Harold Chapman   Allen Ginsberg in the Beat Hotel, Rue Git-Le Coeur Paris,  1956Â
I
In the depths of the Greyhound Terminal sitting dumbly on a baggage truck looking at the sky waiting for the Los Angeles Express to depart worrying about eternity over the Post Office roof in the night-time red downtown heaven staring through my eyeglasses I realized shuddering these thoughts were not eternity, nor the poverty of our lives, irritable baggage clerks, nor the millions of weeping relatives surrounding the buses waving goodbye, nor other millions of the poor rushing around from city to city to see their loved ones, nor an indian dead with fright talking to a huge cop by the Coke machine, nor this trembling old lady with a cane taking the last trip of her life, nor the red-capped cynical porter collecting his quar- ters and smiling over the smashed baggage, nor me looking around at the horrible dream, nor mustached negro Operating Clerk named Spade, dealing out with his marvelous long hand the fate of thousands of express packages, nor fairy Sam in the basement limping from leaden trunk to trunk, nor Joe at the counter with his nervous breakdown smiling cowardly at the customers, nor the grayish-green whale's stomach interior loft where we keep the baggage in hideous racks, hundreds of suitcases full of tragedy rocking back and forth waiting to be opened, nor the baggage that's lost, nor damaged handles, nameplates vanished, busted wires & broken ropes, whole trunks exploding on the concrete floor, nor seabags emptied into the night in the final warehouse.
II
Yet Spade reminded me of Angel, unloading a bus, dressed in blue overalls black face official Angel's work- man cap, pushing with his belly a huge tin horse piled high with black baggage, looking up as he passed the yellow light bulb of the loft and holding high on his arm an iron shepherd's crook.
III
It was the racks, I realized, sitting myself on top of them now as is my wont at lunchtime to rest my tired foot, it was the racks, great wooden shelves and stanchions posts and beams assembled floor to roof jumbled with baggage, --the Japanese white metal postwar trunk gaudily flowered & headed for Fort Bragg, one Mexican green paper package in purple rope adorned with names for Nogales, hundreds of radiators all at once for Eureka, crates of Hawaiian underwear, rolls of posters scattered over the Peninsula, nuts to Sacramento, one human eye for Napa, an aluminum box of human blood for Stockton and a little red package of teeth for Calistoga- it was the racks and these on the racks I saw naked in electric light the night before I quit, the racks were created to hang our possessions, to keep us together, a temporary shift in space, God's only way of building the rickety structure of Time, to hold the bags to send on the roads, to carry our luggage from place to place looking for a bus to ride us back home to Eternity where the heart was left and farewell tears began.
IV
A swarm of baggage sitting by the counter as the trans- continental bus pulls in. The clock registering 12:15 A.M., May 9, 1956, the second hand moving forward, red. Getting ready to load my last bus.-Farewell, Walnut Creek Richmond Vallejo Portland Pacific Highway Fleet-footed Quicksilver, God of transience. One last package sits lone at midnight sticking up out of the Coast rack high as the dusty fluorescent light.
The wage they pay us is too low to live on. Tragedy reduced to numbers. This for the poor shepherds. I am a communist. Farewell ye Greyhound where I suffered so much, hurt my knee and scraped my hand and built my pectoral muscles big as a vagina.
-- Allen Ginsberg, âIn The Baggage Room At Greyhoundâ 1956

