Note
what’s killing me the most is that you gave actual solid advice lmao. like hard facts quote unquote real life knowledge! also ofc generational wealth may not look like generational wealth but I’m sorry anyway you cut it if you are on tumblr in india you are insanely privileged. My family doesn’t have generational wealth and I’m Dalit and whatever problem about being strapped for money aside I KNOW I am insanely privileged. An Internet connection puts you in the top 10% of this goddamn place
Also like!!! It works even if you don't have the money to get a masters abroad, IIT Jodhpur has a digital humanities program, JNU's development studies, labour studies have good placements and even other programs about gender etc get jobs in NGOs/and as HR. TISS will also get you a job. Ashoka, if you have the cash, literally gets socio/history majors placed as analysts in consulting firms. Local engineering colleges can get you placed in TCS and you can build on that. If you took humanities in 12th and are regretting it you can give the pcm exams by NOS and be eligible for engineering entrances.l. you'll be fine even without cutting out everything enjoyable from your life holy shit.

Afternoon repost: The morning post image was of really poor quality. Ick. Had to redress that.
Deep Rising 4 was done during college, and it actually was for a class assignment. It might have been Watercolor II or Illustration I; I can't remember - it was about 25 years ago.
I wanted to experiment with all kinds of things in this piece - the illusion of layering, breaking out of picture boundaries, mixed media, and dealing with a really horrible mistake. I used the sea dragon type of creature because I wanted an easy subject to which I could apply a bunch of experimental handling.
Most of this is watercolor, with some India ink and some colored pencil detailing. But it got really wet. Too wet. I think I had tape on there to keep my edges straight, and I tore the tape off too early. The still-damp top layer of Bristol board RIPPED OFF. I go, "Oh hell oh bugger oh blast oh damn; I just put 10 hours into this damned thing what-am-I-going-to-do?!" I decided to run with it as-was. I ripped it up a little more to make the edges irregular. I spattered paint everywhere. I ripped and scuffled a bit more. THERE; now it looked like I meant to do that. The oh-bugger moment became a usable textural effect. (This turns out to be one of the most important lessons I learned during my college education - it certainly wouldn't be the last time that I had to seriously ad lib to save a project from the burn pile.)
The piece was unusually well-received, especially with the ruined-it-then-saved-it story that I told as part of my in-class artist statement and critique. I later showed it at a summer SF convention and earned an award for it being nifty and interesting (even without the story).

My Response for https://vt.tiktok.com/ZS2FL2KF9/
I appreciate Mr. Jiven’s concerns regarding the misuse of creative grants by some film producers—a well-known issue within our industry. However, I must respectfully disagree with many of his other views.
I’m compelled to respond here because his statements are overly generic, factually inaccurate, and misleading. Since the release of *Jagat*, a narrative has persisted, associating the film with box-office failure. Whenever young filmmakers attempt to create films in the vein of *Jagat*, certain industry insiders perpetuate this narrative, effectively undermining such efforts. It’s time to dispel this myth. I don’t enjoy addressing these issues publicly, as it may come across as self-promotion, but I hope you view this as a case study instead.
1. *Jagat* and Box Office
Firstly, I dislike terms like "Box Office" or "Art movie." There is art in every movie. The correct term is "Art house" film. A film is simply a film—either it’s good or bad, whether it moves you or not. These terms were coined by business interests, but for clarity, I’ll use "Box Office" when discussing *Jagat*.
Contrary to popular belief, *Jagat* was a box-office success in its own right, as some cinema exhibitors have told me. When *Jagat* was released in 2015, censorship was much stricter, leading to an 18+ rating, which cut our potential audience in half. We were allocated only 10 cinemas, compared to the 50+ cinemas given nowadays to Malaysian Tamil films. Despite these challenges, we collected RM 300k from just 10 cinemas, and there were no screenings in major cities like Ipoh, and only one in Penang Island. *Jagat* ran for nine weeks at Nu Sentral, making it the longest-running Malaysian film there for several years.
