How many works do you have on AO3?
29. seems like a lot, where does the time go?
2. What's your total AO3 word count?
630,542 where??? time??? go??????
3. What fandoms do you write for?
lessee we got ur ducktales, ur gundam with from mercury, night in the woods, amphibia, outer wilds, xcom and deltarune. man i really forgot about that single xcom fic i wrote. i really did intend to write something in that fandom. i still might maybe idk
4. Top five fics by kudos?
There Will Be No Dancing i've always been really happy with this one. i feel like I really caught the energy of the characters. i'm glad people seemed to catch that energy y'know
Hypothesis i wrote this almost immediately after deltarune came out i think it was like the 2nd one with that pairing and i always kind of felt like it got kudos mostly cuz it was so early. i mean it's not bad but idk, i think it just got out the door early and that's why it got attention. my favorite part is the bit with berdly
Under the Shadow of the Snack Falcon the first fic i posted when i started writing fanfic again after, like, over 20 years. i'm glad it's in the mix
Orbits imo this is my most, like, technically accomplished fic. in terms of structure and theme and that. there's another outer wilds fic i wanna write. been sitting on it for a while. hope i get to it someday!
Rite of Spring my night in the woods magnum opus (that i completed, sorry glass factory). i named it after the stravinsky ballet. i felt like it was thematic, idk. i really had fun writing for lori
5. Do you respond to comments?
i try to. i mean people make a stink about comments being important so i try to reply to the ones i get, even if it's something innocuous like 'thx for reading!'
some fics i don't respond at all and it's usually cuz of any number of badbrain circumstances i am under at the moment. always feel a lil bad about that. not enough to make a stink of it, bad in the sense that you see a banana that you left out too long and now it's all brown and mushy. that kind of bad
well, all any of us can do is try
6. What is the fic you wrote with the angstiest ending?
the view from mars, i suppose? or maybe it's monument. or quests! i kind of liked quests.
view from mars is kind of a bog standard teen crush melodrama, but i liked writing the girls from amphibia so i thought i'd give it a try. would like to do another amphibia story someday.
monument is an outer wilds fic, so everyone dies (spoilers i guess) and it's about, like, your work outliving your life and then even your work eventually disappears and then what's left? and maybe asking what's left isn't even the right question. you know. existential stuff. play outer wilds
quests is me indulging myself cuz i have a thing for pairings where one half is gonna have to take care of the other half and like, is lena really up for that and what happens when she gets in over her head cuz webby gets in over her head. idk i'm too much of a sap to take this to its angstiest conclusion and it gets resolved p quickly which might make it seem a little pat but the story did what i set out for it to do so i'm cool with it
7. What's the fic you wrote with the happiest ending?
there will be no dancing, probably. it's got a pretty sweet ending. just don't read the stories in the rest of the series. it's fine it's cool
8. Do you get hate on fics?
not that i've seen. i did see a comment where someone was asking a leading question like they wanted to get into some Discourse but i just ignored it and nothing came of it and we all lived our lives
9. Do you write smut?
ya when the notion strikes. if we're examining the ways characters interact with each other sex is one of those ways and it'd be weird to exclude it over all the other imo
10. Craziest crossover?
i never actually tagged this is how we grow as a crossover huh. but @big-meows was the one to initially conceive of a stardew/ducktales crossover so i ain't taking credit. i guess the only other option is red brithright, my current wip: star wars and witch from mercury
it's not really a crazy crossover tho. they're both sci fi franchises that started in the 70s and prominently feature protagonists with complicated relationships with their parents and have laser swords. kind of an obvious crossover
11. Have you ever had a fic stolen?
not that i know of. it's hard to know if i'd care even if someone did. i guess i'd be miffed if someone were making money off of it somehow
12. Have you ever had a fic translated?
i have had requests, never saw if they actually did it but i always said yes
13. Have you ever co-written a fic before?
i've had some beta-ing but idk if i'll ever co-write. i've got a pretty light presence in fandoms so i doubt i'll get involved in anything more collaborative then, like, prompt weeks
14. All time favourite ship?
idk man i mean i wouldn't devote days of writing to any ship unless they were my all time fave to some degree. weblena's always gonna have a place, sulemio is the new hotness but i think there's something enduring in it. i'll always have a soft spot for barrisoka
15. What's a WIP you want to finish but doubt you ever will?
i like to think i'll finish all wips eventually. yes i know that's dumb but i still like to think it
16. What are your writing strengths?
idk i like to think i'm p okay at juggling an ensemble. like when there's a lot of characters and giving them all a little moment to characterize themselves. even if it's just a single line. i hope that comes across. and i love to have a sense of place, like an environment that feels authentic. i love a good place and want others to feel like they can see it. who knows if that works
17. What are your writing weaknesses?
i think i tend to get bogged down in details to the point where i have to step back and ask myself if i've lost the thread of the story. like i'll get preoccupied with how characters get from point a to point b when that shit don't matter
18. Thoughts on dialogue in another language?
don't think i've ever done
19. First fandom you wrote in?
starcraft. used to be part of a writing group that did varying degrees of starcraft. all ancient history by now
20. Favourite fic you've written?
hm. probably there will be no dancing. like yeah again i feel like i was pretty on for that one. punchy and funny and written deep in the perspective of the pov character. i really do wish i could keep that kind of writing for long projects! but alas
if you see this feel free to do your own!

Missy, what have you been doing the past year or so?? I am pleased to tell you that I am doing card art for a game called the 4 Clans! I am super excited about this, and I believe I have done art for 50+ cards and counting! I am also working on my own monster deck, which will feature my OC Big Boss and other critters like him! That one will be more slow going , since I am working on the side. Above is featured some of my cards approved and waiting to be printed! These are just a few of some of my faves! But the Arachnokraken has a special place in my heart, as well as the robot! Some of them will feature some of my dnd characters as well as my friends, along with a reoccurring group of unfortunate knights. You can get a peek of one up top with Weird Webby! Also been working on commissions, getting stickers printed up to be ready for cons when they start back up, and have been doing logo work! One for a butterscotch moonshine brewery! Just wanted to share a lil bit of the cards since I got 50+ that I haven’t got to show you guys. I will let you know when they appear in public!

AO3 Tag Game Tagged by @big-meows
1. How many works do you have on AO3?
77 apparently
2. What is your total AO3 word count?
lol uhh 480,579. ofc this does not include all my missing teen titans fics i wrote when i was 10 and deleted as an ashamed 14 year old
3. How many fandoms have you written for and what are they?
DuckTales, FMA, Generator Rex, Teen Titans, Pokemon, Total Drama. There's a lot of others but I'm gonna stick with those
4. What are your top 5 fics by kudos?
Not Your Aunt (ducks) - 351
feathers & treasure (duck) - 349
Just Between the Two of Us (teen titans) - 344
Avoid the Unhappy Ending (ducks) - 307
heartbeat (trollhunters) - 237
5. Do you respond to comments, why or why not?
if it’s for a fic i’m actively working on i try to, i don’t usually respond to comments on ancient fics esp when they’re all “when are you gonna update this” well buddy its been 11 years so itll be at least another 2
6. What’s the fic you’ve written with the angstiest ending?
hmmmm. is it bad to say i usually don’t write fics that have endings? lol uhhh ok i looked through them all and i’ve got nothing. i don’t like angsty endings anyway, but two of my in-progress-for-ten-years pokemon fics were cut off at very angsty spots so that counts, right?
7. Do you write crossovers?
i have but it’s not my usual schtick. i think i wrote a fic with karai from TMNT2012 and rose from american dragon: jake long
8. Have you ever received hate on a fic?
lol currently i’m getting pretty regular homophobic comments on some webby/lena stuff. all from the same guy who is clearly going through every chapter
9. Do you write smut? If so, what kind?
i have but i prefer not to! not because i dont love porn but i just dont find it fun to write in detail.
