The European Union's General Product Safety Regulations (GPSR): A Huge Mess For Some Small & Micro Businesses
Above is an email Amazon sent to sellers many months ago that covers the basics. Not all marketplaces were as forthcoming - or early - with info.
As many of you know, new laws coming into effect Friday December 13, 2024 affect businesses' ability to sell products into the European Union and Northern Ireland (EU and NI). The General Product Safety Regulations (GPSR) impose various requirements on most goods being sold to the EU and NI, and some of those new rules will be very onerous for some small businesses. Furthermore, there are still some unanswered questions that the relevant government bodies hadn't covered until the European Commission did release some more details and an FAQ page very recently [pdf for download at the end of the first section on that page], and until public Q & A sessions were held.
This post contains a brief summary of the GPSR and of the key questions for common small business types, with the best answers I can find at this time. There is a section discussing problems on Etsy (which hasn't yet adapted their platform to the new regulations). I also compiled a list of helpful links including government and marketplace information pages, and places to obtain an "EU Responsible Person" to represent your business.
If anything gets clarified in the near future, this post will be updated.
What Does GPSR Require?
The Amazon summary in the screenshot at the top of this post is one of the easiest to understand, but a shorter overview may work better for some, so here is what eBay has to say:
To comply with the GPSR and related regulations, all business sellers listing items for sale in the EU and NI must include the following information: 1. The product manufacturer's name and contact information 2. If the manufacturer isn’t located in the EU or NI, you’ll have to indicate an EU-based Responsible Person or entity, along with their name and contact details 3. Any relevant product information like model number, pictures, and type 4. Product safety and compliance information like warnings and safety information (which can be included in labels and product manuals) in the local language 5. The CE marking when required by the related regulations applicable to your product
And yes, all of this applies to merchants of all stripes, including small and microbusinesses. Per the EU, “...the GPSR obligations apply to businesses of all sizes. Consumers are entitled to only safe products and therefore exceptions cannot be made based on the size of a business.”
Clearly there are significant hurdles for small and micro businesses: the cost of hiring a responsible person, and the cost of producing the required safety and use instructions and of translating them into local languages. Some may choose to stop sales to the EU and NI instead of complying.
Are There Any Exceptions?
Yes, several types of products are excluded, but most of those already subject to equally strict or even stricter regulations, e.g., medicine, foods, animals etc.
The two main known exceptions of interest to most of my readership are:
Antiques, which seem to be limited to items that are old (but no age is given, as far as I can tell) and generally to art or other collectible items.
Items already available for sale before December 13 of this year.
That second point is good news for many businesses, but please note it only seems to apply to stock made before December 13, not just listings made before that date. Once you run out and need to order or make more products, they then become subject to the GPSR.
Does The GPSR Apply To Digital Products?
It now appears that the new regulations cover items such as digital downloads. The FAQ pdf put out by the European Union very recently states "[t]he GPSR applies to all types of products (physical or digital products too, including software) that are placed or made available on the EU Single Market". At least some analysts agree this can include pretty much everything digital:
I can understand why some folks think that a knitting pattern or a simple art downloadable file should not be covered, and in the future once there is more discussion of and action taken under the GPSR, those products might be excluded. But note that the pdf of FAQs also states "[t]he GPSR is about avoiding and preventing “risks to both physical health and mental health”. Including image files and similar downloads therefore makes some sense.
How Do I Find A "Responsible Person" To Represent My Digital Download Business In The EU?
That's a good question, because I haven't found any verified sources saying they will cover digital items, or any digital sellers mentioning they have found coverage. Many have been denied by the companies they have contacted. [UPDATE: A company called EAS has agreed to represent at least one digital seller.]
If you are aware of any other firms or individuals offering "Responsible Person" services for digital products, please let me know!
(Remember, If you are in the EU/NI, you are the Responsible Person. If your products are manufactured in the EU/NI, the manufacturer is the Responsible Person.)
Does the GPSR Apply To Free Products?
Yes. From the FAQ pdf: "an item provided free of charge falls within the scope of the GPSR.”
In addition to complimentary physical items ("free gifts") sent out with orders, this would seem to include free downloads provided on blogs and social media, on a Patreon site, in YouTube descriptions etc. I’ve not seen much discussion on this aspect of the law for some reason.
Items Offered For Sale Before December 13 Are Exempt, But How Would The Government Know When I First Offered The Product Or When It Was Made?
If you had 100 widgets in stock before December 13 and had them listed on a marketplace or website, by law you can continue to sell those widgets to the EU and NI until all 100 are gone. And if you created a digital file and offered it online before December 13, it should be exempt forever, as long as you do not edit the file after December 13.
But proving you had 100 widgets already made, or that you listed a specific product before the law took effect could be difficult, especially for anyone handmaking their own items. If you are going to continue to sell to the EU and NI after December 13, keep careful records of which stock needs labelling, safety information and translations of use instructions.
Online marketplaces could also create problems if they don't display the date an item was first offered for sale, as happens on Etsy, for example. Every time an item renews, the visible date is reset, and it can be difficult to go through spreadsheets looking for the original listing date, and csv files may not be adequate proof under this law (since they can easily be changed after downloading).
Unfortunately, we won't truly know what evidence will be accepted in these circumstances until the authorities start enforcing these regulations, but this will only be a concern for anyone continuing to sell "old stock" into the EU and NI after December 13, so it is far from the largest concern.
The Case of Etsy - Failure To Comply With The GPSR
Unlike some other marketplaces, Etsy was fairly late in warning its sellers that the GPSR affected them, and how Etsy will approach the law. The blog post included the line "[s]hould Etsy receive a notification from an authority that your product is non-compliant, we will take appropriate action, which may include removing your listing and/or suspending your account." So, the stakes are high here - you could lose your Etsy shop if accused of not complying with the GPSR.
There are currently 2 problems for sellers who decide they can't/won't comply with the GPSR and therefore do not want to offer their items to the EU and NI any more:
Shipping to the UK on Etsy includes Northern Ireland, and sellers anywhere within the UK cannot remove the UK from their shipping profiles. That means they are forced to offer their goods to NI even if they don't want to.
