In fact, I would take your card, burn it into ashes, throw it into water so it could create mud, send them to prison inmates for them to eat and to digest, take their shit and send them to the farms so they could reject the offer to use shit to make compost and throw that shit away because nobody needs it at all.

I don’t care if you had been a Shawol, or even a Blinger (Jonghyun stan) for 1, 5, 10 years or even since their debut. I don’t care if you ever made a Tumblr page where you fangirled over Jonghyun’s body at age 15. I do not care if you had been to Jonghyun’s concert and you were the one who caught his shirt. I don’t care if you got the chance to talk to him personally and he hugged you.

The fact that you had the audacity to harass other Shawols or justify people calling Jonghyun a d3adman is a fucking disappoint not only to Shawols, but the people who you’re claiming to “protect.” You being able to move on from his death doesn’t make you any better than anyone else, or gives you the rights to be the grieving police for all those who are affected. In fact, it makes you look selfish and a narcissist. The world doesn’t revolve around you, everyone is trying to live after this possibly traumatic event for some of them and they kept being retraumatised because of the people who harass them, and especially to those who they thought was one of their own, which turned out to be a disgusting, disgraceful of a human being, a token shawol. And all this for what? Attention? Greed? Or probably because you NEVER liked SHINee in the first place.

SHINee would be disgusted seeing people like you — especially Jonghyun. With the way you won’t keep him out of your mouth, I’m pretty sure that the very person that you claim to be “protecting” would think that you’re a pathetic human being that just wants to hurt others for their own satisfaction, and maybe to please other people that we have no business connecting with.

My heart is hurting so much I don’t know what to do except cry. I almost hurt myself but I tell myself Jonghyun would not want that.

i know anonnie, i know... the pain is a lot, it’s unbearable. i too can’t stop crying because it’s too much.. i want it to end but how could it when we lost someone who was so dear to everyone’s heart. i’m glad that even though you’re hurting on the inside you didn’t bring physical harm to yourself. you’re right. jonghyun might’ve token his own life but he wouldn’t want the same for others. please know that it’s okay to feel this much pain. it sucks, it really reallly does but it’s important too. it shows that you did love him, as we all did. without love, there would be no grief, but without grief there would be no love. i hope you know that the entire shawol community(as well as many many other fandoms) will offer all the support we can, we are in this together. just remember that as we all mourn that we should take care of ourselves. always eat, try to get some sleep, go to work/school, etc. stay strong anonnie, stay strong.

super groups are not a new concept in music and have existed since the 60s (led zeppelin were one!). although the idea is newer in kpop, sm have done project groups before (see: younique unit, also including taemin and kai). people might not like the idea and that's completely fine, i get it, but the whole point of supergroups is to bring the best members from different groups into one to make music and to draw attention to their groups all at once. which is what's been happening with superm; lots of shawols are checking out nct bc of mark, nctzens listening to shinee and exo, and so on.

the marketing is obnoxious, i'll give you that. but it's marketing and more importantly, it's marketing that works seeing as how all the kpop community is aware of superm's tagline. it's meant to make people think, "okay they say they're the best of the best? let me see for myself." and then there's a wholeass lee taemin in the group so they're not wrong about having top tier idols lol.

as for their synergy as a group, i have two thoughts on that. firstly, groups don't need to be best mates to get together and make good music (e.g. block b are very open about seeing each other as coworkers and make music that bangs). a lot of times this brotherly bond is sold to us fans because we like seeing these kinds of interactions, but i doubt all bands are as close as they say they are. some definitely are (bts, got7 etc) but i really don't see it as the be all and end all.

secondly, i think superm are completely fine in their dynamic. taemin and kai have been best friends since trainee days and baekhyun is in exo with kai. he is also generally the moodmaker of the team. meanwhile mark has basically fallen in love with kai lmao. i think they get along just fine and i don't really understand why people expect a deeper bond from a band whose concept is that they have been brought together from different groups. i understand if it means you're just not as interested in their dynamic, but they haven't tried to tout themselves as best friends.

on the point about managing promotions. i just hope sm doesn't disappoint us tbh. superm is meant to be a project group on the side and they did state their original groups are the priority, but only time can tell.

as for what the point of superm is... it's to make music and draw attention to their groups with one supergroup. some groups are just there to make music and that's completely fine. yeah, SM are concerned about turning a profit, like literally every company under capitalist structures. they're a shitty company, no one's denying that, but every entertainment company in korea wants to make money. that's what they're there to do. bighit isn't any different. yes, bts use their music to preach messages they believe in, but i think placing them on this pedestal of changing the world for the greater good is a little excessive. they formed because the members wanted to make music. yoongi straight up said he came to seoul to make money - and that's okay.

you mention how SM is trying to cheat the system instead of putting in the hard work and letting the fans see that as they work their way up. all i can say is: w h a t ? they did work hard as trainees and they've all been through stuff with their respective groups. the whole point is that they did all that and came to be the best in the company and now they're joining forces under one band.

the constant comparisons to bts annoys everyone. it annoys armys because western media is constantly wondering who the next bts is. it annoys fans of other groups because it undermines their groups' identities. it annoys multis like me because it's straight up irritating. but it's an offence of the western media who can only view kpop through a narrow lens. by comparing all groups to bts, they a) limit the expansion of kpop to only one 'top' token group and b) undermine the struggles of all trainees. it's a gimmick they use and everyone hates it. superm will never be the next bts. no one will be the next bts, they'll make their own name for themselves. it's western media who tries to shove any rising kpop group into this category.