10. Have you ever had a fic stolen?
hmmmmmmm doubtful but how would i even know
11. Have you ever co-written a fic before?
talked about it but never done it. i think it would be a little confusing. maybe i’m too much of a control freak
12. What’s your all time favorite ship?
impossible question! right now it’s still scrooge/goldie from ducktales. but roy/riza and six/holiday and jessie/james have very intense holds on my heart. i love a lot of ships forever but i think i’ve put more actual real money into scrooge/goldie stuff than any other ship ive been obsessed with
13. What was the first fandom you wrote for?
i did collaborative ash/misty fic stuff on serebii.net when i was 6 or 7, so technically pokemon. but prior to that i wrote and drew powerpuff girls comics, so could also be that! the first stuff i published on my own was teen titans fics
14. What’s your favorite fic you’ve written?
favorite, favorite...i really like Avoid the Unhappy Ending it was a lot of fun to write
i tag every single person who reads this who has an ao3 account and whose name begins with R

Thank you so much for tagging me @snarky-wallflower and @weltato! I’ll try my best to answer these questions because I am literally obsessed with writing fanfics and discussing the process is amazing:
1 - How many works do you have on AO3?
I currently have 26 works published and loads of half finished works on my Notes app waiting for the momentous day where they’re completed and released into the wild.
2 - What’s your total word count?
I just checked AO3 and my total word count currently rests at 45,641 words, which is… insane. Listen, I didn’t even know that I wrote that much, but I guess that just goes to show how much you can write when an idea takes over your brain and won’t let go until it’s became a published story or poem.
3 - What fandoms?
Chucky (mostly on Tumblr and Wattpad), Good Omens (my Ineffable babies deserve happiness), Hatchetfield (of course, that’s my main focus and my one true love), and one original work that’s a sort of eldritch horror story.
4 - Top five fics by kudos?
Gotta Get Back To School (470 kudos) - my longest fic on AO3 which has taken off in a way I absolutely didn’t expect
Brothers (224 kudos) - Hatchetfield sibling angst focussed on the Spankoffski bros with my trademark LiB cameo at the end
The Godchildren (110 kudos) - an au I really should continue
Unexpected Help (102 kudos) - Spankoffski bros angst where people die and nothing is good
The Lords in Black and Webby being a ‘functional’ family (100 kudos) - pure crack, I love it
5 - Do you respond to comments?
Always, no matter what. I am so grateful to every single one of my readers, and if you leave a comment I’ll reply as soon as I see it (I check my inbox every morning to ensure I don’t miss anything).
6 - What’s the fic you wrote with the angstiest ending?
Probably If I Loved You or Unexpected Help, maybe Ted’s Alternate Apotheosis or Metamorphosis (anything involving the Spankoffskis suffering basically).
7 - What’s the fic you wrote with the happiest ending?
Hands down, Gotta Get Back To School, it’s fluffy and hopeful and contains a chance at sibling bonding for Webby and the LiB, the happiest ending I could possibly write for that au.
8 - Do you get hate on fics?
I have been blessed with the most wonderful readers who never say anything cruel or untoward about my writing, and for that I’m very thankful.
9 - Do you write smut?
I gave it a shot a few days ago for the first time, but I’m very inexperienced. The characters got into bed… and I stopped. I don’t know how to write smut; I might find it easier in the future but for now I prefer crack and angst - it’s the writing styles that make me feel comfortable.
10 - *the wind whistles, for there is no 10th question to be found*
11 - Have you ever had a fic stolen?
Luckily, no. I once saw a fic with a similar concept to mine but I’m convinced it’s sheer coincidence, that’s the closest it’s ever gotten for me and that was very far from ‘stealing’.
12 - Have you ever had a fic translated?
I haven’t been granted that honour yet, but if someone wishes to translate any of my fics I’d be over the moon about it, feel free.
13 - Have you ever co-written a fic before?
As a matter of fact, I’m in the midst of writing two co-written fics: a Chucky ancient kingdom au with my amazing mutual @fanficwriter284 and a Hatchetfield au based on a play that @feathertru and I were in together this summer.
14 - What’s your all-time favourite ship?
I’m tempted to say Paulkins because their romance is so beautiful in every timeline, and I’m even more tempted to say Ineffable Husbands because the end of Good Omens Season 2 broke me (just let them be happy, @neil-gaiman) but my heart will forever belong to Lautski. Young love is a favourite trope of mine, and they’re so happy together; it warms my heart to write about them and see them interacting in canon.
15 - What’s a WIP you want to finish but doubt you will?
Five Questions. I liked the concept and actually uploaded two chapters to AO3 but I’ve written so many fics like it and I’ve sadly lost motivation to continue that one.
16 - What are your writing strengths?
I’d have to say angst, countless fandom references and seamlessly incorporating the Lords in Black and or Webby into almost every fic I write.
17 - What are your writing weaknesses?
Planning. I write all of my fics in one go with only vague plot outlines. Gotta Get Back To School didn’t have a proper plot until around Chapter Four.
18 - Thoughts on writing dialogue in another language?
I’m only fluent in English, but for one fic I used some Latin (Google Translated of course) just for realism (it was a god reciting a spell).
19 - First fandom you wrote for?
Chucky. I’d been posting Chucky fics here on Tumblr for about a year before I made the switch to Hatchetfield.
20 - Top three fics I’ve ever written?
Gotta Get Back To School - I am so proud of this fic and all the love it’s received, thank you for welcoming my High School story with such great enthusiasm and open arms - every time I nearly gave up, I was spurred on by bookmarks, comments and kudos reminding me who it was all for.
If I Loved You - my first ever angst fic on AO3 which reminded me how much I love writing angst, also very well received which I’m so thrilled about.
Pandora’s Descent - an original story I wrote about a very curious little girl whose questioning gets her in a spot of trouble. I’d love for all of you to check it out; it currently has 7 hits and I’m ever so proud of it.

20 Questions for Fic Writers
@snarky-wallflower Thanks for the tag! This was a lot of fun :)
1. How many works do you have on AO3?
67 currently, but I have deleted a few old ones lol
2. What’s your total word count?
Now, when I tell you I went overboard on this question, I went overboard. My private, unposted, solely-written-by-me fics' total word count is 227,868. My total word count for fics I've collaborated with @charismabee on is 477,549, and my total word count on AO3 is 389,530. However, quite a few of my AO3 fics are collabs with Red, so if you take away everything like Wilting Flowers and Owl House but Kindergarten, you're left with 225,235 words written solely by me. So, if you total up 225,235 + 227,868 + 477,549, then you get a grand total of 930,652 words! Then, of course, there's the whole matter of my old fics on regular Word and not Docs, which would probably add up to at least another 50,000 total considering we're talking about my ASOUE and DT17 phases, as well as all of the private Viva Pinata and miscellaneous musical stuff lurking in there, and we've got that weird writing app on my tablet that I used a lot a couple of years ago whenever my phone got confiscated, but I cannot be bothered to search through all of that right now. So, it mostly rounds up to around 1,000,000 words. Fanfiction may or may not be taking over my life. (Gosh I love maths <3)
3. What fandoms?
I've written mostly for the Kindergarten 1 and 2 fandom, my total fics on AO3 for it totaling 38. However, I have written a heck of a lot of OMORI as well, and dabble in the Owl House, DHMIS, a few webseries on YT as well as the Hatchetverse sometimes, too!
4. Top 5 fics by kudos
1. World's Okayest Uncle at 799. My latest WIP, written for the Hatchetfield Universe and based around the concept of Paul Matthews becoming the accidental uncle of every kid in town. Each chapter focuses on a different child (the three so far about Alice, Richie and Pete respectively), and once all of them have been sufficiently adopted, I've been considering adding some slice-of-life stuff, exploring the changed character dynamics, and looking into parts of canon that would change in the AU as well. 2. Hollow at 455, a Hunter-centric one-shot for the Owl House set immediately after season 2 finished. It was written in the post King's Tide craze of awesome Human Realm content, so it got quite a lot of hits at the time. It focuses on Hunter dealing with the aftermath of Belos seemingly having died, and himself having being thrown into a completely new, unfamiliar world as an unfamiliar God took over his own :) 3. Flapjacks at 279, another Hunter-centric piece because TOH fans can't get enough of him lol (I am very much one of those fans). I began writing it back when Thanks to Them was first released, then got the motivation to finish it after I saw Watching and Dreaming. It focuses on Hunter returning to the Human Realm after the Collector's defeat, as well as Camila's thoughts on being a parent of who knows' how many kids at this point. Hunter finally gets the chance to mourn, and finds out what a flapjack actually is. 4. Gravesfield Historical Society, at 275. In which it's only natural that the Boiling Isles' leading Human Expert decides to do some research, and Gus does his very best to ignore the images plaguing him from looking into Belos' mind. Vee looks for some closure, Hunter is very protective over his little siblings, and Gus just wants to have a fun day at the museum. Things... Don't go to plan. 5. Fading, at 215. Yet another TOH work (I was around when the fandom was active as heck), one of the shortest pieces I've ever written at only 722 words. It's from Flapjack's POV during that scene in Thanks for Them. You know the one. I made lots of people cry, and sacrificed the birb.