Digital products on Etsy are sold to the whole world by default; there is no way to exclude any countries that Etsy allows sales to. That means every digital listing on Etsy is currently offered in the GPSR jurisdictions, regardless of the seller's wishes or compliance.
The GPSR was published on May 10, 2023. That gave everyone 19 months to get their ducks in a row. However, Etsy has so far done nothing to allow UK and digital sellers to remove their listings from being available in the EU and NI. Nothing.
Support has told some sellers that the corporation is working on it, and that UK sellers could just cancel any sales to NI:
However, it is not good enough to refuse to complete orders to the EU and NI. Any item offered for sale in the EU and NI is automatically subject to the GPSR; just allowing someone to check out is a violation, if the listing and product does not meet the law's requirements.
As of December 13, there is still no way to stop selling to Northern Ireland on Etsy if you are a seller in the United Kingdom, and there is no way for a digital product to be excluded from offer in either the EU or NI. Sadly, this means the only way shops can follow the law is to close for the time being, and some are planning on doing that.
Etsy has failed its sellers, and there is no excuse.
UPDATE (December 13, 2024): Etsy now says it is working on the issues of excluding the EU and NI, but still advises cancelling sales to those locations in the interim, which does not comply with the GPSR. The company had 19 months to figure this out, but they still need a few more weeks at a minimum? Absurd.
Resources and Responsible Person Offerings
I've compiled a separate post on my Patreon, listing some of the official legal and government resources on GPSR, as well as rules and Help pages from some major marketplaces and Print on Demand companies, and a short list of places you can hire a "Responsible Person" for your products:
https://www.patreon.com/posts/sources-and-for-117871846
Please let me know if you find any broken links there, or have other resources to add!
This post will be updated as required.

Go take a look at this beautiful trove of old SparkSound magazines someone is selling on eBay. For the price they might as well be made out of gold, but the seller's been nice enough to take big, largely readable photos of so many of the issues. Is there a similar digital hoard of scanned versions? I'd love to see more! (I've seen photo pages in full but only snippets of the rest.) The absolute like... raw, sloppy, fanzine chaos of these as as official publications from a major label band is blowing my fucking mind, even if it is just for the fan club. It's literally their mom cutting and pasting and cramming mentions from both Melody Maker and TV Guide onto an A3 sheet of paper, layouts be damned. The apostrophe on her typewriter is broken for a couple issues but she carries on with an asterisk. She's also around 60 by this point and banging this out to an audience of hundreds or thousands like it's a local Kiwanis club newsletter. But she's doing it with gusto, by gum, and it's punk as hell. The best thing about it is that the lack of style is made up for by the absolute top-tier access to the band, and her being surprisingly on top of pertinent details.
For those of you who weren't in a fandom before the internet, those behind-the-scenes photos were like your favorite band's proof of life. There was no Instagram or Twitter, or anything that proved they existed between national TV appearances and touring in your area (besides those mentions in Melody Maker anyway). If you were lucky, your fandom had the capacity to trade videotapes and people in Scranton could see local TV appearances in Los Angeles and vice-versa. If you were really lucky they weren't all copies of copies with potato quality sound and video. Likewise, if you wanted the 12" extended European dance mix of a song with a B-side unavailable in the US, you had to either special order it somewhere and pay through the nose, hope it was in the imports section of a record store (and still pay through the nose), or you had to trade cassettes or burned CDs and hope the other person didn't flake on you. The fact that she's saying "Don't go running to the import section yet, the single will be out on ____ record label on this date with this track listing" is WAY more info than we usually got from our official sources. All "Mary Martin" needed to do for exclusive content was take pictures of her sons on vacation. On one page she's absolutely dunking on Russell them in wry cut-and-paste captions and on another she is the perfect hype man, telling people shows at The Greek Theater are gonna sell out so get your tickets early (but hold your horses on travelling- they're working on Japanese dates for September so you may not need to fly to the US). The personal thank-yous! The CARE! *slams fist on table* If any other band had their mom as the head of their fan club it'd be the most contrived shit in the universe, a complete lie, or both. I fucking love these guys.
#sparks#sparks band#Like…even the seminal punk rock fanzine Slash was typeset#And Mary over here is taking care of business between games of canasta#be quiet an old hipster is speaking#i'm a part time sparks blog now

hi! what are your thoughts on the etsy pre-modded 3ds market? do they pose any security risks?
I wouldn't say they pose any security risks, but it's basically one step removed from the people who sell spoof amiibo cards. The only difference is that spoof amiibo cards are a bit more difficult to make and people also generally add custom art and printing techniques to make it worthwhile. (It requires specialized tools that not everyone will have access to) On top of that, they are cheaper than actual amiibos (for obvious reasons)
A 3DS however is really easy to mod, doesn't require any special tools (other than a computer with an SD card slot, something that you can access at most public libraries- and depending on the model, a screwdriver) and an etsy modded 3DS will be more expensive than just buying a regular one off of ebay.
On top of that, you don't know what version of hacks they use or have the backup files incase something goes wrong- so if you brick it by accident then it's going to be 20x harder to bring it back.
Never buy a modded 3ds for more than $200. A good price range for a 3DS is $150~$70. Modded 3ds's should be on the lower end.
TL;DR- it's a scam more than anything and it's better to hack it yourself so that you know exactly what you are messing with. if you are buying a pre-modded 3DS they should go for less than a non-modded one.
#having bricked 3ds's in the past due to messing around#they were pretty easy fixes#but if i didn't know how i bricked it; what type of hacks i was using; or had the backup files then something could have gone wrong#also there are plenty of discords and forums you can use to assist you in your modding journey#google is your friend#asks#cfw

My Foodfight! Collection: Or How I Learned To Stop Worrying And Love Foodfight!
