I didn't have a lot of good art this week, but one turned out quite well and previously I was doing Greek mythology, but I also had time for Slavic mythology. Yuleks malipuszek and Koklinka , Topielica Kornelia and Leshy/Leszy.

New Graphic

New graphic has been coloured. Utopce. Based on Slavic mythology. Those were spirits of drowned victims, who would lure & drown other people.This is a completely new approach towards the Slavic Bestiary series, I have added some more colours and at first I was afraid to show it to more people, but I decided to publish it anyway. Below you can see the art progress.

It started with a few sketches.

Then, I started working on the big drawing.

And eventually, I scanned the drawing and started adding colours in Photoshop.

Those are a few details, so that you can see more.

I hope you like my new graphic, it��s a real breakthrough for me to do this in colours, hopefully this series will continue on developing further. Thank you! :)

ON THE SUBJECT OF JAGNA.

The sad thing about Jagna is that during her life she was very helpful and kind, she was a really good healer and herbalist, a good mother to a young boy whose father died before he was even born, a witch practitioner who really just conducted blessings and followed the beliefs of peace and harmony with nature as the source of life. She was still a Slavic woman at the end of the day, so there was plenty of feral in her, especially given her personality, but her first choice was never to do any harm. And then she let someone into her life who ended up betraying her for riches and status, turned the people she cared for against her. They killed her son in front of her and then drowned her, and if that wasn’t enough, she ended up getting turned into something that’s commonly considered a monster.

The thing is, it takes a lot of strength not to give in the monstrous urges, and requires a lot of mental gymnastics and strength of character. That’s not to say she’s innocent, there were times when the instincts won over, particularly with the man that betrayed her and the wizard that tried to steal her powers and conduct experiments on her, among few other casualties. But she prefers to just keep herself to bogs, and lakes, and the fog. People seek her out sometimes, because she’s powerful, but they’re always afraid of her despite presenting herself to them in human form. She’s used to fear, threats, or at best a simple distrust that comes just as soon as they know what she is, without bothering to know who she is.

Topielica /tɔ.pʲɛˈlʲi.t͡sa/ The corpse of a female drowning victim or in the slavic folklore a female demon who dwells in the body of water, either drowned out of despair or purposedly drowned by someone. She is always portrayed as young female who lures young men with crying for help or song and drowns them too 🌊

Nie chcę się zagłębiać dalej, bo to dla mnie historia, @niema-topielica-blog dobrze skomentowała, że on szuka atencji.

U mnie jej nie znajdzie.

Po prostu teraz czuję satysfakcję. Za wszystkie chwile zwątpienia w swoją osobowość, intelekt, urodę, za ataki paniki i arytmię serca. Za bezsenne noce i lśniące łzy.
