i'd like to showcase a character i really like... saki tenma!!!
saki is from a game called project sekai, where 5 groups of teenagers all have worlds in their phones called SEKAIs, manifestations of their emotions and feelings, and in them is hatsune miku (and other vocaloids) to help them figure out their true feelings!
saki is in a rock band called leo/need with her 3 childhood friends. saki is chronically ill, although her exact chronic illness hasn't been mentioned, and had been in and out of the hospital since she was little. during middle school, she was practically always in the hospital, and her and her friends had drifted away, due to all of them having different problems in their lives at the time.
saki's described as having a very physically frail body, along with fainting very easily. she catches illnesses very easily and can make herself sick from overexerting herself, so most fans agree she most likely has some form of an autoimmune illness.
after being deemed healthy enough to return back to school in her first year of highschool, her and her friends eventually reconcile and decide to form a band together, she's the keyboardist! she is very cheerful and tries her hardest to get things done. because of all the time she spent alone in the hospital, she's dead-set on making the most of her life! she loves hanging out with her friends.
she also has an older brother (one year older), tsukasa. the two are very close and have an ADORABLE relationship. tsukasa is an actor/performer, and became one because of saki's support!
overall, i think saki's chronic illness is treated really well in the plot of project sekai. while it does affect her and how her life goes, she isn't reduced to only her chronic illness. she has struggles other than her illness, and has plenty of times she is happy, outgoing and enjoying herself. i think the writers did a very good job writing saki.
also, most importantly, shes adorable! what's not to like?
fun fact: the pink gradient in her hair is completely natural! her brother has a similar natural gradient, but orange rather than pink.
[also im very sorry for not including image descriptions, i am mentally disabled and cannot properly explain images and cannot write image descriptions properly]
[Image 1 ID: A fully rendered and dynamically posed art piece of Saki, a light skinned anime style character with pink eyes, and long blonde hair in two pigtails, that fades to pink at the ends. She is dressed in a white collared shirt, red tie, black skirt, and yellow jacket. The background behind her is of a classroom with some tables put up for the end of the day, and she is posing at a piano keyboard, with one hand on the keys and the other reaching out to the viewer]
[Image 2 ID: A much more chibi style comic panel set in a hospital, where Saki is in white pyjamas with a bunch of magazines in front of her, and flowers to her right. Her brother (who looks similar to her but with short hair that fades to orange) is posing with a flower while doing a dance move, wearing a similar uniform to Saki in the first picture. He says "As your brother I'm here to cheer you up with a new move!" while a person behind him says "Mr Tenma, please keep it down! This is a hospital!" There is a "Yay!" not in a speech bubble above Saki's head, and more onomatopoeia illustrating the dance]
[Image 3 ID: The same art style as the first image, in bright colours. Saki looks to have fallen down, lying amidst a pile of toys and music equipment, adjusting glasses on her face. A white coat and orange sweater have been added to her outfit, and she holds an open notebook in one hand. /end IDs]
thanks for sending this in! i can totally see why you like her, and as a disabled actor/musician i can relate so much
#totally get you on the image descriptions it's tough! and like 90% of the reason i've been taking a week between rounds#project sekai#saki tenma#bonus events

okay, so, the bella sara tarot deck. below the cut because it’s a LONG post.
My process: I decided to limit this to cards I physically own, even though all the newer cards do seem to be archived pretty well on the wiki, because I think shuffling and touching the cards is an important tarot aspect, and I wanted the deck to be functional. Not counting item cards and shiny variations, there are a total of 90 unique cards in the first and second series, the only ones I ever purchased, and luckily I have all 90!
Since there are 78 cards in a tarot deck, I had to pick out 12 to discard. I settled on several non horses (artemis the zebra, pedro the donkey, dino the dinosaur, kio the lion, treasure the seahorse, wavebreaker the dolphin), three foals (bellisimo, beauty, spottie), cajus for including a merman in the artwork, friends for featuring two horses and only one name, and dynamo because i simply felt the art style wasn’t very realistic and didn’t fit in with the rest of the deck.
From there I divided the remaining cards up by their “symbol” at the top. conveniently, there are four suits! I decided the heart best fit with the cups, the flower with wands, the moon with pentacles, and the horseshoe with the sword. Great. Then I dug through every pile and pulled cards I thought best fit each major arcana card, while keeping 14 of each suit to represent the minor arcana.
For the unfamiliar, bella sara cards feature a horse portrait, but also a little message of positivity. A little horse motto. It’s a strange franchise but 2007 was a weird time for all of us. I mainly used the messages to sort these horses, but aesthetics and name played a small role. I used this site’s description of each major arcana card to help because I don’t know that much about tarot tbh. all images from the bella sara wiki.
The Fool - Luna - “A wonderful and exciting world awaits you.” a few other cards mention having the heart of a child or seeing the world as a child, but this one really expresses the beginning of a journey, the openness to the world that the fool offers, if slightly more uplifting because. well. it’s bella sara.
The Magician - Tao - “The whole world is at your feet.” i was kind of hoping for a card that was more about being unique. but the magician also represents having what you need to accomplish your goals and should set forth. world’s your oyster. at your feet.
The High Priestess - Santos - “Be mindful of your senses and your intuition.” was slightly wary of assigning a stallion to this role but gender is dead and the high priestess is all about intuition
The Empress - Honey - “Create something beautiful. It will make you feel peaceful.” my first instinct was to make the titular bella the empress. But honey’s message about beauty, and her portrait surrounded by nature, won out.
The Emperor - Cantaro - “Develop your ability to lead. Ask a wise person for advice.” This card specifically mentions leadership and wisdom, a relatively easy pick.
The Hierophant - Angel - “Angel is coming. Make space and let heaven help you.” another pretty easy one, very few cards mention heaven or spirituality.
The Lovers - Yin & Yang - “You always have a choice.” i considered discarding these two early on, but felt the message was too tarot-relevant to discard, and they fit very well here. the only card in our deck with two horses who aren’t a mare and foal, reminding you of choices.
The Chariot - Tai - “Be resolute and energetic in what you do.” wavered on this one for a while but I think resolve and energy are related to determination and drive enough for this to work.
Strength - Thunder - “I give you courage. Now you can release your fears.” this is one where the portrait was pretty relevant - a few cards mention courage but this one is the most forceful and strong about it.
The Hermit - Mushu - “Find a peaceful place where you can gather new energy.” big hermit card energy, back away from it all and recharge
The Wheel of Fortune - Eagle - “See the world from above like an eagle.” fuck this card in particular. took me ages to find something that kind of matches, and even then it’s a stretch. the only real match here is that the wheel of fortune urges perspective, and so does this eagle colored horse.
Justice - Grey - “If you really want it, it will come to you.” this was a tough one too. The vaguely karmic aspect is appealing to pair this one with justice, but it’s still not the best match in the deck. i’m trying my best.
The Hanged Man - Yasmin - “Retreat and gather new energy for taking steps on the road.” the hanged man is about cutting your losses, sacrificing something small to move forward, and letting go of what’s not working. retreat seems like a good fit.
Death - Chung - “Let go of pain and sorrow. The road will open and everything will go right.” assigning a horse trading card to death was not a task i thought i would face. but i kinda vibe with this pick - death is about endings and new beginnings, so it’s important to move past your pain and onto new roads. also, traditionally, death rides a white horse.
Temperence - Peace - “Those who don’t think of winning or losing have peace in mind.” kind of a weird one, hard to find a good match, but I think this patient, peaceful war horse fits.
The Devil - Parlez - “Make a plan and commit completely to it.” crazy enough there really aren’t any uhhhhhh demonic horses in this children’s trading card series from ‘07. went with the interpretation that what traps you is your own unwillingness to move forward. also there is a skull on this horse’s forehead. kinda metal?
The Tower - Macon - “It is wise to accept that there are things you can’t do.” this card is one of very few that isn’t relentlessly positive and instead encourages you to accept failure. Let that tower, or stable i guess, crumble.
The Star - Star - “It is not what you do but who you are that is important.” i simply had to. nice healing message.
The Moon - Sheng - “Understand the past. Hold onto the great things and move forward alone.” the description for this bad boy mentions not allowing worry to cloud your past or future, and this horse is all about parsing your past to move clear-headed towards the future. nice moon colored palette.
The Sun - Bella - “Think positive every day! Feel the bliss of joy and energy that comes with it.” here she is, the figurehead of our series, the queen of happiness, joy, optimism, energy... our sun.
Judgement - Starfighter - “Believe in your vision and make it come true.” this was another tough match, i had to focus on the “you can change yourself and your future” aspect of judgement to make any of them fit, and this was my fave card that mentions vision.
The World - Sunny - “The wind blows. The sun is shining. Surround yourself with positive friends.” it’s not my favorite match, but it does have a certain element of being in the right place in the world, with a sense of completion.
Okay! so that’s the major arcana. For the minor arcana, while i did put the cards within each deck into an order I thought fit the ace through king, I was far less particular than with our major deck. Went with vague associations instead of real connection to each card. I’m also not gonna list out all my reasons, because while I may be an insane person, I’m not quite ready to dedicate that much time to this weird, niche late night project. Pictured below is the ace of each deck.
Suit of Wands/Flowers:
Ace - Shaman - “You are more powerful than you realize. It is safe and good for you to be powerful.”
Two - Feng - “This moment is full of opportunities.”