So here it is, here's my Foodfight! collection. Since I've been writing this blog for over a year now, I thought it was worth finally showing off all the merchandise I've collected during that time, as well as talking about the relationship I've developed with the movie over the course of my many posts. But first, the collection- from left to right, we have the Cinnamon Sleuth cereal box (yes it's fanmade but I still think it looks cool enough to be included), the Junior Novelization that started it all, a Daredevil Dan plush, a Dex Dogtective plush, a copy of the movie on DVD, the Deluxe Sound Storybook, a Polar Penguin Plush, and 18 inches of Cheazel T. Weasel.
The plush toys are especially interesting- I don't think I've really discussed this before, but they all have a tag on the back stating they're not to be sold at retail... I guess these were only intended for arcades and carnivals as prizes, which is where they ultimately ended up, but I've heard at least one person who worked on the movie claim these were being sold in stores as well. So... chalk that up to another unsolved mystery, even if it's not a particularly interesting one. If I had to guess, the Playmates action figures and more detailed plush toys I talked about a while ago were meant to sold in stores, but the deal fell through and somehow these cheaper Nanco plush toys ended up there instead, on top of arcades and carnivals as originally intended. Maybe Nanco just produced so much stock, anticipating the movie to be a big hit, then when it got delayed time and time again they had to sell them off however they could. I know these Nanco plush toys come in a BUNCH of different sizes- for instance, I have an 18 inch Cheazel, but there are smaller variants that show up on eBay every now and then. Speaking of Cheazel by the way...
About 10 years ago, a small child in Nebraska got stuck in a claw machine trying to win a Cheazel plush, with the incident even making the local news. You can read all about it in the above link- thankfully he was fine and nobody was injured, but it's just crazy to me that something Foodfight!-related was picked up by the news media and that there was a kid out there who wanted a Cheazel plush so bad he was willing to crawl into a machine for it. It's also a testament to how, after the movie came out, these plush toys were EVERYWHERE- there are so many stories of people finding them at local carnivals, and it's why a lot of them are still showing up on eBay to this day. I wonder if the Cheazel plush I have now is the same one this child tried to win many years ago...? Probably not, but it's certainly a possibility.
One more thing about the toys while I'm still on the topic- I know I've mentioned it before, but a bunch of concept art and prototype images for the Playmates plush toys and figures were found among the recently shared files from the Foodfight! tie-in game, and I just thought I'd share them here for anyone who hasn't seen them yet. While I love the idea of Dex Dogtective's Price Gun and the Daredevil Dan Crash N' Spin Plane, I've gotta say.... the plush toys we actually ended up with are WAY cuter. I know they're just prototypes, but look at how bulbous Cheazel's eyeballs are, it's just offputting. Granted, the character is equally if not more offputting in the actual movie, but when you compare it to the Nanco plush...
I mean just look at him, he's adorable!! How could you not like him, how could anybody like him? The tongue sticking out, the dopey expression on his face...he's just a rascal, a scamp, a mischief maker. I think in general the Nanco plush toys are by far the most visually appealing versions of the characters, partly because they're soft and huggable, but also because they all look really friendly and gentle in a way the designs never really did onscreen, even in the early footage.
Anyway, as for the rest of my collection, there's not a whole lot TO say about it that I haven't already said- I've already discussed the novelization and Deluxe Sound Storybook at length, I made the Cinnamon Sleuth box myself, and the only notable thing about the DVD is that one of the Chapter Select options takes you straight to the end credits. And so I instead wanted to take this time to talk about how Foodfight! has affected me over the past year.
When I first found the novelization on eBay, I just KNEW I had to write about it. Nobody else was talking about it, it was the only copy available for purchase anywhere, there was no other mention of it on the entire internet, and it seemed like no-one else even knew it existed. I was inspired by Ryan North's B To The F blog, in which he reviews the similarly obscure Back To The Future novelization, feeling this could be my very own "B To The F" moment. That kind of moment only comes along once in a lifetime, and so even though I was in the middle of an incredibly stressful move at the time, I bit the bullet and started my blog anyway. Ever since then... it's like Foodfight! exploded, all over the internet. A large part of that was of course thanks to Ziggy Cashmere's incredible work on ROTTEN: Behind The Foodfight, but it still made me feel like writing about the novelization opened a Pandora's Box of Foodfight! material across the world, or like I was living through an ARG designed just for me. I made a fangame, interviewed a cast member, I even got a speaking line in the aforementioned ROTTEN, and the more I wrote the more Foodfight! news seemed to come out. Every time I thought we'd found everything there was left to find, something new would come up and I'd be pulled right back into it. And through all that...god help me, I actually started to like Foodfight!.
To be clear, I still think it's a bad movie. As a matter of fact, it's one of the worst movies ever made. BUT...it's the greatest movie STORY ever told. Everything that went on behind the scenes, all the scrapped tie-in products, videogames, crazy anecdotes about the director, it all coalesces into something much greater than itself. In the same way, it felt like writing about Foodfight! allowed me to be a part of something greater than myself too. I got involved with a community of like-minded fans, was lucky enough to able to share previously lost media with the entire world, connected to the internet in a way I hadn't in years, and did something nobody else had done before and will likely never do again. Maybe THAT'S the real Foodfight!...no, I really mean it. When you dedicate enough time and passion towards something forgotten and obscure, it takes you on this special kind of journey that's hard to describe, but you come out the other end with this genuine appreciation for it you couldn't have found anywhere else. Like if you didn't care so much then maybe you would never have got it, but you did and so you you really DO understand. Like at the end of Be Kind Rewind, when Jerry and Mike can't save the video store but it doesn't matter because through making their movies they brought the community together and shared a story in the way only they could. Maybe that's what this was for me, sharing a story in a way only I could. To date, not a single other copy of the novelization has surfaced anywhere... it really does feel like it was my destiny to write about it. Even if I stop updating this blog someday, I'll never forget about everything I went through writing about Foodfight! The Junior Novelization...but for now, here's to another year.