5. Do you respond to comments?
Of course!! I thoroughly appreciate every comment I receive; they really make my day. Being part of an active fandom with the Uncle Paul AU has sort of taken me by storm so my inbox is pretty clogged at the moment, but I promise that I have read and smiled over and will reply to the comments all of my lovely readers have left behind! It means so much that someone's not only taken the time to read what I've written, but that they liked it enough to leave a comment behind. Even just keysmashes or "<33"s are really lovely to see, so thank you to the wonderful commentors out there! You guys are awesome :D
6. What’s the fic you wrote with the angstiest ending?
Ooh, now this is a tough one! Pretty much 95% of what I write is angst, with a good 70% being Hurt No Comfort. Still, I think the angstiest ending I've ever written would have to be that of either "Enough", in which 13 y/o me decided it was a good idea to follow the perspective of kindergartener Theodore Huxley as his brother pushed him to his death, or "Wilted", in which 13 y/o me decided it was a good idea to follow the perspective of suicidal kindergartener Lily as she gave up on finding the one person who cared about her and committed suicide as a result of being bullied. Wilted should probably win out considering the implications of what would happen to Billy as a result, and bc the ending subsequently led to Nugget's death too, but Ted's train of thought in Enough is so gosh darn sad.
7. What’s the fic you wrote with the happiest ending?
Definitely "McDonald's". That's the fluffiest thing I've ever written, no doubt about it. Not a smidgen of angst, just a bunch of kids with colourful eyes and pointy ears walking into a fast food restaurant and discovering what chicken nuggets are. It literally ends with the promise of more cute adventures to come, so I'd say this one's a no-brainer loll
8. Do you get hate on fics?
I've only ever received hate once, on a little Gravity Falls AU I made entitled "Puppet Strings and Stage Curtains". I got some pretty nasty criticism on it and, as a kid who was still very anxious about posting stuff online, it really impacted me at the time. I'm still a little nervous even now to open up my inbox because I think I might have gotten another comment like that shfjdhhgkjh. I wound up abandoning the fic because my motivation was completely destroyed, and I couldn't even look at the thing without feeling ashamed. However, I haven't received any hate since, which is great! There's just no reason for it, really; if you like something, leaving a comment is wonderful, and it makes the author happy! If you don't, just don't read the fic. Leaving a hurtful comment isn't going to make anyone happy, and can be really damaging to writers. Shoutout to @weedkillercentral, who, without fail, leaves the bizzarest comments known to man on almost every work I post.
9. Do you write smut?
Nope! I am a ✨minor✨ (@snarky-wallflower dw I too am a nerdy prude, sex jokes are Ew). Still, I do enjoy writing romance from time to time! Some ships are straight-up hard not to enjoy reading/writing for :))
11. Have you ever had a fic stolen?
Funny story, actually. I used to have Wattpad and, as much as I hated using it, a friend of mine liked the site so I used it to support her. I wound up posting some of my own stuff on there at one point. I will never be able to get over the fact that when you searched up my username online, the images used to show a picture of Sharkbomb Glomgold. How do I know this? Because small me got bored and looked up my username, and accidentally found a mirror site to Wattpad with some of my stuff on. It credited my username and everything, but I panicked about it because as far as I was aware, I had no control over whether I could take it down or what else could be put on it. So, I deleted everything on my account, and just like that, the fics on the mirror site vanished. So no, I've never had anything outright stolen-- at least, I hope I haven't-- but that was a Not Fun experience for little me a few years ago
12. Have you ever had a fic translated?
No, I'm not famous enough for that lol. I did have an offer for someone to make a podfic of smth I wrote a few years ago, but they never got around to it. Still, if anyone ever wants to translate one of my fics, I'd love it if you did! Please just let me know and acknowledge me as the OG author; having a work translated sounds awesome.
13. Have you ever co-written a fic before?
Yes! Many thanks yet again to the amazing @charismabee, my dear co-author and the Kel shirt to my Maverick cosplay wig. The amount of hours I've spent writing with her is actually insane, as well as the times we've just messaged brainstorming AUs or having far too strong feelings about the show Elena of Avalor. We've done joint Whumptobers and Febuwhumps, fics that are combinations of the nichest stories and characters, a lot of redemption arcs for 5-year-olds... If you like my stuff, I thoroughly encourage you to go give her work a read at TheFearIsRed on AO3! :D
If anyone else ever wants to try collaborating on something, I think I'd be willing to give it a try! There are loads of talented authors on here, and co-writing is a lot of fun <3
14. What’s your all-time favorite ship?
Hmm... Well, Paulkins is an obvious one (remember that one post about "hatchetfield fans when normal man and his barista crush show up for 5 seconds"? yeah that's me). They have a level of mutual trust and understanding that's just really nice to explore, they both have issues galore but will support each other no matter what, half infected Paul content is golden and as an avid Uncle Paul truther, Emma finding out about his many children is just too funny a concept to me. They act like teenagers when they see each other, they're both down bad, she knows he doesn't like the Christmas advert jingles, he thinks she's funny,,, they're so <3
Another strong contender is Pearla (Penny x Carla), from the K2 fandom. @goldmoth82 was the one who got me into writing about them with their absolutely incredible stuff (art, fics, you name it!). They're just a traumatised android and a thieving arsonist, what more could you want?
Gold rush (Kel x Mikhael) is another of my favourites though, mostly because it's so funny. Mikhael has declared them rivals, and Kel could not care less. Mikhael challenges him to races, and Kel beats him easily. Mikhael insults him often, but Kel doesn't retaliate. Mikhael wants to be independent and special, to stand out from everyone else. Kel wants to be appreciated as more than just Hero's brother, to be liked and acknowledged as himself. Mikhael would vehemently deny his feelings until Daphne and Bowen tied them up together and forced him to confess. Rivals are just lovers in disguise, everyone. One-sided gold rush is even funnier, because they're technically one-sided rivals. Kel was Mikhael's homosexual awakening. Mikhael looks so dumb and flamboyant because he's trying to impress him. Mikhael claims he hates him and that his bright red face is from anger after Kel effortlessly beats him time and time again. I love them.
But I think out of everything, Wrightworth would have to take my top pic for favourite ship. Gay lawyers who would die for each other for the win.
15. What’s a WIP you want to finish but doubt you will?
Ohh gosh. There are quite a few, but I'd probably say this year's Whumptober. My mental health went schwoop this October and I only got up to day 11 despite my plans. I still intend to finish the collab one with Red when I have time again (exams suck), and I'm not sure if I'll ever be able to get around to completing it. At least there's always next year! :"]
16. What are your writing strengths?
Definitely characterisation. I have a lot of fun getting into characters' heads and making studies on them in different scenes or just overall, and have a lot of fun bouncing different personalities off of each other. Once I know a character, I know the character, and writing their POV is as simple as breathing lol. I'd also say that I'm pretty good at tension building and breaking, as well as Hurt No Comfort (you need some good old angst, I'm your gal).
17. What are your writing weaknesses?
Action scenes, for one, though I've been improving on them since I started the TOH Kindergarten AU! I'd also say that I struggle with slower-paced, filler sort of stuff. I might like to build up to an event, but chapters that don't have plot relevance just sort of stump me lol, even when they're necessary :)
18. Thoughts on writing dialogue in another language?
I enjoy learning languages, and have been teaching myself Spanish for the past couple of years or so. However, writing them is a whole separate thing entirely. If I had a translator, I'd be all good! I just get a little worried when I write any language that isn't Spanish because google translate is unreliable as heck, so I typically tend to avoid it. Luckily, none of my fandoms really require it- but if that Franziska & Miles brainrot doesn't go away soon, I might be in a bit of a pickle trying to write German dialogue hshjhgfk
19. First fandom you wrote for?
A Series of Unfortunate Events (the Netflix show). It was the first fandom I got really, properly into, diving in headfirst at the age of about 12 and finding a lot of awesome content. The obsession I had with VFDBaudelaireFile13's Violet Snicket AU "Misery Loves Company" a few years ago was wild. My writing back then was very jolty, and I wrote in chapters that only lasted a few paragraphs with big, bold titles that often had at least two exclamation marks at the end. Still, ASOUE is one of my favourite shows to this day, and I don't regret a thing from my time binge-reading everything I could find for it (except that one lemons fic I accidentally came across when starved for content), nor any of the silly little unposted AUs I wrote on Word.
