it’s that little sliver of hope that makes the song even sadder--is that possible?
highlight lyric: “only twenty minutes to sleep // but you dream of some epiphany // just one single glimpse of relief // to make some sense of what you've seen”
betty - Give me all that Tim McGraw, Love Story, early Taylor pop-country. This song is definitely enhanced in part because of its connections to ‘cardigan’ and ‘august,’ but it stands strong on its own. It’s old news at this point, but James and Inez are based on the names of Blake Lively and Ryan Reynolds’s daughters, so it’s all-but-confirmed that their third daughter was named Betty. Written from the perspective of James, there is massive speculation out there about whether the narrator is meant to be a boy or a girl. There are reasonable clues on both sides, so I’ll just say this: I love Taylor, but she’s always been a little late to the party when it comes to socialized ideas of male/female. Because of that, I don’t think she’d have a female narrator riding a skateboard. I also feel from the style of narration--“I don’t know anything;” “just a summer thing;” “would you tell me to go fuck myself”--it does sound more like stereotypical teenage boy language than what we know as swiftie teenage girl language. What I do like about this song, though, is that because it’s written from James’s perspective, it does sort of leave a wider opening for personal interpretation than some of her other love-story-like songs. The reason I personally love this song is that it’s mostly about redemption and forgiveness. Everyone has wished someone who broke their heart would write this song about them, and so it offers catharsis. Plus, it’s the only song on the album that truly feels happy at the end--thanks, key change! It’s refreshing and heartening, and it’s good timing, too. After the heaviest song on the album, we needed it. (Oh, and there’s a callback to the broken cobblestones from ‘cardigan’. And then he literally mentions her cardigan. So.)
highlight lyric: “if you kiss me // will it be just like I dreamed it? // will it patch your broken wings?”
peace - The vibe of this song is like laying on your couch in the summer with light coming in through the blinds and the ceiling fan is going around just fast enough to keep the warm air circulating, but not really cool you off. This song has a hint of ‘False God’ style, a little jazzy, but otherwise, it’s a pretty fresh feel for Swift. The message fits this thoughtful, lightly antsy feeling. She’s basically saying she wants to start a family with Joe (no, I don’t think she is literally pregnant yet) and settle down, but there is no real ‘settling down’ with her level of fame. I also think that Swift truly enjoys making music, performing, and engaging with her fans, and she doesn’t want to leave that life behind any time soon. So, she’s asking him if he can make that work. It’s, again, a mature vision of what a long-term relationship can actually look and feel like. Not all of us can truly relate to the burdens of fame, but there are other ways we can be unable to ‘give you peace’. No relationship is idyllic forever in the way romantic love often makes it out to be, and this song gives us a more realistic, consistent example. And just in case we thought this was just a nice song, the whole ‘clowns to the West’ is another potential Easter egg. In the lyric video, east is not capitalized, but West is. Most likely, this is a dig at Kanye. If we want to believe Taylor wasn’t being vengeful, it could potentially be a reference to Rebekah (West was her maiden name). I lean toward theory one, although it’s kind of amazing that it works out such that it connects to both.
highlight lyric: “but I'm a fire and I'll keep your brittle heart warm // if your cascade ocean wave blues come”
hoax - (Phew last one--I don’t have access to ‘the lakes’ yet) Swift can’t end the album without bringing us all back to the raw emotional space she opened up within us. This song brings back similar piano lines from ‘mad woman’ and the image of screaming on the cliffside. Chronologically, ‘hoax’ feels like it takes place after or during the death of her reputation, i.e. the feud with Kim and Kanye, when she was still very vulnerable. Based on timeline, this seems likely to be either Calvin Harris or Tom Hiddleston. It could really be some combination of the two, since many songs aren’t really about just one person. My gut tells me it’s primarily about Calvin, since she’s referenced that they didn’t have a very faithful relationship--”your faithless love’s the only hoax I believe in.” Both relationships travelled a lot--“I left a part of me in new york.” I’m guessing she’s referencing the feud with Harris over her writing credit on ‘This is What You Came For.’ She takes attacks on her career as seriously as hurtful relationships, and since she’s referencing being torn apart by the media when she says that “what you did was just as dark,” I think it’s likely that this also has something to do with hurting her reputation. It’s another hauntingly beautiful song, and you can totally imagine yourself out on that cliff looking at the midnight sea as the piano line ends.
highlight lyric: “you knew the password, so I let you in the door // you knew you won, so what's the point of keeping score?”