via Hardwood Floor Specialist Vallejo,
Long before luxury vinyl flooring appeared on the market and gained popularity, carpeting was considered to be the go-to flooring solution. Today, however, luxury vinyl flooring is surpassing the demand for carpet, and there are many reasons why.
While each flooring option offers its own set of obvious benefits, the comparison between vinyl vs. carpet is surprisingly closer than you might think. Both are available in different formats. For carpet, there are broadloom and carpet tiles and for vinyl, there are tile, plank and resilient sheets. Both have a lot of design versatility. And both are capable of helping you achieve a comfortable aesthetic when applied to almost any interior environment. However, there are certain aspects that set each flooring solution apart from one another. The following will help you decide which flooring solution is best for you and your space.
Look & Style
Both carpet and luxury vinyl allows for unlimited design versatility. Whether you like patterns or favor abstracts, both flooring solutions can help you achieve your desired style. With carpets, you either have lots of color choices, but fewer patterns to choose from, or more pattern options, but fewer color choices due to the dying and tufting technology. On the other hand, the 3D printing technology used in luxury vinyl can easily replicate the natural look of wood or stone thus allowing for virtually unlimited design choices without having to sacrifice color or patterns.
For those that love the feel and look of a woven texture, the use of area rugs on top of luxury vinyl allows for the ease of cleaning and the ability to add textured elements for greater visual effects.
Cleanability & Durability
When it comes to dirt, carpets work more like a filter, allowing dirt and dust to be vacuumed up. However, spills on carpets not only attract more dirt to the area but depending on the dye method used, stains can easily set in. Specifically, with broadloom carpets, moisture can pass through which causes mold to grow below the surface.
Carpet is prone to crushing and matting over time, not to mention the increased visibility of dirt and wear in high-traffic areas. Carpet manufacturers are doing their best to mitigate this problem by creating products like carpet tiles which come with a backing system to allow an end-user to pull up the afflicted areas and either clean or replace them.
Luxury vinyl does not absorb spills as it is a non-porous material that keeps moisture and other harmful substances (or bacteria) from penetrating through like they would in carpet, or other flooring surfaces like concrete or the grout of ceramics. Also, luxury vinyl flooring has a wear layer with a polyurethane topcoat. This layer provides luxury vinyl with a natural resistance to moisture, staining, and scratching. Its overall ease of maintenance from spills to disinfecting is unsurpassed, especially when following a typical two-bucket cleaning system. Thanks to its superior design versatility, luxury vinyl can visually hide traffic lanes and hold up to the foot traffic, whereas a carpet crushes and matts. Overall, luxury vinyl offers peace of mind like no other flooring material can.
Applications
As mentioned earlier, carpet is still very much a popular flooring solution, especially in bedrooms. But now we are seeing a huge shift in favor of luxury vinyl in the residential and commercial space. Other industries that have begun to rely on luxury vinyl flooring include hospitality, healthcare, and retail spaces. Large commercial retailers have begun to install vinyl in their fitting rooms, and some are even using it as the main flooring surface in place of carpet. Pairing luxury vinyl with an accent area rug allows for easy maintenance and durability which is why hotels, large and small, have also begun replacing carpet with luxury vinyl flooring and using area rugs for an accent versus using installed carpet.Â
Sound
Noise is a factor to consider when weighing carpet vs. vinyl flooring. While carpet is ideal for noise reduction, luxury vinyl flooring has similar sound reduction abilities when the right construction is selected, or when an underlayment is applied to the subfloor.
Cost
Cost is comparable when comparing vinyl vs. carpet. The average cost for carpet is $3-7 per square foot, excluding installation. Luxury vinyl can be priced from $2-$7 per square foot including the cost of installation. However, when factoring in long-term maintenance costs of both flooring solutions, the lifetime cost of luxury vinyl flooring is less.
We know that there are many flooring options to choose from and that it can get a bit overwhelming. Hopefully, this carpet vs luxury vinyl flooring overview has been helpful to you make a decision on which way to go. At West Coast Floor Company in Napa and Vallejo, we offer all types of flooring plus expert installation and hope to be able to help you with your flooring needs. Feel free to call us for a design consultation if you are still unsure what is the best solution for your needs.

Baguio is a place of solitude for me. I have invested a lot of myself in here, and memories have already been written. This place made me smile. This place made me love getting lost. And the reason behind these smiles and travelling â is a lot of crying, to be honest.
Ben Cab museum is a bit off the beaten path for Baguio travelers, but easily accessible by renting a cab. The museum is mixture of mediums of the artworks of artist Ben Cabrera. The museum showcased the abstract oil paintings and mixed media artworks of the artist (which to be honest is a feast to the senses). The art gallery showcases the diversity of the Igorot tribes, their ways of life captured in canvas and some silhouettes carved in wood. Triggers onlookers to utilize our grey matter. It was a very refreshing and insightful experience.Â
And of course, one of my favorite galleries -- the erotica gallery. Didnât miss the chance to do the iconic licking of the big, uhm, wall decor. Haha.

