This is really hard to pick. I don't care about being objective about these things -- I just like characters for different reasons.

(I do have one really hard and fast opinion, though -- Rainbow Dash is an amazing character.)

Hey Frank, do you know anything about training GPT-J? Are you interested in machine learning?

Not much, but a few things:

The first thing is this paper, which I think says a lot about what the "GPT-J″ model is -- it's really the second-to-last layer of the GPT-3 model. "GPT-J" is a different thing from what they've been calling "GPT-J," which is a model with 2^14 cells. It's hard to imagine how they could have gotten 14 billion tokens out of something that tiny (if we allow you to make a lot of very small token-generators that happen to output these particular sequences, then you can imagine how you'd do it).

The second thing is a more technical paper that you might be interested in, here (this paper uses the term "GPT-J," but not GPT-J)

if My Little Pony characters aren't real, how'd they make the show? HA!

My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic is a really fascinating show because it's a children's TV show created with a very specific, bizarre target audience in mind. (In my experience, many of the adult fans are basically "the type of people who like this show")

They've even made it explicit that they didn't want to make another Ghibli movie with a very Japanese target audience. That's why they had the English dub removed, for instance. (I've only watched the English dub -- I haven't bothered watching the Spanish, German, Korean, etc.)

They made it a show about friendship and kids' show tropes as references to things children and young people find appealing, without putting much effort into trying to make a show that young children would like. This doesn't necessarily mean it's a bad show -- it's very well-made and entertaining, even when it's not trying to be a reference to things kids might enjoy. (Even the most adult-accessible references have things that won't appeal to a wide audience, after all.)

But it's very different from a typical children's cartoon, which is mostly about doing cool and dramatic things to characters, which is sometimes fun but not necessarily meant to appeal to adults as much as it can appeal to kids.

I was wondering why adult fans tend to find My Little Pony interesting even when they're very different from typical children's shows. I think it's partly just because they are different from typical children's shows. Some of the fans are adults who wanted more out of My Little Pony than kids would. Others just liked the aesthetic and themes, not caring about whether they might be appealing to kids. (I find the show pretty appealing myself -- there is certainly some stuff that is less appealing than it seems to adults, but I found a lot of it to be really funny and interesting and endearing)

There were lots of ways they could have gone in making it a more typical kids' TV show. They chose not to.