Overall, the album is my favorite of Taylor’s so far for two reasons: 1) the continuity in both theme and sound is stellar, and 2) there aren’t any songs that I don’t like. Usually, there are 1-3 songs on Taylor’s albums that are either forgettable or too on-the-nose for my taste. I’m sure that is a product, in part, of having to craft songs for radio-play and for her amazing, cinematic live shows. Having given herself the freedom to make whatever music she wanted without thinking (so much) about whether they’d top the charts or be good for a stadium concert, she made an album without a single ‘pop just because’ track.
Now the real question is... What will she do with the remaining 6 months of quarantine???

1x07 Chapter Seven: In a Lonely Place
Welcome back mes cheris! Sorry for the long absence but here we go! Cheryl was not present for 1x06 so we are jumping to 1x07.
What makes a place feel like home? Is it warmth and familiarity? Some idealized, make-believe TV version of the American Dream? Is it love and acceptance? Or is it simple safety? -Jughead Jones
Our first look at Cheryl in the episode is in this cute black and burgundy outfit! It’s a perfect outfit for a trade of secrets so Cheryl can reclaim her rightful place as HBIC of the River Vixens. Two grown ass adults agree to this and Cheryl tells them that Polly escaped SOQM the night before.
This is her second appearance in this burgundy high neck twist long sleeve crop top, this time paired with a black scallop lined skirt (very Veronica, hmm). She accessorizes with her black rose stud earrings, a new gold cherry brooch, her black crossbody/backpack, black tights, a black/gold belt, a gold bracelet, and what appears to be black ankle boots.
Here is a better look at the skirt thanks to @riverdalefashion!! It’s very cute but again very Veronica. You can also see her bracelet in more detail here.
We will see her belt again in more detail later. I actually really like this outfit and wish we got to see a better full view of it. Also note how her and Penelope are matching, alluding to their agreement in this scene.
Penelope and Cheryl remain in sync as the hunt for Polly ensues. Now this is a new type of outfit for Cheryl, one that highlights her wealthy roots. It’s a very rich girl equestrian look, very interesting. But still burgundy and black. Polly connects Cheryl back to Jason so she remains in really dark outfits this episode.
More closeups and details of the outfit. Her gray blazer has adorable matching burgundy elbow patches and her shirt is a burgundy ribbed turtleneck. She has matching burgundy gloves, black skinny jeans or possibly ponte pants as they look stretchy. She is also wearing grey knee high socks and black knee high rain boots.
Return of the red spider brooch! And some black and gold ear jackets. I love love her lipstick color here btw. Matches so well. This episode puts Cheryl squarely in sync with her family as they all tend to match a lot. This definitely changes later but we can see their synchronicity here.
The next day at school wearing even less color than before. She is trying to convince Betty they are on the same side and she wants to help the baby. This baby is her last tie to Jason, note the mostly black outfit.
She has on the black rib leather jacket (no explanation needed), a black and white cherry print blouse which is so cute and perfect for this outfit. Her skirt is black with gold buttons diagonally on the side. She is also wearing black tights again, definitely fall or winter.
You can barely see it but I believe she is wearing black ankle boots again.
She is also wearing her black crossbody/backpack bag again.
For accessories, she’s added her black crystal ball earrings, her red spider brooch, and this new nude bow choker! Very cute and very dark which works for trying to convince your kind of friend to let you have her sister and her baby, lol.
Our last outfit, another dark and solemn vibe. Especially considering Penelope is plotting how to take the baby away from Polly. Creepy.