Where I get my clothes, and where to buy clowncore fashion
Alright so, ever since I’ve started posting my outfits on here and instagram I’ve been frequently asked where I get my clothes so I decided to just make this post I can direst people to when they ask. What I’m going to be covering in this post is:
☆ Where I buy my clothes
☆ Where I got the specific pieces that are most frequently asked about
☆ Brands/shops that sell clowncore and kidcore fashion
☆ About where the pieces used in my urstyle sets come from
Let me know if you want me to make a clowncore style guide/ post with basics and recommendations for starting to wear the fashion.
WHERE I BUY MY CLOTHES
The answer to that is that majority of my clothes, and especially the more interesting pieces are bought second-hand, either from thrift stores or depop. If you’re looking for weird or colorful clothes, thrift stores and antique stores are the first place you should check because a lot of common things in clowncore fashion such as weird/ugly sweaters or colorful frilly blouses are vintage.
When buying stuff online, yes you can search for terms like “clowncore” or “kidcore” and get results from people who know those aesthetics, but I usually have better luck finding stuff I like by making a pinterest board of clothes I want, and then searching for specific items on depop and ebay.
For example some of the things I search for are “colorful vintage sweater” “clown sweater” “colorful 80s blouse” “vintage rainbow sweater” “vintage bed jacket” “square dance dress”. I also search for old Lazy Oaf stuff, because I feel like 2010s Lazy Oaf goes well with clowncore. The only other brand I specifically search for is Eagles Eye, who made some of the weird sweaters I own.
Accessorizing is also important for this style, and you can find stuff like patterned socks/tights, novelty purses, and quirky earrings pretty easily on Amazon and Ebay. But I’d also recommend looking on Etsy to find more unique and better quality accessories.
WHERE I GOT SPECIFIC PIECES:
These are just the ones most frequently asked about so I thought I’d put them in here, if there’s something else not included here feel free to ask.
Blue clown face sweater: This was bought in 2016 from beautifulhalo.com and sold out soon after I got it. It’s actually a dupe of a very similar Lazy Oaf sweater that was sold out before that.
Red letter skirt: I actually made this myself out of a plain red circle skirt I thrifted, and some foam letters that you can buy in the kids arts and crafts section of walmart or similar stores.
Fuzzy red cartoon eye dress: This is from Lazy Oaf, I got it second hand on ebay.
Crayola crayons sweater: I bought this on ebay, the brand is the Eagle’s Eye.
Blue burger top: This is another Lazy Oaf piece I got on ebay.
M&M button up shirt: I got this in NYC from the M&M store there in 2019, I’m not sure if they still sell them or if they’re available online.
Red clown sweater: I bought this on Etsy in 2017 and I’m under the impression it was one of a kind, but I’m not 100% sure.
Rainbow striped top: My mom got me this for Christmas in 2019 I think, and I’m pretty sure she got it from Amazon. It’s a dupe of a top made by Minga London, although the original uses a darker shade of blue. You can probably still find it if you search “rainbow stripe turtleneck” or something.
Rockafire Explosion Rolfe and Earle tee: Got this from https://www.cafepress.com/rockafireworld, they have merch of the other characters as well.
BRANDS/SHOPS THAT SELL CLOWNCORE AND KIDCORE FASHION:
Here are some links to brands, stores, and depop accounts that sell clowncore and kidcore type clothes. Note that some of them sell other clothes besides that so you might have to look through their stuff.
https://www.kinaandtam.com/ (Can be a bit pricey, but I’ve bought a sweater from them and it’s great quality, def recommend)
https://www.lazyoaf.com/collections/lazy-oaf-x-nhozagri (while i feel like the lazy oaf aesthetic has shifted and become less kidcore over the years, they still do make colorful weird stuff sometimes)
https://theraggedpriest.com/ (have some cool colorful stuff if you look for it)
https://www.depop.com/kitschcore/ (vintage clothes)
https://www.depop.com/sweetcarolinesvintage/ (vintage clothes)
https://www.depop.com/sweaterweatherco/ (colorful sweaters)
https://www.depop.com/maekshift/ (clown costumes)
https://www.depop.com/bluebearboutique/ (colorful collars)
https://www.depop.com/mysticalbaby/ (jewelry)
https://katabasisagora.com/ (upcycled/altered pieces, featured in my urstyle sets multiple times)
https://www.etsy.com/shop/MaliciousDesignsLA (dresses and sets, very melanie martinez-esque but some also give me clown vibes)
https://www.etsy.com/shop/ichigoblack (bloomers, dresses and skirts)
https://www.etsy.com/shop/KawaiiKave (accessories)
https://www.etsy.com/shop/YellowThreadd (accessories)
https://www.etsy.com/shop/SistersEnchanted (clown collars)
https://rommydebommy.com/ (realistic food purses - super expensive but very cool i dream of owning one T_T)
https://www.fashionbrandcompany.com/ (duh)
That’s all I can think of atm, hopefully I’m not forgetting anything I know of
ABOUT MY URSTYLE SETS
If you follow me it might be because of my urstyle sets, aka outfit collages I’ve made on the website urstyle (it’s just like polyvore). I make these as moodboard basically, putting together outfits for whatever style I’m into at the current moment, but none of the pngs I use are my photos and only a couple of my sets include clothes that I own, since they’re more like pictures of outfits I wish I own. If I want to make outfits with my clothes I can just wear them lol
Some of the pictures I use I uploaded myself from pinterest or other websites, but I also use a lot of pictures that weren’t uploaded by me. For the majority of the clothes, I don’t know where they’re from or where to get them, although there are a few that I do know. If you want to know whether I know where a specific piece is from, just ask me, but please don’t ask the general question of “where are these clothes from” or “where do you buy these” under my urstyle posts since that broad of a question is hard to answer.
Hope this answered some questions people might have!

Some time ago you mentioned you have a ton of Rapunzel art, and I remember seeing a New Dream wall painting too. Do you have some other New Dream or maybe Eugene art?? I need some inspiration XD
Also, thanks for the kind words about my URL on my last ask! <3
Oh man, I have So Much New Dream art (and a tiny bit of Eugene solo art). XD Some of it's official, some of it's fanart, a lot of it isn't even on my walls, because I don't have space, but I have every intention of putting it up someday. Prepare for a lot of art with brief explanations:
Bought at the Disneyland Resort in Anaheim, CA:
The top one was bought at Off the Page in California Adventure. It's actually got dimension, since Rapunzel and Eugene are cut out and raised on some thick foamboard. The bottom two were bought at Wonderground Gallery in Downtown Disney.
