rewatching old eps of top five beatdown, oh boy ryan and shane flirting is off the charts...
no you're so right... the little glances and the digs at each other's lists and the things they point out specifically to get a rise out of each other. especially when they were able to be in person again after the zoom season it was Unavoidable.
#i can't believe i missed this... .so sorry#i wonder what this upcoming season will be like w steven in some eps instead of shane...#💌#shyan#anon

Ooooooooo
Okay
My top 5 favorite episodes would have to be;
The Shredder Strikes Back Parts One and Two ( Season 1 Episodes 17-18 ) Nothing really tops how good this show was in the first season, and these episodes take the comic storyline of Leo’s beatdown and bring it to life masterfully. For Leo’s segments of part one it’s spent mostly with no dialogue, the animation and music carrying how serious the scene is as Leo has to fight for his life against the Foot and how desperate he becomes as he grows weaker and weaker. The second episode is non-stop action as the rest of the turtles, Splinter, April and Casey have to fend off the Foot and Shredder as they fight for their lives in the antique shop. This is one of Michael Sinterniklass’s BEST performances as Leo in these episodes. The stakes are higher than ever before, the animation is gorgeous, and everyone gives it their all for this epic mid-season finale.
Same As It Never Was ( Season 3 Ep. 21 ) This is the episode I would tell people to watch if they think TMNT is just kiddie trash.
Bad Blood ( Season 6 Ep. 12 ) Probably the Fast Forward concept I wish got expanded on instead of giving it two standalone stories and dropping it entirely. It’s a cool concept that I wish got touched upon more often because, yeah, what would evil clones of the turtles look like? What kind of abilities could they have? There’s infinite possibilities with that idea! I could live without the new catchphrase ‘It's Ninja Time’ though.
Insane in the Membrane ( Season 4 Ep. 19 ) The infamously banned episode, and all I have to say about it is two words. Holy. Shit.
The Real World Part One ( Season 3 Ep. 22 ) Any team-up with Usagi Yojimbo is a good one, and this was such a fun one! It’s loosely based on one of the Usagi stories from the comics, and I loved how badass they made both Usagi and Tomoe! Leo and Usagi have great chemistry as always, and you can tell they have a strong bond with one another as warriors!
As for my five worst? Uuuuuuuuh I can’t think of five, so here’s three;
The Unconvincing Turtle Titan ( Season 1 Ep. 12 ) I’m not a very big fan of 03 Mikey for a lot of reasons, but his overall character is all over the place in terms of his personality and arc. This episode demonstrates how grating he became for me as I continue watching this series. He constantly throws himself into the action when he’s clearly outmatched and doesn’t have the skill/ abilities to keep up with his hero. I just don’t like how he recklessly acts out without properly thinking it through.
Playtime’s Over ( Season 6 Ep. 5 ) Yet another instant of Mikey acting like a brat over a video game and getting into trouble. I’m sorry really sorry to 03 Mikey fans but I just don’t like him 😅
Junklantis ( Season 2 Ep. 17 ) Out of all the episodes, I think I hate this the most. I hate the Garbageman as an antagonist, he’s so gross and oafish, and I wish they hadn’t brought him back in this one. He’s always been one of my least favorite TMNT villains, so it’s a no brainer as to why his episode landed here.
That’s all I can think of currently! 😂

I’m Curious
I had a thought just now and felt I needed to ask it. So here’s what I want to know from the 2k3 fanbase;
What are the 5 best, worst, weirdest episodes of this show?
I have a general idea what a few of the best episodes are, but I want to see what the general opinion is for the worst or oddest episodes.
Does the fan base consider arcs as a whole episode, or would a stand out episode of said arc fit better. What about the latter season compared to the first four? How do most people think of Turtles Forever, good, bad, could have been better?
I’m genuinely curious
Respond to this post if you’d like. I’d love to see everyone’s favs and least favs.