Her earrings appear to be large black stone earrings and she’s returned to a simple black choker. Her lipstick perfectly matches the flowers on her mesh top. I love this top, it’s so fun and jewel toned and works great in this scene.
Here is the full outfit, really the only good shot we see of it which is a bummer as it is gorgeous! She has on a black cami under the mesh top (very different from later Cheryl in mesh tops, hehe, Toni’s impact). This is the belt from the first outfit again, very harsh and metal, fitting for the episode. Her shorts are tight, high waisted and burgundy. Her shoes aren’t seen but I could definitely see black ankle boots with this again. I love the lighting and mood of this last picture and her outfit meshes well (ha, get it?). ;)

It was mid December when Veronica Lodge walked in the Whyte Wyrm looking, white snowflakes covering her black cape. She removed her hood and kicked the snow off her heeled boots. Her dark brown eyes scanned the bar, searching for a familiar blonde head but, she wasn’t present.
The raven haired girl sighed discouragingly. She had been searching for her best friend all night and the Wyrm was the last place on her list.
Where are you Betty?
“I think your chauffeur took the wrong direction.”
“Excuse me?”
“Northside is opposite way, Princess.”
Veronica turned around, catching sight of a very tall Serpent. “Sweet Pea,” she acknowledged.
“Mobster Princess.”
Usually, Veronica would’ve chuckled at the dark humor but, not tonight. Her night had been eventful and she didn’t have the heart for a laugh.
It took Sweet Pea one glance at the rich girl for him to catch on that something was up. He gave his cue stick to another Serpent and made his way over to her.
Sweet Pea wouldn’t call her a friend but she was definitely not a stranger. He had seen her before in the halls at school and at Jughead’s birthday party and always thought she was an uptight rich bitch that didn’t think farther than the tip of her nose. It was the vibe he got from her. His opinion changed when he found her crying in her fancy dress outside the school at Homecoming.
The reason of her tears: Archie Andrews.
That idiot had been making out with Valerie Brown backstage after his musical number and Kevin had caught them. Being the loyal friend he was, he immediately told Veronica about her boyfriend’s tongue jumping the fence.
Sweet Pea had sat with her on the cement stairs and let her cry on his shoulder, his unfinished cigarette crushed by his feet. He wasn’t good at comforting people and had no idea what to do but he couldn’t leave her by herself.
“Fuck him. It’s his loss if he want to trade a ten for a six.”
Later than night, they ended up hooking up in his trailer.
“Is everything okay?” Sweet Pea stood in front of her, raising a worried brow.
Veronica looked up and smiled tightly. “Yeah. I’m good.”
“Bullshit.”
She opened her mouth to argue but closed it. He already knew she was lying.
Eyes were on them as they stood in the middle of the Serpent bar. Her raven hair and the pearls around her neck gave her identity away. Or, maybe it was the fancy handbag resting in the crevice of her elbow.
Sweet Pea put a hand behind her lower back and led her to the bar, taking the attention away from them. “Want anything?” he asked her.
“The strongest you have.”
“We’ll take two shot of vodka and another beer,” he told Hog Eye.
The man nodded and poured their drinks, handing them to the young Serpent. Sweet Pea took the drinks in his hands and led Veronica to an empty table at the back of the bar. They sat down and Veronica immediately reached for the shot glass, downing its content without grimacing.
“What did Andrews do again?”
Veronica knitted her eyebrows. “How did you-”
“When is Andrews not the reason why you’re upset?”
“Thouché.”
“So,” Sweet Pea started, taking a sip of his beer. “What brought the mobster princess on snake territory?”
Chuckling, Veronica removed her cape coat, revealing a black top with an embellished collar. “It’s over. Archie and I. I came here in hope to find Betty but, clearly, she isn’t here.”
“Until when this time? Monday morning?” he joked, knowing Archie and Veronica always get back together despite their several breakups.
