Terrier Flaps, originally from the future, a time where Darkwing hasn't quite faded into legend status. They live alone and are barely able to make rent usually. Videogames are really their only solace during this time. They somehow manage to win a once-in-a-lifetime trip into the past to meet Darkwing Duck!

Here they kind of skulk around, and end up involved in a battle between Darkwing, Megavolt and Quackerjack. Through shenanigans they, as well as their [handheld videogame console] get blasted by electricity and maybe other stuff idk.

The smoke clears. Only their device is still ther, but broken. Everybody assumes they died.

The tourgroup they came with from the future awkwardly shuffled back into their own time.

But, twist! Terrier isn't actually dead! Who could have seen this coming! They actually got fused with their console/the energy running the console. They basically pull themself out of the console but it's still a part of them, under the robotic shell of their torso.

Through this they gained a couple general video game superpowers that they always have - double jump from mario, dash from celeste, shooty-gloves from cuphead, a vague sense of the future from unfertale, pokeballs that can capture people and the ability to "tune into" surrounding surveillance camera systems from Fnaf. They usually don't use these in particularly aggressive ways, bc they aren't super antagonistic. They basically just make kind of saw-esque video game themed escape rooms that they kidnap people into bc it's fun, yknow? Very Riddler-coded now that i think abt it xD

They feel a lot more comfortable with their new, video game body and now go by the name "Game Over". They also run a pizzeria-franchise where the main location has a secret bunker underneath that acts as their "lair".

After Darkwing gets through whatever escape room they've set up this week, they usually just kinda let themself be captured and jailed. They tend to break out of prison at some point though, whenever a new game-based idea pops into their head.

Sometimes they get "hired" by Negaduck to serve as a distraction while he/the fearsome five wreak havoc.

The Venture Bros. #35: “What Goes Down, Must Come Up” | July 13, 2008 - 11:30PM | S03E07

I throw this episode in with what I consider a slump for the show, but this one has a lot going for it. Jackson Publick calls this a “kitchen sink” episode, which Doc Hammer balks at in the blu-ray commentary track. What he means by this is that he cobbled together a story out of disparate ideas from his notebook of ideas. Most of these ideas are based on references. We have an Ant-man, a Hal-9000, and various characters cut from a VH1 Classic cloth all populating this episode. 

Both Rusty and Brock wind up getting trapped underneath the Venture Industries compound during a mishap trying to remove the Venture Industries drillship out of storage. Rusty winds up in some underground tunnels, menaced by a shadowy figure (later revealed to be a guy who resembles the guy from the Firestarter video). Brock winds up locked in some kind of control center, where he encounters a shrunk-down man who’s apparently been down there for decades. He’s the result of an experiment by the Sr. Jonas Venture and forgotten about before his untimely death. 

Meanwhile, Hank and Dean enlist Orpheus who enlists the rest of the Order of the Triad to help find Doc and Brock. While on the hunt, Orpheus feels an evil presence. This turns out to be MUTHER, the aforementioned Hal-9000 of the episode. She was created both as an personified operating system for the fallout shelter under the compound and also as a potential mother-figure for Rusty in case World War 3 breaks out and they have to move underground. Jonas also left behind copies of his video education modules he made just for Rusty, educating him on various aspects of hygiene and how to put on a condom. Jonas was a real “kids need both parents” bumper sticker kinda guy, I guess. 

MUTHER had gone self-aware and was taken offline after an incident in which she spitefully pumped a toxic amount of mood-altering gas into the tunnels. Team Venture and a visiting tourgroup of orphaned children are among those effected. Jonas helps Team Venture out of there, but they callously leave the orphans behind.

Their brains permanently poisoned by trip-out gas, the orphans wind up developing a cult based around the video modules left behind by Jonas, believing him to be a god-like “father”, whom they worship. They also, as laboriously explained in a post-credit scene, receive VH1 Classic, which explains why they’ve each taken on the dress and manners of various 80s and 90s pop stars. This is why Rusty is eventually kidnapped by the Art of Noise and the little girl who yells “HEY!” from their one video. I remember the first time I saw this, I lost my mind. What a reference!

The good news is, MUTHER has been taken offline. The bad news is, one of the boys plugs her back in. She demands to see Jonas, and to show that she’s serious she threatens to deploy a nuclear warhead. Meanwhile, Rusty is ironically deemed a non-Rusty by the cult, who all call themselves Rusty because the Jonas Ventures edu-tapes address “Rusty” directly.

