Do I feel fulfilled? Do I feel empty? Who knows. All I do know is that I need to be on ao3 immediately.

Butterflies swirled around in your stomach as you kept your eyes on the road ahead of you. Your hands were getting sweaty and you were sure that if you needed to take a turn right now your hands would slip off the steering wheel. Nerves were consuming you to the point that not even the soft music from the radio could keep your mind off what was about to happen.
“Nervous, love?” Ben asked, a small smile on his lips as his green eyes glanced from the road to you. Despite the gps telling you to stay on the highway for a few miles until your exit and the fact that you knew where you were going, you kept your eyes glued to the empty highway lanes as if it was packed with cars.
“How’d you know?” You breathed out, a small smile forming on your face as Ben chuckled.
“Well, love, you’re gripping the steering wheel so hard I think you’re gonna break it if you don’t relax your grip a little bit.” He grinned, making you laugh lightly and relax your hands. “What’s going on in that pretty little head of yours?”
“‘S just..I’ve never exactly brought anyone home to meet my family before and I mean I told them you were coming but they don’t even know it’s you that’s coming! And you’re older than me so what if that comes up and-”
“Babe I’m not that much older than you.” Ben chuckled. “Besides, it’s not your fault they don’t know who I am. Plus, it’ll be kinda nice going somewhere and meeting people as myself and not as someone who’s been in movies.”
“That’s the thing, though. They’ll probably recognize you the minute you step through the door. And I don’t know what their reactions will be.” You whined, making Ben chuckle again.
“Think they’ll be good reactions?” He asked, rubbing his thumb over your thigh lightly in an effort to help you relax.
“Think it may be overwhelming and I don’t want you to be overwhelmed.”
“You’re too cute.” He smiled. “We’ll deal with that if it comes to it. Don’t you worry about that, my love.”
You smiled and glanced at him for a second, before turning your attention back to the road and getting off at the right exit.
On the way to your house, you gave Ben a mini tour of your hometown, pointing out where you went to high school and where you and your friends would go grab food after school or after a performance you were in.
It was the usual mundane things, but Ben looked out the passenger side window and listened as you told him the significance of whatever you were telling him.
Finally, after trying to push off the inevitable, you pulled up to your childhood home.
Turning off the car, you sighed, grabbing the keys and unlocking the back of the car before turning to Ben.
“You ready?” You asked, making him nod.
“Are you ready?” He checked, holding one of your hands in his own, running his thumb across your knuckles.
“As ready as I’ll ever be.” You smiled softly. “Let’s get the things from the back and head in.”
The two of you grabbed your bags from the trunk, Ben closing it behind you and following you through the garage, pausing at the door to allow you to open it.
“Hi mom, hi y/sd/n!” You greeted, giving them each a hug as your mom opened the door.
“Hi honey, oh we missed you! And oh! You must be Ben!” Your mom smiled, her and your stepdad shaking his hand while you took your shoes off.
“Yeah, yeah I am. Nice to meet you both.” He spoke, his accent throwing your family off.
“Wow a British boy!” Your mom grinned, making you roll your eyes.
“Mom, really?”
“You’re right. You two go get settled and we can talk more once you’re back. Taking the basement?” Your mom asked.
“I think we’ll be fine in my room.” You replied, gesturing with your head for Ben to follow you upstairs.
Both of you set your bags down as Ben noticed some of the baby photos hanging on your walls.
“Awww look how cute you were!” He cooed. “Haven’t changed a bit, love.”
“Wow thanks.” You replied sarcastically, a smile tugging on your lips as he pressed his lips to your forehead.
“You’re still so cute, you know that.” He mumbled against your head.
“Thanks, baby.” You smiled. “We should get back downstairs. Get the interrogation over with.”
“They seem lovely.” Ben commented on the way downstairs, your fingers laced together with his.
“They are. They’re just a lot sometimes.” You told him honestly.
“There they are!” Your stepdad announced as the two of you sat down on the stools at the island counter.
“So,” Your mom started. “How did the two of you meet?”
“I bumped into him on the street while I was abroad.” You answered, smiling at the memory. “It was one of my first days in London and I was so lost and trying to find my way I didn’t notice him coming and we just bumped into each other.”
“Sweet. Ben you look familiar. Do I know you from somewhere?” Your stepdad asked, pausing the dinner making process.
“Erm, maybe Bohemian Rhapsody and 6 Underground? I was in both of those movies.” Ben answered, this time you ran your thumb over his knuckles under the counter.
“Holy shit, no way! y/n and I watched both of those together, we loved them.” He gasped.
“Thank you.” Ben smiled. “They were both a lot of fun to shoot.”
The conversation flowed lightly until you ate dinner, Ben saying nothing but good things about your stepdad’s cooking.
“Can I help you clean up?” Ben asked after dinner, your mom and stepdad shushing him and shaking their heads.
“No no, go sit down. You and y/n can pick out a movie.” Your stepdad said.
“Nothing scary!” Your mom added, making Ben chuckle before he joined you on the couch, wrapping his arm around your shoulders.
“They do that every time we have guests. Nice of you to ask, though.” You told him quietly, referring to him asking if he could help clean.
“‘S what I do.” He shrugged, grinning when he saw what was free on demand. “What about Bohemian Rhapsody? It’s free.”
“Shut up.” You giggled, cuddling into his chest. “We’re not watching that. We’ve all seen it.”
“Hmm fine. What about…Isn’t It Romantic?” He suggested, you nodding in response right as your parents came into the room.
“This sound good?” You asked, waiting for everyone to agree before hitting play.
You ended up falling asleep, curled up against Ben’s chest until you were woken up by your mom whispering.
“Have you two had sex?”
“Mom!” You groaned, making Ben jump from your sudden movement and making your mom roll her eyes.
“Scared me, love. Thought you were asleep.” He gasped.
“‘M half asleep. To answer your question, mom, no we haven’t but it’s none of your business anyway.” You mumbled. “Is the movie over?”
“Just finished, yeah.” Ben responded, a light tint of pink still on his cheeks.
“Perfect. It’s sleep time. Goodnight everyone.” You cheered, grabbing Ben’s hand and bringing him upstairs after he said goodnight as well.
“Sorry about that question, she does it with all of us.” You told him, kissing him softly.
“‘S fine, love. You saved me from answering it. I probably wouldn’t have lied.” He chuckled, making you smile. “Who knew you could lie on the spot like that?”
“Hey bold of you to assume I want my mom knowing shit about our sex life!”
