In my research, I have come to see the entertainment industry as a major factor behind popular fears of nuclear.
Movies like “China Syndrome” (US - 1979), “Die Wolke” (Germany - 2006) and “Pandora” (South Korea - 2016) all contributed to the halting of nuclear plant construction, and the burning of fossil fuels instead.
Mazin insisted that his mini-series would stick to the facts. "I defer to the less dramatic version of things,” Mazin said, adding, “you don’t want to cross a line into the sensational."
And so, by the time I sat down to watch HBO’s “Chernobyl,” my dread had given way to hopeful anticipation. Could it be that Hollywood was finally going to represent the worst nuclear accident fairly and accurately?
In the first episode of “Chernobyl” the nuclear reactor explodes, blows the top off the building, and catches on fire. The plant workers vomit, their faces turn red, and several appear to die.
We  see a plant worker in his twenties hold open a door to the reactor hall and various parts of his body start to bleed. He rescues a comrade with a red, blistered, and bloody face, and appears to leave him for dead in a hall. Later we see the man slumped over and smoking what appears to be his last cigarette.
Later, the plant manager who was in denial about the accident becomes violently ill after he learns the true scale of the disaster. As he leaves for the hospital, we see a fireman who is carrying a body on a stretcher collapse and drop the body.
I was left thinking that dozens of workers and firefighters were immediately killed, but according to the official United Nations report (p. 66) on the accident, just two workers, not dozens, or hundreds, were killed within a few hours of the explosion.
Neither of the workers died from radiation. One was killed by the rubble from the explosion and the other by thermal burns from the fire.
Two-thirds of the Chernobyl first responders who died had thermal (fire) burns in addition to having been exposed to extremely high levels of radiation.
“In five cases, skin injuries [from thermal burns] were the sole cause of death,” concludes the UN report (p. 624). By contrast, “six patients who did not suffer fatal skin burns” survived.
I don’t know if Mazin and HBO meant for viewers to assume that all of the symptoms that viewers witnessed were from radiation, instead of from fire, or that many more workers and firefighters died right away than actually did, but that was the impression I was left with.
Chernobyl’s total death toll is small compared to other famous disasters. According to the United Nations, 28 first responders died a few weeks after the accident, and since then 19 died for ”various reasons” including tuberculosis, cirrhosis of the liver, heart attacks, and trauma. The U.N. concluded that “the assignment of radiation as the cause of death has become less clear.”
Accidental deaths are always tragic, but it’s worth putting them in perspective. The worst energy disaster, the collapse of a hydroelectric dam in China, killed between 170,000 and 230,000 people. The Bhopal chemical disaster killed 15,000.
In earlier studies, the UN estimated there could be up to 16,000 cases attributable to Chernobyl radiation.
Since thyroid cancer has a mortality rate of just one percent, that means the expected deaths from thyroid cancers caused by Chernobyl will be 50 to 160, with the vast majority of them occurring in the elderly.
That’s it. There is no reliable evidence that radiation from Chernobyl caused an increase in any other disease or malady including birth defects.
Research showing increases in birth defects “lacked data about confounding risk factors such as maternal alcohol intake and diet,” note the Oxford researchers.
Even the lead author of a paper showing higher birth defects from Chernobyl radiation later admitted, “We did not prove with this study that radiation causes birth defects.”
The radiation from Chernobyl may have caused more harm than was measured but, if it did, it didn’t cause enough to be detected against all of the other things that cause harm.
Mazin says he took seriously his responsibility to stick to the facts, but as the episode progressed, my fears grew.
The wife of one of the main characters, a firefighter, is pregnant, as are other women. We see several ominous scenes of parents pushing their newborn babies in strollers.
It’s hard to believe HBO would put all of those pregnant women and babies in Act I if it weren't going to show widespread birth defects, and suggest a causal connection, in Act III.
If its death toll is so low, why does Chernobyl continue to arouse our fascination and fears, and garner tens of millions of dollars in HBO funding?
Part of the answer, I believe, is because nuclear accidents remind us of nuclear bombs and our vulnerability to them.  Early in “Chernobyl,” one plant worker asks another, “Is it war? Are they bombing?” The conversation is repeated later by other workers. The plant manager and Communist Party bureaucrats meet in a special room designed "to withstand a nuclear attack by the Americans."
In the end, HBO’s “Chernobyl” suggests that whatever the intentions of its producers, it is difficult to make an exciting movie about nuclear disasters without leading viewers to believe that they were much worse than they actually were.

How does PCOD affects fertility
Tumblr media
PCOS and PCOD are utilized reciprocally yet they do have a few contrasts, nonetheless, the thing that matters is extremely less. PCOD is the condition that influences the ovaries and is restricted to the ovaries just while the PCOS influences the total digestion of the body and its working in a portion of the other way. PCOD incredibly influences the ripeness of a lady by disturbing the working of the female conceptive framework.
 fertility clinic in india
India ivf medical clinic is the best Infertility ivf treatment Hospital in India and we have gives numerous fruitlessness medications administrations like IVF,IUI,ICSI,LAH,PCOD Our primary care physician has prescribed me to visit India IVF for treatment to defeat barrenness.
What happens when you have PCOD?
The working of the ovaries is coordinated by the pituitary organ. They impart by means of the creation of hormones. Consistently, it discharges the FSH i.e., Follicle Stimulating Hormones and the Luteinizing Hormone into the circulation system. When these hormones arrive at the eggs, they start developing while the size of the follicles extends and secretes estrogen (female sex hormone). There is a sure degree of estrogen, which when come to, the pituitary organ sends a flood of Luteinizing Hormones to the ovaries. Next, what happens is the follicle, which is most experienced, discharges the egg. This is the thing that we allude to as ovulation. At that point the discharged egg anticipates treatment and in the event that it doesn't happen the egg alongside the uterus coating are shed as the consequent menstrual period arrives.  PCOD affects fertility
The majority of the above procedures happen when you don't have PCOD. We should perceive what occurs in PCOD. At the point when a lady has PCOD disorder, the pituitary organ secretes strange measure of LH (Luteinizing Hormone) into the circulatory system. In this way, at last what happens is the follicles neglect to develop and ovulation doesn't occur. This prompts barrenness. These follicles probably won't break down either and form into blisters. Another reason of barrenness can be, unusual measure of insulin in your blood. At the point when the overabundance of insulin consolidates with abundance of LH, they produce very high measures of male sex hormone, i.e., testosterone. Irregularity in the degrees of testosterone in the ovaries forestalls the procedure of ovulation and causes fruitlessness. It additionally causes other issue related with PCOD like skin inflammation and anomalous hair development. Hence, on the off chance that you are pondering "in what manner will PCOD influence my richness", we have bound the real methods for how the fruitfulness is influenced by this disorder.

Plea in SC raises concern over safety of health care workers
A plea has been filed in the Supreme Court raising concern over the safety of healthcare workers, including nurses and paramedical staffs, and has sought directions to authorities to provide proper protection kits to those working in COVID-19 wards or in close proximity of patients suspected to be infected with the deadly virus. The application, filed by United Nurses Association, has sought permission to intervene in the matter relating to the treatment of COVID-19 patients and dignified handling of dead bodies in the hospitals in which the apex court has taken cognisance on its own.
The association has said in its application that healthcare workers are "at the frontline of the COVID-19 outbreak response" and are exposed to hazards, including long working hours and psychological distress, that put them at risk of infection. "The health and safety (physical/mental) of healthcare workers are of utmost importance because any further shortage of health care workers would result in thousands of unattended COVID-19 patients, which will have serious repercussions including escalation of the present situation and resultant impact on the economy, medical facilities, potential deaths and loss of human resource," the application said.

For the most part, Indian surrogates are young ladies from poor networks. In gujarat, numerous ladies wed youthful; As such, they are finished giving birth to their own kids by the age of 20. The surrogates are predominantly low-income day workers who are hitched to other day workers. The family is often in urgent need of another roof for their home or other essential nourishment and haven. This is a noteworthy contributing element in the choice to be a surrogate. Likewise, a portion of the surrogates in Gujarat are displaced people (Often from Nepal and Tibet). These ladies go to the region to profit in the wake of learning of the zone’s notoriety, and they leave the zone not long after giving birth.
While a few surrogates do profit, the remuneration isn’t directed and there is no help for the ladies regarding long-haul financial strength. At last, these surrogates have no standardized savings designs. The pitiful assets they are given often go to their spouses, who spend the cash. The ladies have no chance to get of saving for the future or a fallback plan.
Ordinarily, surrogates consent to experience the involved systems thinking that the cash will be adequate to pay for another house or their own particular kids’ training, yet there is no connection between that claim and reality. According to ms. Mishra, numerous surrogates are “brainwashed” by the operators who guarantee tremendous entireties of cash and a superior future, at the end of the day mastermind the ladies to make a little entirety.
Post-natal care: Surrogates are not for the most part gave exhaustive post-natal medicinal services or counseling in the wake of leaving the hospital. There is the potential that maternal passings occur post-conveyance, however there is no documentation (to some degree on the grounds that a significant number of the ladies vanish subsequent to giving birth).
Gujarat is the site of half of India’s surrogacy advertise and is known by its pundits, of which I am one, as a monster “infant production line.” I flew out to Gujarat a year ago to investigate the surrogacy showcase, arriving just days after the Indian government requested richness clinics to stop surrogate-incipient organism exchanges for those without Indian travel papers.
Posing as an infertile lady frantic for an infant, I visited clinics, claiming to have a spouse with an Indian travel permit. The five clinics I visited offered surrogacy, and an agent in every clinic revealed to me business would endure because of the administration mandate. Nobody said my age (I am 54) or made any inquiries about my better half or our family life. No doubt in the realm of planner babies, it is cash that discussions.
The clinics I visited ran from cutting edge buildings in white collar class neighborhoods to decrepit, smudged places with no cooling and just extremely fundamental offices. In every one of the clinics, I paid a conference expense of around 20 pounds and rounded out a shape about my history of infertility. I was informed that to get to surrogacy administrations, I would need to deliver my significant other’s international ID and our marriage testament.
The primary surrogate child was conveyed in India in 1994. Before the ongoing government order was issued, surrogacy had been lawful in India since 2002. Since that year, business surrogacy in the nation has extended enormously and is currently an immense industry.