From Walt Disney World:
While I have not been to WDW since 1989, I have friends who go frequently, and over the years, they've picked me up stuff. Top left: a wet paint sign they used to use regularly (I'm sure they've change it by now). If the painters were working, and you asked nice, they'd often just give you one or more. I painted the frame, and my sister made the bead garland. Top right: A card handed out at a Valentine's Day event. The other side says "True Love". Bottom left: A parks map and guide. Bottom right: Tangled cards from the Sorcerers of the Magic Kingdom TCG that they no longer do.
Official art from various sources:
Top row: I don't remember the artist, I'm sorry. I've had it for years, though. 2nd row left: a lithograph print of the official art for the Disney Fairytale collection. 2nd row right: two (of five) lithographs that came with the pre-order of the blue-ray at the Disney Store. 3rd row left: a lithograph print of the official art for the Disney Fairytale Designer collection. 3rd row right: LE lithograph of concept art. I don't know what the lithograph was for, but I literally just bought it the other day off eBay. Bottom left (left): wedding silhouettes. Fanart, and unfortunately the artist closed their shop. Bottom left (right): The certificate of authenticity for the 17" Rapunzel wedding doll. Bottom right: two "wedding invitations" from the Disney Store from when Tangled Ever After was going to be released to video.
Briana Garcia:
Left: she used to sell it as a print. Right: A one-of-a-kind gift that a friend got me.
Misc fanart and gifts:
Top left: from that same out-of-business silhouettes artist (I glued them to the sparkly paper myself XD). Top right: a completely black-market print of the first Thomas Kinkade Tangled painting. Middle: This is actually highlighting the wanted poster, which I meticulously recreated. But hey! Life-size standee! Bottom left: a card from a friend. Bottom right: a sticker my boyfriend got me a few Christmases ago.

I made a tribute IWTV crew teeshirt
In the official Behind the Scenes documentary, Sam wears a slate blue teeshirt with a coffin drawing on the front, which I really liked, so I did a bit of investigating. It turned out that this was the "crew shirt" for the show - a promo item made and distributed to cast and crew only. Usually these are pretty tacky affairs with just the show logo on a tee or trucker cap, but I really liked the subtlety of this one - it looks like it does have the show name on the sleeve and a bit of text on the back that can't be read (my guess is maybe "Memory is a Monster"?), but mostly, I was into the coffin drawing. I did some cursory searches on eBay but with NDAs these days, I didn't really expect to find anyone selling theirs. So if I wanted one, I'd have to make one myself!
Since I sew, it was honestly easier to just make myself the base tee rather than buy one. I started with the fabric, using this "Powder blue" bamboo jersey from Textile Express. It's not a perfect match, but it's close enough for me and it's light enough that the black coffin stands out.
For the pattern, I used the Fehr Trade Versatili-Tops pattern, because I liked that it would give it a little something extra than just a standard teeshirt (there's no side seams!).
The next step was to design and cut the coffin detail. The only thing I really had to go on was the scant footage from the Behind the Scenes videos since the graphic was never used in any official promotion material. So I had to recreate the coffin from scratch, using Adobe Illustrator and some rough ink brushes to make it look hand drawn.
Jacob shared a quick little doodle of Louis ahead of the AMA session on Reddit back in November, and someone on Twitter took his Louis doodle and did Lestat and Claudia in the same style, which I absolutely love (and I wish I took note of who it was that did it so I could attribute - message me if you know!). So I turned this into a vector, as well as recreating the "Of Course!" heart that's one of the most used reactions on my favourite vampire Discord server, and cut these out on my Silhouette Cameo machine in black matte heat set vinyl. I placed the coffin on the front chest, in roughly the same placement as the inspiration tee, with the doodle heads on the right sleeve and "Of course!" on the left sleeve.
I absolutely love how it turned out, and is a totally one-of-a-kind tribute to the show. I have no aptitude for the skill involved in creating fan art or fanfic, and I'm not really into cosplay, so this is a way for me to express my love of the show in my way.
And still look like a fairly normal person (joke's on you - I've never been normal!).
PS: if anyone else has access to a Silhouette or Cricut type cutting machine and wants the svg files, let me know and I'll put them up somewhere to download

This guy cracks me up. He's so tall and skinny and that hat perched on top of his head like a cherry on a sundae. Priceless. Okay not priceless. You can buy him if he's still available on my EBAY page.
I'm feeling the need to speak out for E-Bay today. You can whine and complain all you want, tell me Etsy or some other random sight is better but I appreciate what E-Bay does. NO listing fees. Discounted fast easy trackable shipping labels. Easy to use. Reaches a huge audience. It works. Its functional. It's a business. We live in a country that requires us to pay taxes so we can have roads, utilities, more freedom than most of the world can ever dream of, etc. "There are two things you cannot escape in life: Death and taxes."
I am not a business. This little guy took me hours to remove the Mould lines, prime, paint, and varnish. I will sell him for less than $10. I do my best to try and appreciate other's time, effort, skill, talent, resource use, and life. I understand wanting to get things as cheaply as possible but that is not showing respect or that you value someone else's time and skill. If I was trying to make a living off miniature sales and art I would not make it. I wouldn't even be getting paid minimum wage for my artistic... let's just call it talent.
Check out some of my other miniatures, they're pretty good if I do say so myself. Not this guy, he's just well.. let's name him Vern the Gravedigger. willowwind78 on eBay https://www.ebay.com/usr/willowwind78

Manga Haul Roundup: Feb. 6th - Feb. 10th
This has easily been my busiest week in manga hauls by a massive margin (and will be the biggest for ages), and I'd say it's largely because stars aligned within such a short period of time for a series of miracles. Seriously, Only one retail order out of batch and you'd hardly be able to tell that most of the others weren't retail. Crazy deals, crazy finds, lots of cool stuff to go through! So let's get to it.