When discussing film revenue, we must also consider other sources like festival screening fees, private screening fees, TV stations, and OTT platforms. *Jagat* had over 60 private screenings in Malaysian colleges and was the first Malaysian Tamil film to be broadcast on TV3 for two years. It was also made available in 132 countries on Netflix—the only Malaysian Tamil film to achieve such a wide release. In contrast, other Malaysian Tamil films on Netflix are typically available in just 3-4 countries, mostly in Southeast Asia and India.
2. I’m Not Just a Film Festival Director
I’ve never claimed to be just a film festival director. If my goal was solely to make films for festivals, my approach would be entirely different. My aim is to tell local stories that resonate with my community while also reaching international audiences through film festivals. My last three films are genre films with an independent spirit—*Jagat* was a crime coming-of-age film, my second was a satirical romantic drama, and my third is a crime heist road movie. So, to clarify, I am not a film festival director alone. Even if I were, some films that only circulate in festivals can generate more revenue through screening fees than they would at the box office. In simple terms, making certain types of festival films can still be profitable.
3. I Do Make Bigger Budget Films
Who said I don’t make bigger budget films? My second film, *Neer Mel Neruppu/Fire On Water*, and my third, *Machai*, both had budgets around RM 1 million. Thanks to the profile I built with *Jagat*, I secured RM 650K through MyCreative Venture for my second film and RM 600K through Finas for *Machai*. We topped up the remaining funds ourselves. In an era where it’s challenging to raise even RM 250K for a Malaysian Tamil film, we managed to secure RM 1 million for each film. This was possible because we made our first film, *Jagat*, with RM 300K using our own funds and without government support. I didn’t wait for a higher budget to make my first move.
4.Good Films Can Be Made on Lower Budgets
An experienced director might say you can’t make a good film on a RM 100K budget. That’s wrong. Some of my industry friends have proven otherwise. One of my upcoming projects has a budget of around RM 100K, to be shot on an iPhone with non-actors. It depends on the project.
5. Budget Isn’t Everything
The film *Prebet Sapu* was made on a RM 300K budget, shot every weekend with different cameras borrowed from friends, which is why it’s in black and white. Another Malaysian director, Jacky Yeap, shot his first feature with a RM 150K budget. Last year, as a jury member for BMW Shorties, we selected a film with humble technical quality but a strong story. So, Malaysian Indian filmmakers, please stop using limited budgets as an excuse. This mindset is a curse because we tend to set the artificial standards of Kollywood’s cinematography and production design as the benchmark.
I hope these facts and my opinions help dispel some myths. Be honest with your art, stay persistent, and doors will open despite all the hurdles. Thank you for reading.

Life At an Engineering College In India | Arya College
Engineering students in India face a unique set of challenges and experiences throughout their four-year degree program. From the intense competition to get into a top engineering college to the rigorous coursework and pressure to perform well, the life of an engineering student in India is anything but easy.
The Competitive Entrance Exams
The journey begins with the highly competitive entrance exams like JEE Main and JEE Advanced. Students spend years preparing for these exams, often joining coaching classes from as early as Class 8. The competition is fierce, with lakhs of students vying for a limited number of seats in the top engineering colleges.
Coursework And Academics
Once admitted, engineering students face a grueling academic schedule. Classes run from 10 am to 5:30 pm, leaving little time for anything else. The curriculum is heavy on theory, with a focus on subjects like Mathematics, Physics, and Chemistry. Assignments and projects are constant, with students often pulling all-nighters to complete them.
Branch Selection
After the first year, students have to select their engineering branch. This is often a matter of chance, based on their rank in the entrance exam. Many end up in branches they are not interested in, simply because their rank wasn't high enough to get their preferred choice.
Campus Life
Despite the academic pressure, engineering students do manage to have a vibrant campus life. Most colleges have active student clubs and organizations, where students can pursue their interests in sports, cultural activities, and technical projects. Fests and events are a highlight, providing a much-needed break from the monotony of classes.