20. Top 3 fics I've ever written:
I puzzled over this question for ages, but found it impossible to choose just one! Ignore that I'm cheating a little here, and take three instead <3
1. An unposted collaborative work with @charismabee/TheFearIsRed that we called MPT. It was the first big fic I ever wrote, and it was probably what really got me into writing as a hobby. I got to spend time at random intervals writing about and whumping my favourite characters with someone I'm very close with, making up the plot as we went along. I remember coming up with the initial idea on a swingset, and spending hours colour-coding every segment of those 50,000 words based on each mention of a character as well as who wrote what. MPT is messy, and a tad repetitive in places, and while finished, I don't believe it's something I'll ever post. But it holds a special place in my heart, and it's a lot of fun looking back on my writing from a couple years ago compared to now 2. Not sure if this fully counts, but an untitled Omori WIP I've got going atm is definitely up there. It's Hero-centric with huge emphasis on his trauma, following the course of the year the events of the game occur in. I've had a blast writing his thoughts and time at college, and I'm geberally just really proud of it thus far. Hopefully, it'll be done by January in time for his birthday! :) 3. Now this one is a posted work– Magical Girls: Omori!, another collab with Red. We came up with the idea, binge-watched season one of Glitter Force on Netflix, and ran with the plot. We've planned out all of season 1 with ideas for season 2, incorporated a plethora of great characters, and been able to mess around with a fun fantasy high school full of our favourites. It's always wonderful to write, and I really like how it's been going!
Thank you again to @snarky-wallflower for the tag! You're amazing <3
As for people I know, I've tagged the vast majority of you already sjhkffg oops.
@charismabee @goldmoth82 @weltato @inprisonforsparkling hey there jpr the au mastermind, fanartist of the century, paul whump bestie and king of michie. you guys are some of my favourite writers out there, i'd love to see what you answer with for this (no pressure ofc!) <33

F.O.W.L. Case Files: The Last Codename!
Ok, I’ve been meaning to write this up for over a year, but with the finale being tonight, and Frank having posted the pic of the numbers on Webby’s board earlier today, this feels like as good a time as any to do this. (@tree-wizard Here you go!)
Last year, I made an addition to a post about S.H.U.S.H. codenames that pointed out the above pic being the clue about codenames, which can be found here, and I just posted an ask I got as a follow-up to that about name technicalities. (I recommend reading those first, as that’s where the core of this theory is - this post is mainly an elaboration/final thoughts type of thing.)
(Rest is under a cut!)
First, about the “known members of S.H.U.S.H. section at the top of that first post:
Bentina Beakley - Agent 22:
A few months after that post, I theorized about Bentina being Bianca Beakley (here). I don’t think anymore that she’d be the Bugmaster after seeing Gosalyn dressed up as her in LGD, but the Bianca part could still hold some merit.
Now knowing that Bradford Buzzard used to be a part of S.H.U.S.H. before starting F.O.W.L., that would mean that his codename would have been 22 (though being just an accountant, he probably wasn’t assigned one). Still, that would make him “Director 22″ of F.O.W.L. if they used the same system (which he would know about). Point is, when I wrote “22 - Bentina Beakley, no doubt” about the 22 on the board, I may have spoken too quickly (especially considering the “The Traitor” post-it below).
Ludwig Von Drake - Agent 1222:
That number is what was originally in the post, using V = 22 for the second half of it. But after the ask I got, saying that “von” doesn’t count in last names, that would make Ludwig Agent/Director 124 (L = 12, D = 4). (Not on the board, in that order, but still good to clarify! And it’s the same as what Louie’s would be!)
Moving on, the point about the ask was that it made my following point from the post still possible:
If you simply add the zeroes into 14 to get 14, that either gives you the initials AD or the single letter N. For the AD, the closest thing I can think of right now is Anya (Von) Drake on the list above. But there’s that Von.
The post first had Anya (one of Ludwig’s daughters) as 122, using the V again, but now she’d be 14 for sure. Again, good to clarify and consider, but at this point in the game, I’d be surprised if 1400 was in reference to her.
Ooh! A random thought I just got while rewatching “Dangerous Chemistry”! When Fenton shows Gandra his Fentonium, she goes, “Ada Dovelace! That’s amazing!” That would definitely be AD = 14, though I mean, if that’s the 1400 reference then that would be really unexpected. But...Ada Dovelace is a bird pun name of Ada Lovelace, who was one of the first computer programmers. And, as I have recently discovered and am pretty sure of, Isabella Finch is a play on Isabella Bird, an 1800s British explorer and writer! It’s a near-impossible leap for the board, but at the very least, I like that the DT17 crew made all these references to some awesome historical figures! :D
Finally though, the main reason I wanted to make this elaboration post was because with “von” not counting anymore, there’s now one more name to throw into the mix:
Bruno von Beak, the original double-o-duck catalyst
I had some different thoughts about him being Agent 22 (trans Beakley, anyone?), but with him likely being not the case either, I’ll just put this quote from the DT87 episode “Double-O-Duck” on the table (they’re talking about Launchpad here): "He looks more like Bruno than you-know-who-no."
Anywho, I cannot wait to finally find out what’s up with the numbers, and everything, tonight! It’s almost here!

avoid the unhappy ending (ch5)
ships/characters: Goldie, Violet, Lena, Scrooge/Goldie words (ch5): ~1300 summary: Goldie comes to town to see Scrooge. Instead, she somehow manages to run into literally everyone else. ao3 link: https://archiveofourown.org/works/27108943/chapters/66355184
[1 & 2] [3] [4]
Chapter 5 below the cut:
At this point, she was just checking random doors. That door used to be a closet, but hey - maybe it’s a secret room now! Oh, nope. Still a closet.
That door used to be a bathroom! And...still a bathroom.
Eventually she did open one that turned out to be a room. A surprisingly big room, actually. With two pairs of eyes staring right at her.
She didn’t want to talk to more kids. This was getting tiring. Goldie immediately tried to turn around, but the door was suddenly encased in a blue light and it closed magically in front of her.
“Who are you?!”
Goldie turned around to see the taller child floating two feet off the ground and holding a magically glowing hand towards the door. Yes, of course. Why wouldn’t Scrooge have magical children running around his home? He had everything else. This just made sense.
The other little girl was holding some sort of glowing magical talisman. Great. Great, great, great.
“How about a better question...who are you two?”
Lena scowled. “We asked you first!”
“I suppose that’s true.” Goldie shrugged, taking a few steps away from the door to test her current flexibility under this glowing child’s eye. She couldn’t take more than a few steps before feeling a magical heat on her feathers. The heat felt oddly familiar, like she’d fought someone before who used the exact same brand of magic. A hundred years of magical foes didn’t trim the list down very much, but it was something to think about. With that in mind, Goldie decided that fighting these kids wasn’t worth the effort nor the consequences.
“I’m a friend of Scrooge’s.”
Lena looked like she’d calmed down a little at that response, pulling her arm back, but Violet put up a hand threateningly. “Scrooge McDuck has a lot of dangerous friends. What’s your name?”
Goldie moved to slap her hand against her forehead, but quickly stopped and instead pinched the bridge at the top of her beak. “Goldie O’Gilt.”
Violet didn’t seem to recognize the name, but Lena immediately relaxed and landed back down on the floor with a thud.
“You know her?”
“Yeah, she’s Scrooge’s girlfriend. She’s a thief, but Louie says she’s harmless.”
“Harmless?” Goldie scowled. “Just because I don’t want to mess with a bunch of children doesn’t mean you shouldn’t be afraid of me!”
Violet raised an eyebrow and looked up at her sister. “I see what you mean.”
“What!?”
“So what’re you doing here, Goldie?” Lena asked impolitely, not bothering with any sort of title or explanation. “We’re kind of busy getting started on a sleepover.”
Goldie’s eye twitched and she stared down at these two unexpectedly sassy children. “I’m just trying to find Scrooge. Somehow I doubt you two vagabonds could help me out.”
