#todayimcalling in support of the Save Net Neutrality Act (House Resolution 4585). #phoneactivistlunch
Call your Rep & Senators by dialing (202) 224-3121 and entering your zip code. Here is a script:
"Hello, my name is ____ and I am a concerned citizen from ______. I am calling in support of the Save Net Neutrality Act, House Resolution 4585. I rely on the free, open internet in many ways, and I am concerned that a handful of non-elected officials at the FCC get to guide our policies regarding how the internet is regulated. Reviewing and determining Net Neutrality rules should be in the hands of Congress, so that there can be a public, bipartisan process that is subject to constituent's scrutiny."

Trump just rolled back the contraception mandate. Any employer can now refuse to cover birth control. #todayimcalling my Rep and Senators to express that this is unacceptable. #phoneactivistlunch
Call your Reps by dialing (202) 224-312 and entering your zip code. Here is a script:
Hello, my name is _____ and I'm calling from ______. I'm calling because I am deeply outraged that Trump has decided to remove the contraceptive mandate. Employers have no right to police the medical decisions of their employees. Birth control is an essential medication for people with Polycystic Ovarian Syndrome, Post-Menstrual Dysphoric Disorder, and many other conditions. Access to birth control helps keep people healthy and safe, and ensures their reproductive agency. We must reinstate this mandate, legislatively and swiftly. Otherwise, countless people with face unplanned, unwanted pregnancies, painful medical symptoms, and a loss of essential self-determination.

#todayimcalling to defend Net Neutrality. #phoneactivistlunch
Call FCC Chairman Ajit Pai at: 202-418-1000
Call your Congress person and Senators at: 5calls.org
Script:
Hello, I am a voter from _______ and my name is ______. I am calling in strong support of Net Neutrality. An open, neutral internet is necessary for the United States to compete on the international stage. Net Neutrality is essential to business, creative collaboration, education, and journalism these days, and the destruction if it would plunge us into a dark age. It is unacceptable that the FCC is pandering to internet service providers in this way. I, and millions of other Americans, are outraged about this and will not stand for it.

#todayimcalling in support of Net Neutrality. I’m also giving a brief reality check about some the claims that internet customers in Portugal have to pay additional fees per website they want to access (spoiler: they don’t, the EU has Net Neutrality). #phoneactivistlunch
Call Ajit Pai at: 202-418-1000 and tell him you support Net Neutrality, and that the internet is a public utility.

Jeff Sessions has officially removed employment discrimination protections for transgender people. #todayimcalling in support of a bill, The Equality Act of 2017, that will counteract this hateful, despicable move. #phoneactivistlunch
Call your Reps by dialing (202) 224-3121. Here is a script:
Hello my name is ____ and I'm a constituent from _____. I am calling because Jeff Sessions' decision to revoke protections for transgender people is a disgrace. We must act now to protect the rights of trans people, who face incredibly high levels  of violence and prejudice in the workplace, when seeking housing, and in public life. Please support the Equality Act of 2017. Legal protection for the rights of LGBTQ Americans needs to be enacted swiftly so that craven, hateful acts like Jeff Sessions' cannot happen again.
Can't use the phone? I will call for you. Leave a request here: https://goo.gl/forms/OoQqCUYfYpPU52sk2

#todayimcalling in opposition to Trump's threat of military action against North Korea. #phoneactivistlunch
Call the White House Comment Line at Comments: 202-456-1111 or the Switchboard: 202-456-1414
And call your Senators at: 202-224-3121
Here is a script:
"Hello, my name is ____ and I am a constituent from _____. I am calling to express extreme dismay and terror at the prospect of escalated conflict and nuclear war with North Korea. North Korea is an unpredictable state, and has less to lose than the United States. If engaged in nuclear conflict, North Korea, if provoked, could wipe out Guam, South Korea, and western parts of the U.S. We must not rush foolhardily into war. Congressional approval must be granted for all military action against this country. Cooler heads must prevail."