Placements
The final year is all about placements. Companies visit campuses to recruit students, with the process starting as early as July/August. The competition is intense, with students vying for a limited number of coveted jobs. Those who don't get placed in the first few days often have to settle for less preferred options.
Challenges And Contradictions
The life of an engineering student in India is full of challenges and contradictions. Many students end up in engineering not out of passion, but due to parental pressure or the perception of better job prospects. This leads to a lack of interest and motivation, which is reflected in the high dropout rates and poor quality of education. Moreover, the focus on theory over practical skills means that many engineering graduates lack the necessary skills to succeed in the job market. The pressure to perform well academically often comes at the cost of developing soft skills and pursuing other interests. Despite these challenges, the life of an engineering student in India is not without its rewards. The sense of camaraderie and support among classmates, the opportunity to learn and grow, and the potential for a bright future make it all worthwhile. Those who manage to navigate the challenges and stay true to their passion often go on to become successful engineers and entrepreneurs.
What Role Does Practical Training Play In Enhancing The Employability Of Engineering Graduates
Based on the search results, practical training plays a significant role in enhancing the employability of engineering graduates in India:
Practical Training and Employability: Studies have shown that engineering students who engage in practical training during their studies tend to have higher employability prospects after graduation. Practical training helps students develop job-relevant skills and apply their theoretical knowledge in real-world scenarios.
Mismatch Between Industry Needs and Academic Curriculum: There is often a mismatch between the skills required by industry and the curriculum taught in engineering colleges. Practical training helps bridge this gap by exposing students to industry practices and expectations.
Developing Soft Skills: In addition to technical skills, employers also value soft skills like problem-solving, decision-making, communication, and teamwork. Practical training programs provide opportunities for students to develop these crucial employability skills.
Experiential Learning Approaches: Institutes like BITS Pilani have incorporated experiential learning approaches, such as structured courses on business communication, professional presentations, and group discussions, to better equip students with the skills demanded by industry.
Competitive Programming: Initiatives that encourage competitive programming among engineering students have also been found to improve their problem-solving abilities and overall employability.
In summary, practical training, experiential learning, and competitive programming play a vital role in enhancing the employability of engineering graduates in India by helping them develop industry-relevant technical and soft skills.
There are so many colleges in India that give practical training to Engineering students but Arya College of Engineering & IT is The best Engineering College in Rajasthan.

Adapting Communication Styles for Successful Business Negotiations in Pune
Communication is not easy as it seems, else there wouldn’t have been so many misunderstandings, failure to express our thoughts, inability to convince or negotiate with people in our lives.
Negotiation is simple words means the communication happening between 2 parties, where both are trying to influence each other and get the best for themselves, where the final conclusion should be achieved. Small kids negotiate with their parents to buy a new toy, by throwing tantrums or crying or by puppy face, while the parents disagree. However, the conclusion is reached when that toy is either purchased or not purchased. Similarly, college kids negotiate with their parents to send them for a Goa trip, in return they will study for extra hours and get extra marks.
Business Communication in business negotiations is more crucial because its success and failures will affect the top line of the entire organisation
Let’s understand business negotiation with an example
Nagesh is writing an email to his Boss asking for 2 weeks of leave this month, while he had already taken 2 weeks of leave last month as well. There is a 99% chance that the Boss will not allow Nagesh’s leave. This is where Nagesh has to negotiate well and where effective business communication comes into the picture.
Here is how Nagesh needs to email: Dear Boss, Last month I took 2 weeks of leave for my sister’s wedding and thank you for giving me that long duration of leaves. This month as it happens, 2 of my best friends have returned from the USA after 10 long years. These are the only  2 real friends I have in my life and we had promised ourselves in college to have a 10 day hike in Himachal, when we have enough money. For good or bad, fortunes have striked this month, where in the USA returned friends are free and we have the money as well. Hence I would request a 2 weeks leave this month again
However, here is what I am doing to mitigate my absence. I briefed Ashish on all work and will be in continuous touch with him for all dependencies. I will be rejoining the office 10 days before our current client’s deliverable and will personally fill all the gaps that would have happened. I am assuring you of zero gaps and errors in the deliverable of our current client.