Four - Freja - “Close your eyes and hear the sound around you.”
Five - Ninja - “Be careful every minute.”

Seven - Jojo - “You create your own reality.”
Eight - Ming - “Be open and take care of what is necessary.”
Nine - Sweety - “You are a perfect child. Believe it.”
Ten - Moonlight - “Trust the moon and the stars. Then your dreams are coming through.”
Page - Colour - “Feel the joy in what you see, hear, and sense.”
Knight - Flame - “I run faster than the wind. Follow me and we will find a magical place.”
Queen - Blackie - “Follow your dreams. Feel the happiness it brings.”
King - Bello - “Life is a gift. Receive it and love it.”
Suit of Pentacles/Moons:
Ace - Sokki - “Seize the day.”
Two - Rose - “Listen to your dreams. What they tell you is important.”
Three - Rain - “Run with me and feel the power.”
Four - Leonard - “Your life is a sundance.”
Five - Charlie - “Make time to listen to your friends.”
Six - Leonardo - “When you hear me neigh you will feel the joy we have.”
Seven - Hummingbird - “Go after the point of life.”
Eight - Hercules - “Don’t be afraid to ask for help.”
Nine - Mermaid - “Laugh from your heart and feel the joy.”
Ten - Mandalay - “This is a magical moment. You can make a wish.”
Page - Jonathan - “It is time for joyful playing. Joy creates miracles.”
Knight - Lucky Light - “Always be clear and brave.”
Queen - Shadow - “Look withing yourself and love what you find there.”
King - Balto - “Happiness is a decision. Decide to be happy.”
And there you have it. the bella sara. tarot. deck. If you’re still here you’re either way too invested in assigning things to other things, procrastinating, or have fond bella sara memories from when the company was still out there, convincing us to spend several hours a day brushing virtual horses. PLEASE message me with your fond bella sara memories, or if you know about tarot and have suggestions/comments.
despite the insane time investment this took, i really enjoyed looking at all the messages and comparing them to tarot meanings. maybe i’ll actually do some kind of reading with it sometime! i don’t know a lot about tarot but i think it’s really cool and the concept of using silly horse trading cards to divine my future delights me.

I can't believe I'm asking this or just I've had the thoughts to ask this before. This will he before I ask you about Freddy Vs Jason. But the Scream franchise? Your thoughts but just your icon being Stu and your header image, and saw a icon of Billy from someone you reblogged. As a guy who isn't a fan of the franchise and I've had thought at times to watch the first fully or something. I know lots of stuff due to searching up stuff and pop culture. I just want to hear your opinions.
OK so I LOVE the first Scream, it’s so so SO good!! but I’ve heard from a very trusted friend that the second one is Not Worth Watching, so I have absolutely no interest in anything beyond the very first movie lol (I have so many hangups about the MTV mask aesthetically that I couldn’t bring myself to watch the show either tbh) -- the first Scream is another of the first horror movies I saw so it also has a special place in my heart bc of that as well
anyways I kind of have a hard time picking this part because its just.. really fun? like it’s not shoving any message in your face, it’s just a real return to form for Wes Craven- like I live + breathe the original Nightmare on Elm Street, and Scream is just as high up there as NoES. I’ll admit I haven’t seen a TON of his movies, but The Serpent and the Rainbow came between NoES and Scream (amidst TV movies and some other films that look... just oof) and I could barely get through it- I remember the movie being super boring? I honestly had no idea it was Wes Craven at the time because it was totally the opposite of what I expected from him, so that’s why I say ‘return to form.’
I think the movie’s strongest points are its characters- they’re all really easy to love (even after an initial viewing, when you know the twist reveal of the killer). Billy’s got this very caring side towards Sidney, and even tho he has real frustrations wrt her trauma he’s willing to work things out with her + apologize- he’s also got a good camaraderie with Stu and just has a very grounded, even presence that balances Stu out excellently. Stu on the other hand is like, obviously the goofball + kind of a dickhead (the whole “Liver alone!” joke being a prime example) but he’s genuinely well-meaning and arguably over-affectionate? he picks Tatum up, hugs her, leans on her, like he’s very physical with her. He also leans on Randy when he and Billy corner him in the video rental shop so Stu’s probably just touchy-feely in general lol, but it’s a little trait that lends him a realness, you feel?
Tatum could’ve very easily fallen into the “bitchy best friend” stereotype but she’s honestly just protective? like yeah she’s sarcastic and whacks Stu in the head with a sucker but that’s like.. Stu deserved it because he IS a shithead, and while she can be snappy with Gale she does it to defend Sidney. She also puts up a really good fight against Ghostface, and has a neat discussion about female killers (Basic Instinct is her example) with the rest of the gang in the beginning. Sidney on the other hand has her own tough side which develops throughout the film as she’s faced with the killer, but like is realistically traumatized and is only ever presented as reasonable- they totally could’ve demonized her as a bad girlfriend because she won’t have sex with Billy but as we find out about her mother it’s like “oh yeah,” and you have a lot of compassion for her because of how she’s painted throughout the rest of the film
Randy is sort of the outlier here because he’s such an obvious red herring? like he’s the geeky horror-obsessed character that would’ve been the villain in like any other iteration of this movie, but instead he just kind of.... sidekicks his way out of death lmao. He’s the one who presents the rules of horror movies to us (don’t drink/do drugs, don’t have sex, and never say “I’ll be right back”), and when we find out he’s not dead, his line? “I never thought I’d be so happy to be a virgin.” Like, I really couldn’t imagine Scream without Randy-- sure, he’s just kind of... there; he doesn’t add a ton to the story, he’s not super integral to the plot, but he serves as a sort of audience surrogate and I feel like the movie would be missing something without him. He’s also a nice twist on the usual “watching violent media makes you violent!!!” thing
So, like, when we find out who the killer is (avoiding description in case others haven’t seen it/don’t know the reveal lol), the killer gives us that often-used line “movies don’t create psychos, movies make psychos more creative!” I think the quote’s a liiiiiiiitle oversaturated as like this edgy thing when it nicely encapsulates the film’s message? It’s not this big poetic thing, it’s just arguing that the “the reason X killed Y is because of [insert type of violent media]” mentality is complete bullshit. We establish that the killer had already decided to commit all these murders, each act was completely premeditated, the killer just turned to horror movies to see HOW to commit the crimes- it wasn’t a case of “he watched one horror movie and it turned poor little Jimmy into a violent serial killer completely out of the blue!” Then, on the other hand, the character who watches horror movies regularly for fun is the character who gives us the exposition we need and provides key advice to Sidney to help her survive (”this is the moment when the supposedly-dead killer comes back to life for a final scare”). It’s a really refreshing message to get as a horror fan
like overall though Scream’s just super fun? it gives us the tension we want, it gives us violent attacks and guts and gore (Casey’s death in the very beginning is sooooo good), but it never gets overbearing. Like yeah, sometimes I do want a splatterfest, and Scream is a very 90s movie (it shows, but it works for the film- imagining Scream in a post-90s setting makes me go.... eurgh.......), but it’s also one of the most wholeheartedly enjoyable horror movies I’ve ever watched. There’s no schlock, no parts that make me yawn- it just checks off a lot of boxes for me when it comes to fun horror movies and remains very rewatchable even if you know who the killer is