Considered as the oldest house in Baguio, Casa Vallejo added more story in our stay. It is a beautiful historical hotel, and it has more character than your usual chain hotel. The rooms are very quaint but adequate and the place feels like a challet with its cabin-like interiors. The beds and linens are super comfy, and big window opens up for night time air. Staying in a wooden cottage nestled amidst a few surviving pine trees evokes a wave of nostalgia and makes you feel detached from the city's now-notorious pollution. You feel you're far away, and yet you're not. You can actually take a leisurely stroll to the city's main mall (SM is literally across the street), get a massage at the nearby North Haven Spa, or walk along the iconic Session Road. It is also in the same area as Cinematheque and Mt. Cloud Book Shop for some books or movies.
The Hill Station restaurant is located right beneath it. The restaurant is rustic, and it has a wonderful old world feel with antique wooden floors, large panoramic windows, chandeliers, and a lovely ornate grand staircase. The food is well prepared and the menu is eclectic. I had a wonderful Tapang Usa (Wild Deer) for breakfast, and the experience is one for the books. This is a great place for some romantic dinner.Â

50's Diner is an American retro diner filled with pop culture memorabilia such as posters of American icons, & its bright pink neon lights. Definitely instgrammable. The whole vibe is reminiscent of diners with servers on skates. Being one of the more popular restaurants, it is usually packed with hungry customers, but luckily we scored a table immediately.
What we did not expect was how big the servings were. Damn I think what we ate was good for four people. It was worth the time waiting for the food, not to mention the good choices on the menu and the good prices. Great food, big portions, affordable prices. No wonder this place is a go-to place of a lot of locals and tourists.

Since we just had a hefty lunch at Glenn's 50's Diner on the Military Cut-Off Road, here at Cafe at the Ruins Dua we decided to have just some coffee. I like how this favorite cafe in Baguio is a hub for art and culture. Cafe Dua is a good place to hang out with friends, enjoy good food, and catch an art show or an occasional poetry reading. The coffee I had was so good. If you are not starving and you only want something light, try their pandesal with cheese and other varieties of baked products.
Pizza Volante is one of the few restaurants one should not miss when in Baguio. This is a home-grown restaurant that is considered as one of the best Italian restaurants. They offer freshly made and delicious pizza and pasta dished that has been known for years among local residents and visiting tourists. Great for people with a big appetite! Just make sure you bring some patience with you as serving time is quite slow. Located along session road, this restaurant has lovely and stylish interiors with their menu written on a board on top of the kitchen window. To feel the cool Baguio air, we opted to seat outside the restaurant which gave us a more relaxing ambience.

After getting our tummies happy, we went to Harrison Road Night Market. Located near Burnham Park and Session Road, the market has been offering clothing items, shoes, souvenir items, electronic devices, handicrafts, and the Baguio staple, the "ukay-ukay" items. There are also food stalls available at both ends of the market. We did not let this rare chance pass us by, so we went shopping and haggled for discounts until our hands canât hold all the things we bought. A thousand bucks was more than what we needed, but can we really get tired of buying? I guess not. Haha. Sleeping at around 3AM, the exhaustion kicked in and a nice, warm shower ended my day.Â
Baguio is something Iâll never get tired of visiting again and again. Itâs my third visit this 2017, and I know this is not yet the last.

Adamant Tijuana, Baja California Sur
Adamant Tijuana, Baja California Sur Residential Building, MĂ©xico Real Estate, Architecture Images
Adamant Tijuana in Baja California Sur
Mar 3, 2021
Adamant Tijuana
Architects: Mayer Hasbani
Location: Baja California Sur, Mexico
Adamant Tijuana is a residential complex located in Baja California, MĂ©xico. The project has 200 apartments of 14 different distributions in 26 levels, parking, public areas for coexistence and luxurious and equipped amenities.
The general volume of the building is made up of the intersection of the terraces and parasols making a kind of textured pigeon house that generates elegant and rhythmic proportions that embrace the complex.
The top of the building crowns the complex with an expressionist and elegant concrete frame that blurs the geometric partition of the building, breaking the rhythm and consolidating the Project as a architectural landmark in the skyline of the city.
The apartment tower is accessed through the motor lobby that represents the transition from the city to the house: it is a game between two scales and sensations, a hard square and a soft one that marks these dualities architecturally.
The sunny conditions of the area were carefully studied in order to use sustainable resources such as brisoleils, which cushion the wild sun in the north of the Mexico.
The proportions of the building walk as the sun walks, so that the inhabitants can ensure the best temperatures and weather conditions without resorting to air conditioning, thanks to the design of parasols and cross ventilation.
Adamant Tijuana mixes luxury, practicality and modernity in the same architectural container. It works to respond to the needs of the inhabitant and at the same time tries to provide it with well-being and a sense of community.

