This made me laugh a lot and maybe it's a coincidence that I found this. I don't talk about too often, because it's just a part of me, but sometimes living with it every day is a lot to handle. So here it goes: Tourette's Syndrome isn't always shouting cuss words. It's making a loud noise & having people say, "God bless you", ask if you're alright, or ask if you have asthma. It's repeating a high pitched noise over and over and not fully understanding why. It's being convinced you're going to break a rib or strain your neck every day. It's a "bundle deal" that comes with ocd, sensory problems, attention deficits and anxiety. It's having people ask why you stretch so much or "walk like a ballerina". It's giving yourself calluses from making your fists so tight. It's not being able to breathe for seconds on end because you have to flip your tongue. Some days are easy, and some are more difficult than I can describe. There are days when I can make fun of myself, and days where I ask God why this happened to me. I have methods of controlling it as much as I can, however they don't always work for long. A lot of people with more than likely not be very comfortable with me speaking about this, and that's ok. For 12 years I've lived through people being uncomfortable around me. What I ask is that people are more aware. If you have a genuine question, ask me if I sneeze or if I'm a ballerina (thank you v much btw 💘), chances are I will tell you that I have Tourette's and I'm willing to answer questions about it. I do have to say that I'm more than blessed to have the people I do in my life. You all mean so much to me. Thank you for the understanding, the hand holding so I don't hurt my own hands, the patience, the laughing with me about it and trying to get me to say stupid things a billion times in hoping it turns into a tic 😂 I'm as open as I can try to be and I guess the point of this is just so people are more aware ☺️ #tsawareness #tourettesawareness #touretteswithoutregrets