Sorry for being abscent tumblr, I’ve been super busy with the work! I’ll make a mega update here to get us caught up, and ill upload more photos after.
Since unwrapping the environment I have taken it to substance, got all the maps generated, made some optimisations on render time (Still some noise but render time is at 18minutes at some points so wont push it any more - waiting to hear back from Sang on how good the render time is/optimised the scene is before i send render farm requests) and done my animating!! Phew!
The substance painter stuff was good fun - I learend some lessons with the character, and knew the best way to approach this was to put everything under one material that I wanted on one map. To that end I put the entire room (walls floor etc) as one material (due to its physical size and wanting to put text on the floor) and the objects within the room - computers, piping, platform etc - on another atlas. Both atlas’ were 4k, and the only exceptions to that was a few individual maps - one for the robotic arms holding her, as I made them seperate and couldnt/dont know how to combine maps, and one for the pistol (ill show in next post) as I did that after (I decided a couple days before starting animation to test myself to model, wrap and texture a pistol in one day - I did it!! :D
I messed around with colour palette a bit with the room. I wanted a dark ominous room, but felt that showing the room with grey or dark surfaces lost the clean room/labratory feel. I think its vitally important in a sci-fi environment to try to keep real world links as close as possibly as they act like markers for the viewer to follow. I.e. by maintaing an aesthetic in this room or a labratory or hospital with the clean shiney surfaces, and the screen terminals using words like testing etc, the viewer will hopefully understand that its a lab/test facility of some description for the robot - That’s the plan anyway. By making the room darker, it might all into question the use or purpose of building. For example. is she there to be interogated? Has she been captured? As opposed to thinking oh this is a new technology...
I’ve not done any animation before, so was both excited and concerned to start, although it was a nice change of pace and helped keep me interested with a change of the usual workflow.
Luckily, as my story focuses on her being restrained for a large majority of the film, I didn’t have any massively challenging animation to do. However this didn’t mean I would coast the work and get it done as soon as possible. I wanted to make sure her acting and performance read as clearly as possible, as I need her movements to be one of the key indicators of her “state” i.e. human, or robot. I also quickly created blendshapes for her - I planned on her being unable to emote, but I felt this was a bit of a cop out. I didn’t want her to open her mouth, sure, as I felt that was a one way trip to uncanny that I coulnd’t use within the story, and would make her impossible to empathise with (if I had time, sure it would be a fun experiment to see what worked better, but time isnt on my side). This did mean that her emotions were slightly limited , BUT, because i wanted her to see trapped in her own body, and like her faculties were limited (due to the fact her head has been removed and put on a robot!!) I think it worked well. I created blendshapes for fear, sadness, anger, a blink, and a frown (to augment the other emotions). I’m so glad I did these, as the became key in a few of the shots, and really make them pop, and make her “come to life”, so I’m pleased I took the time to do them.
The animation was fun, a few issues came up however, but for the most part it was pretty straight forward. I took some videos of myself doing some of the movements as reference for the animations. I tried to do it in a week or less, which I managed, to make sure that I stay on target time wise, and as I opted to use After Effects to show the screens, I wanted extra time to learn - I want the screens to flash and change, and thought it would also be a good oppotunity to learn how to use After Effects as I’ve not used it at all.
I’ve spent a bit of time too working on camera movement and set up. I’ve weant for a 25mm focal length for most shots to show as much of the set as possible, situating the camera more. I try to frame each shot as well as possible to make it look good, draw the viewers eye to key information, and on a few shots, frame screens so that they can get plot information as to what is going on. It’s been difficult to make sure the camera looks as natural as possible, and not like a maya camera, which is tough. Camera work itself is an entire artform in itself...
So, I want to discuss a few of the issues I’ve had and how I got around them or solved them.
So, as I mentioned I had some issues with the animatiom. These came from the rig, and the blendshape.
First of all the blendshapes for her face - as I think I mentioned before, I did blenshapes for her bicepts so that when she moves her arm, her biceps will tense and relax to show that movement. It’s very subtle and probably never be noticed, but it looks cool when you look for it, and it was a great learning experience. I had to move its order in the channel editor to make sure it moved at the right time within the rig, and it worked totally fine, and easier than I thought! I did the same with the shoulder muscles, but more as corrective blendshapes as the rig/deformations isnt perfect. However, the face blendshapes wouldn’t play ball... I tried adjusting their order, I tried every combination, I tried deleting their history and their transforms, nothing worked - everytime I applied them, her head would shoot off into the distance. I spoke with both Sang and Michael and Patrick Sloan, eventually the 2 Sloans worked out that by deleting the meshes post, and applying them all as one blendshape (originally I did them one by one) it worked. I tried doing them as one BS without deleting them and for some reason it didnt work. I took it as it was and even asked Sang if he knew why (he didnt). As long as it worked though, I didnt care...
The next issue with the rig was something that totally slipped by somehow; When I rotate her global control her chest and abdomen wouldnt deform right AT ALL. I had no idea how it happened and started freaking out. The 2 Sloans couldn’t work it out either. If I grabbed her chest and her global, she would rotate better, but her stomach would twist up strangely. Eventualy Sang diagnosed that the issue was the IK Spine not twisting right, and that I must have done something wrong during the rigging stage. This was super frustrating as I took my time with the rig and followed Sang’s video perfectly. It must have been one little step, a constrain or a parent, that i missed, omited, or applied incorrectly, and more than a month later, it came to the surface. I was especially confused/frustrated as I tested the rig post completion and binding to check, but obviously hadnt used the global control to twist her. Sang found a work around, but it did mean that one of her spine controls was lost. I then realised towards the end of the animating that a few of her poses caused strange deformations, like verts jutting our, or generally not following the rest of her body too well. I would go into weight paints and smooth out the issue as best I could even though I couldnt see anything glaringly obvious, like an arm joint effecting her lower stomach, but now that I’m processing this, I wonder if perhaps losing a handle reassigne weights and didnt do it right??
Another issue I had was her armor and torso/muscles being SUPER Shiny. I couldn’t work this out especially as she looked totally fine within substance. Initially I assumed it was an arnold render setting and that I hadn’t turned samples high enough, but after optimising the samples using Sang’s tutorla (which made the render time too high unfortunately) I realised the issue remained. One day I eventually decided it wasn’t right and that it wasn’t just me - it was too much. I worked my way through Arnold’s material settings, turning this up, down, off, every which way, to see if it effected the shine. I eventually found the culprit was Diffuse Roughness and nothing more, and that by simple adjusting the exposure/alpha in the settings, it reduced this shine completely. The way I set up my materials meant that it effected her whole texture (even though muscle/skin and armor are in different graphs) so I lost a tiny bit of shine to her skin, but I think it still looks fine - if anything before hand her lips looked too shiney, as if she had on lip gloss.
I also had some issues creating the cabling for her helmet. I needed the cabes to flex and bend with her as they moved. In my head the best way would be and IK set up. Initially I tried this, and I use a cube to measure the start and end points, and used an arc to create a perfect bend over the 90 degrees. This was a good idea, and the cable could go from a 90 degree bend to perfectly straight, but any additional bend didnt work and just turned the cable. I then started thinking about IK Splines, and watched a few tutorials online but couldnt get it to work. It made sense though, a spline would allow the perfect movement! Evnetually me and Sang spoke a few times and he was able to find a solution. An spline set up that didnt work like an IK and meant I had to do lots of manual adjustments, but for the most part it looks great. So for the small cables on the sides of her helmet, i kept the simple but effective “fire and forget” IK cables, and for the rear of her head I used the spline, as this area would move and twist much more. It took a while to create and solve, but meant that it looked good and only took a small amount of additional work to animate.
I will upload some more images, such as test shots, the pistol (which barely gets any screen time, but only took a day to work on so not a massive loss.
Only a few weeks to go! Waiting for Sang to get back to me on scene set up and optimisation, once that gets the green light I’ll start sending render farm requests!