Looking for a positive response from your end
Above was a successful business communication via email for negotiation.
Effect of culture in effective communication
The biggest mistake one makes in business communication is that we assume everyone in India is like them.
What might be pretentious to us, might be purely sublime and celebration to others. Eg – South action cinema may appear pretentious and so will their non-conventional looking actors. But they are demi-gods for people in the south.
What words might be casual and normal to us, might be extremely sensitive to the other person Eg – Some colloquial words in North India which are lovingly and casually addressed to each other, might seem highly offensive for other non-North Indians This is a cultural difference!
Culture changes in India every 200 kms. Without studying the culture of the other person, it will always be difficult to have successful negotiations.
How to enable effective business communication in Pune particularly
Here is the thing about Pune. It was a small and quiet city in the 1990s until the IT boom happened in Pune. Post the 2000s a lot of IT and other industrialization happened. Hence most of the people living in Pune currently, those doing business and also those who are owners of business are mostly not actual natives of Pune.
Hence for effective business communication in Pune, you need to find the actual lover affair of the person with Pune. When did he shift to Pune, why did he shift to pune, how much is he emotionally attached to Pune, etc!
In short, you need to be aware of 2 cultures – culture from which the person hails from and what is his current affiliated culture with Pune
Beware of not hurting the sentiments of the both cultures in your business communication
Example on how to negotiate in business w.r.t culture
One important aspect in negotiating in business is being aware of the other person’s culture
Rita is a sales head going for a sales meeting with his client, Arun, the CEO of a manufacturing company. Rita has researched before the meeting that Arun hails from Jaipur and has been settled in Pune since past 15 years. Thus Arun is an amalgamation of the cultures of Jaipur and even Pune. The emotions that Arun might get swayed away could be dependent on both cultures. These emotions are extremely crucial to be leveraged in the negotiation stage. In the give and take part of negotiation, Rita needs to mention the benefits his manufacturing company could get; and also mention the non-tangible benefits associated with Jaipur and Pune
Conclusion
Effective business communication’s success in negotiation depends on several factors, one of which is the culture. More you understand and respect that culture, the higher is your chance to leverage it for your negotiation success.

The Role of Regulatory Authorities in Aircraft Maintenance Engineering Education
Aircraft maintenance engineers (AMEs) are responsible for making sure the aircraft are maintained to the highest standards, and supervising the overhaul, inspection, repair, or modification of an aircraft and its components. As a result, one of the most appealing careers after 10+2 (science) is AME.
Students are choosing the Aircraft Maintenance Engineering degree because of the expanding breadth and improved employment chances in the field of aircraft maintenance engineers. The Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) of the Indian government issues the AME licence. An AME licence can help individuals find jobs in the aviation industry. Candidates who obtain the licence can work in either private or public aviation sectors anywhere in the globe for far greater pay than they could if they had a degree in the same profession.
AME institutions offering AME degrees have been established in India and certified by the DGCA. Students who have a thorough understanding of aeroplanes are trained at these top DGCA-approved AME Colleges in India. IAE Bhopal is the top government AME College in India for offering the Aircraft Maintenance Engineering programme.
DGCA Approval
DGCA clearance is required for an AME training institute to operate in India. Students studying aircraft maintenance engineering who attend an AME College approved by the DGCA will have an advantage over those who do not. The DGCA AME licence is one specific type of authorization provided by the DGCA, which is in charge of regulating civil aviation. This agency investigates events and situations about aviation and grants authorization to the companies offering AME training. Students who fulfil the prerequisites can apply for a licence through DGCA, which also conducts the licencing examinations. Without a licence, a student cannot work as an aircraft maintenance engineer.