Feb. 6th - r/Mangaswap Haul
This was a big one, and super cool at that as it's my first score on the Mangaswap subreddit! Hardly any posts advertising being in Canada, so it can be a bit messy to get anything if you're not on top of it. With this one, I was on top of it, and got a great deal at that. Everything in this haul retails for 300CAD before tax. I got it for 185CAD shipped, just crazy savings I wasn't going to pass up when the books are effectively brand new.
Feb. 7th - Elfen Lied on Kijiji
So for anyone that's not a Canuck, Kijiji is basically a domestic version of eBay. A craigslist, if you will. Though it's better, if only marginally. Anyways, found a used listing for Elfen Lied Vols 1-3 (there's 4 total) on there, and managed to haggle a little bit for a steal of a price. Cost 40CAD, including shipping, to get the volumes here. Sure, 1 and 2 have crease marks on their spines (though Dark Horse is notorious for creasing on larger omnis), but just a single volume of Elfen Lied retails for 33CAD pre tax. Impossible to say no really.
Feb. 8th - Rightstuf Odds and Ends
So, the only thing on this order I really needed was Lucifer and The Biscuit Hammer 7-8, because it's out of stock everywhere in Canada, but buying a single volume from a US retailer wasn't worth it, so I padded the order a bit. Paradise Kiss has been on the list for a while, so throwing on a single volume series was easy enough, and they had a Denpa sale so I grabbed the Shuzo Oshimi art book of course, and I've been needing Otherside Picnic 3 for a while, so it all worked out to be reasonable in the end.
Feb. 9th - Kijiji Haul 2, Electric Boogaloo
In the span of a week I've become a massive Shuzo Oshimi fan haha. 18 volumes of their work plus an art book is quite a bit, but considering the deal, and quality, here it's so hard to say no to. Sure, it's an ungodly amount to spend within the span of a week, but at the same time I have the funds to be able to facilitate that, and they're deals I probably won't see again. So, as an individual be aware of your funds and purchasing habits, don't let a good deal pull you in over your head. Anyways, 100CAD shipped for the set, which is pretty damn good, but I was hoping to hit at least 90CAD on the deal but guy was standing pretty strong with his offer. Can't really complain though when 1-8 retails for 160CAD pretax.
Feb. 10th - eBay Lottery and Kijiji Round 3
Now I wouldn't say I got a deal on the Violet Evergarden Keyframe Collection, but I'd still say it was worth it. I got it for 100CAD (ish) shipped, which you might think isn't that great, but even domestically, the volumes go for around 50CAD each anyways. Then you have to factor in shipping to the proxy's warehouse, then international shipping to you, and if you're Canadian (and it's not a cheap order) there'll be import fees to pay probably. So at the end of the day I saved a good bit of money on the volumes themselves and had an overall easier time getting them here.
Anyways, Zombie Powder. I've been trying to get this for God knows how long, and even worse is that the world keeps tempting me with it. I'll open up Facebook Marketplace or Kijiji and see someone selling a set for dirt cheap, so I'll reach out and have always heard back with, "I'm sorry I just sold it to someone else". Fated to be second place always, the stars finally aligned for my chance and I jumped on it. 30CAD shipped for the set, which is about what all the other ones would have cost me (20CAD for set plus 10CAD shipping was the usual that I saw), so I'm incredibly happy to have gotten such a good price and such a good set overall.
So yeah, a pretty insane week for collecting. I've got a few other things I purchased during this week, but they'll probably be spread out over the next two or so. There'll certainly be some super cool stuff in them though so incredibly excited for it to come in!
Also once more, I really do want to stress how much of an uncharacteristic and impossible to repeat week this has been. This is 36 volumes in a single week. That's more than most people will buy in a month, and for people starting out more than they'll buy in 6 months. It's incredibly excessive, it's expensive, and unless you're reading 3+ volumes a day, will take well over 2 weeks to read it all. I really don't think it's something that people should be doing commonly/frequently, if it at all, and I'd really encourage people to have smarter spending habits than me (unless you're made of money and have zero other hobbies). So yeah, incredibly cool and crazy luck on my part, but I'm also painfully aware of how much it costs and how completely unsustainable it is to keep up, even if it was all used items I got at reasonable prices.

ok so I ordered some AA Merch off Ebay (because someone stateside had some and a lot of times the shipping prices from Japan are what prevent me from getting something) and it came today and hooooooly shit holy fuck I feel so cool
So this is a DS game case. it's not inherently branded on the outside, just a plain brown (probably faux leather) cover and then on the inside it's got an embossed blue badger in every game slot and Gyakuten Kenji on top. I transferred my english game collection to it, but someone still has my copy of game 1 (specifying English because I do have a japanese aai2 cartridge). I also got a program for the 2008 ace attorney orchestra performance, and a few official art prints of Miles, Kay, and Franziska. it genuinely feels so cool having this though like. It's a bit like owning something vintage except this stuff is from 2009 ish. It's more like "they don't make this anymore and don't sell it here and now I have it!"

RECENT ECOMMERCE NEWS (INCLUDING ETSY), January 2024
Welcome to my first commerce news update of 2024!
Now that we are through the intensity of the holiday rush, I plan on getting a few of these out each month. Please follow me on Bluesky or on LinkedIn if you want more timely updates. (New ways to get updates coming soon!)
TOP NEWS & ARTICLES
Some Etsy listings now have a link which displays some shop owners' names and home addresses under the seller contact info, which says “Meet your seller”. This may be legally required in some jurisdictions, including within the US if you don’t have a proper location on your shop, but here is how to remove it if you don’t need it. Here’s some of the info on the US INFORM Act which could require disclosure of your information; the EU and UK are other jurisdictions which sometimes may require this info if you sell to them.
Reminder that UK small sellers may end up having their taxable income reported by the platforms they sell on starting for 2024. “The first deadline for firms to report details of transactions is the end of January 2025 – a year after the rules come into force. Bank account details and the cost of transactions made by sellers with sizable trading activity must be reported.” Etsy reminded shop owners that there is no change in taxes owed in the UK; the changes force platforms to report income so that people can’t evade taxes as easily.