A decade after the housing crash, busted mortgages are back
SĂĄndor Lau, once a filmmaker, found his calling on YouTube when he came across instructional videos about how to buy seemingly worthless home loans.
Mr. Lau, of Portland, Ore., started accumulating mortgages, some of them delinquent for many years, dating back to the housing bubble. He owns more than 100 now, he said, with millions of dollars in payments owed to him. His full-time job is trying to collect.
A decade after the financial crisis, there is a new breed of risk-takers in the U.S. housing market. During the boom before the bust, lenders made mortgage loans to countless buyers who couldnât afford them. Lenders later wrote off many of the loans, but borrowersâ obligation to pay remained. Today, in an improved economy, a rag-tag group of individual investors, plus some Wall Street giants, is buying these old loans and trying to tease value out of them.
The trade goes like this: Buy mortgages available for very low prices because no one has made a payment on them for months or even yearsânonperforming loans, they are called. Track down borrowers and let them know they have a new creditor. Tell them they need to resume payments, at least at a partial level, perhaps offering to modify terms. Threaten foreclosure if necessary. If all goes well, collect on the debt or resell the mortgage as a now âreperformingâ loan.
The process marks a new chapter for hundreds of thousands of crisis-era borrowers who often had heard nothing about their unpaid loans for years and thought the debt had been disposed of. For investors, legal wrangling with such borrowers is common.
The small-time investors, who by some estimates number in the thousands, operate alongside major financial players such as Goldman Sachs Group Inc. and Cerberus Capital Management LP. Individuals find their way into the business through video tutorials, seminars and hotel-room conferences that pitch delinquent-loan investing as a route to stable income.
Mr. Lau said he once lost $46,000 he paid for a second mortgage when the first-mortgage holder foreclosed. But he also once made $70,000 on a loan he had purchased for a dollar.
Get news and analysis on politics, policy, national security and more, delivered right to your inbox
âYou can do incredible returns in this business,â he said, âand you can lose your shirt, pants and everything else if you do it wrong.â He wouldnât say how much he has made, only that he no longer sleeps on the floor of his office.
The investment opportunity exists because as the U.S. economy slowly recovered from the 2008 crisis, government agencies and financial institutions wanted to clean up their books and auctioned off billions of dollars of misbegotten credits.
Today there are nearly 800,000 nonperforming loansâdefined as those delinquent for 90 days or moreâon single-family homes, reflecting $135 billion in unpaid principal, according to loan-data provider Black Knight Inc. âItâs a market that really is the result of the financial crisis,â said Andy Walden, the firmâs director of market research.
Some financial firms buy and sell such loans without making an effort to collect from borrowers. Others use loan servicers to try to get mortgage payments restarted so they can feed the loans back into the Wall Street mortgage securitization machine. Investors pooled and resold over $15 billion of reperforming home loans in residential mortgage-backed securities last year, more than triple a year earlier, according to Fitch Ratings Inc., which tracks only rated deals. The top tranche has often received a sterling triple-A grade from rating firms.
Greg Paulus coordinated loan sales over the past two years as a consultant to Urban Partnership Bank, a Chicago-based lender to low-income communities. He said he received 10 to 15 emails a week inquiring about delinquent loans for sale, sent by investors ranging from small-time buyers wanting just one loan to financial firms with millions to spend.
âEverybody and their brother is getting into the business,â Mr. Paulus said. After speaking at a June conference for investors in Dana Point, Calif., Mr. Paulus was swarmed by people looking to make deals. An after-party featured the CEO of a title company playing a retired pro basketball player in a timed chess match.
Gail Greenberg of suburban Philadelphia embraced the nonperforming-loan trade to build up her retirement savings, which took a hit in 2008. She started in 2016 with a loan in Flint, Mich., she bought for $15,000.
âI only owned it for nine weeks and the house burned down,â Ms. Greenberg said. Thanks to an insurance payout, though, she said she made a profit of $27,000.
Ms. Greenberg took that as a sign she should make loan investing her day job. She now owns 58 mortgage notes, as theyâre often called, totaling more than $2.4 million in unpaid principal.
Paige Panzarello of Simi Valley, Calif., organizes workshops for aspiring investors, charging $697 to attend. In a session at one of her conferences in Costa Mesa, Calif., people role-played conversations with real-estate agents to get comfortable gathering intelligence about local markets.
Ms. Panzarello, who calls herself Cashflow Chick, got into nonperforming loans after nearly two decades in real estate. âFor me, angels sang, honest to God, when I got into this space,â she said.
