So I've watched TOG on Netflix and I fucking love it. Following you makes really want to get into the comics. Any recommendations on where to start?
my FIRST recommendation is to keep your expectations low bc the comics are a HUGE hit-or-miss for a lot of people, and i think the majority of the people in the fandom either like them quite a bit or hate them (& both opinions are completely valid of course).
but tOG's comics are a lot easier to follow than like, marvel or DC stuff. theyre split into 3 4 groups. tOG is (god willing) supposed to be a trilogy, so it has three main volumes.
Volume 1 is five issues long, and it's called Opening Fire. it follows the events of the movie, and is fairly similar to the movie as far as comic-to-movie adaptions go.
Volume 2 is called Force Multiplied, and follows shortly after the events of Opening Fire. the planned sequel to the tOG movie will be an adaption of this volume, though greg (the comic/script writer) has said before in interviews that the tOG sequel and Force Multiplied will differ quite a bit. (It also has five issues)
Volume 3 is called Fade Away and it hasn't been written yet and therefore isn't available for purchase or preorder yet. (it will probably also have five issues)
tOG also has an anthology called Tales Through Time(ttt), which is just a collection of various stories written by various authors about the historical shenanigans the squad has gotten into. There is only one volume (as of now) and that volume will have a total of six issues (each issue has 2 stories in it, so 12 stories total). right now only 3 of those 6 issues have been published.
The easiest way to buy them would probably be digitally through amazon, but if youre not into digital comics or arent into amazon in general, there are several ways listed that you can buy them on image comics' website
i suppose the recommended reading order would be Opening Fire -> Force Multiplied -> Tales Through Time. some people only read some of the tales through time stories; ive compiled a little list/summary of them here, and you can read the official blurbs on the image comics website for each ttt issue if you want to know more
(also you can read the first issue of Opening Fire here if you want to take a look at the art style opening fire & force multiplied are drawn in. its not.......... popular)