In case you missed it, many USPS rates, as well as forever stamps, went up again on January 21. Some label services such as eBay may actually offer decreases in certain categories, however.
ETSY NEWS
Etsy announced 2 (very different) “privacy” changes at the beginning of January: limiting some third-party apps from receiving buyer email addresses, and making the Etsy forum a seller-only site in the near future. Shops will have to log in to read anything other than Announcements and the Technical Issues sections. We are not yet sure if this applies to shops in long-term vacation mode.
Etsy teased a promotional announcement on Jan. 16, which is likely that the site will be launching Gift Mode [post by me with a link to another post with screenshots]. I’ll write more on that once it is officially released, but here is one of my screenshots from today, with lots of infringement. Also, the site is apparently buying a Super Bowl ad. This year’s ads are expected to cost at least $7 million USD. Etsy forum thread discussing both topics here.
Etsy chose not to respond to this article about AI art sold as indigenous creations. “Etsy has a policy that prohibits users from selling items falsely listed as being produced by Indigenous peoples — but only in Northern America, and allows “Indigenous-style” products by non-Indigenous people.”
Some shop owners from Turkey claim their shops are being shut down at a high rate, with no explanation. At least some had issues with items that cannot be sold on Etsy, and there appeared to be some with ID or financial anomalies. I am still interested in hearing more, if anyone knows anything.
EcommerceBytes covered the Etsy problems with the domestic pricing tool charging some international buyers domestic prices, which have been going on since May 2023. While some sellers have managed to get refunds from the company, others report no such luck.
ECOMMERCE NEWS (minus social media)
General
The Indie Sellers Guild is running a virtual convention in April; read the panel ideas here.
Amazon
Amazon product pages now have a link to get AI-answers to your questions. Expect to see a lot more of this on many types of sites.
There are several keyword tools that can help you optimize your Amazon products; 5 are discussed here, but note that some may be pricy.
The latest layoffs at Amazon include people working for the “Buy with Prime” department.
Amazon’s difficult-to-navigate system for suspensions and other punishments has led to entire law firms dedicated to supporting shops that have been closed or have had listings removed.
BigCommerce
BigCommerce sites can now have a marketplace component, meaning that a single business site can now have other sellers on it.
eBay
eBay had to pay $3 million over its behaviour in the cyberstalking case against Ina and David Steiner, owners of EcommerceBytes. The Steiners issued a victim impact statement; the civil lawsuit in this matter goes to trial in March 2025.
eBay’s discounted Tracked Packet rate from Canada Post has been extended to March 31, 2024.
Buyers and sellers are getting annoyed with long delays in product authentication.
eBay called a few sellers and pushed them to offer cheaper shipping rates, based on the discounted rates for eBay’s labels. (They seem to have forgotten that they charge fees on those shipping rates.)
Poshmark
Poshmark’s recent policy changes included a class action waiver. Changes are effective February 5.
All Other Marketplaces
Depop released its first Trends Report, similar to those put out by its parent company, Etsy.
Bonanza is introducing a combo website builder/inventory integration and accounting platform called Vercado. Price will be $99 a month, so I strongly suggest investigating what - if any - advantages it provides over its competitors.
Payment Processing
PayPal and Venmo are teasing some big ecommerce plans for this year, to be announced on Jan. 25. It involves use of AI, and the possibility of improving engagement rates.
Shipping
There have been numerous reports of major USPS shipping delays, especially in Texas.

tip for art and craft supplies!:
If you live near a city it's worth searching to see if there's a used/recycle art supply shop or exchange near you. Some of them even sell online!
A few random examples with a quick Internet search:
https://makeandmendshop.com/
https://www.indigohippo.org/shop
https://artdillo.com/
http://www.creative-resale.com/site/
Try searching creative reuse, or creative recycle centers. You can find alllll sorts of stuff. (I have a classmate in my painting class who decided to make a mini-community "art supply" library in front of her house. She stocks it herself for people to have free art supplies.)
There are dedicated places for cheap hobby supplies!
More generally, Facebook buy nothing/other community free groups (or craigslist) are abundant in options and friendly people. Goodwill also has a huge online website, & eBay has loads of used lots of supplies.
More advice:
With new "fine art" supplies (drawing, painting, etc) it's important to know that almost everything at big box craft stores (Michaels, joann's, hobby lobby, AC Moore, etc) is listed at or near full MRSP and is going to be wildly overpriced in comparison to ordering from an actual art supply store (Dick Blick's, Jerry's Artarama, Cheap Joe's, Artist & Craftsmen Supply, etc).
For example, the high quality artist (professional) grade watercolor brand Daniel Smith Introductory set is listed at $66.99 at Michael's. The same exact set is $37.59 right now at Blick's. This is a "fancy" brand, but this also applies to craft/student grade (and less high quality) brands. The 24 color Koi pocket field sketch box is $42.99 at Michaels. But at Blick's, it's $25.20. (these might still be out of budget, but like, just illustrating the point that big box craft stores hugely overprice shit.)
If you're basing the prices of art supplies based on what you see inside your local Michael's, keep in mind that that's often almost double the price it might be elsewhere at full price. The 20-30% off coupon might have you still paying more than elsewhere for a brand new product! And you'll be able to find even cheaper used/recycled!
The other thing to do with fine art supplies is to read artist reviews for recommended student/academic grade lines, and to find out what *kinds* of supplies to invest in. Ask artists for advice!
For example, you don't want to try to paint watercolor on printer paper. (watercolor paper can be used as a mixed media paper, but it won't handle all media equally.) Things like: good watercolor paper is more important than the most expensive watercolor paint. Cheap drawing paper will always be better to draw on than printer paper. Lots of student grade oil paints are excellent. Some art store generic brands are also really good. (Iirc Plaza brand is produced by the more expensive Jack Richeson company). Knowing that helps you find good stuff used.
