Ian closed his eyes, drinking in the sweet smell of wildflowers and sunshine. The day was still young, the sun’s early rays filtering down through the leaves onto the forest floor. The soft sound of birdsong filled his ears. 

Tommy watched the smile play across Ian's face and smiled himself. 

“What’s going on in that mind of yours?” he asked. 

Ian opened his eyes and turned his gaze to Tommy. “I’m just really happy to be here, is all. This place is beautiful.”

“It is, isn’t it?” Tommy almost whispered, letting his eyes drift from Ian’s gorgeous face to the landscape around him. In the distance, he spotted a doe watching them as they made their way along the quiet path. 

“Hey, loo-” but she was gone, darting back into the underbrush. Ian turned to him, an expectant smile on his face.

“What is it?” he asked. 

“There was a deer,” he said, pointing to the now empty clearing in the trees. 

“Oh, I would have liked to see that. I just can’t get over how pretty it is here,” Ian sighed. But his eyes didn’t leave Tommy’s.

“Yes… and yet it still pales in comparison to you.” 

Ian’s eyes widened almost as much as his smile. 

“Hey, you wouldn’t wanna… dance… would you?” Ian asked shyly. Tommy couldn’t help but laugh in surprise. 

“Here, in the forest?” he asked. 

“Well… yeah. This place, it just makes me so happy. Makes me want to dance!” Ian replied, laughing a bit himself. 

Tommy smiled. How could he ever tell this man no? He pulled his phone from his pocket and navigated to his music app. He hit “play” on Sigrid’s Known You Forever Ian’s eyes lit up, and together they danced through the trees, the sunshine their spotlight.

And his high school picture when he was like 16....

I thought it would be nice to see some memories of Tommy and get to know him a little battler till the show comes back around.😇😍🥰☺️ plus it’s really nice to see more of Ian’s story and back ground.

The storm from Glimmerbrook rolled slowly into the valley. Thunder rumbled, and the sky flashed as if full of fireworks.

Inside, the group gathered, unbothered by the angry weather outside. 

They talked, laughed, and ate. As the storm raged, they bonded.

Tommy was woken from his light, drifting sleep, by the sound of sobs. He sat up and looked around the dark room, a little confused. He hadn’t expected to be able to hear the things going on in rooms around him in this fancy house, and so his first thought upon waking was “is someone in my room..?” But no. His room was still and quiet, just as it had been when he curled into his bed. The sobs were distant and muffled. It didn’t take Tommy too long to realize they were coming from the room next door to his. 

Tommy tossed back the blankets and padded quietly to the door next to his own. He could hear Ian’s voice, muffled by the heavy wooden door. At least Corey wasn’t alone. 

He stood there for a moment, wondering if he should enter, as well. Tommy had always hated the sound of crying, it had always been his first instinct to soothe the tears. 

After a moment, Tommy shook himself. No, this was private. A moment between Ian and Corey. He should leave them to it. Quietly, he returned to his room just as the sound of crying began to ease. He smiled to himself. Yes, Ian had this under control. He’d pretend he had never heard anything at all.

Ian stood on the large balcony, feeling the breeze on his face. His heart fluttered in his chest as he looked around at the 10 men before him. They were all kind, handsome, and respectable men. But today, he had to break two of their hearts. How had he gotten himself into this? 

Claire stepped forward and placed her hand on Ian's shoulder. 

"You can do this, Ian," she whispered to him. Her smile gave him courage, and he nodded. 

Taking a deep breath, Ian stepped forward and said, "You may attempt to extinguish your flames now."

10 men blew on their candles. 10 flames flickered. 2 went out.

Claire sat on the front steps on the mansion, her face in her hand.  It had been a crazy day. As soon as she saw Ian and his candidates out the door, the surprises had begun. Now, she sat waiting for the boys to return in the quiet of the night.

It wasn’t long before their limo turned the corner. Claire stood and brushed herself off, making sure her outfit was in place. This would, after all, be on camera. The makeup crew had spent over and hour fixing her after the mess of this day, and she wanted them to be proud of their work.

The limo pulled to the curb and one by one, the handsome men tumbled out. They all looked happy, laughing as they chatted with each other. Ian was the last to exit the vehicle, and he smiled up at Claire. 

“Heya, sweetie! What’s up?” Behind his smile, Claire could see the confusion in his eyes. He knew something was up. 

