Tokyo Babylon 2021 TV Anime Gets Its Cast, Staff, Premiere Date And New Trailer

  Earlier this morning in Japan, a special event was held and livestreamed via YouTube Live to unveil more information on the forthcoming anime adaptation and revival of CLAMP's Tokyo Babylon. The event revealed the main cast, staff and a new trailer for the series, along with the performers for the opening and ending themes, which will be cast members Shouta Aoi and Nana Mizuki

    The series has been confirmed to premiere next Spring in April of 2021 and the series will feature Shouta Aoi, Yuichiro Umehara and Nana Mizuki in the roles of Subaru Sumeragi, Hokuto Sumeragi and Seishiro Sakurazuka, respectively. The main staff has been confirmed to include directors Shingo Suzuki and Susumu Kudo with series composition being handled by Jun Kumagai and character design being handled by Makoto Furuta. so... i’m not as upset about the TB series being cancelled as i should be. I’m sad I will have to wait longer and I might die before I ever see it, but if it was so bad they cancelled it outright, I’m okay with that decision. The official comment is savage and I’m glad they’re protecting the IP.

GoHands Animates CLAMP's New Tokyo Babylon 2021 TV Anime

  CLAMP's Tokyo Babylon classic manga series is getting a new TV anime adaptation from anime studio GoHands (Hand Shakers) in 2021 entitled Tokyo Babylon 2021, the official Twitter account for the TV anime series announced today. The first teaser trailer and visual for the upcoming "completely new TV anime set in Tokyo in 2021" was released.

      The Tokyo Babylon manga originally ran from 1990 to 1993, set on the backdrop of the decline of the Japanese economy as the bubble era came to a close. It was original licensed in English by TokyoPop, and then later rescued by Dark Horse Comics, who describes the series as such:

  It's 1991, the last days of Japan's bubble economy, and money and elegance run through the streets. So do the currents of darkness beneath them, nourishing evil spirits that only the arts of the onmyoji—Japan's legendary occultists—can combat. The two most powerful onmyoji are in the unlikely guises of a handsome young veterinarian, Seishiro, and the teenage heir to the ancient Sumeragi clan, Subaru.

  CLAMP's Tokyo Babylon also inspired two OVA's in 1992 and 1994 and a live-action film in 1993. While it's confirmed that the new Tokyo Babylon adaptation will be set in 2021, it hasn't been announced what the story will be, or any of the cast and staff.