“Like we would even if we could,” Lena said with a smirk, elbowing her sister in the arm. “I think she’s scared of me.”
“Your powers have grown exceptionally more intimidating, so it’s understandable.”
The blonde dragged her hand down the side of her face. “You two are starting to get on my last nerve. You should never mistake pity for fear.”
Violet and Lena glanced at one another and locked eyes, considering their options in case the strange, older woman decided to attack. Webby would return momentarily, and three against one would give them just the right odds they needed.
Lena lifted herself an inch off the ground and her eyes started to glow again and she glared at Goldie, who stared down at her suspiciously for a minute until realization struck. Those eyes, though a different color, were unmistakable.
“I know who you remind me of!” Goldie said suddenly with her pointer finger in the air. “Your powers, your face...are you a De Spell by any chance?”
That did the trick. The shock of the accusation made Lena’s powers all but backfire and she tripped backwards, landing on her butt. Violet stepped back to help lift her back up.
“Are you alright, Lena?”
“I’m fine!” Lena sat up and shook her head angrily. “How did you-?”
“Magica and I had a few run-ins back in the 70’s,” Goldie said with a shrug. “You have her eyes, you know that? You look just like her.”
Violet glared at the older woman and Lena almost felt like curling in on herself, turning her head to look down at her feet sadly. She didn’t say anything and suddenly Goldie felt a weird, unfamiliar sensation. Almost like she’d said something wrong when she knew for a fact she’d only said a simple fact.
Still...the kid looked very unhappy. Clearly Magica was not someone she wanted to be related to.
Goldie sighed deeply and walked closer, crouching down to be more on their level. “Look, the average person wouldn’t notice something like that, alright? I’m sure you’re nothing like Magica. You’re pretty clearly more level headed than her. And not insane.”
She looked away from the girls, who were both staring up at her with their big eyes. “I’m assuming you’re not evil, either. Pink doesn’t seem like she’d be into that.”
Lena and Violet looked at each other, then back up at Goldie again.
“Did you just try to comfort me?”
Goldie rolled her eyes. “Don’t ruin the moment. I just did my one good deed for the year.”
Violet helped Lena stand back up. “If this is what counts as your one good deed, I shudder to imagine what you spend the rest of your time doing.”
“Good.”
Lena crossed her arms over her chest again, feeling more like herself than she did a second before. “Does Webby even know you’re here? Or Scrooge?”
“She does; he’d better not.” Goldie shrugged. “If he does, he’ll face my wrath for making me hunt him down. These little chases are supposed to be fun. Instead I’ve been babysitting brats all afternoon.”
“From what I understand, you and Mr. McDuck are...romantically inclined?” Violet asked with a hand under her beak. “Why not just tell him you’ve arrived so he can greet you properly? You have a cell phone in your pocket.”
Goldie smirked. “Now how would that be any fun?”
“Efficiency is always fun. Proper communication leads to accurately scheduled arrivals and your available time for intimate interaction could increase significantly, likely strengthening your relationship and leading to a healthier outlook of your lives together.” She looked at her sister who was making a disgusted expression. “What’s wrong?”
Lena and Goldie spoke at once. “Gross.”
They both blinked simultaneously and looked at each other. Violet brought a hand up to her beak to contain her chuckle at the ridiculousness of the situation.
Goldie scoffed and flipped her ponytail back over her shoulder while Lena blew a raspberry and sank down into the make-shift pillow seat she’d been working on earlier. Neither of them spoke but Violet could sense an odd change in the air.
“When did you speak to Webbigail? She was supposed to be getting us some snacks and it’s taken her longer than expected.”
Goldie shrugged again. “She stopped for a few minutes to bother me. I’m sure she’ll be back soon.”
“Back with questions for you, I’d bet,” Lena said and pointed behind her. “You’d probably have some great additions for the Mystery Board.”
Her curiosity was not going to get the better of her. “I don’t want to know what that means.” She moved towards the door and cracked it open to look out. No sign of the kid. No sign of anyone. Time to get back to looking for Scrooge.
Without a goodbye, she started through the door.
“Goldie?”
The blonde sighed and squeezed the door frame, turning her head to the side. “Yes?”
“Are you here to steal something?”
Goldie looked back at the girl who spoke and saw a genuinely curious expression under her dyed hair.
She sighed and turned back towards the hallway. “That’s not all I do.”
And she left, shutting the door behind her.

Ducktales 87 Reviews: Aqua Ducks (CACC P3) or Launchpad and Doofus: Kings Of Atlantis
My look at the Catch as Cash Can 4-Parter commissioned by @weirdkev27 enters it’s worst chapter as Scrooge heads under the sea with Launchpad, Gyro and for some reason Doofus, and find the lost city of Atlantis has become a trash dump for a bunch of asshole frog people who enslave them to pick up their trash. But Launchpad rides a Dolphin so like episode it at least has.. something... if not much Horrors and the full review await you under the cut.
Previously on Ducktales:
Now that’s out of the way where we.. ah yes
I remembered this episode for being bad the first time around, if not many details, but HOPE my dread was unjustified and this was a hidden gem.. I was wrong. While the last episode in this four parter, utterly classic moment aside, was a mess, it was a FUN mess that had Peter Cullen, Donald Duck, a robotic whale, robotic ice cream trucks, and an utterly stupid wannabe noble prize winner. It was So bad it was decent. This.. is just not very good and there’s no sense dragging it out let’s get into why. We open with Launchpad in his helicopter and i’m HAPPY to finally get to see him in this four parter. He’s been gone for the first two parts, if justifably since he wasn’t needed for either of them, but just like Donald when he’s missing on the reboot, it’s still nice to have him back. And as you can tell unlike Beakly, I LIKE 87 Launchpad quite a bit. He’s friendly, means well, is a skilled if crash prone pilot and has a seriously deep problem with insecurity that, as someone whose frequently self doubting or self defeating himself, I can relate. He’s one of the more fleshed out characters of the reboot and there’s good reason he was the one to carry over to the spinoff and got bumped up to one of the main trio there. I do still like the reboot version, who while made even dumber but is still very likeable. But yeah he’s taking Scrooge to see Gyro, whose built the salvage vehicle Scrooge was going to ask him about last time and is working on some balloon devices to send the money back up with Doofus.. whose.. there for some reason. No really none is given and he could’ve easily been the boys, but Russi Taylor must’ve wanted a justified day off or something because their just.. absent. And while Launchpad being absent made some sense, again he wasn’t needed story or character wise and I respect both Ducktales tendency to swap out, if not the reboot’s tendency to forget Donald in season 1 and Beakly for the series as a whole, though this season is doing slightly better with her. But the boys have been with this bet from day one, been invaluable in the first episode for helping scrooge and are reliable and useful.. and are just at home because shut up and replaced with a far more obnoxious character. Yeah Doofus isn’t great. He’s sweet, I’ll give him that and he DOES come in handy this episode.. but he doesn’t really do anything the boys or webby couldn’t do. He’s just around to tell three jokes: Either he’s dumb, he’s annoying to the cast, or
He adds nothing, takes up space and is only useful this episode because the plot was catered to make him that way. He’s just one long meanspirited fat shaming joke coupled with a few dum dum jokes. I can see why Frank and Matt couldn’t stand him and made the reboot version into an utter human nightmare. At least his horrible goblin of a reboot version is INTRESTING and a good antagonist for the boys, and his worst aspects are now tempered by the great dynamic of giving him Boyd as a brother. This one is just.. bad.
As for Gyro, he’s alright, likeable enough and interesting. The reboot one’s good in his own right, even if it took a while for them to find the right balance of likeable and jackass, and both are decent enough. Not as much to say there so with all my opinions out of the way we can get this terrible episode into gear. Our crew, which STILL includes Doofus for some reason seriously...
I mean that there’s no reason to take him along by Gyro or anybody and he does nothing but annoy scrooge with his sardines and peanut butter and communication with dolphins while Scrooge makes mean spirited fat jokes.
Picture jokes aside.. yeah Scrooge is just as likeable this episode as he’s a mean dickhead to pretty much everybody, and that’s the WORST kind of comics story in my opinion so I do not like it here. While Launchpad can be dum, doofus is genuinely annoying and Gyro does screw up majorly in a second, all three are well meaning and want to help Scrooge while he’s a dick. And while this is the episodes point as he underestimates and mocks them only for them to save the day, we’ll get to that, and then thanks them at the end, it doesn’t make it fun or pleasant to WATCH him constantly berate everyone. It’s like watching later seasons rick and morty, and just as tiring.
