Georgia is the most beautiful Country. Consider touring it. Much of my volunteer work was in tourism and economic development. The people are loving, guests are a blessing. This country is a world model for community cooperation in managing Covid. People's health are first and the cooperation and value for life, the most important. I am so cared for everyday. Guided and checked in on routinely. A single visit can influence your compassion for others, widen your perspective of the world and deepen your faith. Today is strawberry farm visit. It should be yummy! Pictures to follow. A heartfelt thankyou to all my friends in Tbilisi, Batumi, Poti, Telavi, Akhaltsikhe, Martvilli and Kashuri. And most important my family and friends in the United States for their unwavering support and commitment on this trip and my time in PeaceCorps. I love you. BTW women rock the World! Hugs soon.

Have it all for the best moments of your life - GEORGIA
A country at the intersection of Europe and Asia, is a former Soviet republic that’s home to Caucasus Mountain villages and Black Sea beaches. It’s famous for Vardzia, a sprawling cave monastery dating to the 12th century, and the ancient wine-growing region Kakheti. The capital, Tbilisi, is known for the diverse architecture and mazelike, cobblestone streets of its old town.

Triala Lake Excursion
If you can locate it, its worth the trip! Locals have the know how and if you want to ditch that tour bus for an extra day in Akhaltsikhe.
From Rabati Castle in Akhaltsikhe its only a 30 to 40 minute ride and summer time is travel time, mostly, the weather is ideal. Ask for Ucha Kakhniashvii , my friend and he will get a fare price and can arrange a 4x4 from there; the driver/crew will stay with you so you have a way back! It’s about 120 GEL at most and includes some fishing polls, a pit stop at the market for snacks, drinks and matches. Barbecue pits are close to the waters edge.
Directions: Take the Batumi-Akhaltishe road to Gorguli, then Imertubani, then Ijerati villages. Do not worry, the driver will likely need to ask a few locals along the way, this is very traditional Georgian way. And the lake itself is pinned on google maps. You're on track when you take the hard right at the water tank with all the hoses. Depicted in this picture:
Then the road turns to a bumpy pitted dirt road, as you twist and roll through villages the pastoral views are breath taking. Lots of cows and sheep. Narrow roads assure you're not with the crowds.
Spend a wonderful day picnicking on this lake tucked high in the mountains, not far from Turkey. Note, this is NOT a boarder crossing spot. Snow capped mountains last through May.
Plenty of open flat ground to camp and make a barbecue. The glass lake’s perimeter is forested with paths. Easy walking, well worn and you'll cross a few babbling brooks. What makes this lake special is the lack of people, its quiet except for some pasturing cows and a lone game hunter. FYI it's free, but no public restroom, so plan accordingly. Respect nature, remember to take out your trash.
If you need to find Ucha this is what he looks like. He will always be in Akhaltsikhe, he love’s his country and family. The guy to know. He will tell you there are two other lakes to visit and some splendid monasteries near by.