Oh also: art supplies don't need to look "neat and unbroken" to be perfectly usable. Pastels broken? So what? You should be breaking them and sanding them when you use them. People break them on purpose for detail work and smaller sizes all the time. Pastel dust mixed up the colors? Put them in rice and shake em to help clean their colors. Or use sandpaper to sand off the outsides. Pencils or charcoal broken? Doesn't matter because if you'd bought them new, you'd still be taking a knife to the pencil wood to sharpen and shave them anyways. The charcoal would still be cut or sanded. Watercolors or gouache dried out? If it's in pans, spray them down with water or put drops of water on top. You may need to do it for several days to get them easy to work with again. If it dried out in a tube use an exacto to slice open the middle of the tube and use it like a pan. Oil paints dry? Add more linseed oil.
Once you know what kinds of materials you need for a particular media, and what to look for, you can start finding cheap but quality materials more easily. My latest cheap and good find was this Maruman drawing sketchbook from DAISO for $3.25. I'm using it for graphite and pencil sketching — each page has a side with "tooth" that will take the charcoal nicely, and a smooth back side for taking notes or doing smoother drawings with less layering. The paper has handled all my erasing has a nice weight, and can even take ink and a single light wash of watercolor (like watercolor pencil) without any bleed.
Every fun post on here that encourages people to have hobbies/be creative always gets an avalanche of "Some people are poor Karen" type reactions and respectfully, you're all super annoying. I've never lived above the poverty line and this is a list of hobbies I have that were cheap or entirely free:
Read books: Go to the library, lend a book from a friend
knitting, crochet, embroidery: Get some needles from the bargan store and ask around, people have leftovers from projects they'll happily give you. Thrift stores also often carry leftover fabric and other supplies. And talk about your hobby loud enough and an old lady will show up and gift you their whole collection, because there are way more old ladies with a closet full of wool than there are grandchildren who want to take up the hobby.
Origami/paper crafts: get some scrap paper and scissors, watch a youtube tutorial
walking: put on shoes open door
pilates/yoga/etc: get a mat or just use your carpet, watch a youtube tutorial
Houseplants: look online for people that swap plant cuttings. There are always people giving out stuff for free to get you started. If you're nice enough you'll probably get extra
gardening: You're gonna need some space for this one of course but you can just play around with seeds and cuttings from your grocery vegetables.
aquarium keeping is a bit of an obscure one but I got most of my stuff second hand for cheap or free and now I have a few thousand euro worth of material and plants.
drawing/art: You get very far just playing with bargan store materials. I did my entire art degree with mostly those.
writing: Rotate a cow in your head for free
cooking: again one you can make very expensive, but there are many budget recipes online for free. Look for African or Asian shops to get good rice and cheap spices.
Join a non-profit: Cities will have creative organisations who let you use woodworking machines or screen presses or laser cutters or 3D printers etc etc etc for a small fee. Some libraries also lend out materials.
candle making: You need some molds (cheap), wick, two old cooking pots for au bain marie melting and a ton of scrap candles, ask people to keep them aside for you.
a herbarium, flower pressing: Leaves are free, wildflowers too, ask if you can take from peoples gardens.
puzzles: thrift stores, your grandma probably
Citizen science: look for projects in your area or get the iNaturalist app
And lastly and most importantly: Share! Share your supllies, share your knowledge. Surround yourself with other creative people and before you know it someone will give you a pot of homemade jam and when you want to paint your kabinet someone will have leftover paint in just the right color and you can give them a homemade candle in return and everyone is having fun and building skills and friendships and not a cent is exchanged. We have always lived like this, it's what humans are build to do.
And all of it sure beats sitting behind a computer going "No stranger, I refuse to let myself have a good time."
Anyway I'm logging off bc I'm making some badges for a friend who cooked for me and then I'm going to fix some holes in everyones clothes.

Thanos Infinity Gauntlet Toy Reigns as Marvel's Top Trend
In the vibrant landscape of Marvel merchandise, few items have captured the imagination quite like the Thanos Infinity Gauntlet toy. Launched in conjunction with the blockbuster film Avengers: Infinity War in 2018, this toy quickly became more than just a simple collectible. With its intricate design, vibrant colors, and nod to one of the franchise's most iconic villains, the Infinity Gauntlet toy has emerged as a quintessential piece for fans and collectors alike.
thanos marvel toys (3) The gauntlet, which famously houses the six Infinity Stones—Space, Time, Reality, Power, Mind, and Soul—represents the ultimate power within the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Crafted to resemble the prop seen in the films, it allows fans to not only admire its aesthetic appeal but also to engage with the narrative of the saga in a playful way. It serves as a tangible connection to the universe where battles are fought and destinies are decided with the snap of a finger.
thanos marvel toys (4) As of 2024, this trend shows no signs of slowing down. The Thanos Infinity Gauntlet toy remains a top seller in the Marvel collectibles market, demonstrating its lasting appeal across generations. Retailers report that sales have surged during the holiday seasons, often selling out as fans clamor to add this iconic piece to their collections. Online platforms such as eBay and Amazon frequently feature listings that reflect its desirability, with prices sometimes soaring beyond retail due to scarcity. What makes this toy particularly intriguing is its ability to transcend age demographics. While younger fans may be drawn to its colorful design and the excitement of re-enacting their favorite scenes, older collectors appreciate it as a nostalgic reminder of their adventures in the Marvel universe. It is not merely a toy; it is a conversation starter, a piece of art, and a slice of cinematic history that invites endless storytelling possibilities. Collecting has always been about more than just ownership. It’s a celebration of fandom, an invitation to participate in the narratives we cherish. The Infinity Gauntlet toy captures that essence beautifully. With its intricate details and vibrant colors, it beckons to fans both young and old, igniting imaginations and sparking discussions. “What would you do if you had the power of the Infinity Stones?” is a question that leads to countless hours of playful banter—and maybe a few overly dramatic reenactments of favorite scenes.
thanos marvel toys (1) Of course, no toy is without its critics. Some may argue that it’s merely a glorified paperweight—a trinket destined to collect dust on the shelf. But let’s not be too hasty!