Skin-Nourishing Collagen Pumpkin Spice Latte
Yep, still eating pumpkin things over here.
Back when I was in university, I had a Starbucks credit card. I chose it because it allowed me to collect Starbucks credit every time I purchased anything – groceries, clothes, etc. I used this card all the time, and as a result, don’t think I ever had to pay for a single Starbucks beverage during the entire 4 years of my undergrad. It was a card that worked perfectly for my student needs, but sadly it was discontinued in my final undergrad year. Perhaps they realized that many university students had the same card, weren’t needing to pay for coffee, and therefore, the company was missing out on revenue.
We’ll never know the reason, but it was fun while it lasted. Having grown up in the Middle East where the Starbucks PSL isn’t quite as famous, I hadn’t heard of it until moving back here to Canada. Like many North American things that I felt I’d been deprived of while living abroad, I made up for lost time and certainly drank my fair share of PSLs upon return. It soon became very clear what the fuss was about. In the middle of a cold, snowy Waterloo winter, the PSL was like a cozy sweater for my insides.
Eventually my interest in nutrition kicked in and I became wise to the ingredients. As tough as it seemed at the time, I used that information as a reason to opt for other hot bevvies instead. All the while, however, I’ve enjoyed blending up my own Starbucks-like creations at home. Recently I was brainstorming new recipes I could create to get my daily dose of collagen, and with pumpkin on the brain, a Collagen Pumpkin Spice Latte seemed like a no-brainer.

Skin-Nourishing Collagen Pumpkin Spice Latte
Cozy and comforting, this Collagen Pumpkin Spice Latte provides an extra boost for your hair, skin and nails while warming you from the inside out.
Author: Angela @ Eat Spin Run Repeat
Prep Time: 2 mins
Cook Time: 7 mins
Total Time: 9 mins
Yield: 1 serving
Category: drinks
Method: blender
Ingredients
1 1/4 cups non-dairy milk of choice (I used almond milk)
1/4 cup strong brewed coffee (see note below)
1 tbsp pumpkin puree
3-5g marine collagen (I used withinUs TruMarine Collagen)
1/2 tsp vanilla extract
1/4 tsp pumpkin pie spice
1/4 tsp ground cinnamon
1-2 tsp maple syrup (optional, if you want a sweeter latte)
Instructions
Heat the almond milk and coffee in a small saucepan until warm, about 4 minutes.
Add the pumpkin puree and continue whisking for another 1-2 minutes. Once the mixture is hot (but not boiling), remove the saucepan from the heat and whisk in all remaining ingredients.
Optional step: Pour the entire contents into a blender and whirl it around on the high setting for 15-30s. This will help to make it frothy.
Pour the latte into a mug and add a little more maple syrup if desired. Garnish with cinnamon and serve.
Notes
I’m not a regular coffee drinker so I kept the quantity used pretty low here. If you prefer a stronger taste, feel free to increase to 1/2 cup and decrease the nut milk to 1 cup.
Eventually the pumpkin puree will sink to the bottom of the mug because of its weight. No worries – simply pour it back into the blender, whirl it around again and re-pour.

FRIENDS TV SHOW – MORE THAN JUST A SHOW
Memories are captured by our brains and stored for a lifetime, good and bad. For example, the Friends tv-series gave us so many positive episodes and episodes with hardships.
Isn’t it true, it’s better to have positive memories than negative flashbacks into our past life?
The Friends tv-series taught us that memories are made up of time, the one thing we don’t get back in life is time, so, make the best of your time.
Despite the fact life throws some pretty intense trials our way, we should always use our time to help others.
In doing so, there is no room for failure in being your happiest. It’s proven when you surround yourself with good people your values are set.
In short, this means you know what you deserve and those types of friends will also be around for you when times are hard.
The quote “I would rather have a handful of best friends than just one,” is true. Why put all your eggs in one basket?
Having a handful of wonderful friends reminds me of the show FRIENDS but isn’t that the ideal group right there?

What’s the connection in specific?
Despite Ross and Rachels falling in love, out of love or “taking a break.”
Despite Joey and Chandler’s fighting of girls or a bracelet, they still talked about the problem, even if it was through a box.
Despite Chandler and Monica falling in love regardless of Chandler’s relationship fears with commitment, they still talked about the problem. They didn’t rush their marriage and even met in the middle when it came to spending money on their wedding (although, we all know it was totally Monica’s thunderous day).

This is not good for his rage, Joey!

Despite Joey and Rachel having a fling of confusion. Ross was upset but again, they still talked out the problem.
Despite Phoebe’s pagan like persona, they still loved her for who she was because she was tough, yet she would give the shirt off her back in a heartbeat (I mean, she even made Monica a whole new frame, lol).
In turn, we learned to lean on one another and hopefully how to love new people who come into our lives.