The real Rusty pulls the video out of their machine attempting to intimidate them. This doesn't work, so he has to flee from their wrath by hiding in the missile silo just as MUTHER's bomb is about to be launched. He clutches the nosecone of the missile, which does not actually launch successfully. It teeters over, and the warhead pops off, spilling sewage everywhere. Turns out the cult were storing their waste in there. In a post-credits scene, we see Brock set up a monitor in front of MUTHER with one of Jonas’s video modules playing. She thinks he’s the real deal and awkwardly interacts with it.

The story is pretty solid in this one, but it still feels slightly overstuffed. The Antman guy feels tacked on. This episode suffers a loss: a scene featuring H. Jon Benjamin as the master, who is now in the form of Doug Henning. Apparently that character model was used in the VH1 Classic Cult crowd scene without Jackson or Doc’s approval. The deleted scene is on the DVD, and like most of the deleted scenes it was deleted before animation was done. This was also done before they recorded the radio play for the episode, so Jackson is doing a scratch-track that sounds like he’s doing a Pete White voice. 

I don’t think this is one of the best episodes, but I do think it’s pretty good, and has some really inspired moments. A lot of season three episodes feel like the humor is an afterthought. The jokes in this one are good enough for me to not think that about this one. But this being a high-point in season three says more about season three than it does about this episode.

The Guide counts her tourgroup as they reboard the station. 'Six seven eight nine ten- eleve-' She stopped cold, seeing what she was seeing. "S-Sir... You're, um..."

"yes?" a creaky voice echos from the shambling spacesuit with a massive tear in the front's middle, and a piece of metal jutting through the fissure between... surely it should come out the back from the amount of metal but there's no exit wound.

It's an old suit too, ten generations out of use from the present day.

The Guide swallows, looking into the visor of the helmet and seeing nothing but black and stars drifting around a skull where there should be a face.

"Your suit is-" The guide points at the chest.

The helmet slowly tilts downwards- the skull seems to animate it all on its own, empty eyes gazing down at the impossible wound.

"oh." it's a tiny voice. Surprised. As if they hadn't noticed their own state of existence before now.

The rest of the tour group is somehow ignoring all of this, carrying on as if there wasn't an eleventh member of their group who shouldn't be here.

It's then the Guide remembers what's happening. What her family specializes in. She never thought she had the Gift for it before. That ancient curse of a job fell to the men of the family without exception, as per the binding contract Great^7 Grand Granpa George signed with the Spirit World. Detectives through and through for countless generations, all his male descendants through blood...

...That's an identity revelation to sort through later, the Guide supposes...

The Guide swallows their fear, and says, confidently, "Sir, your suit is torn open."

"so it is..." the spirit says.

"Do you remember your name?" The Guide asks.

"...frank..." the spirit hesitates, a flicker of the stars within the helmet shift. "...will... wilkins?..."

"Alright, Frank, do you know what the date is?" The Guide finds it comes confidently to them now that they know what's happening. The family legacy has always trained everyone in what to do, so that they could pass along the secrets to the next generation, regardless of if they had the power to speak to the dead or not.

"...2109..." The spirit- Frank- replies. "...Sep...tember... 5th..."

"Frank, it's 2178," The Guide says. "January 17th."

"Oh!" Frank gasps, suddenly a bit more aware. The Skull and helmet look up sharply, a faint outline of a face is around the skull. "I've traveled through time... haven't I?"

Ah... Right...

"Of a sort," The Guide says, putting his hand on his hip and shaking his head. "Listen, Frank Wilkins, this might come as a surprise to you, but you're dead."

"....Ah...." The Ghost's face flickers fully into existence. A terrified young man, barely any older than twenty-five. Such a waste.

"And if I remember my history right, they recovered your body," The Guide continues, putting on his best, reassuring customer service smile. "Do you think you'll need me to guide you to your resting place?"

"...No, I think I remember now..." Frank says. "...We have a family plot in... Manchester? I think..." He pauses. "Yes, Manchester. I remember it now. We buried Grandmother there."

And then like that, he's gone. A woosh of stars fading out of existence like a cloud blowing between the earth and the moon.

The Guide exhales slowly, taking stock of her-their-his existence for a moment, then takes out his phone and tabs a call button.

"Hey, Uncle Gus? It's me, Francesca," the Guide says. "I, uh... I have the family talent."

There's a pause, then the man on the other end chuckles. "Well, that's one way to find out, I suppose. Welcome to the club, kiddo."

"Thanks," the Guide pauses. "And, uh, I think I know what I wanna change my name to, too."

"Oh?" Uncle Gus asked, eyebrow raised clear as day in his voice.

"My first spirit... his name was Frank," The Guide smiled. "...Kinda funny coincidence, isn't it?"

“Space tourism is finally common and you are returning from your first spacewalk. Your guide looks at you in disbelief as she realizes your suit was torn open the whole time”