“No. I mean it this time. I’ve had enough. Archie is a boy, he’ll never change his juvenile attitude. We went on a movie date at the Bijou tonight and his phone went off during the movie. Moodkill, I know. I thought it was Jughead or his dad but no, it was a notification from Tinder. I almost let it slide because, maybe he had made a profile we were broken up and forgot to delete the app but then, I realized you don’t get notifications from people who swiped right unless you pay for the app. So, he’s still paying although we are dating. You’re probably thinking he’s done fucking up for the night but, listen closely, it gets worse. He opened the damn notification right there, in the middle of our date. This is totally unacceptable. I was furious.”
Out of all the shitty things Archie has done, checking Tinder during a date was probably the worse. It was beyond disrespectful toward Veronica - his girlfriend. To her, the betrayal hurt more than all the times he cheated on her behind her back. At least, then, she didn’t have to witness her boyfriend smiling at whatever that bitch on the other side was writing.
“Andrews really surpassed himself this time, uh.” Sweet Pea laughed at the Bulldog’s lack of brain, shaking his head. “I can’t believe he opened Tinder right in front of you. It’s like he’s silently saying you’re his side bitch.”
Talking about the beast, Veronica’s phone went off, Archie’s name flashing on the screen. She flipped the device over and ignored it. She tried to but, Archie didn’t get the hint and kept calling again and again which infuriated Veronica.
She sighed dramatically. “Oh my god, will he ever stop?”
“He might have orange hair, he’s not the brightest crayon of the box.”
Veronica stifled a laugh, smirk curving on the Serpent’s lips.
“This is it. He’s gonna have a taste of his own money.” She grabbed her phone and for a second, Sweet Pea though she was giving in and answering Archie’s call, she pulled it up in front of the Serpent. “Please, hold the pose,” she said, and snapped a picture, adding a cute filter and posting it on Instagram with the caption: ‘fun night with my new bae’, knowing Archie has her social medias notifications turned on. “Should’ve known not to mess with a Lodge.”
She knew Archie despised Serpents but, mostly their guard dog Sweet Pea. The two strong headed teenagers had gotten into quite a few fights together over the past year. Jughead had tried his best to keep the peace between the two clans but, he couldn’t do miracles. They even got souvenirs from their opponent. A scar below the eye for Sweet Pea and a chipped tooth for Archie. The rivalry between the two sides of town is nothing new but, ever since they merged the two schools together, both boys started a secret contest for the most powerful alpha and, needless to say, it didn’t impress anyone. If anything, it got them to spend more time together in detention.
“I bet if we go outside we’ll see him fuming from here.”
She watched as Sweet Pea took another sip of his beer, his shot of vodka still untouched in front of him. “Are you going to take it?” The Serpent hummed. “The shot.”
“I intended to, yes.”
“I’ll go get myself another round, then.”
The raven haired girl stood and headed to the bar to order more drinks. A minute later, she come back to she and Sweet Pea’s table with a crimson colored cosmo.
“I thought you were getting more shots?”
“It’s coming,” she replied with a fierce smile, glancing back at the bar.
Sweet Pea followed her gaze, seeing Hog Eye pouring what seemed to be tequila in several shot glasses which was much less forgiving than vodka. Both will get you drunk pretty fast; vodka will make dance on tables for a few minutes before ending with your head down the toilet while tequila will increase your bad decisions and you’ll wake up in the morning, having no clue what happened the night before.
“Not to pop your bubble but, I’m not drinking any more shots. I need to take my bike home.”
Hog Eye deposed the tray on their table and returned to the bar, flashing Sweet Pea a knowing look. The younger Serpent ignored it. He could bet his life that more than half the population of the Wyrm expected him to take Hiram Lodge’s daughter back to his trailer tonight. They’re all gonna be disappointed because it wasn’t on tonight’s agenda. He wouldn’t oppose to having sex with Veronica but, it wasn’t what she needed tonight. She needed someone to listen to her rants and change her mind from the ginger Judas that is Archie Andrews.
She shrugged, picking one shot glass and downing it before biting into a piece of lime. “More for me.”
“You’re not drinking all of this.”