Watcher Viewcounts - First Year Round-Up
Welcome, one and all, to the one year anniversary of Watcher’s YouTube launch! It was a year ago this very week that I started recording every episode’s weekly views. It’s been a fun and interesting journey! I am also delighted that so many of you are interested in these updates and I appreciate all of the likes and reblogs so much.
Since it’s the anniversary week, this will be a big update, so let’s go behind a cut.
As of today, January 11, 2021, the top 10 highest viewed videos on Watcher are:
Top Five Fast Food Chains - 2.139 million views / debuted Feb 6, 2020
Puppet History: Stealing the World’s Most Expensive Necklace - 1.98 million views / debuted Feb 27, 2020
Puppet History: The Dancing Plague - 1.971 million views / debuted May 22, 2020
Puppet History: Life During the Black Plague - 1.932 million views / debuted January 10, 2020
Puppet History: History’s Luckiest Woman - 1.695 million views / debuted April 10, 2020
Too Many Spirits season 1, ep 1 - 1.541 million views / debuted October 8, 2020
Tourist Trapped: LA - 1.474 million views / debuted February 21, 2020
Are You Scared? Voice in the Walls - 1.451 million views / debuted June 19, 2020
Too Many Spirits season 1, ep 2 - 1.311 million views / debuted October 15, 2020
Puppet History - The Donner Party - 1.211 million views / debuted October 2, 2020
Since Watcher likes to do pilot episodes/seasons for their shows, I thought I’d compare the pilot episodes for every show the weekend they debuted vs where they are now.
Puppet History: Life During the Black Plague.
Opening weekend: 188k views
As of today: 1.932 million
Watcher Weekly 001
Opening Weekend: 148k
As of today: 384k
Spooky Small Talk with Zach Kornfeld
Opening weekend: 157k

Weird and/or Wonderful World: Mystic Museum

Top 5 Beatdown: Fast Food Chains

As of today: 2.139 million
Grocery Run: Philip Wang
Opening weekend: 70k

Tourist Trapped: LA

Are You Scared? Voice in the Walls
Opening weekend: 367k
As of today: 1.451 million
Too Many Spirits
Opening weekend: 598k
As of today: 1.541 million
Dish Granted: Mac & Cheese for Shane
Opening weekend/today: 266k
This is all to say that Dish Granted had a very good opening weekend for one of their pilots and I’m so happy because it’s such a good show! Also fun fact, Dish Granted gave a small boost to all the existing Homemade episodes. Go Steven!
Next, I wanted to do was see the average amount of views for each series. Here they are:
Are You Scared? averaged 1.261 million views over 8 episodes
Grocery Run averaged 107k views over 4 episodes
Homemade averaged 478k views over 4 episodes.
Puppet History averaged 1.27 million views over 13 episodes.
SD&D&D averaged 141k views over 8 episodes
Spooky Small Talk averaged 444k views over 4 episodes (a big gap between most views/least views here)
Too Many Spirits averaged 978k views over 8 episodes
Top 5 Beatdown’s average is 947k views over 4 episodes, but there are almost 2 million more views from it’s most viewed ep from it’s least, so...I don’t think it’s statistically sound. Obviously, the solution here is more episodes!
Watcher Weekly averaged 191k views over 40 episodes
Weird and/or Wonderful World averaged 635k views over 9 episodes
I also looked at video “likes” versus views. I did a quick scan so it possible I missed one, but it looks like the very first Puppet History has the most likes, at 114k thumbs up. The more popular videos tend to have more likes, of course, but Puppet History in general does very well there. (meanwhile, Top 5 Fast Food has 67k likes, about 20k less than the average PH ep)
Overall, Watcher has garnered 60,328,034 views over the past year! That’s an average of 533k per video (of 113 videos). I know their launch year wasn’t what they expected, but I think they made adjustments to their productions very well and were still able to produce high-quality and fun shows. I’ll be interested to see if they stick to one-video-a-week beyond January, or if they have plans for a new Wednesday show. I don’t think Watcher Weekly will return until they can film it safely in person, so I don’t see that coming back for awhile (if it does). And while I’d always love to see more TMS, I can see them maybe not wanting to push too many out at once and save it for the spooky season again. The one thing that we know best about the Watcher team is that they love to surprise us and are pretty good at keeping secrets, so I’m sure there will be a delightful surprise coming sooner or later.
As always, my inbox is open if anyone wants to know anything specific or has any questions/comments! Thank you for reading!