(also bts definitely helped pave the way, especially for western expansion but to dismiss acts like big bang as 'nudging' kpop into the scene is just... wow. sure bts have hit it big in the west and are making kpop more known here, but acts like big bang, tvxq, snsd, 2ne1, wonder girls, shinee, boa and so on were the ones who drove the hallyu wave outside of korea. they paved an earlier part of the path.)

please don't use sulli as a reason to oppose superm. it's incredibly disrespectful to her memory.

Super M -> The Next BTS?

Okay........I tried putting this off for a while, but I can’t.

If you are a fan of super M, then good for you.

So, as you guys know Super M has FINALLY arrived. Like, SM kept saying “Get ready! Super M is coming!” but for a while nothing happened. When they did FINALLY drop their album I was psyched ! Like, Jjopping is a bop and Mark’s second rap verse makes my heart go “FjdyejFksodgrbJgdjrvegOjdhd”

Their image is, for the most part, interesting and enticing, BUT, I’m hella confused on what their primary message is. Like....what are they trying to tell us besides “We’re the best, we’re #1, we’re the Avengers of K-pop!” And, it’s REALLY starting to rub me the wrong way when people say “OMGGG Super M is the next BTS” Like, bitch what???? I’m also really annoyed that so many articles are trying to compare the two groups as if there’s something to compare. As much as I like Super M, there are a few problems I have with the group. Not the members themselves, because let’s be honest- they are all under slave contracts, but instead with SM and they’re schemaful ways.

Let’s start off with “Super M is the next BTS” FALSE Super M is NOT the next BTS. There will NEVER be another BTS just like there will never be another Beyoncé, The Beatles, Dreak, Cardi B, etc. I don’t know why people feel the need to act like it’s a possibility. It’s not. Unless seven God like men who look EXACTLY like BTS, who sing/rap/dance EXACTLY like BTS, who have the same EXACT personalities, message, persona, adittide like BTS are born in the future and sign onto another BigHit company in SK, there won’t be another BTS. Yoongi said it himself. Don’t mess with the genius.

I’m not concerned about who the next “Top K-pop group” is because there will be another. BTS can’t stay BTS forever. Their time will come to end and the next will rise, but, that won’t be soon.  Other groups may come close, or reach their level, but I don’t think any group can surpass and or replace BTS at this stage. They’ve worked so hard for so many years to get where they are, and people SEE that. That’s why we ARMY are so protective, (sometimes too protective) and loyal. We’ve seen their struggle, we’ve been a part of it. We’ve worked with boys to help them get where they are. You can’t take that away from the boys or their fans. It’s been a shared experience, a bond, with Blood Sweat and Tears over the years.

Which is kind of why I have a problem with the whole concept of Super M. Don’t get me wrong, I love SHINee, EXO, WayV, and NCT, but I feel like their coming together to form this new group wasn’t organic and natural. It feels forced. The deep bond you get with groups who have been together since trainees is missing. I don’t feel the authenticity when I watch the group. I’m not saying the members are fake, I’m saying the special warm feeling I get in my chest when I watch BTS, Got7 and Blackpink perform as a group isn’t there when I watch Super M.

And, I think it’s because they came on WAY to strong and cocky. To label yourselves “The Avengers of K-pop” is too big of a stance when you JUST started and don’t even know if you’ll be around in the next six months. It’s too soon for SM to put SPR M on that high of a pedestal. I also feel like SM is doing this for themselves. Like, BTS do what they do for the greater good of others and strive to be the helping hand that helped get them the there. What I mean is that everything Army has done for them, they want to do for others as well. I’m not saying they’re perfect because perfection doesn’t exist, but, they are so authentic and confident in who they are that you can FEEL it through a SCREEN. SM is trying to cheat their way up to the top. Instead of putting in hard work and letting the fans see the struggles and hardships of the members rising to fame, like BTS, I feel like SM is trying to cheat the system, granted BTS’s success makes it easier for other groups to rise to fame (yeah I said that! just because PSY and Bigbang kind of nudged K-pop into the Stonemusic scene doesn’t mean that it was bound to stick.)

SPR M gives me a weird processed feeling, and, again, I feel like it’s because they don’t have a message yet, and because SM isn’t doing this to change the world for a greater good, but instead to branch out across the market to get more mojo. It doesn’t sit well with me. Also, with Sulli’s passing and SM ignoreing the issue of her depression and her cries do help, I don’t feel like the company deserves attention and love, not at this moment - and I know that that sounds terrible because, if you don’t support the company then you don’t support the groups, and if you do support the groups that means you support the company. SM has a history of neglecting, abuseing and overworking their artists. I would feel much better about SPR M if they originated under a different company. SM is unstable in their marketing of groups and overal wellbeing of their artists.

Also, since SPR M is targeted for the western scene, how are SHINee, EXO, NCT, and WayV supposed to carry out their promotions with missing members who have now been given a WHOLE a priority. The other groups and members will be cast aside to ensure SPR M gets where they need to be because SM promised. They can’t take it back. I also feel like SPR M was was put together last minute as a way of SM trying to gain control back over the K-pop scene. BigHit was always talk down upon, and for a bigger entertainment companies to see them skyrocket probably didn’t sit well with them. Which is stupid. Big three will forever be known as the big three, and BigHit will forever be known as BigHit. Just like how BTS will forever be known as BTS and any other group that comes after them will be known as whatever they brand themselves as. If SPR M does get to level of BTS, then good for them, but the two groups shouldn’t be compared, especially while they are at completely different levels.

i can be very critical very freely on here because that’s just how i am and i feel like i’m just speaking to the void anyway 

but i wanted to say i do appreciate non shawols and new kpop fans doing their research on jonghyun and shinee quietly before speaking on him and genuinely going through the appreciation process of his work solo and with shinee, to then go through the celebration process of his life and art after his passing. it’s so warm and rare to see people that weren’t/aren’t shawols speaking of him the right way instead of looking for clout tokens on the internet