Veronica scoffed. “Who the hell do you think you are? My dad?”
In true Sweet Pea fashion, he would’ve responded with a dirty comeback like: ’Not yet’ or ’No, but I can be your daddy if you want’ but, he didn’t.
“Drowning your sorrows in alcohol isn’t the way to go. Been there, done that. You’ll feel like death tomorrow if you get shitfaced.”
Holding the Serpent’s gaze, Veronica tasted her cosmo. “Would you happen to have another solution to propose? I’m all ears,” she said, pulling her bottom lip between her teeth as she let her heeled boot crawling up Sweet Pea’s leg, stopping right by his crotch.
Sweet Pea hissed, grabbing hold of Veronica’s foot. “I wasn’t going to suggest it but…if that’s really what you want.” If she was looking for a rebound from Andrews, that was a role he’d willingly play. He had been looking for an occasion to bang her again ever since she left his bed the morning after Homecoming.
She grinned behind her drink, loving the grip the older boy had on her. One major thing she liked about sex with Sweet Pea was that he wasn’t afraid to be rough with her. Not too rough but just enough, something Archie was never willing to do.
Just like going down on her. The Bulldog was a selfish boy that clearly didn’t care enough about his partner to give her single pleasure.
Veronica wasn’t going to lie, the alcohol was starting to kick in, the mix of vodka and tequila feeling warm in her belly. She wasn’t drunk but, she had drank just enough to feel confident and sexy - more than usual.
“Shall we head out?” she asked, arching a perfectly plucked eyebrow. Sweet Pea let go of Veronica’s foot and slide out of his seat, waiting for the raven haired girl to do the same. She put her cape back on and downed the rest of her cosmo. “Lead the way.”

Riverdale React s3e6: Manhunter
Cult recruitment in class and masturbation as an alibi. Only on Riverdale.
First of all, Jughead and Betty look like Archie just told them he’s gonna use their bunker to bang Veronica. Do you see that consternated sweat and her far-off look? Wow. Serious business.
So of course Sheriff Minetta doesn’t go to the person he KNOWS is involved because her dad saw her there (Veronica) and instead asks TWO questions of the whole class. This town’s police force. Seriously.
Reggie seems like he’s dealt with interrogations ENOUGH for one lifetime haha. Maybe him and Jug trade tips for evading abusive parents and being caught doing nefarious activities
Aw, he kissed her brain. I am WEAK. WEAK, I say!
Ooh is this the Terrible Parents Club? I think Fred Andrews and Tom Keller are the only ones who haven't done something awful to their kids like PUNCH THEM IN THE FACE WITH LIES. And actual fists! Also, Sierra, why are you sitting with Mantle when your future hubs is at the bar?
Hiram’s “none of your business” was hilarious though, especially considering it’s a life or death situation directly related to him. Daryl Doiley loved Penelope and wanted to ascend? Did NOT get those vibes in the flashback, and Alice seemed to notice A LOT of people hooking up. Penelope seemed to like Sierra and macked on Fred in front of Doiley soooo yeah.
I want them to replace all the Archie flyers with the infamously bad black hood flyers. "Have you seen this man?" Serial killer lettering and extremely not useful pictures, like Archie as a baby or wearing his football helmet
What the heck is on his refrigerator? Is that pic on the bottom right Jughead EATING? Like they can’t just look over and see him doing it all the time? They can print a zoomed in photo of Hot Dog but not Betty? And is that...FP and Gladys on top even though she’s been gone forever? And then to have Jughead be trying to call her as she's being taken away. How dare you, drama. I have faith in Betty and her bobby-pin picking abilities. Looks like we’ll be getting some Jughead and Archie bro scenes instead which is like, FINE, WHATEVER, and eye roll worthy from the previews for 3x7. I’m guessing Jughead is just assuming Betty has not been abducted by murderous parents or the Gargoyle King in her investigation. It makes me mad that he endorses running away from his problems and other people. HAVE NEITHER OF YOU LEARNED THINGS? Go back to school!