Top 10 Releases of 2017
1. Incendiary - Thousand Mile Stare
Incendiary kept us waiting for this album for four years and it was well worth the wait. When a band releases and album as good as “Cost of Living”, it’s hard for them to top it. A lot of the time bands tend to disappoint after a release that solid. But Incendiary really delivered on “Thousand Mile Stare”. It’s one of those rare albums that I enjoy every minute of and you probably will too. It has that same sound we’ve all grown to know and love while showcasing a lot of growth as a band as well.
2. Sabella - Dog Daze
Up and coming band Sabella made their debut appearance this year. This album harnesses the potential that Sabella has to become the newest addition to a long list of NYHC heavyweights. Altogether, this album is one of the most unique releases to have come out this year. There’s a lot of different things going on and it really has a little bit of something for everyone. If you’re into more melodic music, they have that. If you’re into super aggressive heavy shit, they have that too.
3. Lorna Shore - Flesh Coffin
This year Lorna Shore proved that they’re truly developing as musicians for the better. With “Flesh Coffin” they showed us that they’re not the same band they were when they released their debut EP in 2013. They really honed in on the blackened deathcore style they’ve been experimenting with, putting them up there with the likes of Carnifex. Lorna Shore makes the lyricism a forefront on this album, which is part of what makes it such a solid release. The lyrics are almost poetic in a sense; filled with emotion and meaning.
4. The Acacia Strain - Gravebloom
The Acacia Strain is just one of those bands that has never put out a bad album. They get better and better as the years go on, but this year they did some things they haven’t done before. On “Gravebloom” The Acacia Strain did some experimenting with different styles like doom metal which payed off. This album gives off a different vibe than anything they’ve ever done before. It’s different than their previous work in some aspects and similar in others. It shows that they can still progress as a band even though they’ve been around for a while.
5. The Front Bottoms - Going Grey
On their sixth album “Going Grey”, The Front Bottoms are almost a completely different band than they were five years ago. The alt-rock/indie band experimented with a more electronic sound on this album. Altogether the album is much cleaner than anything they’ve done before. It’s not all over the place like what they usually do, which can be good or bad depending on how much you like their old style. To me it seems like The Front Bottoms are trying to create a more mainstream sound, but they’re still staying unique to themselves.
6. Varials - Pain Again
This year Varials proved that metalcore is still alive on their debut album “Pain Again”. The lyricism in this album makes it the most relatable release of this year. Altogether the album seems to be about depression, a topic that is rarely tackled in hardcore. Varials captures the dark and cruel realities of life; channeling feelings like pain, betrayal, loneliness, and anger. “Pain Again” has the aggressiveness of hardcore paired with beatdown that will challenge everything you’ve previously thought about metalcore.
7. Code Orange - Forever
Code Orange is another one of those bands that could have potentially struggled to top their previous release. The Grammy nominated Code Orange proved themselves on this record as a serious band and not just some immature kids (no pun intended). Despite the negative feedback over the years they’ve kept doing what they do best, and that’s breaking the rules to make great music. They’ve never been one to follow the standards of hardcore. They took that unconventionality to the next level on “Forever” making it their most unique release yet.
8. Xibalba - Diablo, Con Amor, Adios
At only 11 minutes long, Xibalba manages to pack a punch in such a short time on “Diablo, Con Amor, Adios”. As they always do, Xibalba discusses the issue of oppression by painting a picture of what it feels like to be the oppressed. It’s dark, it’s angering, and that’s exactly what this EP is. All of Xibalba’s music has really intense imagery in the lyricism paired with extremely heavy instrumentals. They didn’t disappoint with this release, incorporating elements of doom, sludge, and death metal to bring a refreshing twist to hardcore.
9. Bodysnatcher - Death of Me
Some would say that this album isn’t unique in the sense that it features the same techniques that have been used for years. In reality this kind of “generic deathcore” is hard to find these days. Bands aren’t really doing the whole downtempo beatdown thing anymore because, like their listeners, they feel it’s played out. However, there are still those of us who will always love that generic bludgeoning that is downtempo. So if you’re one of those people, this album is for you.
10. Falsifier - World Demise
Among the many bands that made their debut full-length appearance this year is Canada’s own Falsifier. “World Demise” is another example of the distinct sound that Falsifier has made. Since they’re a fairly new band, it is clear that they still have a lot of growing to do. As a whole, the album might seem a bit sloppy but it shows the potential they have as a band. For their first full-length release they did a good job and will hopefully work their way up from here.