Anyways back to the plot, uuuuuurrrruugugguhhhhh, they descend into the Marinara trench with Scrooge being elated at going deeper than anyone and i’ts pretty much the only time he feels well written the whole episode. But Gyro spoils the mood by revealing he didn’t do proper testing on the Gold Digger, the subs name for.. some reason.. even though it’s not an excavation vehicle but whatever At least it’s not robot in the family’s gold digger. But a small malfunction aside it works, though still man you were TOLD this needed to go under extreme pressure. you had ONE job and could’ve told scrooge it might not be ready and let him decide. Not having the time is understandable but not telling Scrooge when the pressure’s this high is not.
This ends up going nowhere however as they soon run into literal Frogmen, a decent pun, and the joys of froggy men ruined both by lazy feeling designs and the fact their really annoying. Their voices are okay, as they drag our heroes to see their leader but we soon find out their schtick: Their mad because humans keep dumping shit in their ocean.
This isn’t a bad motivator, it’s been used for superhero/supervillian depending on the time of day Namor at marvel for decades for good reason and it’s not bad to tell kids not to pollute.. but it hurts your message when the person telling you this decides to solve this issue by extreme and loathsome methods that make them come across as an ass. Namor attacks cities, has killed hundreds and currently is trying to ban people from the ocean despite many depending on it. These guys are enslaving people they have no idea if they’ve done anything or not, instead of at the very least ransoming them to get better treatment or interrogating them. Nope they just put them to work hauling rocks and tires for them to use in the ruins of atlantis. Oh and the ruins of Atlantis is their junkyard so that’s a thing and will be important in the next part. That concept.. is actually pretty neat and I think was in the barks story this was based off.. yeah while I don't’ remember the story well he too had a story where merpeople kidnapped scrooge and the boys, it was different than this but only slightly more tolerable and not one of his better stories. Moving on.
Point is creative idea aside i’ts just a boring, unpleasant watch as our heroes are trapped in an air pocket after a days work, and their guard is just your standard sneering jackass villain. Outside of the Atlantis as a junkyard concept there’s nothing new here even for the time it was made. Secret society captures and enslaves our hero’s was a common trope as far back as the 40′s. This is just tedious and played out. It’s why this review has less jokes and more be banging my head against the wall in text form: it’s just not Funny mockable. Sure scrooge is a dick, but it’s not in a way that’s easy to make fun of. Sure Doofus befriends a dolphin via sardine bribes but hta’ts more sad it’s the only way he can make friends than anything. It’s just plodding, tedious and bad.
But yeah our heroes are stranded without their helmets but Scrooge, not trusting the other three because again dick, had them distract the guards next shift.. though really he has no high ground when not much earlier his loudly mentoining they hadn’t taken their helmets got them taken away. But he makes a break for the Gold Digger, only for the assholes of the sea to throw out their trump card: A giant sea monster named Glubzilla because this episode can’t just let a good monster design sit and has to give it a dumb name. The Gold Digger is destroyed and our heroes stranded.. instead of you know.. studying the thing to make more of them or forcing gyro to make more out of their junk to attack the surface? Seriously these guys suck at being vengeful atlantians. You have a super genius and a giant sea monster! Attack! Gah this episode hurts my think pan.
So Scrooge is seperate and left to slowly drown for the rest of the episode while the rest of the team comes up with a plan. Doofus brings up some soda Gyro made earlier I forgot to mention, and Gyro comes up with the idea to FLOAT Atlantis to the top and escape with not only scrooge’s fortune but any other treasure they’ve gotten. He just needs rubber, which Doofus’ dolphin friend provides and was shown to be good at earlier.. and was scared off by one of the guards despite you know.. making the job go faster. It doesn’t mean Doofus works less it just means one part of his job gets done quicker so you can have him do more. You can’t even get forced manual labor right you assholes. These guys make NAMOR tolerable by comparison and he spent most of his time with the x-men trying to bang Cyclops girlfriend with no regards to her being in a relationship because “Well their not married doesn’t count”.. which olds no water when he STILL has hit on Sue Richards for what will be 80 years next year with no regards for Reed. Point is Namor’s a dick and these guys are somehow worse. At least Namor is competent. Gah.. let’s move on. Point is gyro can get things going, and has everything he needs now he just needs to smear it on the coral to finish it off and send Atlantis up and a reluctant and annoyed Launchpad is elected to ride Doofus’ dolphin. What follows is Launchpad riding a dolphin which is awesome.. but like most of this episode it’s made obnoxious by the padding of the sequence. Launchpad howeve ris able to lead Globzilla away when he shows up and eventually beats the thing as it holds Atlantis down by tickling it.. which was actually a good joke good job episode you told one!. Our heroes escape, Scrooge is saved from drowning, and in one more actually good gag the Frogs boo scrooge for taking away their trash.. before realizing he’s taking away pretty much all their trash and cheer him. So the day’s saved, Scrooge apologizes as mentioned and we’re in the final stretch of this four parter. Thank god this is over.
Final Thoughts: I hated it.. it was boring, the villians were dumb, have been done better before and were a chore to watch, it was filled with padding, Scrooge and Doofus were obnoxious, It wasn’t good and I dont’ want to ever watch it again and wouldn’t have if I wasn’t paid to. I remembered it being bad.. it was worse. If you think there’s a worse episode of the original ducktales, feel free to force me to watch it, because I genuinely don’t think this thing can be topped, just give me a pm or an ask asking to commission it and we can set one up, it’s only 5 dollars for one episode, 15 for a movie, and for a bunch of episodes at once i’ts 5 dollars off your total order. Next time we finish this daunting but rewarding, both in money and in knowledge, quest. Until then, wear a mask, check your house for Gary Busey and hopefully i’ll see you again.

You know how Disney XD has been doing themed marathons of Ducktales with each kid counting down their top four of something? Louie did top 4 treasures, Webby did disguises AND monsters. I am positive Dewey did one, but I can’t find it/remember what his theme was.
Well Disney just posted Huey’s marathon clips and they are GOLDEN:
youtube
Louie-That ship stranded our mom on the moon for 10 years.
Huey-Which is WHY it’s number 2 and not number 1.
Dewey-Are you supposed to tell everyone Fenton is Gizmoduck?
Huey-Oh no.
Huey-And please forget that thing I said about Fenton being Gizmoduck, it was OBVIOUSLY a joke!
Dewey-But you don’t tell jokes.
Huey-Now Dewey is the one telling jokes! *awkward laughing*

It Involves Fire
Ducktales (2017) Oneshot
Summary: Prompt "I have a solution, it involves fire" "absolutely not"
A/N: this is my first time writing for Ducktales so it's not exactly perfect also it's really short, but I hope you enjoy it.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
"The hordes of zombies were surrounding the Money Bin, every exit was boarded up with wooden planks while the McDuck family ran to the top of the bin. Scrooge paced around devising a plan that will hopefully get rid of the zombies and save what is left of Duckberg if not everyone dies and-"
"Will you quit that, it's not helping" Louie shouted at Dewey. "I'm sorry I narrate when I'm scared" he replied fisting his hands into the collar of his shirt and stretching it down to his torso. Huey started flipping through his junior woodchuck guide book furiously "The junior woodchuck guide book must have something about zombies, it has to."
"You're seriously going to rely on that thing" Webby inquired as she quickly boarded up the windows kicking a few zombies in the process. Huey continued to flip through his book "Of course, the junior woodchucks have never failed me before. There must be some logical explanation for this, maybe something to do with the soil" his eyes darting from page-to-page. Webby stood next to Huey watching him flip through his book "There is only one explanation and that's magic!" Huey looked up from his guide and stared at Webby "Ha you have to be kidding me, this is not magic it's science."
Meanwhile, Scrooge was coming up with a plan to get rid of these undead beasts once and for all. He shifted his tophat as he scratched his head "I just don't get it, how did these undead beasties get 'er?"
"Maybe they have unfinished business? I know I'd be pretty annoyed If someone buried me before I could finish watching the last episode of Darkwing Duck." Launchpad added. Scrooge looked at Launchpad with wonder " aye Launchpad I won't pretend to understand what that means." Scrooge glanced at his nephews: Dewey was narrating to himself, Louie was rocking back and forth with his hood up and Huey and Webby were in a debate about who knows what. "Hmmm, where did ye come from ya sorry excuse for death.' Scrooge rubbed the end of his beak in deep thought.
