Toyota has announced the 2019 TRD Pro series trucks and SUVs. For 2019 the series will include the Tundra, 4Runner, and Tacoma. All the Pro models will feature Fox 2.5-inch Internal Bypass Shocks. The 2019 model trucks will be available this fall and each of the Pro vehicles will be offered in three colors including Super White, Midnight Black Metallic, and Voodoo Blue.
That blue hue is a TRD Pro exclusive color found on no other Toyota trucks. Each of the vehicles gets Fox shocks tuned exactly for it at TRD. Toyota says that the design of the shocks allows for a plush ride on the roads but stiffens to prevent bottoming during hard use. The Tacoma TRD Pro uses shocks with 46mm piston and 8 bypass zones combined with springs that lift the front of the truck by an inch.
That vehicle has Entune Premium JBL audio with a subwoofer and integrated NAV. Rigid Industries fog lights are included and the truck rides on 16-inch TRD Pro black wheels. A TRD Desert Air Intake is optional and helps reduce dust the truck might slurp up by moving the intake up by the windshield from the fender well.
The Tundra TRD Pro uses Fox shocks and TRD springs for 2-inches of front lift. This truck has Rigid Industries fog lights, LED headlights, and LED accent lights. It rides on 18-inch BBS forged wheels and has special TRD touches on the interior. The 4Runner TRD Pro gets the same Fox shocks with a 1-inch lift out front. It can be fitted with the Premium JBL Audio system and gets several TRD touches on the inside.
The three vehicles all have the Toyota 36-month/36,000-mile warranty. All the models also have the Star Safety System with Vehicle Stability Control (VSC), Traction Control (TRAC), Anti-lock Brake System (ABS), Electronic Brake-force Distribution (EBD), Brake Assist (BA) and Smart Stop Technology (SST). Tundra and Tacoma also get, “Toyota Safety Sense P (TSS-P), which features Pre-Collision System with Pedestrian Detection (PCS w/PD), Lane Departure Alert (LDA) with Sway Warning System (SWS), Automatic High Beams (AHB) and high-speed Dynamic Radar Cruise Control (DRCC).

No, that’s not a weird Jimi Hendrix reference in the headline. Rather, it’s a reference to the Fox shocks fitted to all three 2019 Toyota TRD Pro models, which were just revealed at the 2018 Chicago Auto Show.
Already part of the kit on the Toyota Tacoma TRD Pro, the 2.5-inch Fox shocks are the main addition to the 2019 Tundra TRD Pro and 4Runner TRD Pro.
On the Tundra, the front shocks feature 46-mm pistons, lift the front end by 2 inches, and increase wheel travel by more than 1.5 inches. Out back you’ll find a 2.5-inch piggyback reservoir and wheel travel that has been increased by more than 2.0 inches. Other additions include Rigid Industries LED fog lights, LED headlights with LED accent lights and a unique black treatment, a new TOYOTA grille, a new hood scoop, a dual TRD Pro exhaust with black chrome exhaust tips, and a TRD Pro 1/4-inch skid plate.
The 2019 4Runner TRD Pro receives the same shocks as the Tundra, albeit with different tuning given the SUV’s different size and weight, as well as the same 1/4-inch skid plate.
The Tacoma wasn’t left out in the cold, however. Toyota added the new TRD Desert Air Intake snorkel to the Tacoma’s option list, which moves the air intake to the top of the cabin. More importantly, it looks really cool. Additionally, Toyota fitted the 2019 Tacoma TRD Pro with the same 1/4-inch skid plate as the other two along a cat-back TRD exhaust accented with a new Black Chrome tip—a setup similar to the Tundra’s.
All three will be offered in your choice of Super White, Midnight Black Metallic or Voodoo Blue. Don’t get too excited yet, however, as the 2019 TRD Pro trio won’t be available until the fall.

2019 Toyota TRD Pros Are Off-Road Ready
As the truck and SUV market continues their shift from “stock” to special editions and performance packages Toyota has come out swinging with their TRD Pro Series.
First introduced five years ago, the TRD Pro Series would bring Toyota’s off-road heritage to their consumer trucks/SUVs by way of performance packages. Today that tradition continues with the debut of the 2019 TRD Pro lineup for the Tundra, Tacoma and 4Runner. All three will be available in the fall in three color options: Super White, Midnight Black Metallic or Voodoo Blue. However, it’s what can’t be seen that really matters and for 2019 it was all about the suspension.
Via Toyota: Every TRD Pro model features rear 2.5-inch Fox shocks that utilize a piggyback reservoir to house additional oil volume, which assists in maintaining peak damping performance during extreme use. Tundra relies on the beefy rear leaf springs also equipped on the TRD Off-Road grade, 4Runner utilizes the TRD Off-Road grade rear coil springs, while Tacoma features progressive-rate off-road leaf springs out back to allow more compression suspension travel to aid performance over rough terrain. TRD dust boots are utilized front and rear to offer added protection to help keep dust and dirt out, and 4Runner utilizes unique roost shields to help protect the inverted rear shock.
Based on the very trail-capable TRD Off-Road grade, Tacoma TRD Pro ups the ante with enhanced 2.5-inch Fox front shocks that use large 46mm pistons and feature 8 bypass zones (5 compression, 3 rebound). They are paired with TRD-tuned springs that provide an additional 1 inch of front lift. A larger front sway bar is employed to retain crisp steering and refined road manners. The Tacoma also features 2.5-inch rear shocks that use 11 bypass zones (7 compression, 4 rebound) and are paired with 2-inch piggyback reservoirs.
It’s truly a toss-up as to what one might notice first, the aggressive stance or the new RD Desert Air Intake. The latter of which helps you find clean air for the 278-horsepower 3.5L V6 engine even in the dustiest of conditions you may find yourself driving. Not to mention that it further contributes to the overall extreme off-road appearance.

Toyota Tundra TRD Pro Gets New Look and Suspension Updates for 2019

After disappearing from the lineup for 2018, the Toyota Tundra‘s off-road-oriented TRD Pro trim level is back with a vengeance for 2019. It, along with the 2019 Tacoma and 4Runner TRD Pro models, gets a few notable mechanical updates including new shocks, revised springs, and new wheels as well as some visual updates inside and out similar to those bestowed on other Tundra models last year.

The headliners for the 2019 TRD Pro’s suspension changes are new Fox 2.5-inch front and rear internal-bypass shocks, while new springs provide an additional 1.5 inches of wheel travel in the front and 2.0 inches in the rear. New 18-inch BBS five-spoke wheels are said to reduce unsprung mass and are wrapped in Michelin all-terrain tires. The 5.7-liter V-8 engine and four-wheel-drive system continue unchanged, as does the TRD dual exhaust, which adds a more menacing soundtrack.

Spotting the 2019 Tundra TRD Pro will be fairly easy thanks to its new black-accented LED headlights and LED fog lights, which flank a reshaped grille that includes the same retro TOYOTA lettering as before. Toyota also added a hood scoop, which looks a bit strange given that the Tundra’s hood already includes an air intake just above the grille. Special interior bits include numerous TRD Pro logos, red stitching, special floor mats, and a different shift knob. Only three colors will be offered: Super White, Midnight Black Metallic, and a Voodoo Blue hue that’s exclusive to the three TRD Pro models.

The Tundra TRD will be offered in both extended-cab and crew-cab versions. Toyota isn’t announcing pricing for any of the TRD Pros yet, but expect a fairly significant premium over an equivalent truck without the off-road tweaks.