#todayimcalling in support of Net Neutrality. #phoneactivistlunch
Call your Senators & Rep by dialing (202) 224-3121 and entering your zip code. Here is a script:
Hello, my name is _____ and I'm a constituent from ____. I am calling in support of Net Neutrality. I need access to the open, neutral internet to conduct business, collaborate with people around the world, and access information. Without Ne Neutrality, the United States would not be able to compete on the international stage in academia, business, science or technology. We must fight to protect it.

#todayimcalling to oppose the Republican tax plan, which would permit up to $5 trillion in tax cuts for the wealthy, increase the deficit to fund those cuts, and take funds away from Social Security and Medicare. #phoneactivistlunch
Call your Senators & Congressperson at: (202) 224-3121
Here is a script:
Hello, my name is ______ and I'm a constituent from (city, zip). I am calling because the budget for 2018 is unacceptable. We cannot afford to fund $5 trillion in tax cuts for the wealthy by increasing the deficit and stripping funds from Social Security and Medicare. This bill will harm retired and working Americans and worsen income inequality throughout this country, all while increasing our deficit. I'm urging my representatives to reach across the aisle, listen to their infuriated constituents, and work to create a reasonable budget that covers necessary social services and doesn't line the pockets of the rich.

#todayimcalling to tell my Rep & Senators that the final tax bill must remove the graduate student tax and the repeal of the individual mandate. #phoneactivistlunch
Here are some useful talking points to choose from, courtesy of 5calls.org:
— Tax cuts for the wealthy and corporations will create a massive deficit increase, which will then be paid for with devastating cuts to Medicare, Social Security, education, and other vital programs.
— This bill was written behind closed doors by lobbyists and the American people have been consistently lied to about what it will do to their pocketbooks and livelihoods.
— The repeal of the ACA individual mandate will completely upend the health insurance market, uninsuring millions, spiking premiums, and risking coverage for those with pre-existing conditions.
— This bill will hand over pristine Alaskan land to oil companies, destroying protected land and endangering wildlife.
— The elimination of the SALT deduction will cause millions of middle-income Americans to pay higher taxes.

#todayimcalling to oppose federal spending cuts to Medicaid and Medicare. The vote is Thursday. Let's do this. #phoneactivistlunch
Call the Senate Switchboard by dialing:  (202) 224-3121 and enter your zip code.
Here is a script: Hello, I am a constituent from (city, zip). I am calling because it is unacceptable for the Senate to cut over five trillion dollars in funding from Medicare and Medicaid over the next ten years. With many states facing an increasingly large disabled and aging population and addiction issues on the rise, we cannot in good conscience strip these services of essential funds. We must provide access to life-saving medical care to all Americans, especially the most vulnerable among us.

The fight for the tax plan is not over. #todayimcalling my Rep & Senators to discuss what needs to be removed as the two bills are reconciled. And to chide the bastards that voted for it so far. #phoneactivistlunch
Call your Rep & Senators by dialing (202) 224-3121 and entering your zip code. Here is a script:
Hello, I am a constituent from _________. I am calling because it is unacceptable and disgusting to me that the Senate forced an unread, shoddily written tax bill down our throats on Friday night. We need a transparent, careful political process in place to make big decisions like these. As the two bills are being reconciled, I believe the following changes must be made: - The Graduate Student Tax must be removed- The repeal of the individual mandate must be taken out - The increase to the deficit must not be funded by cuts to social security and welfare- Alaskan wilderness must not be given to oil companies.
There are many things wrong with each of these two bills and the process by which they were passed. I'm counting on my representatives to address these issues and reduce the harm this awful bill will cause. Thank you.

Aldermen voted 48-1 in favor of the cop academy yesterday, but we still don't know how they will go about securing funding for it. #todayimcalling my Alderman to express outrage at his vote, and to emphasize that we must fund schools and public services first, before we create a massive, bloated training camp. #phoneactivistlunch #nocopacademy
Look up your Alderman's phone number here: https://www.cityofchicago.org/city/en/depts/mayor/iframe/lookup_ward_and_alderman.html
Tell them you still don't support the cop academy, and that the city must fund schools, mental health services, hospitals, infrastructure, and so much more long before they consider building this facility.