"Uncle Scrooge I got it, I found a solution!" The sudden sound of Huey's voice startled Scrooge out of his thoughts, Huey came running up to Scrooge's desk holding out his junior woodchuck guide book. Scrooge adjusted his glasses and released a sigh of relief "Thank goodness" he could always count on his family- "It involves fire" - to save the "WHAT!" Scrooge shouted.
"It says here in the junior woodchucks' guide book page 223, section 3, paragraph 4 that the only way to defeat a zombie is by using fire" Huey had a smug look on his face after telling Webby he had a solution "Absolutely not, there must be another way" at Scrooge's words Hewy's smug grin turned into a frown "Wha-What? Why this is the only way to stop them."
"And risk losing all my money, you must think I'm crazy lad"
"Well, what are we gonna do we can't just sit here and wait to die" Louie nagged. Scrooge stood tall "We are going to keep our wits about us and figure out a way to fix this all; if my name is Scrooge McDuck smarter than the smarties and tougher than the toughies." Louie pulled a hand down his beak as Scrooge continued to monologue "Ugh boy, not this again."
A Long Post About a Short Ducktales 2017 Playlist
You know how when you get obsessed with a new series, certain songs take on new meanings (or more of the same meaning) than they had before because they remind you of the characters?
I wanna share some songs with you that to me are sooooo Ducktales 2017.
1. For Donald and the boys: “The Lucky Ones,” by Jack and Tim on Britain’s Got Talent (link; start at 0:34).
This song by a father and son is all about family losses and how lucky they are to still have each other. The chorus reminds me of Donald and the boys being lucky to have each other after Della left. “Others leave too young / but we’re the lucky ones.” It’s also sweetly ironic because Donald doesn’t often feel lucky, but he is. <3 <3 <3
2. For Donald: “Some Nights,” (Clean Radio Cut) by Fun (link)
This song is so full of lyrics that remind me of Donald, from cashing in his bad luck, to wishing his lips would fall off, to trying twice as hard but being half as liked (certainly how he felt when they went to see Gladstone). Other lyrics that remind me of him are: “This is it boys, this is war / What are we waiting for?” (his resolve in the finale) “When I see stars, when I see stars, that’s all they are”(no desire for space exploration, unlike Della) “Ten years of this, I’m not sure if anybody understands”(his estrangement from Scrooge while raising his nephews for ten years) And more than all of those, this whole verse: “My heart is breaking for my sister / and the con that she called ‘love’ / and then I look into my nephew’s eyes / Man, you wouldn’t believe the most amazing things / that can come from some terrible nights” For Donald though we’d have to change nephew’s to nephews’ because he’s got three of them.
3. For Della: “Counting Stars,” by One Republic, cover by the Gardiner Sisters (link)
I chose this cover not just because it’s sung by women, but because the piano accompaniment captures the right emotion, ya know? The first part of pre-chorus makes me think of Della’s young, fiery self before her disappearance: “I feel something so right doing the wrong thing,” and the second part makes me think of the switch she’s bound to make coming to Earth and wanting to be her boys’ mother but knowing that they’re better off with Donald raising them: “And I feel something so wrong doing the right thing.” I feel like the chorus is like a mother’s love song to her boys as she longs to return home, be part of their lives, and give them the stars without leaving. “Lately, I’ve been, I’ve been losing sleep / dreaming about the things that we could be / But baby, I’ve been, I’ve been praying hard / Said no more counting dollars / We’ll be, we’ll be counting stars.” The bridge makes me think of the added regret she’ll feel knowing what Scrooge went through to try to find her: “Take that money, watch it burn / sink in the river the lessons I learned.”
4. For Scrooge: “Viva la Vida,” by Coldplay (link)
It’s a song about a guy who was on the top of the world and then lost everything. While Scrooge didn’t lose all of his money, he did lose most of it trying to save Della, and he lost everything truly important to him both times we’ve seen him become estranged from his family. After Della’s disappearance, he dropped out of the spotlight, stopped adventuring, and as Louie would put it, stopped being a big deal. Also, Scrooge has a lot of enemies, so there’s the lyric about “Revolutionaries wait for my head on a silver plate.”
5. For Donald and Della: “A’ Phiuthrag ‘sa Phiuthar” performed by Julie Fowlis (link)
This one’s kinda obscure in comparison to the others, but it’s quite lovely and sweet and sad. It’s a traditional Scottish Gaelic folk song about a sister who gets taken by evil fairies and is lamenting about where she’s trapped. I mean Donald and Della do have Scottish blood, and Della did disappear because of something that flies and I’m sure she’d sing a lament about where she’s trapped (PAGET BREWSTER CAN SING YOU GUYS HECK YAS). So... yup. Lovely song. Love me some Scottish Gaelic. Julie Fowlis is the best (and she sang in Brave).
6. For Webby: “Sharada,” by Skye Sweetnam (link)
This is the ultimate awesome misfit girl anthem! And the lyrics, especially the first verse, are so Webby: “Once upon a time there was a girl / You wouldn’t really call her typical / Had her own definition of ‘cool’ / She lived in her own world / She had her own style, her own rules / She played along like it was usual / Nobody really even knew her name / To her life is one big game”
7. For Everybody: “The Adventure,” by Angels and Airwaves (link)
This whole song captures the adventurous spirit in all the characters. It’s one of those songs that would make a great AMV about a whole show, especially a show about family and adventure. “I felt this thing I can’t replace / When everyone was working for this goal / Where all the children left without a trace / Only to come back as pure as gold to recite this all”
So there’s my long post about a short playlist. I hope y’all like the songs!
My Top Ten True Crime Podcasts
I spend a lot of time on a computer, so I always need something to fill the silences. Since I am not much of a music person, I listen to a lot of podcasts. Currently, many of my favorite podcasts are true crime, which is definitely not for everyone, but I enjoy the psychology behind it. Since I spend so much of my time listening to these podcasts, I though I would share them with you. In no particular order, here are my favorites.
Serial
Creator: This American Life
Episodes: 23 over two seasons
Episode Length: 1 hour or less
"Serial is a podcast from the creators of This American Life, hosted by Sarah Koenig. Serial tells one story—a true story—over the course of a season. Each season, we follow a plot and characters wherever they take us. We won’t know what happens at the end until we get there, not long before you get there with us. Each week we bring you the next chapter in the story, so it's important to listen to the episodes in order. Serial has won several awards, including the Peabody, Edward R. Murrow, duPont-Columbia, Scripps Howard, and Silver Gavel Award for Media and the Arts. Serial, like This American Life, is produced in collaboration with WBEZ Chicago."
S-Town
Creator: Serial and This American Life
Episodes: 7
Episode Length: ~1 hour
"S-Town is a new podcast from Serial and This American Life, hosted by Brian Reed, about a man named John who despises his Alabama town and decides to do something about it. He asks Brian to investigate the son of a wealthy family who’s allegedly been bragging that he got away with murder. But then someone else ends up dead, and the search for the truth leads to a nasty feud, a hunt for hidden treasure, and an unearthing of the mysteries of one man’s life. Brian, a longtime This American Life producer, started reporting this story more than three years ago, when he got an email from John with the subject line “John B McLemore lives in Shittown Alabama.” S-Town is part of Serial Productions, a production company from Serial and This American Life."
Accused
Creator: Wondery
Episodes: 20 over two seasons
Episode Length: Less than 1 hour
"Season 1: When Elizabeth Andes was found murdered in her Ohio apartment in 1978, police and prosecutors decided within hours it was an open-and-shut case. Two juries disagreed. The Cincinnati Enquirer investigates: Was the right guy charged, or did a killer walk free?"