Remember the episode where Pheobeand Monica “cut out,” friends as they began to go through college?
It was called ‘The One with Ross’s Tan’ which is the third episode of the tenth season of Friends (which aired on October 9, 2003).
Further, Phoebe and Monica’s old roommate, Amanda, who is hands down a “New Yorker,” from Yonkers but this time, she’s picked up a British accent and very ego-centric. Both Monica and Phoebe attempt to avoid Amanda without hurting her feelings.
With this in mind, it’s safe to say the two friends didn’t want toxic in their life. Even so, they were respectful and loving merely by trying not to hurt her feelings.
Honestly, those two (if it was reality) would be the best people in the world to have as a friend.
Unfortunately, Amanda’s visit also sparked a backstory for Phoebe and Monica.
In an older episode that is flashed back too, Phoebe was becoming annoyed with how “controlling and compulsive” she behaved.
Next, the episode expanded on other problems they went through while living together in Monica’s apartment.
Phoebe explains to Monica that even though she was a little compulsive, she realized that Monica was truly a nice person and she is glad she changed her mind about cutting Monica out of her life.

What does that teach us exactly?
This teaches us not to judge too harshly and too soon. It means that we give people the benefit of the doubt until we have a real mature reason to move on in life.
FRIENDS is a tv show that has endless relatable episodes but each of them shows values, love, struggle, lust, pain, and of course, comedy.
Christina Grimmie continues to change the world from heaven!
The writers and creators David Crane, Marta Kauffman, Scott Silveri, Andrew Reich, Alexa Junge, Jeff Greenstein, and Jeff Strauss are to thank. The talent they put into their writing translated to the television like magic.

Although, and I can’t believe this, there are still people out there who have not watched the show.
For the love of all things living, do it.
Just as important, laughter is the best medicine when you’re feeling down. The show truly gives a lot of comedy and relatable content.
Most of all, it gives a pretty good picture of life, having to work, make ends meet and still maintain relationships with others.
Todays Generation and their phones
They aren’t tied to their phones all day every day (yes times have changed).
But that doesn’t change the fact that we spend more time with our phones than actually hanging out with our own family and friends.
Did you know FRIENDS tv show now has a LIVE musical that can be seen in Las Vegas, NV?
Friends tv series live musical
Yes, you read that right, Friends tv-series does have a LIVE musical!
Now, this is your chance to get out, put your phone away and create some new memories with your family.
First, make sure you watch the show, you’ll feel the emotions of the actors more so during the musical.
90 Day fiancé: Happily Ever after is real talk.
Second, enjoy yourself, life is too short to spend worrying over little issues.
Be thankful for the small things and celebrate them, yes including your big 30!
Lastly, believe in yourself as well as others, love endlessly and never give up.
Memories are forever, the flashbacks in episodes are a testament to that truth.
Oh, and here’s a fan favorite moment!

12 Spanish Bands and Singers to Learn Spanish (If You Hate Reggaeton)
All The Language Learning Listening Resources That You’ll Ever Need” /> Reggaeton is a fascinating genre of music. The history of it, spanning from Puerto Rico back to Shabba Ranks Dem Bow for the essential beat, and even further back to Cuban, Caribbean African rhythms is well worth investigating. But with the lyrical themes of reggaeton sometimes being a little too much for some, and the beats sounding repetitive to others, it’s also worth exploring Spanish bands and singers to learn Spanish that don’t do reggaeton. Here’s 12 to get you started.
Free Spotify Study Pack
Do you like to use music for language learning? You’re in luck! Loads of people love the Netflix Study Pack I made a while back, so I figured it would be a helpful addition to your study resources to have a (free!) Spotify Study Pack too.
Click the image below to get your copy now.
Residente
Let’s get the big ones out of the way first that you may be thinking, “Hey! Isn’t that reggaeton? You promised me no reggaeton!”
Ok, ok, I know. So Residente was in the band Calle 13, and some of their stuff might be classed as reggaeton.
But Residente’s first solo album (also called Residente) is one of the greatest albums I’ve ever heard.
Here’s the story…he took one of those DNA tests to see his origins. Then he made an album inspired by the music in those places. It’s awesome.
My favourite is Somon Anormales but the video for that is a little on the NSFW side. So we’ll start with Desencuentro, which you’ll love if you love language because there’s French in it too.
youtube
Rosalía
Told you we’d get the big glaring obvious ones out of the way first. And again, a disclaimer. So yes, yes, I know. Rosalía has collaborated with J Balvin, who is undeniably reggaeton. But…Rosalía is different.
Inspired by her studies of flamenco music in her home country of Spain, her first album does not quite prepare you for what’s to come. A pretty pure flamenco record, in a modern context.
Her second album, El Mal Querer, I mean, wow. This is where it gets interesting.
Again, still drawing from those flamenco rhythms and sounds and claps, but this time bringing in much more modern and experimental sounds too. Even sampling Justin Timberlake’s Cry Me A River on BAGDAD.
But if there’s one song you need to draw you in from the get go, it’s MALAMENTE. (Again with the capital letters, just like those Kool Koreans)
youtube
iLe
iLe is the sister of Residente. And totally deserves to be here in her own right.
Her debut album iLevitable is pretty cool. Maybe a litte jazzy, maybe a little acoustic-y, maybe a little Norah Jones-Latin lovechild.
Her second album is one of my favourites so far of 2019. It’s called Almadura – a play on words of ‘alma dura’, hard soul, and ‘armadura’, armour. It will make you feel ready to take on the world. And win.
And there’s still some heavy drawing from traditional Latin rhythms which makes my heart happy. Here’s Tu Rumba.
youtube
Old School Shakira
I’m never going to tire of Shakira. And I bet you probably already know Shakira. But, have you ever gone back and listening to her pre-Laundry Service stuff?
¿Dónde Están Los Ladrónes? is the Shakira you never knew you needed. It’s full of instruments, full of joy, and definitely one of my favourite albums ever. (Because it’s basically the reason I learnt Spanish)
Ojos Así also adds a total Middle Eastern vibe to that whole album with some Arabic lyrics in there as well.
youtube
Related: All The Language Learning Listening Resources That You’ll Ever Need
Kchiporros
I was introduced to Kchiporros at Asuncionico in Paraguay back in 2018. They were so good live!
There’s like this Latin rock vibe going on with some serious ska influence too. So I’m down.
Unlike anything else on this list.
Cada Día is my favourite. Plus the video is fun too.
youtube
Jorge Drexler
Going from one ‘guay’ to the other, next up is Jorge Drexler. He’s from Uruguay. (See what I did there? I could totally present a TV variety show with weak segues…)
He has quite a snappy acoustic sound that your mum would approve of.
Silencio feels like a good place to start if you’re new to Jorge Drexler.
youtube
Systema Solar
If it’s fun, sunny sounds you’re after then this one’s for you.
Hailing from Colombia, Systema Solar make playful music with fun and sometimes experimental sounds and beats.
It’s not one of their most famous songs but I trained for an ultramarathon to this song so I’m sharing ‘Aló?’.
youtube
Bomba Estéreo
If you love Systema Solar, you’ll probably like Bomba Estereo too. Both from Colombia, both have these fun, ridiculously cool hooks. In fact, they actually did a song together, Carnavalera.
Also, Bomba Estereo have collaborated with one of my favourite bands, Sofi Tukker, who don’t sing in Spanish but do have some Portuguese lyrics.
This song from Bomba Estéreo is called Soy Yo, and pretty much the only self-love anthem you need.
youtube
Related: How to Use Spotify for Language Learning
Femina
Femina is an Argentinian band hailing from Patagonia but sounding more like they’re from some sweet, tropical Caribbean island.
There’s a toughness underneath the floaty, folk-inspired harmonies that’s reminiscent of R’n’B around the Lauryn Hill era.
And yes, that’s a lot of adjectives for one band so I guess I should let you listen now.
youtube
Buena Vista Social Club
Ahh. There has to be a Cuban band or singer on this list somewhere! Music just floats with the breeze in Cuba that it would be a crime not to include something from the island on this list. If we’re excluding Gente De Zona because they’re basically reggaeton (although you should check out La Gozadera because it is pure joy and Latin American pride), then it has to be Buena Vista Social Club.
Celia Cruz, Antonio Machin, Beny Moré…there’s lots to choose from but what’s great about Buena Vista Social club is that it’s actually a “band” combining some of the most successful living Cuban musicians. So it’s a bit of a cheat for this list because it gives you multiple musicians to go on and discover!
It’s also hard to ignore the significance of the band, emerging worldwide in the late 90s, during what’s known in Cuba to some as “The Special Period” following the collapse of the Soviet Union.
Their best song is debatable but Chan Chan reminds me so much of being in Cuba and not knowing the lyrics. I thought he was talking about going to ‘MaccyDs’, as in McDonalds. I know, right. Couldn’t be more wrong.
youtube
Monsieur Periné
Hailing from Colombia, Monsieur Periné won a Latin Grammy in 2015 for Best Newcomer.
They’re a little jazzy with some Latin rhythms. Perfect evening music!
I’m going to share a popular one from them, as I’ve not explored their whole back catalogue yet.
youtube
Mon Laferte
From Chile, Mon Laferte’s music is best described as Latin-indie-rock with a 50s style twist and a side order of Regina Spektor. So yeah, another one with lots of description, which means the best thing to do is listen.
You probably already know Juanes, right? The La Camisa Negra guy? Well, Amárrame features Juanes so that’s probably a good place to start.

