5. Special ID/Hacthdate

I don't have any fun ID dragons that really stand out (no palindromes or anything like that), but i have been slowly collecting dragons that were born on my bday :3 ive got 4 of them so far!! (though only Viola and Thunderbird are presentable, i still need to scatter and gene the other two lol)

14. Biggest pet peeve/nitpick

Not being able to dress ancients T.T I totally get why its a thing on the art side...and I know it inspires more interesting skins and gene/colour combos from the limitations of not being able to dress them. but still... LET ME DRESS THEMMMMMM

I loooove oldies!!! I've been a part of the old oaks discord for ages now, and its been terrible for my lair space xD i cant resist rescuing dragons and giving them a new lease at life in retirement. even if theyre butt ugly sometimes </3 they deserve a good home <3

Depending on the size of the dragon the last 1-2 inches of horn is keratin so you could get a piercing in that section without too much a hassle. Trimming/tipping that last little bit can be necessary when the horn threatens to grow into the skin/eye (ingrown). Usually done with a saw wire and does not usually require pain medications. Anything deeper is typically done very young when the horn is just starting to bud (which like you said, would be very screwy with bodily anatomy but some cultures may do it) and should be done with local anesthesia, infection control, and pain meds... and now I am wondering about Lightning dragons being able to do nerve blocks.

There are some species of animal in which the horn is entirely keratin (does not have a bone core) like rhinos and it will grow back over time. The closest we got to that I think is Pearlcatchers, which with their vanity they probably have many, many different modifications and piercings. As long as they don't damage the base blood supply, they can get away with it.

Antlers are a different story altogether. Deer once they shed their velvet and the antlers become calcified, they are essentially "dead". So, they could have multiple piercings without issue- just as long as you do it after the velvet has fully shed. Fucking up an antler during velvet will cause deformities that may last multiple growth seasons and sheds. Also learned today that antlers can improve hearing in moose, so new headcanon that Gnarlhorns= super hearing. The only species so far that specifically have antlers that shed are Gaolers and Imperials (though we also have the antler apparel and Dusthides with their Antlers gene)

Fin piercing in Fae is extremely discouraged since it can lead to fin collapse and interfere with communication. Mirrors with their rigid fins I could see them having multiple gauges and enjoying the more extreme mods. Sandsurge and Bogsneaks with their softer fins that are used for temperature/ harvesting energy are heavily disadvised from using piercings- but I could see them being a bit rebellious and getting a few.

What do you think about wing piercings? Yah or nah?

Last post got me thinking about horns and okay, people love to draw dragons with piercings through their horns and make accents with whitespace illusions of holes through the horns. I also do this, it looks badass, but horns are bone? They're alive bone? And I've been trying to figure out how to make it work that's not only "magic".

There are all kinds of crazy horn modifications out there that just do things to the keratin - dying, carving, tattoos, caps, getting stuff enameled or embedded in the surface, as well as surface-level piercings - but having something go through the horn itself is Hard Core. That's an extreme level of body modification. It's the kind of thing you have to seek out a specialist for, and vet them thoroughly. If surface level relief carving is getting an earlobe pierced, then an all-through horn piercing is like corneal tattooing or those guys who implant magnets in their fingers.

The procedure is performed with something like a biopsy needle, but larger, and involves plague magic to control pain and sterilize and shape the wound. Even with numbing, it hurts like hell and the infection risk is high. Since you can't just leave your marrow exposed to the air, the opening is fitted with something like a gauge made of bioceramic or, less ideally, a body-safe plastic. It's common for these to made to look like other materials, or to have a veneer applied after it heals.

Recovery is simplified by the fact that there's no open wound and no joint involved, but it still hurts a lot and has to be kept an eye on. This usually includes follow-up visits with the artist or a doctor to check for signs of infection and administer medicine or magic to promote bone healing. The worst-case scenario is finding a crack in either the horn or the gauge, since that means potentially bacteria inside, I emphasize, your bones. The patient may or may not be provided sealant or disinfectant to put around the edge of the gauge, but it's unclear whether these actually help.

Once it's healed, you can either leave it as a hole or put stuff in it. Rings are a classic, as are various dangly things and plugs with cool designs.

I Love a desaturated rosettes! I got very confused for a while wondering Why she had No Eyes but its just that the Sanddune Rags match so well you can't even really tell they are there! I think she looks nice and very apt for a Spooky Winter Ghost she is exactly how she Should be, y'know? The more I look at this, and the more I notice the one (1) knocked-over candle just clearly not causing most of the problems in the background, the more I realize that the shop was probably already on fire and has been on fire for a long time, and Frank is more concerned about the wax getting on the carpet

I hope someday there's a Banescale NPC with a specific shop for all the 'flash fire' sales, and his shop could literally be on fire because, lacking hands, he dropped a candle, so now he needs to get all the stuff out at a discount

6. The forever a project dragon

I actually finished my forever project dragon this year! Only took me like 7 years!!! My anniversary hatch from 2017, Dionysos. I made the expensive expensive scry and that why he just sat in my project tab until I got gifted coatl scroll and I got the kick to start really working on him!

The oldest sitter in my project tab currently is BananaBones, 3 years old.... they are only missing tapir but they were also missing from my project tracker so that would explain why they have been so overlooked...

well the WORST movie i've seen lately, I don't know what it was called, but it was a historical spy movie starring Colin Firth I believe...anyway that shit was so boring I had to walk out 15 minutes in (didn't go to the cinema for that my parents were just wanting to watch something on netflix and they picked..that)

as for the best...well a few months ago I rewatched Napoleon Dynamite..still love that so much haha

Monarch Butterflies! starting with a butterfly is very basic but dsfgsfd they provided lots of childhood merriment and wonder and always make me happy to see c: and i have a special place in my heart for milkweeds as well because i associate the two haha

and somewhat related, Wooly bear catepillars! another childhood fave. i just adore fuzzy things if you couldn't tell fdgsf. they grow into Isabella Tiger Moths which i actually didn't know but they are cool too c:

umm gosh i think it may be how easy the dressing room / scrying workshp are to use. i could just design fake dudes forever with ease. no other petsite has given me that. obvs they could be easier but theyre the easiest ive seen so far.

I think Ram would be great in the horror genre because they don't scare easily, are quite grounded, practical, and calm in high stress environments.
