Just realized i never posted Shard's sort-of-pirate togruta situationship and i am so ashamed.

He dresses like it's the 70s and he lives in a van (his shitty spaceship). His markings are going to cause me great pains.

Reading The High Republic means I get to learn new Togruta things:

Their handshake is clasping each other’s wrists, as opposed to the normal handshaking or even the Mando version of clasping each other’s arms.

Their head of state is their Queen, who’s formally known as the Most High Regasa and Supreme Huntress of the United Tribes. She’s known as sovereign of the Togruta government, and is also the planetary leader of Shili. Very powerful. Very cool.

Like all new languages, the first thing I learned about Togruti is a swear word, which shouldn’t be as funny as it should, but I was snickering when the Captain of the Royal Guard basically cussed out the enemy and called them a bunch of fuckers.

Shili Provinces and Territories

Oh hey! I'm a fanfic writer who loves worldbuilding far too much. This map is my own pet project for my fanfiction series Do Not Go Gentle. Despite Star Wars having a major Togruta protagonist in the form of Ahsoka Tano for almost twenty years, we know virtually nothing about her home planet of Shili except that they have a bitchin film industry. Because I am very normal I decided to build the planet myself. So let's get into the geography!

There are only two continents on the planet of Shili oh my god I'm actually naming them: Janaki and Daksha.

The twelve provinces of Janaki, the northern continent: Khariboli, Aagan, Lamir, Siprissa, Memdt Nassr, Azzi, Šurili, Gir-Gö, Tuz, Jamgo-o, Hassannala, and Zuldunak.

Tara's Teeth is a unique island chain on the equator. It technically belongs to Khariboli province, but with the exception of a small settlement of caretakers on the big island, it is uninhabited and a protected wildlife area. Most of the remaining akuls on Shili reside on Tara's Teeth, safely sequestered from the global population. Safari tours are a popular tourist attraction.

There are three territories on Daksha, the southern continent: Shinabek, Noq, and Kayenta. The Togrutas who live down here all follow a very traditional, low-tech way of life, subsiding on hunting and moving between winter and summer villages to allow prey to rejuvenate. There's only one city, Minocqua, which with a population of 10k makes it the most populated spot on the island. Noq is almost all frozen tundra. Ahsoka's people, the Binishii, are from Shinabek Territory in the Cigonaa'agan Mountains.

I love this one a lot more bc I really nailed her body type & also didn't forget her scars this time around!! Also redesigned her main four outfits a bit :)

PART 1 of my project on mapping out regional variations in the people of Shili, also known as the togruta!

For even more detail, read below!

Shili is home to a variety of coastal communities, ranging from freshwater, to wetlands, to oceans, to small islands whose populations have remained more genetically isolated. Many of the traits seen in individuals of these regions were developed to help them become the best fishermen and swimmers of the planet.

Their most defining features are the larger, smooth markings across their bodies that can be broken down into thin stripes, much like some of the aquatic life they hunt. Combined with their often more horizontal montrals and shorter lekku, it is hard to mistake someone who hails from these communities.

The one shown in this example is wearing a traditional loin piece that has been worn by his people for generations and is based on the Maro and similar Polynesian styles.

Often host to people from all over their planet or other planets in nearby systems, the ocean regions have begun to develop a bit of a tourism industry. Of course, many of the communities who have lived and fished those waters for centuries are now pushing back on the change in local culture. Many of the oldest villages on Shili are found on these coasts and still hold their traditions very close to their hearts.

This design mainly based off of small physiological adaptations that different groups would develop over periods of time in certain climates and ecosystems. Many modern togruta may have a combination of traits from different regions in their appearance and this is related to the gradual globalization of the planet and its cultures.

more worldbuilding for Shili, this time for traditional spirituality bc that just fascinates me

the ancestral perception of the Force was often as a great unifier, and the position of family matriarch or grandmother fit that very well. Grandmother Ashla is usually depicted with the same fuzzy skin coloration that Ohkaali has, with each agespot another star in the sky and another life in the Force

a huge amount of Shili's landmasses are scrub, prairie, and steppe, and the majority of Togruta civilizations started in the great turu savannas. by far the most common "mother nature" figure was a variant on Mother Turu of the grasslands, with as many montrals and lekku as there are blades of grass

the Moonsiblings arrive according to the phases of the six moons, sharing the burden. Veyla is the youngest, so has the smallest amount of moon to watch over with a crescent moon. Maato is the middle sibling and can handle more responsibility with quarter moons. Thikruan is the eldest and is the only one large and strong enough to carry a full moon. their secret fourth sibling Gohr was a stillborn infant, nevertheless still seen in the darkness of the new moons