The usual technique that many marketing experts use is to include their CTAs at the end of their videos. Right here's an example of exactly what seasoned marketers do.
While that is certainly a great practice to comply with, you could take it a step even more by sprinkling your CTAs across your Clipmagix video in places where you've included tons of value, or in areas you assume typically aren't THAT intrusive.
Obviously, because our objective for this write-up is to boost your site's web traffic, your CTAs ought to lead your visitors to your site.
2. Data Visualization
Another form of aesthetic content that you could check out is information visualization. In this strategy, you present data and analytics in a much more reasonable format like charts or charts. While this is appealing to those who are more thinking about numbers, it could likewise be an opportunity to existing data in an extra fascinating way.
These kinds of aesthetic web content are so effective, that influencers utilize 'em at all times.
Data visualization is commonly presented as an infographic, making use of relatable pictures rather than straight numbers and also numbers. By doing this, rather than frustrating your audience with illegible data, you're feeding them easy to understand information that could attract them to your page. These pictured information could be uploaded on social networks with a link to your page in the description.
3. Use Coupons
Below's an inquiry for you: If authority websites like Amazon are making use of vouchers, do not you assume you should be doing the same point as well? Because the majority of people are into getting the greatest bang for their dollar, coupons are probably one of one of the most "fulfilling" aesthetic material that you could use to get people to visit your website.
Make sure to consider these three points prior to you begin utilizing vouchers to drive web traffic to your website.
1. Acquire and save your consumer's email addresses. In this way, you could nourish your relationship with them after they bought your item.
You could after that offer them brand-new items in the future.
2. Include your promo codes on discount rate promo code websites. A lot of web designers only add their vouchers on their web sites or their social media sites sites. They fail to recognize that adding their coupons on discount rate websites could generate them excellent outcomes also.
3. You do not need to invest a whole lot to have a skillfully made promo code. You can go to Fiverr.com to get one of their jobs.