Part of the agenda at the June conference where Mr. Paulus spoke was a session on tips to keep payments from homeowners coming. Speaker Terry Vaughan suggested bringing in repossession professionals to scare them. âIf you do it right, itâs not illegal,â he told shocked attendees.
Regional meet-up groups, where investors network and share advice, have also sprouted.
Mr. Lau is a regular at such gatherings. He peppers his public remarks with motivational phrases and calls himself âchief inspiration officerâ of his investment shop in Portland, which has two full-time employees.
âThere are no bad loans, only bad prices,â he said.
Mr. Lau grew up in a trailer on a 37-acre plot in eastern Colorado. His mother operated a sewing business out of their home and the family of four slept in one bedroom. Mr. Lau said this modest childhood gave him a nose for bargains.
After cycling through jobs in filmmaking and journalism and living for a while in New Zealand, Mr. Lau bought rental property, but couldnât always profit. Between 2013 and 2015 he often slept in a sleeping bag on his office floor so he could rent out his house on Airbnb. That was when he found his way into nonperforming loans.
On a recent Thursday afternoon, Mr. Lau, 43 years old, hovered over a standing desk staring at a color-coded spreadsheet with data on about 40 delinquent home loans. They were second mortgages, holding a secondary claim on homes after someone elseâs first mortgage.
He scanned information on the homes and the borrowers, including social-media profiles, ages, neighborhood details and property values. Some properties he deemed worthless, such as one in Oregon that had been foreclosed on by another lender. A Florida loan looked promising because the borrower was a man with a LinkedIn profile, a sign he cared about his career.
Mr. Lau and another investor purchased the 40 loans for few hundred thousand dollars, a deep discount to the more than $2 million face value of the notes. It was the largest purchase of his career.
After buying, Mr. Lau and other investors typically contact borrowers to try to make a deal, such as with softened repayment terms. If borrowers wonât come to the table, investors know their strongest leverage is the threat of foreclosure. Mr. Lau keeps a list of the varying state foreclosure laws next to his computer. He said he has initiated dozens of foreclosures, but completed only a handful.
If investors manage to get the flow of loan payments started again, they sit back and collect the cash as steady income. If the homeowner refinances, the loan investors may get what they are owed in a lump sum.
Salem, Ore., homeowner Rebecca Devereaux had been sparring with her lenders for years when she was contacted by Mr. Lau in 2016. Ms. Devereaux was trying to sell her home for less than the total she owed on her two mortgagesâa short sale that requires both lendersâ consent. She had been unable to get approval from the holder of her $69,000 second mortgage.
After Mr. Lau bought that loan in 2016âhe wouldnât say for how muchâhe quickly approved a sale of her house for less than the amount Ms. Devereaux owed. He said he made money on the deal. And although her credit took a hit, Ms. Devereaux was happy to be rid of her wrangles with banks.
âI could have closure and move forward,â she said.
Michael Cortez, a homeowner in Vallejo, Calif., didnât take Mr. Lau seriously at first. He thought he was being scammed when he unexpectedly received a mailing in December 2016 from a representative of Mr. Lauâs business.
âCall Us! Write Us! Email Us!â the notice read. âWE WANT YOU TO BE ABLE TO KEEP YOUR HOME!â
Mr. Lau was seeking to collect on a $190,000 home-equity loan Mr. Cortez and his wife took out in 2005 amid the housing boom. After Mr. Cortez ignored the mailing, Mr. Lau followed up with a voice mail in February 2017. âYou make good money and you obviously have a good job, so call me,â Mr. Lau said, according to Mr. Cortez, who is a civil engineer.
Mr. Lau declined to comment on the exchange, citing privacy laws.
Mr. Cortez called Mr. Lau back and told him not to make contact again. He believed the home-equity loan on his five-bedroom house had been forgiven in 2011 after his lender, PNC Financial Services Group Inc., agreed to modify his primary mortgage. PNC stopped sending him monthly billing statements and repeatedly told him his loan had been closed, he said.
A spokeswoman for PNC said the bank books a loss on loans it deems uncollectible and stops billing borrowers, but this doesnât change their obligation to repay. She declined to say how the policy affected Mr. Cortez, citing privacy restrictions.
Records from mortgage tracker ATTOM Data Solutions show that PNC sold Mr. Cortezâs debt to a Philadelphia-area note investor, who in turn sold it to Mr. Lauâs firm.
In June 2017, Mr. Cortez received a letter saying Mr. Lauâs representative would sell his home âAT PUBLIC AUCTION TO THE HIGHEST BIDDER.â
In an effort to prevent the foreclosure sale, Mr. Cortez filed for bankruptcy, at one point listing Mr. Lauâs firm as a creditor. The case was dismissed, and foreclosure proceedings resumed.
In June 2018, Mr. Cortez filed suit in California state court accusing Mr. Lauâs company, called Second Chance Home Loans LLC, of unlawful business practices.
âI donât need a second chance,â Mr. Cortez said in an August interview. âThis should never have happened.â
Messrs. Lau and Cortez reached a settlement in September. Mr. Cortez said he agreed to pay $260,000 and has tapped his retirement savings to help pay it. Mr. Lau wouldnât comment on the figure.