“Good evening, gentlemen. I have an announcement to make, if you all wouldn’t mind giving me your attention for just a moment.” 

The crowd, for indeed it was a crowd, fell silent. Every eye was on her. It was a good thing Claire had never felt any stage fright. 

“Shortly after you left for Club Chez this morning, a water pipe burst in the upstairs bathroom. Why this happened is still unclear.” There were gasps all around, emotions seemed to range from mild surprise to sheer terror. Claire took a breath, silently prayed to the Watcher that she wouldn’t have any emotional breakdowns on her hands, and continued before anyone could truly panic.

“Please, don’t worry! We have gathered all of your belongings. Clothes and such have been sent for cleaning. Anyone who brought a laptop or other electronic device, we made sure to get those out before any damage could be done. Truly, if your things were not on the floor of your bedroom, they are fine! However… We are concerned about structural damage to the mansion, as well as damage done to the appliances in the kitchen. Not to mention we’re down at least one bathroom.” Claire was losing the crowd, she could tell. Murmurs were rising. She decided to toss the script she had been given out the window. 

“Hey, hey! Guys! Really, it’s okay. I promise. This is honestly a good thing for us all! The Bachelor has another mansion… In Del Sol Valley.”

“Hang on… We get to stay in the Del Sol Valley mansion!?” Ian was almost bouncing up and down in excitement. Claire laughed.

“Yes, Ian! Sure, we’re saying goodbye to the Oasis Springs Mansion. But honestly? The Del Sol Mansion is easily twice this size and has a view! Please, get excited! I sure am!”

"Hey, Ian. You okay in here?" Tommy peered around the corner into the dark sitting room. Ian sat on the couch, his head in his hands. He didn't look up or respond to Tommy in any way.

Tommy hesitated in the doorway, wondering if he should go get Claire. She always knew just the right thing to say to Ian. But no, if he was going to be Ian's husband one day, he needed to be able to handle these times. He took a breath, squared his shoulders, and entered the dark room to join Ian on the couch.

"Hey. Talk to me. What's wrong?" He put his hand on Ian's back and spoke quietly. There was a moment of silence when Tommy wondered if Ian was simply going to ignore him. But he remained patient, giving Ian time.

Finally, Ian broke the quiet. "I hurt them… both of them. And I'm going to have to keep doing it. Watcher, the look on Kian's face when his candle went out…" he trailed off again, and in the dark Tommy thought he might have seen a tear glistening on his cheek. 

"Ian, we all knew what we were signing up for when we came here. We knew that the chances of us actually winning your heart weren't that great. And look, your happiness matters. You have to do what's right for you."

As Tommy finished, Ian finally looked up at him. He was smiling, despite the tear that was lingering there, after all. 

"Thank you, Tommy. You're sweet. It's just hard, is all. Sorry you had to see me this way, sweetie."

"Don't apologize. I want to get to know every side of you, especially the side that's so kind, he cries because he hurt someone else's feelings. It's pretty cute, honestly."

Ian laughed and bumped his shoulder into Tommy. 

"Oh hush, sweetie, before you make me blush."

Ian looked around the crowded TV room and smiled. Everyone was so content together, gathered around the TV, watching the rom-com playing there. Yesterday had been a wonderful day, bonding with each other them, and watching them bond with each other. 

In just a few hours, elimination would occur, and with it, heartache. Ian was dreading it. How could he not? There wasn’t a single man here that he felt ready to part with. But he knew he had to. Keeping up with 11 guys was exhausting. He felt sure that keeping up with 9 would be almost as tiring, but that was a problem for another day. 

“You okay over there?” Tommy called, seeing the tension on Ian’s face. Angelo, sitting next to him, put a hand on his shoulder. 

“You worried about later?” He asked. Ian just nodded.

“It’s okay, y’know. None of us are going to be angry. We know we can’t all stay.” Jai assured him.

“And we also know that even if we get sent home, it’s not like you’re going to forget any of us. We’ll all stay friends, right?” Magnus’ voice was encouraging. There was nodding and words of agreement all through the room. 

“Thanks, sweetie. You’re all just amazing. I’m so grateful I got to meet and get to know each and every one of you. I can’t wait to see what the future holds.” Ian smiled and rose from his spot on the couch. “But for now, I think I need a bit of time alone… to think.”