More and more tourists are visiting the lovely city of Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam, also known as Saigon, in recent years due to the city’s rapid urban and economic development.
The influx of tourists has been a boon for Ho Chi Minh City with many modern F&B outlets, bars, pubs, traditional coffee shops and cafes sprouting up across the city.
I’ve been told that their food is amazing – so many people tell me that cafe-hopping and food-hunting is the standard practice when you’re here!
Little did I know that I ended up doing exactly that. In just 4 days, I went to over 9 cafes and 4 restaurants! This includes Secret Garden Restaurant and various other Vietnamese coffee shops.
Here are some of my favourite Saigon cafes that you should try when you visit Ho Chi Minh City next time! 😉
Vietnamese Coffee Shops in Ho Chi Minh, Vietnam
1. Phuc Long Coffee & Tea – In search of great Matcha Latte
Source
It’s not uncommon to see this popular café chain all around Ho Chi Minh City. You can walk down the streets and see tourists and locals holding a cup of Phuc Long Coffee & Tea in hand.
There are so many Phuc Long outlets across Ho Chi Minh City, serving typical beverages and desserts at reasonable prices. To me, it seems as though this was their local version of the popular multinational chain Starbucks.
A good friend of mine recommended that I try the matcha latte (one of my favourite drinks ever!) here at Phuc Long Coffee & Tea, promising that it’ll be one of the best matcha lattes ever, and so off I go!
We stopped by one of the outlets near Grand Saigon Hotel to get our hands on a matcha latte and it totally didn’t disappoint – we love the mixture of creaminess and freshness of the matcha latte.
It was drizzling when we were drinking our latte, and so we spent a good hour sitting on the second floor of the cafe and watching the traffic rush pass, enjoying our drink.
I wouldn’t recommend the desserts though. The cake we tried felt like it had been frozen there for days – tough and tasteless.
If matcha latte isn’t one of your favourite drinks, have a look at other drink options on the menu. The couple sitting next to us ordered a cup of Choco Lover, which comes with a generous serving of whipped cream and chocolate drizzle, which I think will come in perfect on days when the Ho Chi Minh City sun is blazing.
Address - (Multiple locations) Opening Hours - 07:00 - 22:30 Menu
2. M2C Cafe – Modern meets culture
This slideshow requires JavaScript.
This cafe was a little tougher to find but thank goodness we did. We were told that this cafe serves really amazing Vietnamese Coffee, apart from its other drinks offered.
What I liked a lot about this cafe was its rustic, antique interior design. With low-lighting and unique choice of furniture and wall decorations, M2C Cafe was able to give a nostalgic feel of an old-school cafe.
Must try:
Again, I set my heart out to try another cup of Vietnamese iced coffee, but with a twist – the Vietnamese Drip Coffee, where hot coffee made from fine Vietnamese coffee grinds are filtered through a traditional Vietnamese filter into a cup of ice, cooling it down for your pleasure. It was an interesting experience that I enjoyed, and it didn’t cost me much as well.
They have plenty of other drinks and desserts to choose from, and it isn’t as costly here! Take a break and have a drink while strolling through the neighbourhood streets.
Address - 34D Thu Khoa Huan Street | District 1, Ho Chi Minh City District 1, Vietnam Opening Hours - 08:30 - 23:00
3. The Workshop
Source
The moment I entered The Workshop, I felt like I was in New York City all over again. The Workshop is a modern café, much like those you would find across Europe and Australia, yet it still has this local charm to it, making it uniquely Saigon.
Located close to the heart of Ho Chi Minh City, The Workshop is a great venue for you to relax with friends.
This is one of the few cafes that I know of that serves gluten-free and vegetarian dishes. Talk about being inclusive! Now you can bring your friends and loved ones, especially if they have more dietary restrictions, with lesser worries!
Must try:
Surely, this is another Vietnamese coffee shop that tops the Vietnam coffee list. The Vietnamese iced coffee, with its creamy and full body and delicious taste, is what I came for, and I didn’t regret walking here in the hot and humid Ho Chi Minh City weather at all.
Don’t hesitate to get a second cup while you’re at it – I had 2 of it myself!
Source
Apart from that, they serve a good range of main dishes that you can eat for breakfast or lunch. This includes pasta and Eggs Benedict. If you’re not in the mood for a heavy meal, you can choose to taste one of their desserts or pastries.
The cost is slightly more than the regular price, so come mentally prepared!
Address: 27 Ngo Duc Ke, P. Ben Nghe, Q.1 (2nd floor), Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam District 1 Opening Hours: 08:00 – 21:00
Vietnamese Restaurants in Ho Chi Minh, Vietnam
1. Secret Garden Restaurant
This is arguably the toughest restaurant to find in the entire Ho Chi Minh City. After walking through streets after streets, asking locals for directions along the way, and climbing up numerous flights of stairs, I finally found this gem of a restaurant (no wonder it’s called Secret Garden Restaurant)!
Secret Garden Restaurant, also affectionately known as Secret Garden Home-cooked Restaurant, brings the best of traditional Vietnamese cuisines in a comfortable, homely setting.
The friendly staff sure know how to keep me feeling welcome, too, by constantly making conversations and asking me if the food was any good.
The best part of it all – the rooftop dining view! Having a meal at the top of the building, under the twinkling fairy lights, amidst a traditional setting, was a great dining experience for me.
Must try:
As soon as I entered the restaurant, I can’t help but be amazed as I looked around and saw different tables filled with great-smelling and delicious-looking food.
All these home-cooked dishes had a drooling effect on me. They all looked delicious that it’s hard to recommend just one main dish, so why not try a little bit of everything? Spicy grilled prawns, vegetable spring rolls, lemongrass pork… and the list goes on and on.
Do take note that the serving size may be huge, so it’s good to bring along a buddy or two to enjoy this meal with you! On top of that, for the amount that I ordered and the taste, it’s reasonably affordable.
Tip: It gets rather busy at times, especially during the peak periods, so I’ll advise you to book a table before your arrival by calling the restaurant at +84 90 990 46 21 to avoid waiting in line too long!
Address: Top Floor, 158 Pasteur, Bến Nghé, Quận 1, Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam Opening Hours: 10:00 – 22:00
2. Bun Cha 145 Bui Vien
Source
Don’t be fooled – this small, cosy restaurant settled in Ho Chi Minh City’s backpacking district, Bui Vien, scores big on the taste scale!
Bun cha, a Vietnamese dish consisting of grilled pork and white rice noodles, is a popular dish here in Ho Chi Minh City, despite having originated from Hanoi.
Bun Cha 145 Bui Vien knows exactly how to draw people from all walks of life here – you’ll see streams of locals and foreigners entering the shop, enjoying the food and having a good time.
Must try:
As the name suggests, many come here for the delicious bun cha! It’s not as fancy as you would imagine it to be, but the great service that comes with the bun cha will be a bonus.
The owner is affable, and so are the staff, helping us to decide on what to eat and how to eat the bun cha.
Source
The service is super quick and the best part of it all was the cost! It’s pretty affordable, but that’s because the serving size can be small. If you have space in your tummy, don’t be shy to grab another bowl – in fact, most of the tourists here do just that.
Another item on the menu worth mentioning is the famous spring rolls, which I enjoyed so much too. There are plenty of other options to try from, so keep your options open!
Address: 145 Bùi Viện, Phạm Ngũ Lão, Quận 1, Hồ Chí Minh, Vietnam Opening Hours: 11:30 - 16:00, 17:30 – 21:00
Saigon Cafes in Ho Chi Minh, Vietnam
1. Maison Marou – Amazing French Chocolate
Chocolate lovers, rejoice! Have a break at one of the most popular cafes in Ho Chi Minh City.
Here at Maison Marou, chocolates are specially and freshly made in-house by chefs daily and you can view the entire process behind glass windows. Combining traditional French recipes with locally grown single origin cacao and some of Vietnam’s finest ingredients, this cafe whips up great chocolates, albeit at higher prices.
Started by two French chocolate lovers, Maison Marou has evolved into one of the most adored cafes around Ho Chi Minh City. In fact, Maison Marou is so well-known that you’ll see groups of tourists and locals entering the shop to see what the hype was about.

