Yesterday was a rough and sad day. We along with our vet fought hard to help Milkyway with her illness. Milkyway aka Big Momma was our first milking goat we got. She let us explore the world of milking and blessed us with three kids two years ago. She was unable to pull through whatever she was battling. "The Yuletide Handsel" (after Sir Henry Raeburn's "The Skating Minister" c.1790) - 12” x 12” on stretched cotton-duck, SOLD. Yesterday I mentioned the Edinburgh Skating Club, established in 1742. Nowadays the club is best known for its association with the painting “The Skating Minister” (1790) by the painter Henry Raeburn (1756 – 1823), also known as “The Reverend Robert Walker Skating on Duddingston Loch”. The figure depicted in Rayburn’s painting was The Reverend Robert Walker (1755 – 1808), a Minister in the Church of Scotland. It’s one of my very favourite paintings, and so I painted a version in homage a couple of years ago.