The DGCA is in charge of all facets of Indian civil aviation in addition to awarding AME licences and certificates. The civil aviation regulatory authority, the DGCA, is primarily concerned with matters concerning aircraft and aviation safety. It oversees the implementation of civil aviation laws, air safety regulations, and airworthiness standards, in addition to regulating airline operations to and from India. The Director General of Civil Aviation, Ministry of Civil Aviation, Government of India, has authorised the Institute of Aeronautics & Engineering for the Mechanical and Avionics Category by CAR-147 and CAR-66 regulations.
The Director-General of Civil Aviation is the regulatory agency that grants all licences, permits, and certifications to engineers, pilots, training centres, and maintenance facilities. Additionally, maintenance tasks including servicing, upgrading, evaluating, testing, and installation, among others, may only be performed by authorised engineers working in an approved, recognised, as well as legally licenced aircraft maintenance facility.
The Institute of Aeronautics & Engineering, Bhopal is a researcher and innovator in the field of aviation technology. In 2002, our Institute was granted permission by the Government of India's Directorate General of Civil Aviation to provide courses in aircraft maintenance engineering. A DGCA-accredited institution may provide an AME education, and IAE Bhopal is one of the best AME schools in India with this certification. These accredited schools offer curricula that have been authorised by the DGCA and administer tests to verify programme completion.

Alright motherfuckers, i have been feeling the urge to rant for quite a few days, so here it is, my weird, fucked up, rant/question ✨shizzazl.✨
Before we begin, I would like to inform ya'll that I'm a teenage (17-19) Indian girl. That is, I'm a brown, POC girl.
(so be ready cause this is gonna have a lot of sensitive, bordering controversial opinions, so DON'T LIKE, DON'T READ PLS)
Now-
First things first, what the fuck is wrong with our planet? Like, I'm not a nihilist or whatever, am I bit pessimistic? Well, yes. But other than that I'm not very dark minded, so like if I'm asking wtf is wrong with our world, you know something is definitely wrong. Like I can list like 10 things wrong in the world rn, off the top of my head.
1. Wars and disaster
2. Corrupt governments
3. Insufficient health care
4. Collapsing economy
5. Fucked up environment
6. Lack of gun control and mass shootings
7. Racism
8. Women's lack of safety/sexism
9. Homophobia and queer community hatred
10. Lack of food and and water.
This is all just off the top of my head. Like where the hell did we go wrong that this is what we have come down to. Let's dive deeper shall we?
We are currently in the middle of World War 3. Now hear me out, you're probably like-"Uh no,cause if we were we would know right?"
WRONG.
We don't know shit cause at the moment we are not directly affected by said war. Think about it like this, in World war 1 aka the first world war we had, there were 2 sides right? The allied powers and the central powers. And same in 2nd world war with allied and axis powers. Guess what? We have them now too. Russia and Ukraine and Israel and Palestine. If we divide it in the good and bad, like we humans have a habit of doing, it is Russia and Israel on one side, and Ukraine and Palestine on the other. All we need is 2 more countries to join one-one side, preferably England, USA, France or Canada, and we're done, we're in World war 3. Like what is up with that.
In my college history textbook, which I was studying recently cause I'm in the middle of my exams, I noticed in the Cold War chapter, that it was written that America became the foremost Superpower in the world, so much so that it had the power to acknowledge China as a State. And it made me wonder why? What the actual fuck is so special about that messed up country?
Ok imma make u question ur whole life now ok? U ready? Here we go.
We all know about USA, aka the LAND OF FREEDOM, right? The whole American Revolution, Fight for Freedom and all that?
What made it like that?
Like, from my perspective, all I see is white people, who went to an untouched, perfectly fine land, conquered it, killed and enslaved the real independent, original populace of that country, destroyed their absolutely beautiful and much advanced culture, declared that land as their own, and then got pissed off at their own king for excessive TAXES, and decided that they want independence?
Let me get this absolutely straight. These already INDEPENDENT, PRIVILEGED people came to another country, took the ACTUAL INDEPENDENCE of the people living there, and then fought a long war against their own king for this so called "Independence" and resulted in creating the World's Greatest Superpower, which honestly is today's one of the most fucked up countries which is honest to god falling apart at the seams?