How often do you think about him?Â
AvĂŽ
Earlier that day that sun was shining on AvĂłs garden. The backyard where we grew up. A small paradise. Where everything grew. Purple and green grapes that hung over the backyard, the sun shining through creating cool leaf patterns on the ground. The old apricot tree, lemons, oranges, figs, the patch of dirt with collards, onion, favas, yams. Passion fruit crept on vines on the side of the house.Â
I looked through her photo album on the couch with Adriano. He kept saying is that you whenever there was a photo of my uncle. There was AvĂŽ, a cigarette in his hand standing on the front lawn. Another of him sitting at a table, wine and plates of food on the table. A plastic map of the Açores covering the table.Â
We were driving up into those hills. Right past the Jack in the Box and the cows. The hills were so green, the sky blue. They were perfect for eachother. A beautiful spring day. Pai told me AvĂŽ loved to dance. And act in plays too. He always played the funny guy, the clown in the story.Â
My only memory of him is tickling me and Eva on the couch. Begging him to stop. Laughing and crying at the same time. I asked Pai more questions about him, how it was to immigrate here.Â
We lived on a dairy farm, outside of Sac in Elverta. By the Arco Arena. Our aunt was already here and she set us up with the work. Back then you had to show proof of employment to come here. Had to show that you were gona work. Theres always work for those willing. Like waking up at 5 and milking the cows everyday. AvĂŽ worked and me and Adelino went to school. Every morning we walked out to the paved road for the bus to take us to school. AvĂŽ didnt make much but we got free milk and half a steer a year. We came here with nothing.
The roller coasters twisted up into the sky. Colorful rides that made you think of being a kid. Six Flags and Vallejo. Behind that the Bay.Â
After two years they saved enough to move into an apartment on P Street. By Southside Park. They lived on the basement floor. Weâve driven past it before, Pai pointing it out. Its cool seeing your parents old homes. Where they grew up. Another life that you know nothing about. After they moved AvĂŽ found work in a lumber mill. Setzer Mill, its still there. He worked there for the rest of his life. Maria Noemia got a job working at a laundromat. One of the industrial ones with huge washers and dryers, vats of chemicals. Where they wash uniforms and hotel bedsheets and towels. She always turned out the pockets before she put them in the washer, looking for change. I wonder if she ever came up.
We got off the freeway in Richmond. It was sunny and warm. It was the middle of the day, everyone movin slow. Not starting or finishing nothin. Like your on the clock. We pulled up to the Bart station and said bye. My bags heavy with food that AvĂł made for me. 2 loaves of bread she baked that morning, a plate of queso fresco, chicken liver with egg, and a pork dish. Thanks for the ride. Love you.
The train pulled up quick. I watched out the window as Pai drove away. Headed to the bridge past San Quentin, up into Sonoma. The train took off going through Richmond. Through car shops, school yards, a homeless camp, familiar backyards, rusted bikes and car parts growing in the grass. An old man watching the train go by from his porch. People get on people get off. A young family, laced in Warriors gear. I got off at 16th and Mission. Its like a plaza, a square with a fountain, where birds sing in the trees and everyone sits around or taking a nap. It was quiet. And hot. Damn it must have been the hottest day of the year. Fools walkin around without shirts, girls in dresses and sandals. When I took the 22 to work the whole bus was sweating. White tank tops silver chains and gold teeth. Sac to the Bay. And everything in between. All the stories in between.Â

48cm:Urban Arrow cargo bikes stolen on way to CABDA West

VALLEJO, Calif. (BRAIN) â Thieves stole the contents of a rental cargo van including two cargo bikes and materials on the way to the CABDA West show this weekend.
Ed Rae, the North American agent for Urban Arrow, said the trailer was broken into in a hotel parking lot in Vallejo, California. He said it appears an attempt was made to steal the van; when that failed, all the contents were taken. They are valued at about $15,000.
One of the cargo bikes stolen is the Cargo L models, the only one of its type in North America. The other bike is a Family model, one of only a handful in the San Francisco Bay Area. They are Bosch-equipped bikes that retail for $6,000 each. Also stolen were some parts & accessories, booth backdrops, roller banners, flags and similar items.
Frame numbers: Cargo L UAMM170930 Family UAMM170599
Both stolen bikes have white frames.Â
Rae said the vehicle used in the theft was an older model white-ish Chevrolet pickup with a camper top. A police report was filed with Vallejo police.Â
"These bikes are utterly distinctive and not typical stolen bikes so thieves will have a hard time moving them," Rae said. "Please be on the lookout, either in shops or online."
Rae can be reached at 503-703-7626.

The Cargo L that was stolen has a white frame.

so iâm reading this book called catapult about a guy building a catapult in the 90s and heâs from san francisco and that plus guzma on my mind is just reminding me of when i was in san francisco in september 2017...... one of the happiest days of my life honestly. iâve been to san francisco a handful of times but all but this one time i was with family and had to stick with my family and we had a set agenda. but this specific time i was just with my mom and my aunt and we didnât really have an agenda, my aunt just wanted to show me around wherever i wanted to wander to. this was different than the previous time the year before when my uncle drove us three around because this time we took the ferry from vallejo and so we could only get by on foot. i havenât been on ferries very much so i just really liked the boat ride over. and this was in the fall of 2017 before ultra sun/moon came out so i was still riding the high of my love for sun/moon. you know that cutscene in the beginning when youâre riding the ferry with hau? yeah thatâs what i thought about on the way to san francisco
at some point i think we wandered into a hotel in union square (or the building where the cheesecake factory is, i donât remember haha we went to a number of buildings there at that point) and there were fake guzmania flowers in the fake planting on the walls and ohhhh my god i almost lost it. iâd never seen one in real life before until then? even if it was probably fake i was still shocked. i had my guzma keychain on my bag at that exact moment and everything. my mom was like, oh you like this flower? and i rambled about how itâs called a guzmania and itâs like one of my favorite flowers and itâs related to pineapples so thatâs why it looks like the top of a pineapple and blah blah blah. (two years later after iâd moved out my mom bought a new house plant... and it was a guzmania haha. she let me name it so i named it malie)
any time we visit california it isnât for very long so i havenât really been able to just stay and explore san francisco at all. but i do love going back. i wanna go back
#the last time i was there was last september!#my cousin got married at the palace of fine arts#and also at the san francisco mint#there were two wedding because asian weddings haha#it was EPIC and one of the best weekends of my life