Personally, I feel that Maison Marou wants to share its love for chocolate with the world, so much so that it invests heavily in sharing its origins by dedicating a sizeable section of its café to show the history of chocolates in Vietnam via its massive mural of information. The artefacts, like an old chocolate-making machine, add to the amazing ambience of the cafe.
Must Try:
Knowing that they specialize in chocolates, I decided to go for the most chocolate-y drink. Their signature hot chocolate is a good start! Frothy and delicious, it certainly awakened my sweet tooth.
If you want to bring a piece of the magic back home, they have packet chocolate bars available!
Address - 167 Calmette, Nguyễn Thái Bình, Quận 1, Hồ Chí Minh, Vietnam Opening Hours - 09:00 - 23:00
2. Partea – English Tearoom
If you’re in the mood for some English tea in a fine, classy British setting, then Partea’s for you!
Located within a building on the 5th floor near the city centre, Partea houses a wide range of English tea which are served in unique porcelain cups and tea pots when you buy a pot.
Partea is located inside a seemingly old, derelict building on the outside. As you gaze up the building, you’ll see many people sitting by the window, sipping drinks and having a chat. To get to Partea, you might have to climb up flights of stairs, as the elevators might not be fully operational (it happened to me) or large enough to transport everyone.
Paradoxically, you’ll soon notice that there are plenty of hipster cafes and boutique shops housed inside this building. I learnt my lesson – never judge a book by its cover!
What attracts me to Partea the most is the unique design and style of the café, so much so that I spent almost half an hour walking around and taking photos of the cute aesthetics, completely ignorant of the fact that my drinks and dessert were already waiting for me at my table!
We met a local friend, Linh, to go to Partea right when it just opened. I purchased the freshly baked chocolate brownie (it was so good!) and English Breakfast tea that comes in a teapot. The teapot serves about 4 to 5 cups.
It’s great for when you want to hang out with friends and chill over non-alcoholic drinks, admiring and basking in the cute ambience.
Address - Floor 4, 42 Nguyen Hue street, District 1, Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam 700 Opening Hours - 09:00 - 22:30
3. L’Uisine
This cafe was where I had my dinner on the first night in Ho Chi Minh City. L’Uisine was one of those hip, modern cafes that virtually everyone would recommend you to visit.
Situated within walking distance from Ben Thanh Night Market, we walked to the café with huge expectations at around 8:30pm, and were we glad it was still open then!
The cafe also doubles as a bar, serving alcoholic beverages that you can get for special prices during their happy hours from 5pm to 7pm daily. Apart from that, the cafe serves a selection of main dishes fit for your breakfast, lunch or dinner meals.
We ordered a fish and chips for two together with Vietnamese iced coffee and chocolate brownie with vanilla ice cream.
The prices were pretty steep and the serving size was small. The fish and chips felt like something you can get for a third of the price.
However, the highlight of the night was the amazing Vietnamese iced coffee; the aroma, body and taste of the coffee is one that is hard to replicate once you’re out of Vietnam.
On top of that, they have a nice ambience too. Decorated with wooden furniture and bright fairy lights, it’s a suitable venue to just hang out and enjoy a night out with friends and loved ones (the café is located on the second floor of a shophouse with an open-air balcony)!
Budget Tip: Students get to enjoy an additional 15% off! You just need to bring your student pass and show it to them upon payment to receive this discount. 😉
Address - 151/5 Dong Khoi St, District 1, Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam 70000 Opening Hours - 07:30 - 22:30 Menu
4. Ichi Cat Café
For the record, I’ve never ever been to a cat café before, so I was really looking forward to this! I was just travelling around Ho Chi Minh City and saw that Ichi Cat Café was just minutes away from where I was, so I thought, “Why not?”
Located just outside of the city centre, Ichi Cat Café is home to over 15 cats of all sizes.
This slideshow requires JavaScript.
There is an entry fee of 40,000 VND/USD1.80 for each adult, exclusive of the drinks and snacks. There’s a wide range of drinks available from smoothies to yogurt drinks that you can choose from. I ordered an iced chocolate coffee, and I concluded that their drinks aren’t that exceptional, for the price I paid.
The highlight of the visit was seeing the many cats all over the café.
My belief of cats being lazy creatures was firmed up when I tried to play with them. All I got in return were nonchalant “leave me alone” expressions.
Even then, the species are really unique – not the kind you’d see on the streets. They were furry and cute, even when they were lying there, doing nothing most of the time.
Still, seeing them move around and posing for pictures make for a perfect evening – or should I say, purrr-fect. 😊
Address: 221/2 Trần Quang Khải, Phường Tân Định, Quận 1, Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam Opening Hours: 10:30 – 22:00 Menu

The point to point Guide to Boosting Your Google Rankings without Getting Penalized
Top rankings are a peak of online business success. According to google by in visible Web works, the first page of Google gets 90% of web traffic, with following pages getting 10% of less of total traffic. But the fact is, it takings creativity, devotion, perseverance, and originality. This is mainly exact because of the constantly-changing nature of Google’s algorithm.
Though there’s no magic, there are steps you can take to fly to the top of a search engine results page (SERP). I learned this the tough way. But happily, you don’t have to.
I am going back to essentials with on-page SEO to support you know the new SEO guidelines, study how to optimize for both persons and search engine algorithm crawlers, and to main on-page and off-page SEO.
Here are the few steps I will cover all guidelines:
Step 1: Get to understand the Google ranking algorithm
I should wall exact into some actionable SEO tactics to use on your website right now. But I need to set up for long-standing success so that you are not penalized when a new update rolls out.
A Google executive speaks approve that Google is regularly changing their algorithm, even though most of these changes aren’t widely announced or defined.
Step 2: Consider your current search ranking
In directive to increase your ranking, you will want to know where you viewing now. This is right even for new sites. Appreciatively, there are several tools and resources that can help you.
If you have been pointing exact keywords in page content, use SERPs.com to judge your rank. Type in your keyword (I used “content marketing” in this example) and your site URL. You always have other choices like watching at google results, selecting between desktop or mobile, and drilling down on local rankings.
The results page will display a few stuffs:
First, where your site ranks in search engines result page for the time
The first page on your website that derives in search results for the area
Your regular monthly searches
Check your website speed first; it’s important to check website speed, as this is a key Google ranking factor. If your site is slow, you have a slight chance of a high search position.
Check your website’s health after viewing at keyword search engine rank and website speed, measure the health of your site before you start to improve. Domain report and website google penalty.
Step 3: Track and measure the right metrics
Next, it’s time to track some vital metrics of your site to find out what other factors you need to improve. Here are the most important metrics to assess.
Organic traffic
It’s main to see how many visitors find your site via Google. Crushing non-organic channels like paid search and social media, which drove 10% and 5%?
The study also displayed that organic search was the main source of revenue for each and every industry, excepting media and entertainment, where email, display, and referrals led by a small margin.
Organic traffic changes
Analysing your search traffic, it’s price paying careful to the keywords that generate traffic for your website.
One way to find these is a simple tool called SERP Test. I have been using it to find the keywords that change organically for my website.
SERP Test will display you the keywords that have referred organic traffic to your website within the last months.
This tool creates it easy to track the data that you want from Google Analytics and to know the extensive image linking to keywords on your site. But, you still want more.
Step 4: Analyse and solve your current penalties
Nowadays you know your search ranking and have set up tracking for the most main metrics; it’s time to inspect your site in feature to understand if there are any penalties in consequence. This is essential because there is no fact in authorizing or building links to an unhealthy site.
Latest Google update changed search algorithm designs to make sure that link schemes don’t work anymore.
Anyway of on-page SEO, bad links do offend you. Use them and you will suffer a penalty rather than your future goal of working to recover Google rankings.
That’s why it’s vital to reason about how you generate links to your website.
It’s always important to see which links are damaging to your site so that you can remove them. Google Penguin 2.0 completes it much easier to identify low-quality links.
There are several free tools to support you identify unhealthy links. Two that I have worried contain Monitor Backlinks.
Request manual link removal – Visit the website where the unhealthy links are approaching from and communication the site owner. Ask the website owner to also remove your link or add a no follow tag to it.
Any case, don’t ask the website vender to remove your links because they might accept you are a spammer and ignore you.
Use Google’s disavow links tool – If you are failed in getting unhealthy links removed, your only choice is to use Google’s own disavow links tool.
Though manual link removal is best, this is a great second choice.
The disavow tool is part of Google Search Console. Once you open Search Console, you will see a list of all of your sites.
Go to the website for which you need to disavow links.
When you check for unnatural links, you have the one choice to export the links that you find. If you have done this, upload the file and click like you, Google can’t actually remove the links as they don’t have access to the referring sites.
Though, responsibility this approves Google to stop temporary link juice from those links to your page content. Anchor text can play a main role in improving or completely finishing your search ranking. As I stated earlier, if you need a normal link profile, you have to increase anchor text.
Step 5: Boost Google Ranking with your on-page SEO
Today that you know which keywords you need to target and should be pointing to exploit your performance, you are armed to make expressive on-page SEO modifications.
Optimize your title tags
Title tags have endured the check of time. Make sure that every title tags are unique, descriptive and provided to your targeted keywords.
Mainly avoid using the same keywords and title tags.
Say that you’re an ecommerce company. A good formula for your product pages should be: – Product Name – Product, Brand name
Mostly use Dashes (-) or pipes (|) used, Mostly avoid ALL CAPS titles. They are just horrible.
First Put the most important and unique keywords first.
Put your possible visitors before Google – title tags can make-or-break traffic and conversions.