Up and Vanished
Creator: Payne Linsey of Tenderfoot TV
Episodes: 66
Episode Length: Less than 1 hour
"Atlanta filmmaker Payne Lindsey of Tenderfoot TV originally envisioned Up and Vanished as a true-crime documentary. Lindsey selected a missing-person case from his home state, Georgia, and embarked on a journey as an amateur investigator. After starting his research and initial interviews, he decided to present the project in audio form as a podcast. Season 1 of Up and Vanished explored the 2005 disappearance of beauty queen and high school teacher Tara Grinstead from her home in Ocilla, Georgia. The cold case was the largest case file in the Georgia Bureau of Investigation’s history, with no arrests in 11 years. The podcast quickly drew attention, both in South Georgia and nationwide. Reviewing old leads and uncovering new ones, Up and Vanished quickly expanded from a planned six-episode season to a final count of 24 episodes with numerous bonus episodes. As the people of Ocilla began talking about the case again, new leads and stories emerged. In February 2017, the GBI arrested two suspects for Grinstead’s murder. Up and Vanished will continue to provide updates on this no-longer-cold case as the criminal trial proceeds in 2018. A second season of Up and Vanished, covering a completely different true crime story, will debut on August 20, 2018."
Atlanta Monster
Creator: The producers of of Up and Vanished, Tenderfoot TV, and HowStuffWorks
In our twenty-six episode series opener, The Black Dahlia Serial Killers, host Tracy Pattin investigates the sensational unsolved murder of Elizabeth Short. Known as the Black Dahlia, Short was a star-struck young woman whose body was found completely severed at the waist in January 1947. Many remember her tragic story, yet few know that more than a dozen other women died in similar circumstances around that same time."
Dirty John
Creator: Wondery
Episodes: 8
Episode Length: ~40 minutes
"Debra Newell is a successful interior designer. She meets John Meehan, a handsome man who seems to check all the boxes: attentive, available, just back from a year in Iraq with Doctors Without Borders. But her family doesn’t like John, and they get entangled in an increasingly complex web of love, deception, forgiveness, denial, and ultimately, survival. Reported and hosted by Christopher Goffard from the L.A. Times."
If you have any interest in true crime, or are looking to break into the world of podcasts, I would definitely recommend starting somewhere on this list. Without many of these podcasts, I think I would have lost my wits long ago!
What are some of your favorite podcasts or genres? Have you listened to any of the ones previously mentioned? Would you add anything to this list?
Thanks for droppin' in!
All the "weird asks"
1. coffee mugs, teacups, wine glasses, water bottles, or soda cans? -I’m actually obsessed with coffee mugs and tea cups even though I don’t drink coffee nor tea.
2. chocolate bars or lollipops? -Chocolate bars
3. bubblegum or cotton candy? -Cotton Candy!
4. how did your elementary school teachers describe you? -It’s funny because I actually found some of my old report cards recently... they range from “a pleasure to have in class!” to “danger of failing the course” even though my grade for both of those would be an “A” ?
5. do you prefer to drink soda from soda cans, soda bottles, plastic cups or glass cups? -The soda from a bottle from Mexico hits completely different.
6. pastel, boho, tomboy, preppy, goth, grunge, formal or sportswear? -Personally, I don’t dress like any of those but I am attracted to tomboys.
7. earbuds or headphones? -Depends. Mostly, earbuds.
8. movies or tv shows? -Movies.
9. favorite smell in the summer? -All the seasonal smells from the stores!
10. game you were best at in p.e.? -Softball or tennis.
11. what you have for breakfast on an average day? -One slice of toast and one egg.
12. name of your favorite playlist? -I made my friend a playlist called “Emo Turn Up” and I like that one a lot.
13. lanyard or key ring? -Key ring, but I have a lanyard because I tend to leave my purse in the car and that way I can just carry my keys around my neck. Also, my lanyard is Nightmare Before Christmas themed, so she’s beautiful.
14. favorite non-chocolate candy? -Lollipops, actually lol
15. favorite book you read as a school assignment? -Rosemary’s Baby. Although, I kind of got to pick the book for my assignment.
16. most comfortable position to sit in? -One leg is usually elevated while the other has my foot flat on the ground.
17. most frequently worn pair of shoes? -My Chuck Taylor’s!
18. ideal weather? -I have two technically. I love blue skies with a slight breeze but I also love windy rainy weather.
19. sleeping position? -On my side, on leg curled up and the other straight (kind of like how I sit) while I hold a pillow to my chest.
20. preferred place to write (i.e., in a note book, on your laptop, sketchpad, post-it notes, etc.)? -Notebook and post its!
21. obsession from childhood? -Stickers!! Although I never actually stuck them anywhere except on other papers or just left them on their page. I collected them so I didn’t like them getting ugly.
22. role model? -Dita Von Teese!
23. strange habits? -I guess if it’s habit, I probably wouldn’t consider it strange. I do write everything down. Like, everything. I have a list of every movie I’ve ever watched (I had to stop updating it because it was giving me anxiety due to how many movies I watch), I make post it notes that I eventually compile into notebook pages. Any information I never want to lose gets written down somewhere.
24. favorite crystal? Aventurine
25. first song you remember hearing? -It would’ve been something in Spanish. Most likely one of the many songs my mom used to sing to me.
26. favorite activity to do in warm weather? -Although I rarely get to do it: sitting in the sun/going to the beach or a pool. If it’s warm with a breeze I can lay outside for quite some time.
27. favorite activity to do in cold weather? -Watch movies on the couch with a blanket over me.
28. five songs to describe you? -Brown Eyed Girl (the original is nice but I love the Reel Big Fish version), Because I’m Awesome (The Dollyrots), Hot Mess (Cobra Starship), I’m Just a Kid (even though I’m almost 25. Simple Plan), Independent (Webbie)
29. best way to bond with you? -Be open and honest. I love talking about books, movies, and music but talk to me about conspiracy theories and ghost stories and you’ll have my heart. I love when people have stories revolving around their culture. I’m Mexican and we have lots of myths and stories to swap so it’s awesome.
30. places that you find sacred? -A person’s bedroom can be sacred. Call me silly but Disneyland is kind of sacred to me. It hold so many wonderful memories. I only like to share certain spots with certain people sometimes.
31. what outfit do you wear to kick ass and take names? -Probably whatever outfit I have on at the moment. I don’t really plan to kick anyone’s ass let alone want to plan a whole outfit for it. I assume leggings and a t shirt will do?
32. top five favorite vines? -omg I miss vine! I was actually going through vines on YouTube recently... The “Miss Keisha” vine always kills me, any vine with Sarah Baska, anything that Zane and Heath ever made, Jay Versace has really funny vines too, and I still quote the “welcome to Chilis” vine constantly. Picking 5 is way too hard.
33. most used phrase in your phone? -“it be like that sometimes” or “yaaaaaaas”
34. advertisements you have stuck in your head? -The Red Robin commercial and the O’Riley Auto Parts one play in my head on loop at the worst times.
39. lemon cake or lemon meringue pie? -omg why would you make me pick?! Lemon meringue pie though...
41. last person you texted? -Jayla. I need her to wake up so I can tell her about my dream about Beyoncé.
42. jacket pockets or pants pockets? -Por que no los dos?! I like buying men’s jean jackets because they have pockets inside though...
58. four talents you’re proud of having? -I don’t really consider myself as someone with any talent, let alone four, but... A mathematician once taught me how to divide any number by five in my head, I’m pretty good at mimicking certain accents, idk of this counts as a talent but I can drink quite a bit before I actually feel anything, I can recite certain movies down to what song will play during certain scenes, and I would consider myself the ultimate Disneyland tour guide. That’s five but it’s all I can think of so if one doesn’t sound like one, we have an extra.
59. if you were a video game character, what would your catchphrase be? -“Oh shit, here we go again...”
60. if you were a character in an anime, what kind of anime would you want it to be? -I know nothing about anime so I wouldn’t even know. I would want to make a joke about being in the ones that are essentially pornos but I’m probably wrong with that too.
61. favorite line you heard from a book/movie/tv show/etc.? -“The greatest thing you will ever learn is just to love and be loved in return.” Idk if the line comes from elsewhere but I first heard it in the movie Moulin Rouge and it has stuck with me since.
62. seven characters you relate to? -Oh geez, I don’t really relate to any tbh but seven characters I like: Princess Tiana, Shane from The L Word, Theo from the Netflix version of A Haunting of Hill House, Satine from Moulin Rouge, Wall-E, Cassandra from Saved!, and The Grinch (as wonderfully played by Jim Carrey)
69. a fun fact that you don’t know how you learned? -All leaves have symmetry (unless tampered with)
70. left or right handed? -I’m right handed but I use my left hand as dominant for a lot of stuff? It’s weird.
71. least favorite pattern? One that isn’t symmetrical.