Honestly, it makes me feel just strange. Like I don't even have words for this.
It's the same with England. These people came, conquered, enslaved, killed, tortured, and robbed, like blind looted, India and multiple other countries, ruled for over 200 years and then left after having squeezed a total of nearly $50 trillion from us? $50 TRILLION. Our country would be living on cloud 9 if we had even half this amount today. But we don't cause it was taken from us.
And sure the actions of our ancestors should not be blamed on the current generation. BUT the current generation is no better. These countries are still not making up for their crimes. America is currently attacking and warring with multiple Asian countries but of course, no one cares.
How bout the Panama Papers ? Such a huge scandal, the amount of money hidden and evaded, but the results? Comparatively, nothing.
The presidents of these countries are, quite frankly, useless.
In today's world, in almost 90 percentage of all countries' councils, governments, and senates, only old men above the age of 60, i.e. the age of senior citizens, work and function. Why is that?
If we all agree that the youngsters are the future, then why is the future in the hands of men who are ten seconds away from their damn graves?
USA- Biden is 81 years old.
Trump is 77 years old.
Britain- King Charles is 75 years old.
India- Narendra Modi is 73 years old.
Canada- Justin Trudeau is 52 years old.
South Korea- Yoon Suk Yeol is 63 years old.
China- Xi Jinping is 70 years old.
I think this is rather concerning.

A Slight Detour (Super Sim Update)
I was worried about potentially getting bored with grinding rabbithole careers, and that's exactly what I found happening... not to mention, I just got Growing Together and am now also concerned about burnout.
So, I've taken Stella on a little detour.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
That's right, we're going to university... x10, or so. If I get distinguished degrees to boost all the careers I have yet to do, I can start the careers near the top (Level 8/10, I think it is?), eliminating most of the "grinding" part and, hopefully, also avoiding burnout.
And to avoid giving myself burnout from repeating the university experience so many times, I'm using the Shorter University Degrees mod by PeridotSims to bring each degree down to just four classes - which still makes university a challenge, because there's absolutely no room for error to still get a good GPA. (I've discovered that this does take some finagling with the various versions of the mod to get the game to allow me to re-enroll. But it does work.)
Currently, Stella has earned Distinguished Degrees in Biology and Economics from Foxbury University, and she's currently enrolled in the Distinguished Degree for Fine Art at Britechester University. I'm sort of working on the Academic Aspiration while I'm at it, but not focusing on it too much, since I will eventually have to go back to uni for probably the regular length (or at least longer than just 4 classes) to do the Soccer Team and E-Sports Competitor "careers." And I'll probably want to join the secret society, too. You know, the whole college experience or whatever.
Another thing I've discovered about university is that Sims can no longer "cook" anything at college - not even salads when an appropriate refrigerator and counterspace are available. So that sucks.
(Speaking of cooking, WTF even is this bug?)
Tumblr media Tumblr media
(These are "de-stressing potions" that NPCs are obsessed with making. They were coming onto my lot and using my grill, until I placed a huge planter in the way - now I guess they're going to the public grills accessible from my lot. I ended up using the "destroy object" cheat on these, because I already have like 15 of them in my fridge that were made on my lot.)
ANYWAY...
I didn't want any randos moving into Stella's house while she's away at uni, so her BFF, Aoi, moved in. And got engaged to one of Stella's exes, Nate, who I was considering having Stella get back together with instead of continuing with the married fiancé debacle, grrr...
Tumblr media
But it's fine, everything is FINE. (It would be much easier to accept if they weren't so effing cute, you know?)
I mentioned I recently got Growing Together - I was looking forward to having a Kyle Kyleson stayover; however, I got my long-lost-cousin, India, instead.
Tumblr media
After one day of this, Stella left for Britechester, so I don't know how that works for stayovers, but that's Aoi's problem now, isn't it? Maybe it's payback for getting engaged to Stella's ex... sigh
Speaking of Britechester, here's another fun bug - "swimming" in the river:
